  • Welcome to Week 1!!! This week we're going to explore painting portraits under different lighting conditions. If you're painting alongside us you can go as crazy as you want! Artificial light of different temps, lights with color gels, daylight, sunlight, night, go nuts! I'm personally starting out for day 1 with something simple, a cool halogen light, that creates cool lights and cool shadows.

fuck dude. really love all your super humble and down to earth commentary. I also super dig your thoughts on painting as a means of self reflection. I think your commentary on insta and youtube is super candid and I could definitely see alot of people resonating with what you have to say, and being grateful for you giving an honest insight into your techniques and philosophy on life and art. Thank you so much for sharing and creating an awesome initiative(and hopefully a community!). Hope all is going well man!

Yes! The simplicity is sensual! I can sense it -even through a screen! That seems somehow more relevant in this time period where the senses have been shoved beneath conception & irony/wit.

I'm so excited to discover your brilliant art and even more thankful you're willing to share your techniques. You're an excellent teacher and mentor. I'm lucky to live in a world where I can discover art like yours, which inspires and delights me. I'd appreciate color mixing and palette descriptions, when possible. Thank you!

amazing, absolutely love your enthusiasm and joy for painting. It's infectious! Also your insights are extremely helpful, I have already painted with one of your sessions.
It was beautiful the way you described the emotion and the particular way your mum looked. A very beautiful way of looking at life.
:) I'm very happy to be able to learn from you

Your videos are as always super inspiring! Thank you and Dani so much for making them.
It’s extremely interesting to hear you reflect on your own choices in creating such nice paintings!
I noticed in this video that the color and brightness of your painting seems to change a bit while
you are woking. It could be that the camera has its auto-whitebalance setting on which causes this.
Keep making those videos! I will definitely be watching :)

Amazing video and painting. Love how you can just fount wisdom so spontaneously. Very inspiring. One observation, if I may: 25:15 - I feel you should have kept that little bit of raw (cream) paper in the hair. I record myself painting too, and often catch these little moments where I should have stopped or left an area alone. Thank you for sharing your work! Subscribed and belled.
