Jeep 4.0 Budget "In Frame" Engine Rebuild - Part 2

Assessing the damage that 295k miles did on this old and tired engine. Im not even sure how the pistons got that messed up, or how I was able to put 1000 miles on it in this state, but the 4.0 doesnt care!

You are lucky that 6th piston didn't start to come apart, that would have been curtains for that 4.0L

nice helpful video - how many miles on the engine ? Did you have a knocking noise ?

238k something, a LOT

@@ConnorsCorner1I have 100k on my 00 XJ with a similiar knocking/slap noise. I was gonna run it till it blew up but after watching this….I might try in frame rebuild rather than blow it up. I got a little shitbox Honda as a daily so no rush. What’s the biggest piece of advice you found while doing this?

I did this DNJ gave me a STD .010 that was mixed in with a STD main bearings I had to put the old one back in now I have a rear main leak again I'm pretty sure it's do to main bearings wearing back in place moved the crank wore the rear seal out I am having to go back in and replace mains pain💯 engine runs great after the refresh tho I had a problem removing the main with the sleeve how did u get it out?

Yeah. Luckily she held together! I was easy on the go pedal, but surprised it didn’t rip that piston in half
