I used contact paper in my classroom for different things. Including clear contact paper on the floor with my little's photos so they knew where to stand in line at the beginning of school. Later, I changed it and they stood on a sight word. They had to tell me the word. Then I changed the order of the line so they were learning all the words. Also putting their photo on their cubby where they stored their backpacks and jackets. I covered copy paper boxes to have extra storage with fun colors that matched my classroom colors. Contact paper is awesome!! 😊❤
Nice!! You should have glued a jenga block into the hole on the broken counter 😂. Cutting up books is better than letting them end up in a landfill ! According to research, around 320 million books end up in landfill sites every year!!! Loving your videos!! TYFS 🥰🥰
Yes I recycle paper into my crafts. Give things new life. You would be amazed at how beautiful the book that's falling apart looks when decoupaged onto something.. even napkins! Boxes used for delivery get transformed into decor, storage and even junk journals. Reduce.. REUSE.. recycle 😉
@@rhondaeversole2975 I don't mean upcycle or reuse for crafts, I mean recycle, like glass or plastic are recycled to make new products. You can't decoupage 2,000 pages but you can recycle 8 books. Where I live paper goes into a specific container, it's picked up when it's full and sent to a recycling facility.
Back in the 70's I was newly divorced and VERY poor. Made a hooded fireplace (blk ) using triangle sides and large flat front, for the base i used white brick (it was available by contact plastic brick back then) my "logs" were grey "wood" contact paper. It was lit from a hole in bottom of box base. I made bunching tables from two plastic waste baskets covered in wood & the tops were two matching shallow boxes covered in wood contact paper. An old table my Mom was pitching became new again with more contact paper and old cardtable chairs (with ridgid cushions wrapped in...contact) matched the tabletop! I made a dining "nook" using contact paper on the back of a bookcase that stood btwn living room & dining area. Friends used to bring others to see my "contact apartment" Even touching it they couldn't believe it was all contact paper! Of course counters were transformed in contact paper.
My sister has a used desk she bought that has contrasting contact paper covering the top. She has always thought about changing it up but never got around to it. Totally randomly, she hired an organizer one time to help with a couple of projects and the woman instantly recognized the desk because she was the one who put the contact paper on it for her daughter and later sold it lol.
Love this! I suspect the landlord might not want to see the apartment returned to its original state. LOL! Years ago I used contact paper on 2 cardboard organizers that sat in an area that was visible from my living room. They looked 100% better once the job was done. Years later they still look like new with the same contact paper. . Loved this project, especially the caulking idea. Looking forward to the next one...
I absolutely love covering boxes with contact paper! It makes me feel like I have matching sets - but really, I just got discarded boxes that fit my needs and I "MADE" them match on my budget! :) Thanks for checking in!
Love clear contact paper to cover my upcycles. I use it over scrapbook paper, and now I don't feel so guilty about the scads of scrapbook pads I bought the past couple years because I'm finally using them! My favorite upcycle right now is a sliding "gate" I made to keep the dogs out of the hallway--flattened cardboard boxes covered with my favorite autumn papers in a collage style--just tall enough to keep them from stepping over. Makes my heart sing every time I see it.
What a wonderful idea! We use a large cardboard box to keep our German Shepherd out of one room. Thanks to your idea I’m going to reinforce it a bit and then cover it with contact paper. Maybe even add a DIY ‘handle’ for swinging it out of the way when we need to. Thanks!!!
Back in the late 70's, I rented a place with a really crappy looking refrigerator, I covered it with a basket weave contact paper & it looked like a beautiful basket in my kitchen. I LOVE contact paper!!
I love that! That's how I learned about contact paper! As a kid, my grandma used it for so many things! And we made necklaces out of paperclips and scraps of contact paper in school. Good memories. 💜
Oh my goodness! I live in a small apartment with neutral everything! The pink contact paper is so cute. I’m going to order some and redo my counters which are very similar to your daughter’s. It is so good to know that it removes easily and completely. I’m excited about all the possibilities now that you have shared. Thank you so much. Have a good week!
I had mine on in my old kitchen for about 3 years. I'd say 98% of it removed cleanly. The small percentage of adhesive easily came off with a little Goo Gone.
Ive been using contact paper to update things for probably about 30 years! It all startex with not having a lot of money, but also living in rentals. I never thought i could do counter tops though. I assume you have to make sure you get goid enough quality that it can stand up to lots of use.
Not really.... just be gentle with them. Don't cut directly on the counter, and use a heat pad for hot pots and pans. Much like you'd have to do with a formica or laminate counter! I'm super impressed with how they hold up!
I have no backsplash in my kitchen. A few years ago I got some wood looking contact paper at a garage sale for two dollars a roll. It was very thick and better than any paper I’ve ever seen. I used it as my backsplash in the kitchen and I love it. I never thought of the caulk and I might go back and do that now. I really enjoyed this.
That's what I am trying to find... outdated, unwanted books. Heading to my local community college today to see if they have some that are being discarded!
Hello Norrine, You must be so excited for your daughter to have her first apartment 😊 What a great idea using contact paper for the counters. I would never have thought of that! TYFS 🤗
Nothing worse than looking at a freezer covered in little bits of rust. It seems like every time you look at it there's more, no matter how many times you clean it off.
I am pretty new on your channel this past week. So inspired, I could not sleep last night…I had seen vids; then looked at contact/wallpaper @ Amazon. I purchased a new 4-step ladder with handrails and a tool holder @ top for security for some high areas. Had to start from the bottom up LOL😂 I have so much planned for this summer and got about 2 hrs of sleep. You gave me answers to problem areas throughout the house Norrine, from over 20 years ago. I am over the moon grateful. 🎉❤😅. Thanks much~~~
I have to suggest a caveat to “cutting up books “. If the books have suffered damage- like the glue disintegrating and large sections of pages have been lost- by all means up cycle that dude rather than trash it.
I bought some contact paper a while ago but can't remember what I was going to do with it! Lol. Your daughters apartment looks fabulous now! She must love it and she is so lucky to have such a talented Mother! Thanks for sharing Norrine! 😍
It was an honor to have her ask me to help her. She knew I'd have a budget way to make it 'hers'. Such special times. 💜 Thanks for checking in, Diane xoxoxo
Your daughter's countertops turned beautifully! I bought a black desk from the Restore, painted it white, then covered the top & drawer fronts with marble contact paper! It turned out beautifully!❤ As always, Norrine, thank you for sharing your tips & tricks with us! Stay safe, healthy, and positive! God bless you and your family!🙏❤️🇺🇸😊
@TheCraftyOrganizer I finally managed to rearrange my craft room. Now, I need to organize all of the little things! I will get around to it, eventually!😊
I love this! I use clear contact paper to laminate cards for my granddaughter. I got digital downloads for the Alphabet and numbers and different colors. I printed them on card stock and used clear contact paper to make them sturdy. She loves them!❤
I never thought of covering a counter top with contact paper. What a GREAT idea. I especially like the caulking idea and you did a marvelous job. You are just full of great ideas. Thanks.
Free boxes (all the sane size) covered in contact paper fill my pantry. I used a blond wood grain to cover a large, white IKEA cabinet to match a bookcase next to it. That pink marble is definitely ME. I may have to get some.
Congrats to your daughter on her first apartment!🙌 The counters are GORGEOUS!! FYI: I had to close my eyes for the moving parts of the video due to my vertigo.
Love your videos even when I am not going to make whatever you are showing us how to make. One never knows when they might need the information. Thanks so much, Norrine! 😊
So sweet how you and your doughter worked together to level-up her new apartment !!! And great tips about how to handle contact-paper - the results look really perfect. 🙂 In Germany we are really lucky not to have those 'renter-issues'... ...we can paint and put screws as we wish - maybe that's because of the solid stone-building of houses.
Me and contact paper are old / new friends I was so not wanting to do anything with contact paper but I have over come my phobia and have been doing smallish projects using contact and my favorite is the black and white in my craft room so thanks for all the tips on using contact paper. I know you are excited for your daughter to have her first apartment so happy you helped her transform those not so beautiful counter tops Good job Mama!!
This brought back memories of doing this to the counters in my first apartment ... that was over 30 years ago! Ugh! It's great to see you having so much fun with your daughters!
You're in luck! I just showed them in a recent video! I use little sewing pins to keep the ribbon from unraveling. Works great! Here's a closer look: ruclips.net/video/-SL_SxZt3Io/видео.html
I love contact paper to cover counters, boxes, shelf backing and shelves. I used one that matched the wood flooring in my sewing room to cover the shelves in there at my house in Oregon, and the new owners loved how they matched. It's such a convenient!
Thank you for sharing these great tips for working with contact paper. You get really nice results. And I never knew about the thicker paper to use on countertops!

I love how it turned out! I did kitchen counters once, but didn’t know about the caulk. I have also lined my cabinets and covered a table. So much fun! Congratulations to your daughter on her first apartment!
First, congratulations on you recent wedding…so happy for you. Second, I was so happy to see you and your daughter working on her first apartment…I remember doing the same thing with my daughter many years ago. As usual, your ideas are the best and I love your delivery. So hello from Austin, Texas…take care, be safe, be sane.
Isn’t that the truth…our daughter is 49 years old, and she lets me help her with decorating, e.g., sewing curtains and picking out rugs. @@TheCraftyOrganizer
I had the same issue with the curve from the counter to backsplash. Definitely just cut and adhere a separate piece. I’m not afraid of layers and seams so pick your battles. 😂
Back in 1983 , most people became strapped for money. I needed a clothes hamper so I kept a cardboard box that we had used when we moved. I added more cardboard to every part. When I was happy with the stability of it, I covered it with a vinyl contact paper. It looked good and no one could tell that it was cardboard. It lasted for 20 years, but I finally bought a readymade version.
Great ideas! I bought a marble design contac paper from Temu to cover my desktop. It was all messed up from epoxy spills, paint etc. I used my sander to smooth out the hunks of epoxy, cleaned it up, and then applied the contact paper. Looks like a new desk 😊 I wanted to do my kitchen counters but was concerned that if someone set something hot on it without thinking, the contact paper would be ruined. I have 2 teenage grandsons living with me, so accidents happen LOL Love all your tips and tricks, thans again for sharing
You are awesome! I have a lifetime love/hate relationship with contact paper. I do love the results! I’m looking forward to the upcoming videos. I was stunned by the comment on how many books end up in landfills. I personally don’t mind de-constructing them and I would never throw one away unless it was badly damaged. I think we all need to rethink some of our thoughts. Great tips in this great video.
Looks like you girls had a blast!! 😯...book pages? Do you need book pages?? Gosh Mini, IF ONLY you knew someone... how much do you need? What colors? Like newer or older with petina? Girl, I'ma hook you up!! 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗
I’ve not yet used contact paper as such. But our daughter has on her kitchen table, she’d first painted the it. Then after years she wanted a different look so she chose the marble paper from DT and it’s been a number of years and going strong!!! Also Norrine I’d told you about my own space after a lifetime… Well it’s coming along nicely👏👏👏 we might look at a piece of padding and carpet this weekend!!! I’ve started the long progress of sorting/culling/destashing…some of the things. Anyway ALLL that said I’m keeping this video for the ideas of box/container covering. Thank you for all you have to offer. 💐❤️😀
I just started this process on my kitchen counters. Ive only done one small counter but i was trying to go from the little backsplash thats curved like your daighters down to the edge. Your way is so much better!! Im finishing tonight so this video came just in time!! Thank you❤ Also...i LOVE that pink contact paper! The counters look amazing.
Thanks. I bought a repo’d mobile home for $22k that is hideous but I am trying to get moved in so I can rent out my sight built home for income. This will help the mobile home be less hideous
@@TheCraftyOrganizer I’m stuck. It’s been sitting vacant for two years!! I have a lot of medical issues and haven’t been able to work on it. You’re welcome to come to Texas and play with all the things!!! 😂😂
Oh, Norrine, your timing is wonderful! My hubby and I are just now looking into covering our kitchen counter and here you are! Thank you so much for info on VEELIKE - turns out they have two different patterns we each like! Now to decide - Team Butcher Block vs. Team Blue Granite!! LOL
This was super helpful! So excited for your daughter and her new place. Nothing like the taste of Independence early in life. Be well and take care! Ang in WA state
I have not used contact paper in quite a few years. My mother used it a lot when I was growing up. I don’t know if the adhesive has changed over the years, but in my experience, it does not come up very easily. Thanks for showing this, those counters look beautiful.
I can relate to the concern about cutting up books. But my feelings do not stretch out to encyclopedias. 😉 They are outdated anyway and everybody uses wikipedia (or something like it) anyway, so in my opinion encyclopedias are fair game. And they have another fine feature: They often come in several books, so you can make quite a long row with matching book backs.
I want to try this on my countertops. We wanted to get new countertops but can't decide. This gives us an option to try some different colors before putting the expensive ones in
How exciting! I Want to see - please take pictures for me!!! You can share them on my Crafty Organizer page on Facebook: facebook.com/groups/730125317461615/
I've used Contact paper on multiple kitchen counters over the years and it makes a wonderful, long-lasting disguise for unattractive or damaged counters. It stands up well around the sink and stove and in one case I removed it after several years only because I was tired of it--it still looked great. I replaced it with--more Contact paper!
I love the pink marble! Very fun. I have taken the woodgrain contact paper from the dollar store and applied it to many glass jar lids for a woodgrain top idea. I did have to use my heat gun to shrinkwrap it into place. They look very high end especially with cool shaped jars.
Can you show how you did the boxes covered in contact paper to make 3 drawers together? You show it and say you made it with boxes -I need to know how! Thanks a bunch. Priscilla

Second, I was so happy to see you and your daughter working on her first apartment…I remember doing the same thing with my daughter many years ago. As usual, your ideas are the best and I love your delivery. So hello from Austin, Texas…take care, be safe, be sane.
Hi Charlotte!!! It was bitter sweet. So excited for her - and why did she have to grow up so fast!!!! 🤗
Isn’t that the truth…our daughter is 49 years old, and she lets me help her with decorating, e.g., sewing curtains and picking out rugs. @@TheCraftyOrganizer
The counters are great❣
I want to do the marble counter for my kitchen.
Hi, Oats!!!!! Hope you are doing well. They turned out great, didn't they?!?!
I had the same issue with the curve from the counter to backsplash. Definitely just cut and adhere a separate piece. I’m not afraid of layers and seams so pick your battles. 😂
So agree!!!!! Thanks for being here with me.
You did a great job! They are gorgeous now! I have never had much luck with contact paper. Of course, it’s also been years since I tried using it.
It's a little tempermental. But with a little practice and you will be a pro!
I absolutly LOVE that!!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Great job! That's so nice that you and your daughter had bonding time while fixing up her new apartment! 🥰
It was a lot of fun! Thanks for being here with me.
I really love that pink marble. I will remember the heat gun tip. Thanks, as always, for sharing. Those blossom trees were beautiful.
Yay! Was hoping someone would enjoy them. I really did. 💮
Such a fun and informative video! Love the outcome of the counters!
Thank you so much! My daughter is pretty happy with them.
Wow you did an amazing job on the countertops! Can’t wait to see the next videos. Short videos are great.
Thank you so much!
I have 2 teenage grandsons living with me, so accidents happen LOL
Love all your tips and tricks, thans again for sharing
The kitchen counters look amazing - but need to be treated gently! No cutting on them or hot things - kind of like formica! LOL
Temu does some beautiful contact paper and the prices are great!
How funny, I didn't even think of checking Temu!
Ive seen books turned into some beautiful art, better than landfill or burning any day ❤❤❤❤ you do you and ignore the nay sayers xx
I can’t get over how real that contact paper looks. Great job!❤
Right??? I think they look amazing - and super affordable.
The counters are beautiful!❤
Thank you! Thanks for checking in. 💐
Thank you so much!
I bought the wrapping paper holder, and it works great and holds a lot.
Good to know!
Looks like you girls had a blast!! 😯...book pages? Do you need book pages?? Gosh Mini, IF ONLY you knew someone... how much do you need? What colors? Like newer or older with petina? Girl, I'ma hook you up!! 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗
LOL You are so cute... I need the covers (spines specifically) Do you have any of those??????
💐❤️😀
That is so exciting!!!!! You'll have to send me progress pictures!
I love this idea! I would never have guessed it could look so good!
Yay! Glad you liked it - my daughter loves it!
As always, thank you for all you give us.
💐 Thanks for being with me.
Hello! Newbie here to your channel!
Omg, thx for this! I never thought to use contact paper for some of these things!
So glad you liked it!
Oh! What great timing! Please let me know how it goes when you finish!
You have taught me so much about contact paper and you’re right, it’s SO versatile! Thank you, Norrine! 😃
Thank you, Anne!!!!! I'd love to see some of the things you've made! You are so creative. 💜

Hello I used contact paper a long time ago it did work. I shall be using that contact paper again. It is really good.
Yay! Thanks, Carol. Always nice to have you check in. 💜
Thanks. I bought a repo’d mobile home for $22k that is hideous but I am trying to get moved in so I can rent out my sight built home for income. This will help the mobile home be less hideous
OH! I would have so much fun doing that project!!!!!! Please keep me posted.
@@TheCraftyOrganizer I’m stuck. It’s been sitting vacant for two years!! I have a lot of medical issues and haven’t been able to work on it. You’re welcome to come to Texas and play with all the things!!! 😂😂
OMGosh!!! Don't tempt me!!!! LOL I was in Kentucky last week getting to work on an old house!!!
LOL
How exciting!!!! Please take pictures for me!!!
WOW Norrine! The landlord should thank you! Wish I knew this secret in my first apartment many, many moons ago…
I've rented my fair share of pig apartments - I learned how to use lipstick on all of them! LOL
Beautiful video as always! Your daughter’s countertops turned our perfect!
Thank you, my friend! It was nice to get some time with her. 💮
My gosh you’re an expert at contact paper!!❤
Frugality has made me an expert! LOL
I used that same color that contact paper is so nice
The pink or the grey?? She's so happy with it!
This was super helpful! So excited for your daughter and her new place. Nothing like the taste of Independence early in life. Be well and take care! Ang in WA state
It reminded me of my first apartment 💜
I have not used contact paper in quite a few years. My mother used it a lot when I was growing up. I don’t know if the adhesive has changed over the years, but in my experience, it does not come up very easily.
Thanks for showing this, those counters look beautiful.
Yes - if left on for long periods (10 years or more)The material does start to oxidize and removing becomes more difficult.
So it sounds like a good excuse to change it every few years lol. I love changing the look of a space.
So do I!!!!
I totally agree!
I want to try this on my countertops. We wanted to get new countertops but can't decide. This gives us an option to try some different colors before putting the expensive ones in
So true!!!! Especially if it's a new color - try it before you buy it!!!!
💕
I absolutely love the idea of contact paper.. I have some places I can use it that I never thought of. Thanks for another great video
Yay! Thanks for checking in - it's always nice to hear from you.
I haven't used contact papet before. I plan to get some and cover the ugly counters in my kitchen. Thank you for showing us how to do this. ❤😊
How exciting! I Want to see - please take pictures for me!!! You can share them on my Crafty Organizer page on Facebook: facebook.com/groups/730125317461615/
Great job on our daughter’s counters 💕
Contact paper is awesome and so very handy! I like me some good contact paper!!
Me too!!!! Thanks, Cynthia!
Thank you so much for this comment!!!! It's nice to hear another person do this and have success!
I love the pink marble! Very fun. I have taken the woodgrain contact paper from the dollar store and applied it to many glass jar lids for a woodgrain top idea. I did have to use my heat gun to shrinkwrap it into place. They look very high end especially with cool shaped jars.
Oh! I'd love to see those!!!!! I'll bet they look amazing! Thanks for sharing.
WOW!! It is amazing how different it looks! So very helpful!! I am on a budget and this will help so much!!! Thanks so much!!
You are so welcome!
Looks great! I'm going to try some contact paper on my craft desk (an old computer desk that has a black surface).
Take pictures for me!!!!! You can share them to my Crafty Organizer page on Facebook: facebook.com/groups/730125317461615/
Can you show how you did the boxes covered in contact paper to make 3 drawers together? You show it and say you made it with boxes -I need to know how! Thanks a bunch. Priscilla
Love this information! Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Norrine ❤ and congratulations to you and your daughter on her new apartment ❤
