One thing I like about this Optimus is you can see him progressively get more violent as you go through the movies. In the first he only kills Bonecrusher and tries his hardest to not kill Megatron, even pleading with Sam to put the cube in his chest to sacrifice himself before he killed Megatron. In the ROTF Optimus is a bit more aggressive and kills Demolisher if I'm not mistaken and Grindor before being killed himself and then kills the Fallen after being resurrected. In the DOTM Optimus goes on a killing spree after the decepticons and Sentinel tricked the humans into trusting them and massacred a whole city. In AOE Optimus is a broken shell of himself after being betrayed by the species he trusted the most after his own kind and after finding out the humans were using his friends remains to build their own robots he was furious. In TLK obviously Optimus is furious at the creator for sending Lockdown to Earth and gets turned to Nemesis Prime.
Overall Optimus just went through so much that he went from a peaceful leader into a hardened killer to a broken shell of himself

@@diegobrando7394 yeah and it's mostly the G1 fans since they saw Prime kill and they lost their minds saying "he wouldn't do that, he wouldn't kill" when he literally ran down and shot like a dozen Decepticons and then held Megatron at gun point ready to shoot him in the 86 movie. Like at this point irdgaf about them complaining anymore as I think the Bayverse was good for what it was and has now inspired so many TF concepts and designs like Bumblebee's design, the allspark, and just so much more. They really should be grateful for the Bayverse considering TF was kinda stuck in the mud before 2007
He only got progressively more violent because its cool. Michael Bay's movies always carried this athmosphere with them, we just have to look at the explosions and slow motion shots in his films. The only reason they made Optimus behave this way is because its entertaining, and tbh seeing the Prime committing massacare like this is very fun :D

The difference between Psycho Optimus and G1 along with the other versions is that they actually had better storylines with crazy twists and such. Lore accurate Megatron will never get one-shotted by Prime, they're both more or less equal, and Prime represents leadership and nobility. Megatron and the others planned clever schemes and weapons to destroy the Autobots, the Bayverse Megatron is a moron, and the Prime is a warmongering psychopath. How did this Optimus even lose the war on Cybertron if he can easily cut through an army of Decepticons like a sickle through a field, and still rip out the main bad guy's spine without little to no effort?
Sure the action sequences are over the top, but if you give a genuine storyline that makes sense then yeah. In fact, you can easily show that this Optimus Prime descended into madness due to unending conflict, and now just wants to kill and kill some more, i.e he becomes the very thing he was supposed to destroy. Gone is the noble warrior that fought for freedom, now he's a fallen hero and a bloodlusted psychopath.
I think that's the case. I'm sure that in the bayverse, optimus did resemble his G1 counterpart, but unending war and watching his friends die broke him down. "There are people in the world that deal in extremes, and it is foolish to believe anything less than extreme will stop them"
The first Transformers movie, Optimus is clearly not able to 1v1 Megatron. It's clear there's a difference between the two. Megatron is slightly larger and clearly more equipped for combat.
This remains somewhat true in RotF where he needed Jetfire's remains as enhancements to aid him in his fight against Megatron and The Fallen. Of course the Fallen is a horrible downgrade from what one of the Original 13 Primes should have been in regards to strength.
In DoTM onward, Optimus is able to pretty much keep up with anyone, only exceptions being the main antagonists like Lockdown, Sentinel and Quintessa, with zero help.

I think it would've been forgiven for Optimus to use so much violence if only he had been more collected about it. After the first movie, he has been unhinged almost revelling in it by repeating phrases like, "I'll kill you", or "Give me your face."
We can all appreciate a calm and professional killer such as John Wick, but Optimus in the movies is a complete psycho with no control over himself.

I think it'd be interesting to see a transformers story sincerely explore the idea of Optimus as so war-weary and desensitized that he's become everything he's supposed to be opposed to. Michael Bay, however, is not the person to tell that story.

Well I mean in the first movie Optimus wasn't trying to really kill anybody and in turn got his ass beat and lost his old friend in Jazz and then in ROTF was killed cause he didn't finish the job in the forest. After the first 2 it seemed more like Optimus kinda went "I've tried my hardest to stay peaceful but no more." I think Peter even saw this and talked about it in an interview as this is a different Optimus that over time just slowly loses his cool like he was even pleading with Sam to not kill Megatron in the first movie and even felt remorseful after his death

What people don't understand is that Bayverse is a different continuity of Transformers, not to mention Optimus watched Cybertron fall, his friend Jazz was ripped in half, and in the books Megs ate his Spark, Megs unalived Prime in Revenge of the Fallen, Fallen wanted to destroy the Sun, and end life, Sentinel backstabbed the Autobots and backshot Ironhide, Que was executed, most of them were hunted down and butchered, and melted down, leaving only Hound, Drift, Bee, and Crosshairs alive, he was then mind controlled in The Last Knight, and nearly murdered Bee.

0:07 what a ridiculous moment, in the context of the movie, demolisher has just been taken down and spilled some very useful information about the upcoming Decepticon attack, Optimus could of gotten way more information out of him if they took him back to NEST, but for some reason Optimus just bluntly executes Demolisher and then wonders why there’s no information on the Fallen later on in the movie.

Optimus Prime is a inspirational hero. He is the one who sets the example for others to follow. The thing that makes Optimus great is his ideals, his morals. And just like Superman and Luke Skywalker, people nomad have to tear them down in order to be "realistic" or so they aren't so "boring". But you can't have any hero without the aspirational heroes like Optimus Prime for them to strive to be, even though we never can be them.

There’s a theory that this version of Optimus was once like his G1 counterpart, but that this is a more older and experienced Optimus that has been changed and hardened by the thousands, if not longer, of years of war, perhaps he was more peaceful but it never worked and it cost him some of his fellow Autobots, and now he’s just tired of all the Deception’s shit and is totally willing to end them

In Bayverse decepticons are portrayed as vicious and sometimes even like feral animals, that's not an enemy you can "be nice" to.

Some of these are a little justifiable though.
-The Fallen was trying to harvest the fucking sun itself, though the "Give me your face" bit was not needed.
-Demolishor had put many innocent humans in harms way for no reason when he could have just attempted to get the hell out of there ASAP.
-The "We will kill them all" line is reasonable considering what the Cons had did to Chicago.
-Shockwave had killed many Autobots prior to the events of Dark of The Moon.
-Megatron was the reason for the war and kinda fucked Cybertron over.
-Sentinel had literally betrayed the Autobots and was gonna enslave humanity, and right before Megatron saved Prime, Sentinel was gonna kill Optimus without any mercy.
-Optimus was just trying to protect Cade, considering Cade had helped Optimus, and he didn't even kill the Cemetary Wind soldiers, he could have crippled some of them though.
The list can go on and on. Now, I understand Optimus isn't completely innocent and is definitely a fucking psychopath but I do believe some of his actions are a bit justifiable. If you disagree that's fine, just stating my opinion.

Optimus killed Bonecrusher in self defence and that’s okay. However, he murdered other Decepticons mercilessly ever since his downfall in the second film. Michael Bay’s Optimus Prime is so inconsistently written.

When you realize optimus in the bayverse is broken by war and probably has PTSD. Or he's just a psychopath. Either way it's awesome.
When do you realize that Optimus in the movies never has PTSD or is shown to be someone who is broken by war? Literally, I see you bay fans say that Optimus Prime in the movies has PTSD but Optimus is never shown to have PTSD or the effects of PTSD. We are never shown that the war broke him, it's just a bad excuse for why Optimus in the movies acts like a maniac.
@@HenryLouis21 People that have PTSD (most are former military) act erratically and sometimes kill people in a blind rage. Also, fighting a war for thousands of years watching your friends die would give anyone PTSD.

First of all, PTSD doesn't make a person go on murderous rampages, people with PTSD experience distressing memories of traumatic events and always be on guard. I'm pretty sure that someone with PTSD will just go on a murdering rampage in a blind rage because that makes you a raging psychopath.
Saying that Optimus has PTSD shows how little you know of mental health. Also, the movies never show Optimus having PTSD. And he doesn't have any friends, they barely interact with his Autobots nor do we know how close he is with his fellow Autobots.
He barely reacted to when Ironhide and Eltia died who were close friends with him on Cybertron revealed in the comics, but since Optimus in the movies never acknowledges their existence, it's hard to think that Optimus actually has any friendship with the Autobots. Also, they never show us what happened on Cybertron to make Optimus act the way he does in the movies.
@@HenryLouis21 The bay movies don't show us optimus's mental health, which would've made the movies better than they are. All we can do is guess. But think about it this way. Optimus is fighting a war for thousands of years. He's seen friends die left and right. The decepticons aren't stopping. If I was in optimus's position, I would be pissed 24/7 at the cons. I would purposefully go out of my way to hurt them as much as I can. Do evil unto evil. And yeah, we didn't see optimus's reaction to Ironhide and elitas death, which again, would've made the movies better. The bayfilms aren't perfect, we all know that. All we can do is use the comics and assumptions to fill in the blanks. Still 9/10 movies tho
@@redsquire I've seen Optimus fighting in wars for far longer in other universes, while in the movies, he's fought this war for what could be assumed as thousands of years, Optimus fought in the great war for millions of years and never compromised his morals in any way shape or form. It's not in Optimus' nature to just purposely go around murdering Decepticons with no mercy. Also, doing evil unto evil makes you basically no better than the evil you are fighting against, doing that would not make you a hero, that would make you an anti-hero, not a noble war hero who fought for honor and justice.
