With certain parts from Rex, I don’t see why people say the voice acting is bad. Its the direction (or lack there of) thats awful. Nia imo has an outstanding voice, but she has no direction and her lines almost never potray how she should be feeling, thus making it sound awful. Rex has some flaws, but Im willing to bet with proper direction, some of his moments would be better. He does seem to get better as the game goes on at least.
@@heechoonyeo4762 also "and that's my role in this world!" is an amazing scream too. Honestly Rex's VA does a great job in emotional scenes, and he got so much better as the game went on. Plus, you cant tell me the dub is bad when Malos and Zeke go HARD in the dub. Honestly Rex has some bad screams here and there but I felt that he's for the most part a pretty solid actor.
It's not the voice acting I hate. It's the personality. Rex just feels like a simp and his facial expressions look cringe. Also botw link could beat him in a fight.
This scene hits me like a ton of bricks. I knew it was coming. The guy had death written all over him and had big "temporary party member" energy. I just didn't know it would hit so hard. This one early game scene made me feel things that the entirety of XC1 didn't. I didn't think I would like this dude as much as I did and giving his life to protect some kids he just met really touched me. In that moment, that was his war. And he won. Farewell, biggipon. You may not have been with us for long, but you will never be forgotten. You were too cool for this world.
Came back to this cause felt like crying again. Vandham’s death scene is one of the all time greatest moments in the entire Xeno franchise. And then they killed yet another Vandham in XC3. Man this family deserves better.
The game has multiple instances of swearing. They're far and few between, but they're there. Most notably, Morag exclaims "Shit! Who gave that damn order?" at one point.
i think the reason mythra can only use her beams in outdoors is because she is actualy tapping into the mechs in space and using them as a beam weapon.
Mythra has her own arftifice, “Siren” that she’s able to control at will. It’s too dangerous to use siren indoors, That’s Why you never See her use siren inside buildings.
Vandham: a character who has gone through several different selves and Xeno properties to finally manage to get into the player's party. And then he dies. A true badass.
Are you referring to Vanderkam from "Xenosaga" as one of Vandham's inspirations? I definitely see that, but in no way are the two similar in personality. I can't recall any character similar in "Xenogears" but please let me know if I'm forgetting someone...I haven't been able to actually play "Xenogears" in eons. If you care to, please enlighten me. Discussion of "Xeno" titles, especially previous ones, are far too few these days...
WAIT, you mean the other "Van"s in the "Xenoblade" titles, don't you? I'm not huge on "Xenoblade" as a successor to the other titles, but damn if this part didn't get me invested in finishing XC2 even though I bought it simply to simp for KOS-MOS. Vandham is actually quite the character. I just got through this part and sobbed. The sparse list of games that have gotten me weepy just grew....and of course it's another "Xeno" title...
A nerd is the villain!! I can't lie I came here after seeing the Smash Brothers trailer and never really been a fan of Xenoblade but this scene makes me want to play this game
I was q little pissed because I have the original xenoblade 2 but the dlc that also had a physical release is hard to find now. And its going for 150 dollars on ebay. I feel so dumb because I had the chance to get it for 25 bucks at one point lol Anyways I do recommend them. The game can get hard to get used too but it's massive with content so it will be a good buy
This is the first video I ever watched of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and I'm already getting nostalgia even though I started watching when Quarantine happened.
Vandham became my favorite character throughout chapter 3 and kept him in my party the entire chapter. Watching him fucking die like that pushed me on the verge of tiers. Every time I watch this cutscene makes me want to cry.
Okay anyone saying the japanese dub is better can fight me. Sure Rex isn't that good(his main problem is he can't scream), but atleast he has his moments every now and then and he actually sounds like a 14 year old boy. Everyone else is great, Vandham's dubbing is ESPECIALLY wonderful. You can actually FEEL the emotion from him in this scene as he's begging Rex to run away.
I listened to english and japanese Tora...that made me choose english over japanese. Sure, Rex VA isn't the best but all the others are awesome...especially Nia.
Mythra's Awakening... one of my favourite scenes in the entire game. ♥ Edit: 3 years later. Still gives me chills and makes me shed tears.. Such intense moments.
Pyra's awakening, Mythra's awakening, and her 3rd form's awakening are some of my favorite cutscenes. They seem to have parallels to the scenes in Xenosaga where KOS-MOS swoops in to save Shion at the last possible second.
@@TianarTruegard Unfortunately the Xenosaga series - with all parts that is - has never been released in Europe, which is quite funny regarding its German titles. XD So I can't comment that comparison, though it makes me long even more for a remaster. 🙈
Yes,we get it. You all don't like the voice acting. Can you shut up about it now? I opened this video to maybe find some emotional comments regarding Vandham but no,90% of it instead is "Omg,the voice acting is sooo bad."
how do you expect to people fill any fucking emotion when the game has this so fucking LOW quality DUB? this is as bad as " That whats too close, you were almost a jill sandwich" yeah is as BAD as RE 1 VA which is from fucking 1996!!! and there arent any fucking excuse when you have games like FF 15 and Persona 5 that have from perfect to good VA, heck EVEN FUCKING TALES OF Franchise have better VA than this shit, no even worse Xenoblade X has BETTTER VA and thats a game from the same company/franchise as this one and you expect people to not fucking COMPLAIN??? are you fucking DEFT or something godot?
Raul Rojas first of all you’ve done nothing but rant your view without any evidence or even specific details. Secondly, calm the bloody hell down. Unless you are one there’s no reason to be acting like a child.
Raul Rojas the dub isn't really as bad as you make it out to be. Sure it's not on the same quality as something like Persona 5, and there are definitely consistent problems with lip syncing (though to be fair that's kind of a problem with JRPG's in general rather than just this game), but there were some legitimately great performances in this game. I'm no fan of Rex by any means, especially in the more emotional scenes, but in the more laid back scenes he does a fine job. Nia has a problem with getting emotional too, but to a lesser extent, plus I like the sass the dub adds to Nia's voice (plus I find Nia's voice in Japanese to be a little too high pitched and annoying so that's an improvement). Other than them, the only legitimately bad performance is Patroka (seriously, she just REALLY doesn't know what she's doing with her lines), but at least she doesn't pop up too often in the game. Everybody else had some really good performances. Tora's dub brought youth, joy, and jolly to the character; Poppi's dub brought a great sense of innocence, dead-pan, and curiosity; Morag's dub was strong and stoic, yet also gentle and understanding; Malos' dub was wrathful and maniacal without being too over-the-top; Jin's dub was menacing, yet also distant and depressed. I could go on and on about the various performances, and I was especially impressed that Pyra and Mythra were voiced by the same VA, because even though they sound similar they have a pretty distinct feel to them. I haven't even mentioned Zeke or Vandham, two of my favorite performances by far (the energy and passion in Zeke's voice is really contagious, and Vandham absolutely NAILED that one scene at the end of chapter 3). You guys can point the finger at Rex all you want, but for every example you can give me of bad voice acting in the game, I can point to about five other instances where they did well, so people really need to chill out.
The voice acting is fine. Rex is a tad awkward here and there but other than that the only issue is the lip syncing. All of these issues probably stem from the voice actors not having a video feed and just a script to read from.
If i had 2 nickels for every time a Vandham with an X shaped scar dies really early in a Xenoblade game, I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice
8:04 seeing the camera slowly pan as Mythra keeps a deathglare locked on Akhos is awesome and terrifying. She did NOT want to come out and Architect save Malos and Akhos for making her.
The fear in Vandham's voice before his sacrifice really sells it. The man had so many people to look after, so much left still to do, I don't think he wanted to die but he knew he had caught wind of something bigger than himself, despite not even knowing the party that long. The melancholy acceptance in his voice when he says "just go Rex" is a line that stayed with me. If only the rest of the voice acting in this game was that good...
Hmm I think he knew there was a chance he would die after Rex was the one to inherit the mercenary place and even his friends told Rex that was gonna be the plan after he dies
@@lugiamastero13 oh yeah the decision was made and it wasn't something he was backed into doing but you can hear him almost swallow that adrenaline and say what needs to be said. Very convincing performance in my opinion.
"Piece of cake" That single line made me want to punch him in the jaw so badly. Vandam died because of his arrogance, how dares he be cocky not 3 minutes later ?! >.
It wasn't Rex's fault that Vandham died, Vandham just wanted him to run away but Rex isn't the kind of person who would do something like that, sure it leads to unfortunate things for him and maybe others but he can't bare that idea. And I think that "Piece of cake" was meant o resemble how Rex was getting back into the groove of things, not really focusing on Vandham's death because Rex had to save his own skin first.

@@airtiger4577 I wouldn’t say he’s a simp. He merely made a promise to someone who saved his life, and fought to stick to that promise.
For those from the Smash trailer, the song is,"You will Recall our Names"
This scene made fall In love for the game. Very underrated and 100% one of the best games on Switch.
Counterattack is such a good song
This scene hits me like a ton of bricks. I knew it was coming. The guy had death written all over him and had big "temporary party member" energy.
I just didn't know it would hit so hard. This one early game scene made me feel things that the entirety of XC1 didn't. I didn't think I would like this dude as much as I did and giving his life to protect some kids he just met really touched me. In that moment, that was his war. And he won.
Farewell, biggipon. You may not have been with us for long, but you will never be forgotten. You were too cool for this world.
My guy Rex didn’t have his glock with him that’s why he technically lost
No drip either, he had no chance of winning against such a dripful foe
I love this comment
Bad guys: *are winning*
*Counterattack plays*
Bad guys: "Guess I'll die."
I was playing this at 12/1 A.M. and I got to this part.
I cried so hard.
Came back to this cause felt like crying again.
Vandham’s death scene is one of the all time greatest moments in the entire Xeno franchise.
And then they killed yet another Vandham in XC3. Man this family deserves better.
They actually put the word.."shit"in a Nintendo game...wow
Never mind the " Son of a bitch" in the previous scene
or malos calling vandam a bastard :P
Ruby red Rose they also say ass a bunch. This is a monolith game, it's just on a Nintendo console.
YOU LITTLE SHIT!!!
The game has multiple instances of swearing. They're far and few between, but they're there.
Most notably, Morag exclaims "Shit! Who gave that damn order?" at one point.
i think the reason mythra can only use her beams in outdoors is because she is actualy tapping into the mechs in space and using them as a beam weapon.
sir Reinhardt yeah pretty much
Mythra has her own arftifice, “Siren” that she’s able to control at will. It’s too dangerous to use siren indoors, That’s Why you never See her use siren inside buildings.
That’s basically it. It’s like trying to fire the Hammer of Dawn indoors…literally.
I reached this point a few days ago. And after actually witnessing Vandham's impact on Rex, it made this moment even more heartbreaking.
Vandham: a character who has gone through several different selves and Xeno properties to finally manage to get into the player's party.
And then he dies.
A true badass.
BetweenTheFog wait what now
Are you referring to Vanderkam from "Xenosaga" as one of Vandham's inspirations?
I can't lie I came here after seeing the Smash Brothers trailer and never really been a fan of Xenoblade but this scene makes me want to play this game
you really should play it, it was such a great adventure! it has a really complex battle system, and it’s so satisfying to finally get the hang of it.
Same never heard of them but i checked it out on yt and its pretty good
I was q little pissed because I have the original xenoblade 2 but the dlc that also had a physical release is hard to find now. And its going for 150 dollars on ebay. I feel so dumb because I had the chance to get it for 25 bucks at one point lol
Anyways I do recommend them. The game can get hard to get used too but it's massive with content so it will be a good buy
I actually downloaded the game because of this scene, and music.
Malos: "So long, kid!"
Pyra: "Reeeeeeeeeeex!"
That scene still gives me goosebumps to this day 😭
I loved the way Pyra screamed for Rex! It was so good.
This is the first video I ever watched of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and I'm already getting nostalgia even though I started watching when Quarantine happened.
Oh, God, my insides twisted once I saw Tora and Poppi get launched by Malos. I find Tora very innocent and I can't bear to see him get hurt.
Poppi is way more innocent and hurt way worse considering how hard she hit the walls
When either of them get hurt it hurts my feelings. I love that pair so much
Me too. Must protecc Tora at all costs.
Innocent. Yeah. Don’t your REMEMBER Poppi’s original purpose?
I was a bit sad when obrona died
And vandam Died like a legend
Mythra scene=EPIC
Obrona voice was annoying tho
I celebrated when Obrona died because I was tired of listening to her raspy ass voice
Vandham became my favorite character throughout chapter 3 and kept him in my party the entire chapter. Watching him fucking die like that pushed me on the verge of tiers. Every time I watch this cutscene makes me want to cry.
Back again for my annual emotional torture session
Okay anyone saying the japanese dub is better can fight me. Sure Rex isn't that good(his main problem is he can't scream), but atleast he has his moments every now and then and he actually sounds like a 14 year old boy. Everyone else is great, Vandham's dubbing is ESPECIALLY wonderful. You can actually FEEL the emotion from him in this scene as he's begging Rex to run away.
Le Dapper Greninja I think the yelling is justified because Rex is still a kid and his voice isn’t fully developed
I listened to english and japanese Tora...that made me choose english over japanese. Sure, Rex VA isn't the best but all the others are awesome...especially Nia.
The english voice acting overall is horrible. I never play games in subs but i may for this game just because the voice acting is just atrocious.
Rex actually can cry pretty well
actually, i cant feel a single emotion from this pile of shit dub
7:03 Such an epic scene. Gives me chills especially with seeing Siren awaken.
"To descend upon the world and rid it of these pests." Ironically, Aegis is latin for "protect"
I love how The Hilbert Effect is combined with Foresight :-) so many parallels to Xenosaga/gears
Woah nice catch! Im watching this a year later and I'm just realizing this after playing the Xenosaga games.
Real men cry about this part. Rest in peace Vandham…we won’t forget ya, big man. You did good. Real good.
Mythra's Awakening... one of my favourite scenes in the entire game. ♥
Edit: 3 years later.
XD
So I can't comment that comparison, though it makes me long even more for a remaster. 🙈
this was the ONLY video game scene I ever cried at.
6:41 "We at Team Four Star do not condone child violence. We do however, find it extremely funny."
Yes,we get it. You all don't like the voice acting. Can you shut up about it now? I opened this video to maybe find some emotional comments regarding Vandham but no,90% of it instead is "Omg,the voice acting is sooo bad."
Jojo Stark stfu
how do you expect to people fill any fucking emotion when the game has this so fucking LOW quality DUB? this is as bad as " That whats too close, you were almost a jill sandwich" yeah is as BAD as RE 1 VA which is from fucking 1996!!! and there arent any fucking excuse when you have games like FF 15 and Persona 5 that have from perfect to good VA, heck EVEN FUCKING TALES OF Franchise have better VA than this shit, no even worse Xenoblade X has BETTTER VA and thats a game from the same company/franchise as this one and you expect people to not fucking COMPLAIN??? are you fucking DEFT or something godot?
That part made xenoblade 2 my favorite game
If i had 2 nickels for every time a Vandham with an X shaped scar dies really early in a Xenoblade game, I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice
Watching this back, I still miss Vandamn, but I surprisingly also [Chapter 9 spoilers] miss Akhos. He was a good character
THIS
BEST SCENE in the whole game, and one of the best scenes EVER in video game history.
9:24
Rex: What is this?
Me: EPITAPH!
"behold the power of King crimson!"
6:27 Rex is too busy yelling, he can't even run straight! 😂🤣
5:05 it's so cool seeing them hint Nia's secret
Still one of the best jrpgs in history, along with the original. One day, I'll have the time to play part 3.
At 5:03 Nia seems to be holding something.... then you only find out way later the reason
When Vandham died I felt absolutely nothing because I never used him in my team and barely had any interactions with him and his story.
Vandham:run away now
Rex:proceed to attack
Its honoslty sad how Roc's memory of Vandham just disappeared
i cried in this part of the game RIP vandham may he rest in our souls
8:04 seeing the camera slowly pan as Mythra keeps a deathglare locked on Akhos is awesome and terrifying. She did NOT want to come out and Architect save Malos and Akhos for making her.
"You're a pain in the ass. Little shit!" WOAH! Nintendo went R-Rated!
I feel like this scene still should’ve been called, “Vandham pulls a Fiora!”
XD
spoiler for both games
but vandham doesnt come back like fiora
Well thanks for the spoilers😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒
EGS 2 it literally said “spoiler warning” in the first line
The9 TailedGamer not fire waifus comment
im glad they referenced this masterpiece of a cutscene in her smash splash screen :)
9:23
Rex: "What is this?!"
Mythra: "It's called *Ultra Instinct."
the music in the background make this scene so dramatic i love it
"Akhos, I don't feel so good..."
Honestly I know like the voice acting isn’t the best but honestly it’s impressive since for most of the actors this is there first time acting
"Piece of cake"
That single line made me want to punch him in the jaw so badly.
Rex the Salvager
Also, if Rex had run, they would’ve been hunted again. As long as Obrona existed, there was no escape, they had to fight against the odds.
(Dunban joke intended)
I wish vandam stuck around longer and roc had more significance. Roc basically just became a glorified smash art for rex afterwards
Here before the smash fans complain about Mythra foresight
Where women cried: titanic
Where men cried: vallient hero
where real men cried:
I think I literally can’t get over this death .
I actually felt just as sad when Akhos Lost Obrona 10:32
i acutaly dident notice her core Crystal was cracked.
PennilessImp749 same
Me too
After what happened to vandham I was I really happy about that actually. Plus Akhos's Blade's VA was annoying as hell.
same here
Rex: What is this?!
Mythra: This is foresight, basically let's you see into the future.
Rex: Wow that's really coo-
Mythra: This will be the last time you use this.
Rex: wtf
The sad look on Mythra's face when she uses Siren adds so much more to this scene knowing what happened in Torna
This was the moment I really started to get invested in the game (Well, this moment actually sealed my investment, because the moment you get in Uraya the game gets a high note). Basically this game has a very slow start, with some few things that are interested, but you're not really invested yet, at least I wasn't, until this moment that made the whole adventure in Uraya a great and enjoyable one.
This was epic lol the music makes it even more epic
Oh god I just noticed. 5:02.
Yea she was thinking about healing vandham
This is the scene that made me love this game
