Sparky, I seriously want to thank you so much. This series will be so helpful for everyone looking for good techniques while finding their way to the amazing world of making fursuits. Your content is amazing and I love how clearly you explained all the steps. Keep up the good work!
I feel confident that when I'm ready, making the smaller bits of a fursuit will go well. Or uh even if it doesn't at least itll be fun and feel accomplishing having tried 😄🐺 I looooove watching craft videos, whether it be about fiction writing, making stuff with resin, sewing stuff. I've been dealing with mental health so anything that takes more than a small amount of energy is hard to start but I have a love for so many artsy things. Making a fursuit or two is such a dream goal 🥰😍
Great video, Sparky! Maybe I'll make a tail for myself! (looks at my fursona and realize he has three tails and the tips have an irregular crisscross pattern) ... well, fu-
@@Ros13_Pos13 Maybe for someone experienced. For a first- timer like me, who doesnt even know how to sew, much less owns a machine, it just sounds frustrating. Maybe someday.
@@AguionStryke you can do it ive been sewing for pretty much all my life but i cant sew on a machine lol its just a lot of practice, trial and error you'll get the hang of it :3 its not hard to hand sew
I went into this vid thinking I already knew everything I needed to know about making pursuit tails being a suit maker myself, but the reality is I learned so much from this video its insane! Just the small things really helped. Thanks!!
I have the urge to use this tutorial to make a floofy rainbow snow leopard tail. Like, obnoxiously rainbow. I know it's a lot harder to pattern and piece together and all that, but this video has inspired me to do so.
Sparky, i reeeeaaaaly apecereate this video. I'am poor as fuuuuukuruku so i cant afford to pay for good to know series but now i can move the whole mountanis with this and tank you for this again you two are beeeest🤗🤗🤗🤗

@@cynthiabrogan9215 oh thank you so much for tip and maybe i could do something around that art idea and sorry if I sounds like annoying kid but thank you💛💛💛🤗🤗🤗
I think I like the foam carving, clingwrap, ducktape method. It seams a lot easier for sawing and getting the exact amount of fur you need but the tail with be one solid peace, it can move but still, it really does depend of the "softness" of the foam
Sparky you're a hero, this is so informative and there's so much help, I'll definitely be looking forward to buying the rest of the episodes in the future! Thank you so much!
You can actually use a compass to draw on the fabric to get a perfect circle if you want. It's more accurate than free hand to ensure consistent measurements (especially with that all important seam allowance!). If you don't have a compass you can do the same thing with some string, a pencil held in the centre and a marker at the other end of the string. I learned that little trick the hard way. Measure twice, cut once. That hot glue trick with the zippers? You're my new favourite person. I've been trying to figure out how to do that for ages to make a nice dog pillow that I can toss in the wash.
this is actually the most in depth tutorial i have ever seen and it’s AMAZING! People say for tails you just need two sides and sew them but it is pretty complicated even though it is just 2 sides. I always have trouble with the way the fur is facing because i forget to draw arrows, so it’s extremely helpful that you added that in! Once i make a tail for my partial i will be sure to use this!
Hey Sparky, I'm just wondering, since I have a normal sewing machine would I have to use a thicker or more sturdy needle to sew through the thick fur? Thanks!
Wow. I didn't expect the series to be this good (of what I've seen in this 1st part, haha). When I heard that you'll publish a Fursuit tutorial series, I wasn't really convinced, but this first episode looks pretty damn good and the way you're teaching it seems doable for an amateur too! Though this requires a little bit of sewing experience anyway. Thumbs up and definitely going to get it once I'm not broke anymore, hehe
What template do you use for your paws, like then ones you did in the goodtoknow episode a while back? The pinned comment link no longer works, as Google+ was shut down... Anyways! Awesome vid, as always!
What if your sona/character's fur is short? (mine is a kangaroo) How would you make the fur shorter? I'm sure you would cut it down somehow, but with what? And when in the process of making the tail? ~Thanks to those that help 💜
Cayle Mae well, if you have a dog you probably have one of those electric barber thingies. Those are very handy. If you don’t have one, you can try finding one In a local pet store or on Amazon. A tip if you ise that one, when used cut the direction of the fur
Depending on your characters colors, there are shortpile furs you can use. I'd recommend seal or beaver/super seal. Big Z fabrics also sells their own line of shortpile fur called short shag which has a wide range of colors.
This tutorial is absolutely incredible. I have just made a tail by following along and it turned out amazing! Thanks for such an amazing tutorial. I'll definitely have to consider purchasing the series at some point! :)
TBH fabric is probably easier..? since you can move it wherever you need and it's not y'know... attached permanently to something else XD It'll be slightly different either way
Wow I will definitely will use these good to know vids I love ur vids sparky ur the best suit maker some day when I have the money I will commission you
You can easily hand stitch fur with a blanket stitch while it's inside out, then just flip it the right way. The only part of the suit that you probably shouldn't hand sew is the belt loop areas and the bodysuit.
Perfect! This is so helpful thanks sparky! I have a question, though, will I be able to do all sewing with hand and no sewing machine? Waiting for a reply! UwU
Allison Arts you can hand sew. My entire tail and head is hand sewn, it’ll just take more time. I recommend double threading seams that’ll have more stress on them (take a long chunk of thread, fold it in half, and knot the part where the two tips meet. Thread it through the needle) it makes your seams stronger ❤️
Hey So I’m having some troubles registering for the account Because I never got the link to activate my account so is there anything you can do to fix it 😂

Definitely listen to sparky when glueing the zipper, my zipper ended up not closing because the hot glue was on the zipper and it was hard to sew it because of the hardened hot glue 🤡🤡🤡
I've actually seen someone protect the fur during sewing/cutting by using painter's tape, which is less rough on the fur than other tapes, hope that helps someone here, as it kept it from getting choppy quite well
