Great video as always, Grady! One independent artist I would suggest is Sam Outlaw. According to his social media he finished recording a new album in March and is set to announce a release date soon. He’s got a great voice, uses steel in his sound, and writes some pretty excellent songs. His best three songs, in my opinion, are Ghost Town, Trouble, and Country Love Song.

Feedback: when you refer to another video (i.e. the Avengers one) it would be great if you could link to it (either in-video or in comments). Not only is this a great service to your viewers it also helps the RUclips-algorithm quickly figure out that that video is a good follow up video to recommend to viewers of the video (after enough ppl click the link). In this case it seems enough people looked it up manually to make it show up, but it's still pretty far down the recommended list.

It seems like he spitefully ignores him because Ben's fans have been pestering him to acknowledge Benjamin Tod/Lost Dog forever now. He replied to one of my comments paraphrasing slightly "they're niche aren't they?" I don't remember exactly what he said but it's like "idk dude decide for yourself". And I know he would find at least some songs that he'd enjoy because he's always praising artists like Zach Bryan (Bryan is great, not a diss) for his "truth". If there ever was an artist known for their truth, it's fu****g Benjamin Tod

Gabe Lee, Emily Scott Robinson, Yola & Ian Noe were my big 4 discoveries in 2019 (I think Gabe Lee really is the future of country! He’s a great songwriter, but he also does a variety of country styles and knocks them all out of the park!) One of my friends put me onto a band called Shaker Hymns last year. Not sure how big they’ll get, but they’re a great Texas country/rock band (along with RK & MATM.) Also, just now getting on the Flatland Cavalry and Kaitlin Butts train, but they’re also great!

First off Tyler Childers turned me into a country music fan. I grew up in the 70s being forced to listen to country music. I would be in the back seat of the car getting car sick while Willie Nelson played on the radio on family road trips. I think I associated nausea with CW music. Spent a lot of years denying myself the joy that is country music. However, I’ve always loved bluegrass! The banjo, fiddle, mandolin, a stand up bass…LOVE! So when I saw this video I immediately looked up the Appalachian/Bluegrass artists. Already a fan of Billy Strings, who I love, I looked up Cole Chaney and he did not disappoint. I tell everyone to look up Cole Chaney. Every song on his album Mercy is great. My personal favorite is ‘Leave’ then ‘Humble Enough to Hear’ and then all the songs! Lol. I hope this guy gets the credit he deserves. He is so good!

Hey Grady, loved the video!!! But I got a suggestion for ya. I don't know if you know or if you're a fan of the punk genre, but there's something I'm noticing these days. First off, collaborations between two genres are inevitable. My mind is also blown when I realized this since country and punk are two genres I love, and they both have a lot of similar characteristics but in terms of longevity in the mainstream they're different since country is still going up and less artists are making punk rock music nowadays. The pop × country collaborations are obviously more popular but this one's rare especially that I'm seeing less newer neon punk music nowadays. Last year Hayley Williams and Kacey Musgraves covered Cyndi Lauper's Girls I Just Wanna Have Fun in a live event. Also last year Cassadee Pope reunited Hey Monday in the Grand Ole Opry. Last month Boys Like Girls' guitarist Paul DiGiovanni made a song with Justin Moore. A few months ago Caylee Hammack performed Everclear's I Will Buy You A New Life with its vocalist Art Alexasis. This week Bruce Springsteen has a song with The Killers titled "Dustland." Is the punk community and the country community actually getting closer and closer nowadays? Can you make a video about this? Will be very appreciated brother!!!

Over the past5 to 8 years I've come across many new artists that have impressed me very much. Just a few are Wahl, Childers, Moreland, Strings and James and Stapleton. Some very good voices to go with the music.

Shane Smith and the Saints! If you like Ryan Bingham and the Turnpike Troubadours then 💥 great voice, A LOT of fiddle and great music. Their live performances are insanely good! They have 3 albums out. In my opinion, I really didn’t feel the first one, but their last two, 🤯

I love them! I prefer their first two albums over their most recent. "Coast", "Quite Like You", "Nights of Austin", and "Dance the Night Away" stand out to me on their first album.

Caamp, Ira Wolf, Trampled by Turtles are true gems that are classified as Folk/Americana, though I believe that many of indie country fans would love their music. From the pure country scene I would definitely name Shane Smith & the Saints and Grady Spencer & The work that are missing on the list.

Great list! I seen about half of these at the Laurel Cove Music Festival this past weekend. Which by the way was phenomenal!! But one you didn't mention, who is my all time favorite artist/artists and also played at the Laurel Cove Music Festival, is Benjamin Tod/Lost Dog Street Band. Him and Ashley have been around for a long time and have made a huge buzz but they keep flying just under the radar. We need more people like yourself, with some influence, to get his/their name out there more, to get more people to look into them and check them out. I would say ones to check out by Ben himself would be, "Using Again" or "We Ain't Even Kin." This one will be a hard one for me because I literally love every single song, but as for his group Lost Dog Street Band, I would say probably, "Hells Canyon" or "War Inside of Me." To be honest, every single song by them is just amazing though. Especially the older stuff with Nicolas Ridout before he passed.

I love that you gave another shout out to Charles Wesley Godwin. In fact, I've been working in the same studio where he recorded Seneca and with a guy who worked on that album and who plays in his band. So, all that considered, if I can do something that's even a fraction as good as what he did, I'll be happy. 😊
