iptik How does it look fake? They're just friends chillin, they even make mistakes and random jokes, what did you expect a bunch of dudes writing songs to look like?
+Lee Harper metallica draws a lot of defensive nutjobs like you for some reason. to answer the other guy it looks fucking fake because their demeanor and dialogue is clearly muted and altered for the camera. Just Some Dudes Hangin out never looks like that.
They are freaking writing. What do you expect? Besides that, stop fucking making assumptions all the time. This is an EDITED video. There is stuff we don't see and experience. You are literally no different than those who said the album is shit before it came out. Like as if you heard it.
Lars seems to put the most energy into the meet and greets with the fans too. He takes the time to have a decent chat with them. Kirk and Rob kinda stop once the conversation pauses awkwardly and take the pic.
Kind of...(?) The problem is he doesn;t know wtf he's talking about lol He's not a musician. Example: "Could you identify which part of the modulation you're talking about? (Because, you clearly don't know what modulation means)" He tries though. That's what matters.
@@1otonhammer38 Lars may not know all the theoretical terms, but he knows what the music sounds like in his head. That's what makes him good. He's able to arrange the music in a great way.
No Good style vs substance dude. im sure if he played superhuman blast beat double bass ala joy jordison or keith moon, people would complain he was all flash no cash.you cant win. hes an exellent drummer for the purpose he serves. metallica has always been the sum of its parts together. and NO i am FAR away from his arrogant nutsack, and i agree ten times over he isnt the greatest drummer. but hes outsanding for the role he fills.

You missed the part where he identified a part as "Cyanide" which is really funny because I always thought a section of that song sounded like Cyanide from Death Magnetic.
Based on what we see in the videos, I think it's very odd that they didn't give Rob more writing credits. He seems to have earned them. (Also, what Lars calls "modulations" aren't actually modulations.)
I wish they let Rob be more creative or involved in more of the writing process. We all know he is very capable and sometimes I feel bad for him but then again I remember he's a millionare and it seems like he got his life together pretty good. I think he is happy as is.
The thing with Lars is he has quite good “musical vision” he knows what sounds good, he doesn’t know the specific terms. Metallica has never been a theory oriented band, but still managed to make good music, this is the case for lots of bands. All this proves to me is that music theory is good at explaining WHY things work, but it can only get you so far when it comes to writing.
Actually James announced, that they're going to play every song live, but not each night. I read it in the german Rock Hard megazine for the month of Dec/2016
These have all been so funny. I imagined the best rockers speaking the language of notes and sheet music, but they're just like "So it goes DUGADUGGADUGGA NAAAA NAA NAA yeah?"
James, Lars and Rob writing makes for one bad ass album! I still wish Kirk didn't lose his phone though... imagine what he could have added to this already awesome work of art!
Gather around kids here is a little story about a band who didn't conform to be one specific genre but concentrated on putting out good music and playing whatever the hell they wanted. They even took chances trying to meld different genres together and had the sense to change with the times.....Oh wait that's not a story it's actually a fact of what Metallica is all about. Blah blah blah I didn't like anything after justice, blah blah the black album was so good, blah blah load and reload were where it was at. There is decent music on all their albums (granted more on some and less on others cough cough St Anger), maybe it's not what you specifically have in mind when you think of what Metallica is or "should be" to you but that just means it's time to expand the way you think of them. I mean seriously do you really only like specific type of rock/metal? I think it's awesome that this album has a bit of each album of the past to please all of their fans and even themselves. Rob B. ~ Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about their personal taste in music. As an individual you know what kind of music moves your soul which is why there are so many different genres and sub genres. I have a problem with people who refuse to give new Metallica music a chance or they say that it sucks just because it does not sound exactly the same as their first four albums or the load and reload era (etc) without even giving their new music a chance. It's a damn shame too because they are a band who can play many sub genres in the bigger genre of rock/metal music and kick ass. I admire this band for taking chances, playing and creating what they want and staying true to themselves. I truly believe that is the opposite of selling out. If they only played trash metal, hard rock or whatever it is that some people almost demand of them then I think that would be the easy road and that would be "selling out" to themselves mostly and to the fans because we would have lost out on some really great music. If you give it a chance and don't like it fine, there is no accounting for taste. As for sucking dick (you might as well spell out the word if you want to bring down the level of this conversation) just because I voice an opinion of a band that I stand behind, support and have admired for a long time does not mean I absolutely love everything that Metallica creates and I don't think that everyone should feel the same way that I do (not standing over here handing out cups of koolaid telling you what to like) but at the same time I don't think people should discredit great music because it's not what they expect when they hear the name Metallica.

3:54 Hetfield finally wrote a song with the lyrics of "whoa" and "yeah" every Metallica fan's dream just came true lmao
Still more complex than I Disappear
I prefer the original lyrics to the Black Album--everything was "Wanna-na"
Dream no more :)))
Just died laughing lmao X-D
Charles Russell lol
1:12 Hetfield kind of looks like the one who welcomes tourists in a south african hotel :D
😂
In that moment I just thought how much he looked his old man did in the Year and a Half in the Life video.
Gary V I've thought the same thing.
Gary V He looks like his Mom too though.
That shirt was awful.
I wish people would appreciate Lars more because he's the one who stays with the Producer all fuckin time.
Faris Imadi Yeah thats great. Too bad that has nothing to do with actually drumming. If he wants to produce, quit Metallica and start producing.
Lars seems to put the most energy into the meet and greets with the fans too. He takes the time to have a decent chat with them. Kirk and Rob kinda stop once the conversation pauses awkwardly and take the pic.
Poltergeist Yeah - Only metallica is Lars band .

Lars is the mastermind behind Metallica. Average drummer but one of the best heavy music writers ever.

Lars and James are both great for eachother.
He is a fantastic arranger and editor of parts. I always find it heartening seeking him work with Kirk too.
Wish more people realized it.
come on man, this album could be much better and Lars ´s not any mastermind songwritter
Imagine Lars as a producer, I think he can be apart of some solid records.
The Man yes, and justice for all
you mean like every Metallica album?
Lars is the brains of Metallica. Always has been and always will. No Lars no Metallica. Period.

Absolutely
Love how kirk always comes in half way through shreds and leaves haha
Nice seing Rob being part of making the songs!
RAZR and sad seing Kirk being the oposite of that
4:30 Satan, chorus, Satan, chorus, solo, Satan, chorus, vocal. Oh man, I love it. Every song should be organized just like that.
Rafael Lago Lars pretty much just described every Black Metal song with that

maybe you can cook up metallica a new album adam
Funny seeing you here Adam
5:47 That solo was great, but what I liked the most was how Kirk finished it at 6:10 sounded badass!
3:55 his response to the "every "yeah" in a metallica album" compilation :P
Kirk's end of every week for this album
phone rings:
- Hey, man, time for the solo.
*sigh*
Abraham his phone wouldnt ring he lost it
I can feel that 😂😂😂😂 since when i used to have my band practices i had the exact same reactions
4:17 - this explains so much about how Metallica lyrics come together. Also why there are SO...MANY...YEAHS.
0:39 - 0:42 would be an interesting ringtone. Thanks Lars
Hahaha I need it in my life
Alex Maiers it would cure cancer
Lmao just imagine you're in the middle of a meeting or something and that just starts blasting
I wish they were filming more Rob. I want to learn his lines, but Metallica probably is not going to play the most of songs live
Andriy Vasylenko what are you doing here? Greetings from argentina
Magic Martinez Hey! I'm a Metallica fan, you know))
Actually James announced, that they're going to play every song live, but not each night.
I read it in the german Rock Hard megazine for the month of Dec/2016
OervTheMighty Cool! I expected at least a couple of new songs on the album premiere in London. Nothing happened
Andriy Vasylenko Hey Cliff What are ya doing?
These have all been so funny. I imagined the best rockers speaking the language of notes and sheet music, but they're just like "So it goes DUGADUGGADUGGA NAAAA NAA NAA yeah?"
I don't care what people say, I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG!!! The main riff is just badass!!! RIP LEMMY \m/{-_-}\m/
Tohofan122 Me too,top 5 for me
This and atlas rise are my favorite songs from the album, and that clip is fucking awesome! Murder All !!
Agreed definitely in my top 5 as well
Dolorosakil I didn't liked now that We're Dead at first but now I like it.I love ManUNkind too.The worst song on the album is am i savage for me
Tohofan122 I think Am I Savage is the least good song
what a great environment to make music in. they have their own Studio it's like a second home they can just relax and get inspired awesome.
Really really really love this song, never ever got why this one is so underrated.
I love how these guys discuss how to make things come together by making musical sounds with their mouths. lol
IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!! YES!
😂🤣😂
a lot of good rhythms need to be singable lmao
I think it's just a lack of music theory terminology. When you the thing but don't know what it's called 😂
3:56 why did they change these lyrics?
3:31 - "Kast nu for helvede!" = "Throw it, for fucks sake!"
This message is brought to you by the Lars Ulrich translation service.
s70rk han er så genial :)
Altså skifter? ;)
Men ja, det er fanme sjovt haha! :D Dejligt at se.
Tror han switcher fordi hans danske drumtech Flemming sidder og roder med hans trommer. Skægt at høre
wabaloo dabeedoo haha! :p pooladooey waway!!
dooleedadoo?
1:10 even the King of Riffs, Papa Het, struggles sometimes with riff-writing.
Nothing but love for Metallica family.
I love those "making of" videos :)
I love that no matter what Metallica will always remember and value Lemmys work
Hopefully when you get to Spit Out The Bone there will be 10 extra minutes of footage of the smoke coming off of James right hand!
Chris Laib And lars dying lol
Lee Mcqueen yeah haha..his hands & legs moving like a blur!
I just want a live version of the song so bad
7:46 Me eating at grandma's house
i wish we had videos like this for the justice and master albums
7:46 shows the dedication the band had while doing this song, completing it while taking a dump... not an easy task.

Rick B. . I am right there with you
6:32 james likes himself some Gojira
James's voice is fucking amazing, can't wait for the new album!!
OmggeTsoo you mean can't wait to buy it?

If I had a time machine I would..
oh yeah, in that case I'm with you on the wait!
7 years later what do you think
one of the best songs of the album as it has the right kind of heavy and terrorising feeling. this is want they wanted to show about Lemmy
"Terrorising feeling" about Lemmy? Whatever you mean...
Dr. Phibes in Red very true words
Must add to your tour set list this year!!!
I love the picture of James singing with the skull lamp and the halls and tissues right next to it. Hardcore, but with a cold.
James wrote a lot of this album using his prototype vulture guitars. Neat.
They need to play this live. Not a jam, a full song.
Thank you Metallica for these behind the scenes footage, I love shit like this.
I hope they finally upload the making of "Now That We're Dead" tomorrow!
I'm praying for that "Spit out the bone"
I just really really want Lords of summer. The one on record is a lot diff to the first one they played, and I think it's the best song on the deluxe
Shallex they re-recorded it though so maybe they'll show it
And I think some video clips from this making of series are pretty old too. I don't know when they started to work on the album though
Drunken Skulls I'm waiting for Spit out the Bone \m/
I can't wait for the spit out the bone one of these
3:56 I wouldn't be surprised if Metallica put out a song where all James says is yeah. Then watch it win a Grammy XD XD XD
I'm glad they changed the Murder pre chorus verse, "second class to none" sounds WAY better that "sweet oblivion"
Im obsessed watching them make music!!
Anyone else think this song is super underrated?
Think it A GEM
One of my best Song of this Album!! Love James Vocals and Riffs!
I have to say, it's really cool watching these videos. A super cool thing to show alongside the album release. Can't wait for Spit Out The Bone and Now That We're Dead!
Damn! How sweet is this? A recording session? I love it. Thanks for sharing that part of your work. That's Master Status!
Aww that was so cute when wittle Wob twied to have his own wittle idea for the song. James' face said it all though.
01:09 that shirt. OMG, James.
The line "Sweet Oblivion" would have sounded pretty damn cool!
why didn't they include that kirt solo?! It was so badass
I could literally watch this for hours.
4:03 need me a full length version of that song
cx
Since 4:33 the automatic subtitle shows me Lars speaking: "Satan, course, Satan, core, solo, Satan, cause vocally and then…" lol
James face at 1:58 when Robert was making a suggestion. He was like "uh huh yeah ok that's great yeah nah"
3:11 JEEZUS JAMES! Almost gave me a heart attack
On Hardwired to Self-destruct:
Lars is more of a producer type, and he's good with putting the parts of the puzzle together... being Hetfield's riffs, because Lars can't write guitar parts nor play guitar... Riffs, melodies, lyrics; that's James Hetfield's parts. Arrangements, production, and fitting the parts in their best places is Lars Ulrich's parts.
I wanna see "Halo On Fire" now
i wanna se SPIT THE MOTHERFUCKER BONE!! Masterpiece!
Don't worry guys we'll see them soon.
I want to watch his shouting parts.
I love the "so fucking what" on James' guitar
7:45 thats awesome xD
RIP Lemmy!!!
am i the only one that is just waiting the making of "spit out the fucking bone"?
Martin Torres And Halo on fire.
You people are so impatient. They will release the video, don't worry.
+Dr. Phibes in Red How is that impatient? He said he is waiting for it, he wasn't complaining about waiting in any way.
Tom Williams It's how the reader interprets a comment. For me it means he wants to see the "making of" of that song. The sooner, the better. It's not like he's saying "I'm waiting for a million dollars", it's more like "come on, let's that video". And there's nothing wrong with it. I was just trying to tell them to chill out.
My favourite song and video from Hardwired. Play it live at least one time please!
Aguante Metallica!!! Saludos desde Argentina!!!! :D
I want to see the making of Spit out the bone, really a great song!
Allright uploaded on my B-Day !!
I like this video and the song (obviously because of Lemmy), but also because of one of the demo songs that made this Frankenstein demo that was called "Vilnius". I have no idea why they named it after Lithuania's capital (I'd surely love to ask them that), but I am from Vilnius and this is amazing. :-)
MORE!!
love this song!
Lemmy would totally dig it!
Best song for me on this album ! Withhout saying the clip, its fucking kicking balls !

i just love this videos about making the new record, all those creative juices flowing and creating something great !!!!!!!
love just watching them jam all 4 of them are talented together there like an orchestra of metal !
I really love watching this one in particular. Great seeing my heros who inspired me to pick up a guitar, try to write, and sing, going through the same damn processes I thought made me the rank amatuer I am ..lol.
1:12 lol James has so much dad energy here for some reason, I love it
Waiting for the making of spit out the bone and halo on fire. I also really want to see lars do some double bass in one of these videos
1:22 James rocks the dad mode
What a gorgeous shirt James 1:09 😂😂😂
Fuck, I gotta admit that being metallica's producers would feel pretty damn good.
0:59-1:04 James guitar is awesome. I am a strat fan but this shape of the body and headstock is just awesome
"Born to lose, live to win" was my senior quote in highschool
5:23 James' face in the back on the guitar haha
?
I actually love what the solo turned out to be ! I love it!
Am i theonly one who's truly in love with this kind od video? man i fucking love you it. can't wait for the others one
This is the first one of these videos where I've heard any input from Rob and I still have yet to hear anything from Kirk. It seems like Kirk just shows up after the song's already completed and just adds a solo
These short clips don't reflect their whole work on the album, do they? But you're right about Kirk.
Are we ever gonna see the whole song played live at concerts?
Maybe not. But I particularly think the best place to play it the first time or once is WACKEN! A unprobable happening, though
Metallica is simple but special!!
God i miss being in the studio. Nothing like it.
The thing that gets me about these videos is that Kirk seems to be MIA much of the time. James, Lars and Rob are in there working through the song and then Kirk is just brought in for the solo
That's because he didn't take part in the songwriting process for this album. Which sucks.
Yeah I read that he had his phone with all his riff ideas stolen or lost at an airport. But still, you'd think he'd be in there tracking with them and making arrangement suggestions or something.

Amazing nice tribute to the late Motörhead bassist Lemmy who died almost nine years ago to December 28th four days after his 70th birthday 😢.
Nah, very lame tribute
mi canción favorita y mi banda favorita i love you Metallica
the Hear your thunder part is fucking BEAST!!!
james you sounds awesome♥♥
we love metallica
Metallica!!!! Murder One the best one of the new album.
me encantan estos vídeos!!
Thanks for a big work!!
Papa het with Batik shirt from Indonesia
I wonder, did the idea for this being a tribute to Lemmy come later in the process, like here's these riffs, what should the song be about now?
Most likely.
