What Sony camera are you currently shooting with?
a6400
a6400. Dude, that comparison at 00:50 is bad. a6700 looks like trash and a64700 looks much better, but i think its a typo and should have been 6400. Also, a6700 is overexposed, and that's the problem
A6400
Just bought the a6400 used for less then 600euros, a thousand saved since the a6700 comes out at 1700 euros, I’m enjoying this little but super powerful camera and maybe I’m the only person in the world to prefer the flip up screen
Great video!
a6700
I have the A6700 and it's a massive improvement over my A6400 - but, if you are starting out then get the A6400 and glass! Spend the cash on lenses that you can use when you upgrade. Lenses are WAY more important than the camera body.
So many good lenses to choose from too!
What lens would you suggest to an absolute beginner who is just starting out?
@@cambridgeoalevels6460go for sigma 30mm f1.4 as prime or sony 18-105 for all rounder both are one of cheap lenses for emounts
@banditalley9592 I also have a6400, and planning to upgrade to a6700.
Did you test/notice any improvement in low light performance with a6700 (with normal mode, unlike night/low noise mode) ???
@@cambridgeoalevels6460 Sigma 18-50mm F/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Sony E, look it up, so many great reviews. Improvement over standard kit lens. I am also interested in: Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC, evaluating after seeing some videos.
This is one of the best comparisons i have seen. You are awesome!
I appreciate the feedback. Thank you!
Got my A6400 open box with a shutter count of 2 for $650 plus taxes and shipping. Worth every penny. If you’re a beginner with a decent budget, the A6400 is the way to go. Got a 2 kit lens, a vintage lens, a dispolens, and a cage for about another $250. All used but they still function like normal. You can find a deal for the A6400 but you definitely need to search into the crevices of the internet.
Thank you Mike for the helpful and informative comparison video! God bless and keep creating!
Thank you!
Would u recommend the sonya6400 or Sony a6700 for live streaming? I currently have a Sonya6000 n it gets super pixelated when live :((
The a6000 should still hold up. Perhaps the internet connection just isn’t strong enough? Is it 1080 video?
@@MikeBSalazar I have 1k upload and download and yeah it is! But eventually I do wanna upgrade and was wondering what’s better as a webcam
1000kbps? Not 1000mbps?
The image quality is good coming out of your camera. Esp if you light yourself. I don’t believe investing in any of these cameras would be worth it just for live streaming unless its a workflow thing vs image quality.
Currently on the A6000 and considering upgrading to the A6400 or the A6700 - this was very helpful in deciding. Thanks a lot!
You’re very welcome!
Dude get the A6700
Hey mate, love the video. New to photography and looking for my first camera. Been eyeing out the a6700 but is quite expense. But I'm willing to fork it out if it means i dont need to upgrade for a long time. (Use till break).
I mainly looking to do car, travel, landscapes and night time photography.
Do you think its still good to go for the a6700 for the long run? Or any other suggestions?😊
Only do a6700 if you really want the video spec bump but it photos is more your intent then a6400 is plenty.
I have been wanting to upgrade from my action cameras(gopro and osmo action.
I do like the compactness of the action cameras xD.
Do you recommend the 6700 or the fx30?
Depends on your needs. I like the fx30 for paid work with dual sd cards and ergonomics. A6700 i like for casual every day stuff and also the mechanical shutter.
I’m still rocking my a6400 and I’ve had it nearly a year and a half now. I was sooo wanting to upgrade to the 6700, but your vid made me comfortable in knowing that I still have a very good camera in the 6400. I will eventually buy the 24-70gm ll lens for my camera, which will (hopefully) take my photos to the next level and then invest in a Full Frame camera.
Oh! Then definitely save for that! You could probably get away with even with the first GM but yeah, man! Do you have an idea what full frame you’ll upgrade to?
@@MikeBSalazar maybe the A7C ll
Bigs lens like the 24-70 and only want the a7c? not the a7iv?@@brettyg76
@@MikeBSalazar yea I like the more compact cameras… and the A7C ll has all the latest tech
6400 is good only change in 6700 color and u can do it in software or in camera log
Hey! I have the a6000. I am not interested in videos but would an upgrade to the a6700 be good for low light and autofocus? Thinking especially of wildlife photography. Thank you!
I wouldnt think the low light and autofocus would be that noticeable if you havent been having problems.
The denoise ai feature of adobe is excellent if you use that.
But if you’re missing focus often on your animals, then sure the ai animal tracking is good to have.
0:43 what's this lens cover? More importantly, I have sony zv e10 that I've used for about 2 years. But I simply miss having a viewfinder. I mostly do still photography - day and night cityscapes - and short (10-15 minute) videos. Which upgrade would you suggest? 6400 or 6700 or something else? My budget is 1200 max. Thank you!
Kondor blue body cap. Unless you’re getting the a6700 used, a6400 is your bet. Unless you really need those video upgrades/features just stick to a6400.
@@MikeBSalazar thank you so much! 🙏🏾
Thanks for comparing these. Did you notice any improvement in low light (without any night/low noise mode) in a6700 as it comes with back illuminated sensor?
Also with activie stabilization it crops a bit, so is it not using the full size of the sensor with that setting, would it affect the pixel size?
If it is so then enabling that may impact noise levels, right?
I wouldn’t say there is a low noise mode or anything like that. It’s just the sensor. If I crank up the ISO, I tried to keep it at 2500 but I will even go up to 6400 if I need to.
I’m not sure about affecting the pixel size, but the amount of pixels use perhaps. If anything, it’s more noticeable when using 4K 120.
@@MikeBSalazar Thanks for the response.
Basically what I simply wanted to understand that due to difference in sensor. Is a6700 any better in low light when compared to a6400 without any low noise mode?
Example: a photo taken using a6700 at night at ISO say 4000 (in normal mode) would be less noisy compared to a6400 ???
@@Vicky-il5yvif you want better low light performance just get the a7c. Almost the same price as a6700
@@HeLithium Naa.. actually a7c only records 4K @24/30 fps which I can't compromise with a new camera 😀, I need atleast 4K 60fps and 10 bit is also good to have (a7c lacks that as well).
a7c2 would be great pick, but I would not like to invest that much being a hobbyist.
Thus a6700 is good for me thus I wanted to understand the improvement in low light with the newer back illuminated sensor.
if you are using a stabilized lense (17-70 sigma for example) on the a6400 and u work with davinci for stabilisation, u wont have any problems with shaky footage.
I have this exact combo and i can film buttersmooth footage even handheld
I heard the 17-70 Tamron was a great lens as well.
I owned the a6400 and at SLOG, its Native ISO is at 800, not 100. 😊
Ah yes! That’s the exception!
you make great comparisons, please make a video comparing the a6700 with the a6600!
Thanks for the feedback. I unfortunately don’t have an a6600 to compare with anymore.
Pointless as the 6600 is no different to the 6400 just bigger battery and ibis
What are the little red and black charms you have on your camera? Always wondered
They're quick release anchors for camera strap accessories from Peak Design.
So, I have a 6400 and I am planning to start a pre-wedding film studio. The way you have outlined it's features, it is going to fall short. As I am going to need the stabilization, multiple sd cards and the longer shoot times (full frame doesn't hurt either). At the same time, I think from the photos it has taken, it is good enough for the photos that I am going to deliver. As well as all the recci and mock-shoot that I am going to do. So what I am thinking is to rent an a7 S 3 for a day to shoot the film and then use this camera for everything else.
Which makes me think who is the 6700 for? If you want something as your daily camera 6400 and the z series is good enough. If you want to deliver on your client work, it is better to spring for a full frame sensor camera. And the 6700 is nearly as expensive as an A7 iv and you might even find an a7 iii second hand for cheaper with lenses for cheaper. The same can be said for an a 7 s2 if you specifically want video. What is an a 6700 even there for?
@@abmstudio3678 a7iii even new is now cheaper but is 8 bit vs the 10 bit and plenty of newest features of the a6700.
will a gimball fix some of the isues (stabilization) when recording video with the a6400? Specialy moving from one side to side.
There is no stabilization built into the a6400. So a gimbal is practically a must if you will be doing those kind of movements.
if you are using a stabilized lense (17-70 sigma for example) on the a6400 and u work with davinci for stabilisation, u wont have any problems with shaky footage.
I have this exact combo and i can film buttersmooth footage even handheld
Sony a6700 or Can R50 ? Else Sony a6400 or Canon r50 ? Which would be the best? My requirement is mainly for casual photography. And mainly looking for recent launch models.
I’m not familiar with the Canon system but if you’re mostly focused on photography, the a6100 may be better for you. A6400 adds more video features.
Really nice cameras. My a6000 got bricked after 2 years. Will be getting a a6400 now. ty
Ouch i would have thought they would have more life than that 😔
Hello! What mic and cage can you recommend for the Sony A6400?
I'm generally recommending any Falcam cages as they're good for both horizontal and vertical shooting.
So helpful. Thanks.
Thanks for stoppin by!
Hmm. I have the a6400. Only missing out on the image stabilization bothers me. I shot B-roll handheld at 120fps a few times and the was unsolvable in post. Still happy with the a6400, as it is only for shooting video testimonials.
I know that struggle. I don’t often carry around a gimbal, but when I do, it comes in handy.
I see you got the micro clutch on the a6700! Is yours the L plate or I plate?
This was the L plate
Can we customize our a6100 (c1) button
To a puase and resume button
??????????
Pause and resume for video playback?
Do they use the same lenses?
Yes
Does the a700 have ac power supply for long video coverage?
Power supply is good, but it depends if it’ll overheat on you within an hour or so.
i have the a6000. I dont want to spend way too much. Would the a6400 be a good upgrade?
yes, the a6400 would be an excellent upgrade for the video features and still have great photography ergonomics as well.
I have the a6000 would the a6400 be good for upgrade? Im only into photography.
Good for face auto focus. Maybe if you want to take time lapse photos with the built-in feature.
Great video. I have been using a 6400 for a while. I am really wanting to upgrade to the 6700!
If you are a video person, its a worthy upgrade for sure.
The sony a6400 has not heating up issues whatsoever. I used the 6400 since it came out. Unfortunately we cannot say the same for the a6700 particularly when shooting at 4k 60.
Yeah 4k overheating is a different beast as we turn up the FPS 😅
@@MikeBSalazar i guess
The biggest issue imo is that 6400 has terrible rolling shutter issue. What about 6700?
7:23 you said you don't recommend either of these cameras for podcasts. I'm primarily looking for a good camera which has no video recording limit (because podcast!) and prefer a budget option. Which ones do you recommend?
Panasonic g85 if your on a budbet
@@heyyall1790 we have G80 in the UK but recording stops every 30mins and new file every 4GB
These cameras would be fine if you're recording for up to an hour, or if you're doing like a remote podcast and are recording something through like OBS. But if you're long winded it's almost cheaper to just buy a camcorder.
Where are those camera caps from? 🔥
Kondor blue
So a 6700 better for blogging than 6400
They’re both food for vlogging, its just that you need an attachment for the a6400 if you want to mount a microphone AND be able to see yourself.
but 6400 does not have stabilization@@MikeBSalazar
I have a Canon 1300 D should i Upgrade to 6400 oder next to 6700?🙈
Depending what you shoot. But a6400 is a good entry with lenses.
@@MikeBSalazar or the 6600?😂
fire video man!
Appreciate it! Thank you!
I didn’t expect to see a pop! cover here😭
Sorry bout that
May have been more informative had you posted your video in 4k. I found it difficult to decipher the difference in quality between the two cameras on my 4K monitor. Also, one of the sample comparisons mislabeled the cameras. Good topic though.
Yeah smh at that mislabeling. Thought I exported the correct version.
Thanks for the feedback!
How to charge
I prefer to buy a dual charger for more batteries otherwise through the USB port on the side.
Dont forget that the processor is so much better than the a6400/a6600. More features than just human and animal eye af. Also its more advanced and sticks to the subject better than previous models. Thats why I upgraded from the a6600. Plus it has the best grip of all A6xxx series and a front wheel dial for the first time.
I definitely love that front dial too. Thanks for the insight, as I have only used the 6600 for a little little bit.
I'm beginner's my first camera sony a6000, I used kit lens, sony 35mm F1.8 and sony FE 85mm f1.8.
I want to upgrade but I'm skint 😂
Hahahaha. No rush, these cameras will wait for you.
Why is there a lot of contrast difference while shooting the face?
I was shocked myself when I left it on auto. I might have set the metering mode to +1.
@@MikeBSalazar Both cameras are set to auto?
Thanks for that. Not interested in video so I guess the 6400 is for me.
You’re welcome. If you don’t need the viewfinder and value a flip screen more, others also prefer the Sony ZV-E10.
Wow it tracks the eye when model turned around! Can I track the eye behind a closed door too? Hahaha, great video 🙌🏽
Hahaha now that would be scary. Maybe for smaller props haha
No flash on the 6700?
No, sir
Question is if A6700 has as fast AF as A6400.
I hardly notice a difference, if anything, the Eye-AF is more reliable on the A6700 with the AI.
@@MikeBSalazar Eye - AF doesn`t interes me at all. But maybe I should have asked about AF lag when in AF-C mode.
I didn't notice a drastic difference between the two when it came to AF.@@Aleksdraven
Omg sony no pop out flash really not making cameras for every situation so disappointing!!why would you not recommend a pop up flash if your on holiday if you want to use a fill flash u just cant because sony cheaping out money saving.bump up the iso and have noise in pictures no thanks cameras need built-in flashes to be truly flexible otherwise just use my flagship phone
Interesting point of view. The flash can come in clutch when least expected.
The 6700 looks way more yellowish in terms of skin tone compared to 6400!
Useless upgrading for photography
Video really is the main reason for the upgrade for sure.
dude, there are many errors in your video,,, many times you are saying a6700 and the video is showing a6400 ,,, and then a67400,,, and the information about IBIS, you showing a6700 footage and talking about a6400... so confusing and not trust worthy take.
Thanks for the feedback. Will improve on this for future reviews
Lack of usb-c, no fully articulated lcd, tragic menu disqualify 6400 in my opinion. I wonder why people are still buying it..
Hard to recommend but in the end the budget and system may define the choice.
Do some research on how to make comparison videos. It's just so chaotic and not structured. There's so much to improve on the actual script part of your videos lol.
Thanks for the feedback. Will continue to adjust.
