I'm now on my way with much gratitude to you! A beautiful walk through...succinct and concise. Thankyou so very much. Deeply appeciate your time and effort to invest in the education of others. Cheers 😉
Thank you guys so much. I'm composing and conducting a musical but a majority of the performance is going to be on keyboards playing orchestral sounds. this was a very helpful intro for MainStage and answered my main questions!!! excellent content. I am going to subscribe.
If you’re on a tight budget you could pair an M1 Mac Mini with an ASUS Zen Screen and have a great set up. The Mini has way more ports than a MacBook too. I’ve the 16GB model and it handles everything I throw at it.
Please do a video showing how to incorporate external modules into a MainStage concert. Show how program changes and other cc midi commands can be sent to external modules and then blended with internal vst’s and MainStage/logic sounds. Thank you.
Hiya David, just a quick one to say hello from North Wales (UK) and thanks a lot for these tutorials mate. I'm not religious but I came across your content after buying a 2020 Macbook Air recently, with the intention of using it - MainStage particularly - for live gigs with my band, etc. I've used Logic for years but MainStage is a very different and confusing ball game, I was surprised by how difficult I found getting my head around even just some of the most basic functions tbh. I don't often comment on YT vids but your stuff has been *massively* helpful to me, so it seemed only right that I should thank you. So err..... thank you :) Kindest regards from sunny (yeah ok) Wrexham, Maff :D
Hi Matt, glad we could help! MainStage can be frustrating when you are just starting out. We do also have a free mainstage basics course if you need more tips: sundaysounds.com/pages/mainstage-basics-course
Just getting back into playing at church after 8yrs. And my concern would being able to layer say Piano/Pads or Strings, but also being able to adjust bringing in said layers as needed.
It seems crazy that with all this information about Mainstage, I can't find out if I can run Mainstage on Ipad alone. Anybody know if this is possible?
Hey guys. I've been running MainStage/Logic on this 2011 17" MacBook Pro for years. I still use the original equip I bought back in 2012. My used Novaton SL61 mk2 I bought from Guitar Center is probably the oldest, yet it's still going strong. This 17", the laptop I am on now, is limited to OS 10.13.6 because of the CPU through. Even my 2013 iPad, used with the Logic remote connected to show more mixer channels, I still use. I guess I'll have to upgrade someday. Yet, so far, so good! Peace...Guy
Great video David. Glad I bought it Saturday. Thank for help getting it to work with my mid-2012 MacBook Pro 2.3 Quad core intel i7 16gb memory. Glad M1 isn’t required.
I'm looking for clear information: Can Mainstage work in a composition studio environment on a second Mac computer as a HOST for AU instruments? My studio scenario: MacPRO 5.1 Mojave (central, DAW Nuendo or Logic Pro) and a second iMAC computer (with Mainstage). MIDI connection is via ipMIDI (20 ports x 16 Midi Ch) or via native IAC. In short, is it possible to define 16 instrument strips with separate MIDI channels (1-16) on one PATCH in Mainstage? Defining 16 PATCHs - each with a different MIDI port, and therefore placing 16 keyboard pictures in the LAYOUT tab is quite difficult and impractical.
David, thank you for such informative content. My children have been our organists at church for 3 years now and I am attempting to build a practice organ for them at home. Can you give me some pointers for Mainstage. I need to connect two midi keyboards and a midi pedalboard to Mainstage and I need to be able to set organ registration individually to the three midi devices. Is that possible?
Brother I have old version mainstage 3. 3,5 but now when I’m trying to play my patches in new M2 Mac mini with old version only Kontakt sounds are showing empty multi ???? All the required libraries I have installed and they are coming in the rack … brother please help me
Regarding the Sound creation with Main Stage I wonder if it is possible to use other (non apple) sound libraries with Main Stage such as KONTAKT LIBRARIES etc?
does sunday keys come with references to actual songs? I am looking for something to pick to match the songs we have without spending my week trying to figure out the right sound for this weeks set.
What about output? How do you get your sound out of your USB audio interface and into the room? I tried plugging a ¼ inch instrument cable between my UA VOLT 276’s output, and the input jack of my Boss Katana, and it sounded shrill and awful. Obviously, I tried to dial in a clean and uncolored sound on the amp. It sounds great when I connect my UA VOLT to my Presonus powered studio monitors. Do you just take your studio monitors on the road with you, instead of an amp? Or do you plug straight from your USB audio interface into the house’s sound board? If you go this route, how do you get a little stage monitoring of the sounds coming through your computer and USB audio interface? Thanks!
Thanks for your comment. The vast majority of folks run their audio interface output to the soundboard directly, either via a cable, into a stage box, or similar. If you need some monitoring on stage most churches rely on either stage wedges or an in-ear monitoring system. Hope that helps!
I'm wondering - is there a way where I can use Logic Pro X's live loop, have a dedicated hardware mapped for triggering the loops, but then route (clock sync as well) that into Mainstage and use Mainstage purely for playing my live keys? I would setup all the patches in MainStage. I don't want to use Mainstage's playback as i find it's not very good, also I'm creating like a 25-30min non-stop set where I'm going to be doing mash-ups of different songs and require the flexibility of live loops?
How come i cant see the patchlist furthest to the left? I can only se the patchlist that is visable in performance mode.(the one in black, white and yellow) I catn figure out how to add a new patch… I asume something has changed reacently?
I BOUGHT MAINSTAGE 3 on my Mac book Pro I SADLY CANNOT GET IT TO MY I PAD VIA AIR DROP OR LOGIC OR I CLOUD I AM FRUSTRATED IT DOESN’T SHOW UP IN THE APP STORE ON MY I PAD pro OS 16.4.1 HELP
You showed how to connect the keyboard to the computer but not the Nano controller. Also showing how to assign these 2 peripherals in the settings menu would be helpful.
I have already connected my keyboard to audio interface with the USB-MIDI cable, also interface connected to computer through USB Here comes a question, in my church, our sound system is using wireless transmitter to make instruments connected to mixer, and I plug transmitter into the output of interface, but there's still no sound come out from speakers, what should I do to fix it out? Could Sunday Sounds or someone help me ? thanks.
If you plug in an amp instead of the wireless transmitter , is there audio mainstage output coming out of the Jack? Might need to check mainstsge audio settings? Good luck

Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Thank you for explaining in full detail. As a beginner I benefited.
Thanks for mentioning we need a Mac, right off the bat. The other videos that I wasted an hour watching, did not mention that.

You don’t need a new Silicon chip Mac to run this. I run a live rig more sophisticated than this with Logic Pro on a 2012 Macbook I5. Works perfect
Please if I have a Windows how can I use it
@@ernestessakaofficiel You can't. MainStage only runs on mac OS computers. Not Windows.

Hi .. How to solve the unexpected note off command not kicking problem in mainstage? İt couse a disaster during performance .. thank all
Hello David can you please make a tutorial like this for Ableton Live also
Superb tutorial! Does MainStage come with its soft instrument patches, or is it using the Logic Pro's sets? Thank you for sharing.
MainStage and Logic share the same instruments and effects library

Is intel Mac book pro not compatible?

does it HAVE to be a mac? wahat about like windows or dell? are the latest of those computers not good enough? thanks !
There are other alternatives for PCs like Gig Performer and Ableton Live to host your VSTs
What do you think David - Mainstage vs Ableton Live??
I want to purchase the templates you made
is it possible to use midi files you have triggering the sounds from main stage?
You showed how to connect the keyboard to the computer but not the Nano controller. Also showing how to assign these 2 peripherals in the settings menu would be helpful.
the process is the same for the nanokontrol2, connect it to your computer and assign to workspace controls in layout mode.
you should do this for ableton live users
Not working with Logic Remote
How do u delete the display items?
Is there a phone number I can call??? I am playing tomorrow at church
Hello! I’m having trouble connecting my Yamaha motif es6 to my iMac. I’m trying to use Sunday sounds can somebody help me?
Most Yamaha keyboards require a driver to be installed, check your models user manual for midi connections.
Hi David. Mainstage must use macbock computer?..
Correct, MainStage is developed by Apple and only available on Mac.
You can run AUs live in this like Gband or Logic, yes?
You can use Garage Band or Logic, but those are designed more for recording, MainStage is focused on live performance.
@@SundaySounds Thank you! I meant, can I use my 3rd party synth plug ins with Mainstage and intermingle them with the Mainstage sounds? Thanks

Does it really gotta be MacBook Airr

How about us pc user? Give us justice, what should we do
