Slight correction: This clip was at the very latest 1958, perhaps as early as 1952. Even at the later date, Hogan,, who was born in 1912, would be 46 years old, and probably younger here.
Jimmy - no matter what ANYONE tells you, your unedited videos are THE BEST! Always keep this style. Seeing you go from hole to hole with no break and to hear your swing thought commentary makes things so simple. Never change.
At the end of 2023 I was getting to where I could break 100. I have always sucked at golf. In November of 2023 I shot a 95 and thought I had finally made it. Watched this video and thought I would try it this year. Got to the course for the first time this season (I have done minimal practice since November.) I shot an 86 today. Just using the Ben Hogan genius.
I’ve recently found your channel and you are absolutely correct with maintaining a consistent swing. I was playing this past year and one thing I noticed was that ball striking and control improved considerably when I made a shorter back swing. you mention swinging to waist high as the thought. Sometimes I tend to over swing when playing with some other better players. Once I get back into “My Swing” the ball striking improves. The interesting thing is as you say the distance doesn’t suffer just swing smooth thru the ball and keep the head down. You have a great channel.
Jimmy , shot 81 today using this swing and using some of your mental attitudes , couple of short putts cost me breaking 80 for the first time. ( In crappy UK weather as well lol ) Thanks so much for your time and effort in doing these videos. With love from the GB .
Love the video. My game is terrible right now, the more I try the worst it gets. But after watching your last video about keeping it easy and this one I had a great range day. Just what I needed. Thanks again.
You are 100% correct. I have tried this and the ball goes dead straight. Thank you for helping my game. All the other golf gurus are so over the top and looking for clicks that they stopped seeing the forest from the trees. The fact that they have to put out hundreds of videos on the golf swing shows that they know nothing. I only watch you and Warren Bennet. That's it. Stay Nasssti.
Hogans five fundementals is the Golf BIBLE in my opinion. Great stuff Jimmy this is exactly how I taught myself the golf swing 2 turns and a swish. Easy haha 😉🍺
Keeping the swing simple is not easy for me. Mr. Tropicana, you have done one of the most challenging tasks of breaking the swing down to its fundamental part, which has given me a light bulb moment. Thank you so much.
For the past three or four years, I've been constantly fix my swing, almost going from a 17 handicap to 22.5. However, after watching your video, I've stopped tinkering with my swing. Just keeping it simple now. Thank you.
I did exactly this a while ago...and hit it great ...then forgot about it...thanks for reminding me. This is like a drill that teaches you how to stay connected ...it's perfect
I did this with my driver and 3-wood; the results were terrific! I couldn't nail down the "feel" with my irons, but I think that will come with practice. Thanks for the video!
My favorite video honestly. I know it would be a pita, but would love to see you play 18 holes with this swing to see what you could score with that consistent swing. Thanks again for a fantastic video
Hey Jimmy. You are a star, mate. Love watching your moves and listening to your comments, as you go around the course. Learned more from you in a short while than anywhere else. [ from UK ]
I cannot play golf to save my life. Your instruction of waving to the camera and slapping five with the ball allowed me to actually hit the ball in the general direction that I wanted. And after watching this video, I'm actually excited to get out and play instead of being terrified of being horrible. Thank you for your help!!
Bernhard Langer I think, had a good tip which I've been using successfully for years. In an interview he said all he does is "left shoulder over right knee then right shoulder over left knee" of course while letting the club swing. Seems very similar to "turn back then turn through".
B. Langer is the best, still. He knows his stuff. Thanks for watching and for the comment. As a courtesy Tropicana would like to offer you 20% off to support our merch. visit tropicanagolfshop.com/collections/tropicana-merch and use code TROP20
Hey Jimmy, Great content. I like you allow us to see less than perfect shots - even shots that are miss hit. You show us that proper mindset is key to not letting mistakes compound. Any suggestions on what is the main cause of one not bottoming the club head consistently? I have too many fat or thin shots . When I am hitting consistently I never take a divot.
Hey Jimmy! Thank you for the exceptional and practical demonstrations. Implementing this swing style has worked very well with my short irons, but as soon as I apply it to a 6 iron or longer, I start hitting thin. Any thoughts?
Looks like you did a little lean back and forth before you thinned that 9 iron. Either way, went straight. Thanks for your videos, I'm hoping I can use what you say when I play this summer.
Many years ago, I read Hogan's Five Lessons book. A couple of years later I took a couple of lessons, the pro watched my swing, and he said "you read the book." I asked what book. He said Hogan's book.
Love your philosophy bro! This seems very Steve Stricker like, & who’s more consistent than Stricks? (Heard Tiger call him that, makes me feel cool). You’ve sucked me in with Swamy like approach, I’ll subscribe & spread the Jimmy Trops word!
G'day Jimmy from Australia. Question; I see a lot of videos on ball placement in the stance, and find that the long the iron the further forward the ball has to be. You've said in your video that the 3 iron you hit was closer to your back foot. I've trouble hitting my longs irons (4,5) so I tried your tip, but it's not working. Can you tell me what I may doing wrong? I know this is difficult without you seeing me. Thanks for the awesome videos, my game has improved a lot since watching you. BTW I'm a high handicap golfer (age; 53) and have just taken the game up only a year ago.
@@TropicanaEntertainment I just continually thin the shots with the 4 and 5 iron, but I have no problem with the 6 thru to Wedges....It's probably more of a mindset issue, as in I just "hex" myself with those clubs.
Hi Jimmy - any tips for how to swing when your shadow is right in front of you?? is it something to just practice? Or is there some other mind trick lol ...
After giving blood in the morning I went to the driving range in the afternoon. They said don’t do anything strenuous for 24 hours. So I decided to take only easy swings and concentrate on being smooth. OMG the ball went further and straighter. You don’t have to smash the ball to make good golf shots.
Hogan's Ed S video is the best & this video is gold. Your BS was way higher than you felt. And your upper arms don't stay glued to your torso. Feel vs. real.😁 Another good way to stay connected I find is "elbows down".
Just because you hit the ball lower doesn’t mean you loose distance I go to the Australian open evry year also we have touring pro that uses the range at our local club he hit his 7 irion just as low as his 3 irion no distance lost most tour pros don’t hit the ball high as much as people think low for Dow high for show other than there drivers Rory hits it low and many others Scott hits it high Matt jones hits high Jason day hit high many others hit low shots the miss understanding is golf coaches try to get most club golfers to hit it high to get the ball in the air
Take lessons people stop looking for tips golf is not easy it requires at lot of work, if it was easy we all be under par every time, he gets away with it because he watches and does lots of tips he see 0n RUclips, you can wing it, you want to be good, move dirt like tiger say, take lessons with one teaching pro don’t change because the next lesson is too hard, and you end up here in the RUclips rabbit hole, looking for your next tip that makes sense to you for your next round, is fun to watch
I have tried many lessons over the years and every teaching pro tried to get me to swing like a tour pro. My head was so full of trying to remember how to perform the correct swing, I only got worse. I am not a tour pro and will never swing like one. My body is not in the condition of a tour pro and trying to swing like one will lead to a lot of pain. Thanks to Jimmys tips I am playing the best golf of my life!
There is video of Hogan in his 70's. He only has a 50% swing, but the shots are dead straight with distance.
This is the best tip I’ve ever incorporated

In the golf biz, we call it the fundamental of "connection". Keep the arms attached to the chest. Triceps glued to pectoral muscles. Good call. 💪🏻

Awesome. Q- why ball in back of stance near back foot for 3 iron? Seems reverse of what I always heard I should do.
I like to compress the ball. I play all irons in the back of my stance because I hit down on the ball
