Thanks for posting this video, great camera angle, been retired for awhile, sure brings back the memories, company got some in '88, mine was brand new, great work trucks, probably still working for someone out there.
We had two R models in the early 80’s. Tough as nails. I trained several new drivers with them. They took a lickin’ and kept on tickin’. Indestructible and pulled like a freight train 🚂
Mack of the past was so awesome. They over built most of their stuff, and the R Model trucks seemed to be the most adaptable and capable in their class. I have seen these trucks punch well above their class rating. It is a shame Mack and the big US brands are all a shadow of what they used to be.
@@deborahchesser7375 that old green metal dashboard, seats bolted to the ground, no air ride, a truck that used to be red that faded to pink lettered for RI Busse...I loved every minute of it, pulling recycled concrete all over the Chicago suburbs
That door rattle is amazing those old Mack’s had a smell to them also some diesel a whiff of gear oil there’s something about the old Bulldogs a lot of the newer drivers today will never experience that
Ugh, I certainly don't miss the tight roads and endless traffic in Delco! I grew up in South Jersey but my dad's family are from Delco (he grew up just off of route 1), and we would go up there to visit them almost every weekend when I was a kid. Traffic seems 10 times worse now in Delco than it was even 10-15 years ago - I hate driving through those areas with my F-250 but I couldn't imagine doing it with an R-model and lowboy. Great handling on those tight streets and a great sounding Mack too!
This was sights and sounds of my childhood, hauling home heating oil with my dad in his 86 R in southwestern PA. Even the turn signal buzz took me back. Can definitely tell you're on roads in Pennsylvania, haha. Penn DOT scared of or doesn't know how to use a road milling machine to make the roads smooth. Ah enough negativity, great video! The R sounds very healthy.
Que maravilla de sonido. Mi padre conducía un precioso Mack Dm600 que transportaba arroz en la empresa donde trabajaba y yo me iba de pequeño con el. Hoy llevo tatuado ese camión en mi espalda en su honor. Mack n° 21!
Amazing video man I just subscribe to your channel I love the sound of your truck. Can you see if you can do more like this one longer and see if you can do it ASMR style look what you did in this video except in the next one and include a start up that would be really amazing. Thanks man love your truck stay safe
Too bad Pennsylvania is such a state with flat roads. NOT! I've been thru some of those small towns and villages. Barely enough room to drive a car down some of those streets. You can't be in a hurry. Too many hazards to negotiate. Excellent Job!
What year is that Bulldog Mack I drive a 1988 R model tandem dump endt 676 285 with a 12 spd I love those good old R models strong and reliable that looks like a 12 spd gearbox great great trans
My first taste of driving was in a 75’ DM800 300 plus 15 speed tri plex and #55,000 bogies what a tough ol girl she was. Great vid brings back memories
Ain't nothing better than seeing a PA built truck doing the work it's supposed to in our home state. Greetings from SW PA.

Yeh they underrated and overbuilt the real Mack’s, and nothing stays together off-road like a Bulldog either 🐾✌️🇺🇸
Nice driving! Reminds me of being a kid riding with my dad
Nothing beats those memories, at least for me. Thanks for reminding me buddy, what I’d give to go back for a few more rides ✌️

You nailed it, overbuilt they were, I’ve stared at the Bulldogs ass many a day, that ol 237 letting it all hang out.
the one who knows knows, that macks are truly the best trucks of their time, paystar comes in to play (hendrickson S leaf spring setup only)

I’ll still hear that door rattle when im dead lol
@@BigCool95 Lolol me to
To fix that rattle you need to adjust the lower part of the striker assembly.
@@504ihtractor7 the bolt holes in the door are all messed up and the latch bolts keep coming loose. I tack welded it in place
Can feel the power! Great Video! I love the Mack inline six!

Mack Attack!👍😎
Think Mack! New subscriber.
Thanks for the ride.
The classic harsh ride, of a mack camel back suspension.
Only thing that gets tired at the end of the day is the driver, those Mack’s will beat you senseless but just won’t quit.

I'd love to drive a truck like this
