I guessed them all not even looking at quality because you used same lens :D. Every background object was a bit larger on a6400 because you changed distance and background compression was more pronounced.

Awesome video, as always. Personally, I think people are way too preoccupied with the level of background blur, to the point of that being more important than an actual story, but that's just me. ;) But it's obvious a full frame camera has advantages, and I think the most important advantages are the battery life, better codecs for editing, and I guess the dynamic range, although if you expose things properly in a camera like the a6400, you can definitely do professional work with it, and so, yeah, "like, for real", it just never ends. It's nice to have the best, the highest, the most technically proficient tools, but you can do great work if you don't have all of that, too. I was working on a film recently, a high budget project, just as an actor, and they were using an old vintage lens for a scene that I was in, and I asked the director how much that lens cost, and he said, "$68 on Ebay". lol. Having said that, I'm POSITIVE I'm upgrading to a full frame camera in the coming year. lol again. I guess, because, at the end of the day, the more you learn, and the better you get with your craft, the more you want tools that can grow with you, and create more possibilities for you with the added capabilities of that gear, even if it's not something that precludes you from doing great work without upgrading, it's good to upgrade if you are able, and have the desire to keep pushing the proverbial ceiling higher and higher, little by little with each new upgrade. I think if you look at it like that, like "I'm gonna squeeze everything out of this piece of equipment, until I feel limited by it, and then I'll upgrade again", then that's an awesome path for an artist.

Great comparison! I did find I preferred the images from the A7C in your video better, but it was always pretty subtle ans came down to shape and quality of bokeh, and in at least one case I preferred the A6400. Thanks for putting this together!

Literally got everything right but this is because I know how light works on the different sensors and also there was a massive giveaway between the images which was the difference in the distance of separation between the background to the foreground. But if there wasn't a comparison between the two, I would literally see no difference between full frame and aps-c. And if you're a photographer, regular clients won't see the difference either. Loved the video btw!!!

Rolling shutter helped me on rounds 2 & 6 as well. I have both, & the a6400 is a great b cam. I got my a7C for about $1500 body only, which I think is a solid deal. I also only do video, so the updates to the AF were nice as well. & that gyro stabilization, albeit slow to export, is pretty amazing!

It certainly depends on what your end product is photo or video and what the final use for those products will be. I wouldn't spend the extra money to go full frame to produce only RUclips content -- but there are people out there that will buy an Arri or hight-end Red to shoot only RUclips content ... There is a big difference in NEED and WANT

The funny thing is, for me, I use both of these cameras. The A7C is the primary, and when a subject is a tad bit too far or I know I can't position myself in time: I grab the A6400 with a sigma 56mm f1.4. The crop factor essentially turns it into an 85mm portrait/telephoto and although the images don't come out as "bright" or as sharp as the full frame (pixel peeping here): There's a certain mood and ambience that the slightly muted tones created by the A6400 that till this day, I absolutely adore. Besides, it's the lens that really counts; and for being close to 1K cheaper than a full frame camera, I still love my A6400 as much as the day I bought it.

While the bokeh on full frame is slightly better since the camera can be positioned closer to the subject as you said, I actually thought that it creates unnatural distorted look of the subject. I found the apsc examples to have a more natural compressed look, which I find more pleasing and more important than how much bokeh it has. This is really obvious in the example @2:58

Now started debating about upgrading m50 to eos r6 but… I’m not able at the moment due to r6 price and insane r glass prices 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ hehe need to just use what I have, m50 has amazing colours straight out of the camera but lack of dual pixel autofocus in 4K as well as crop so… anyway need A7c for good 4K and more!

That was fun and I appreciated all your rehearsal to get it just right. One thing- it is obvious that you are looking at your flip out screen to check if you are in focus ( fair enough). This is disconcerting to the viewer as you are not making direct eye contact with them. Try trusting Sony's auto focus and look directly at the camera lens instead as if you were speaking to us through the lens ( an actor's trick!) It will make your video more professional looking and will engage your audience.

I love my APS-C. The biggest draw for me has been the form factor and weight. I was at a photography show here in the UK and literally drooled over the A7C. I would love to own that as my main body, but alas, with the budget not allowing it, I will have to continue with the A6400 that I own for the time being.

I'm no expert in photography but I think that aside from the obvious bokeh differences, the full frame just does better at showing details on the darker parts of the video. Full frame also looks better straight out of the camera, which I'm assuming what these comparisons are, but also not that much of a big deal since you can alter colors in post.

I don't know all differences, but the main thing would probably be the resolution will be lower in crop mode on the A7C, it's something around 11mp. The rest should be more or less the same like using an apsc cam

Im getting zve10 and this video solidified it. Im not going to be printing billboards or filming for nerds. Even general consumer will be impressed with apsc.
Maybe landscapes might be challenging but for double the money. Its not double the result. Id say a7c is only 5% better. Not worth full frame unless you are starting a business and alot of money is exchanged.

Great video man! I made this exact switch a few months ago and haven't looked back. To be fair I would've kept the a6400 as a B cam, but I'm not super rich 😂
Aside from depth of field, a huge advantage of the a7c is its performance advantage at high ISOs. Up until iso 6400, its relatively close. But for video, I found you can get somewhat usable images up to even 25,600 on the a7c. I made a video comparing all the ISOs: ruclips.net/video/yag1NZOsIzE/видео.html
The other thing is there are now tons of relatively small full frame lenses like Samyang's tiny series and Sigma's I series. This means you can start with a crop body and upgrade later without needing to swap out all your lenses like I did lol.
Lastly, the battery life. The Z batteries are a whole other universe. The a6600 has them I know, but if you have the a6400, the a7c represents better value than the a6600 I think.

I agree with everything you mentioned! And yes, I super love the battery life the Sony a7c 🔥🔥🔥
