I've known a fair few new makers get very anxious about starting out and often get disheartened by things going wrong or not working quite right first time. One of the best things about your videos are the tips on common pitfalls, and telling your own experiences of trial and error, things that don't always work perfectly first time. The little foam bits are always a nightmare to clean up cause my vacuum usually can’t get them and I have to PICK UP EVERY SINGLE LITTLE PIECE while my CATS are trying to EAT THE FOAM BITS!

When i get foam imma get my dad to do that part beacause i would suck and i only need a small tail I’m not that tall
Using a normal knife is ok as i dont have any scissors that are really sharp or have thick blades though using a knife is hard it does the job its a good cramper and hand work out to i tell you that😭

Oh wow this is amazing! I especially love the little cutaway/gore detail, it turns the tail on the body into a prop that adds to the costume even when taken off, so it’s never just like “I took part of my costume off So I could sit”. That attention to detail is sooo good

I personally do not use a electric knife, but I do have a foam knife that is sharp enough to crisply cut through foam with a sharp enough blade. It’s great to work with and is much easier than cutting it with scissors.

You should make a fursuit to match that tail, I’ve actually never seen like a shark fursuit.
She could definitely make a premade and sell it if she wanted to! I'm sure someone would buy it but she might have commissions backing her up which is why she's selling it as just the tail.

Nef! For my hot glue pins, I usually keep an acetone or rubbing alcohol soaked sponge near me that I use as a pin cushion of sorts! It cleans the hot glue off well, and they can be reused good as new afterwards! I’ve found this is my favorite method of keeping pins clean and shiny!

Does the "super motion" effect work OK on smaller tails, like something 1-3 feet long? I love the effect and how well they wag, but I wouldn't want a tail quite as long as what's shown.
I made a small normal tail about 3 ft and it kinda wags but not the greatest
I'm definitely sure it will if you do the cuts properly. Maybe like 3-4 cuts for a size that small and the first 1-2 would need the excessc it while the others would be quick slits. If that doesn't work, there's always other methods! Especially for smaller tails!

A question, I’m going to make one of these to take to raves. Do you have any tweaks you’d recommend for that? I do a LOT of jumping and dancing, and I don’t want to wear down the belt loop, for example
You may want to look into using a weight lifting belt for that.

I was the shy kid in the family, was hard for me to tell anyone anything, and so I recently discovered I was a furry and bisexual...idk how people tell their families this stuff but I had to say something about it in some way but..yea I'm scared I wouldn't be accepted by my family, cuz my whole family is straight...
I was terrified as well, but I ended up telling my parents and they were pretty cool with it. I suggest maybe starting to ask like hey do you know what a furry is? What would you do if I was a furry? How do you feel about furries?
Give them hints really. Unless you feel like you aren’t safe telling them. Just do what you think is right

Hi.
If you don't have foam here's how I do it:
And sew all the tail pieces, but make a small opening on the beginning of the tail.
Use that opening to turn the tail rightside-out and then fill it with some poly stuffing (use a lot of poly-stuffing so you can give the tail it's stiff, structure without it deforming).
You can either hot glue the opening shut or sew it shut then.
You can hot glue/sew a a belt loop, (which are two looped pieces of elastic) Then you have a tail!
Cons:
It may not have as much movement/bendability as the one in this video. (You can wag it, but it'll be stiff and stay in its exact shape)
If you're making a big tail like the one in this video, you need to have a surplus of stuffing, you have to stuff it ALOT to have it stay in its natural shape, otherwise it may deform after a few years of wearing.
I had a very bad day before watching this. I got home and my materials for my new dino mask broke and fell apart so I had to buy more materials which cost me another 100 dollars 🤦♀️ but I got home and turned this on and started working on my dino mask and I cant tell you how many times I laughed and smiled watching this.
