On this “On the Hunt” episode I shared some truck found at a local auction. Surprisingly there were some vintage iron at this sale including Peterbilts, Macks, Internationals and an awesome mid-80s K100 cabover. Unfortunately, due to COVID, they’ve shutdown all live auctions and do it all via the web which just isn’t the same. Still fun to look for a future project and dream. I posted the sell price so you can get a sense of what these trucks are selling for … note all prices in Canadian loonies.
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for all the comments, suggestions and support!

I know nothing about trucks, but listening to a Canadian guy talking about trucks so passionately is so relaxing to watch.
I’m in the same exact boat!
Air leaf.
😊
Cabovers are not seen around much, very rare truck. I had two cabovers and they were great trucks, so much fun to drive.
The auctioner sound like an old diesel that doesn't want to start! Lol
When he was at 32 it sounded like a chainsaw with a miss lol
ROFL Tamas!!!!! I for the life of me dont get the whole auctioneer thing.
I was going to say it sounds like my F250 7.3 IDI when I cold start it in 25-degree weather if I don't plug it in.
@@kevinwoodcock7578 Part of the entertainment? Imagine an auction with a slow talking auctioneer..
That's someone who REALLY enjoys his job.
"Check this ole flyin' brick out" --- lol....nice
I can never get tired of that mechanical 3406 sound! Love it!
it's really to bad we cant have Cat engines in trucks anymore. Self imposed nonsence while China is building coal fired power plants for electricity.
3408 is even better.
Twin Sticks: honey I bought a cab over.
Wife: *makes video on husbands passing and says thanks for support*
Love these "On the Hunt" videos. Your like a kid in a candy store and I can totally relate!
Western Star and Freightliner are both owned by Daimler. Coincidentally that steering wheel is the same as in the Mercedes Actros.
Same steering wheel also in Sisu trucks because they use Mercedes caps
Nytpä vasta huomasin että taidat olla Suomesta sinäkin
@@konemieskou Kyllä hyvinkin.
Daimler is the parent company and there would be some parts commonality. Steering wheels are similar but different part numbers. I’m sure Paccar shares parts between KW and Pete to save cost and to have less suppliers and parts to inventory.
@@islandman5802 Yes of course they have different parts numbers since the logo on the wheel is different. If you look at the steering wheel control buttons you'll notice the switch gear is the same though. And I'm not blaming them for sharing parts, frankly speaking the Actros is an excellent working environment.
I've driven freightliners, W900s, 389s, T2000, T880s. Been driving a 4965ex for six years, and it's the most comfortable driving, and best layed out cab design of any of them. I'm a die hard Western Star fan now.
4965ex???
I love these videos, searching for and finding old iron. I would love to find time to do this in the future.

I love it when you take us to the sales.
More, more!!!!!!
I really injoy your videos love looking at the old trucks

Love the interior of those Macks and the Western Stars and Kenworths look great!
Good evening Mark and Family
Nice old Cabover 👍
Looking forward to around this time next year when I start my search for some old iron 🤠
Y’all take care and be safe up there 🤠🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Got a chuckle when you said "this is the last truck honey". My wife was in the kitchen and she just laughed, as that's what I tell her.:)
I laughed, too.
Wow !that was awesome, just keep getting better and better . I on the ferry system between Cape Breton and Newfoundland and seeing less and less of the traditional big rig style . Aerodynamic and fuel economy has certainly changed the styles of the iron . Twinsticks is keeping it alive , I wouldn’t see a cab over now maybe once a month . Another great video !!! Thank you
Normally I prefer the pre '85 round headlight K100's but that E model was one sweet truck! Thanks for taking us along to the auction.
Thanks for review. So many interesting trucks in one place!
Best video ever. Thanks Twin Sticks!
Посмотрел...и только расстроился...какая прелесть...выбор..офигеный...👏👏😉👍👍👍
That cabover was really sweet!
Super singles are lighter and have less drag. With dualies one can get reach the next exit if a tyre blows.
@@lydiaanderson9765 That would be nice! How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
I just want to tell you how much I really enjoy your videos. I started watching way back when you found old blue and I don't know how your channel popped up on my page but I'm sure glad it did because I've been following you ever since. I have always been into big trucks my whole life being a farmer I would like to invest in one for hauling grain. I will probably end up with a cabover someday but it sure is fun watching you work on that old iron because it makes people like me see that it's really not that hard when you just put a little work into it. I'm just a little farmer from Northwest Iowa / Southeast South Dakota watching some guy in Canada fix up semi trucks and I look forward to every single new episode believe me.
It's been a pretty crappy year for me but it sure is nice to be able to just get away from it all sometimes and watch the Good Ol RUclips videos so thank you for what you do because I'm sure it's just as much work has wrenching on that old iron sometimes. Thank you and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart buddy. -Keith-
What a cabover, classic old with a sprinkle of modern to it.
Dont get any better than that!
Saw an old 70s freightliner cabover on my way to work this morning, rarely see them but there still a few on the road
That Kenny cabover was killer awesome. I actually liked the extended sleeper look... beautiful!! That K100 COE was complete and would've been a nice addition to your vintage fleet. The search continues...
@Hello James how are you doing
29:00 "gonna won won won won won a done, gonna dodododdododoodododoodododododoododododododoodo" :D
Great video! It was cool walking through that yard and seeing all the different trucks.
Love that Cabover ... Thanks for sharing..
The ol' K100 COE is a beauty!!!! 👍 👍 👍 $32,000 seemed like a good deal for the seller and buyer!
I totally agree. Very nice condition and the buyer knows exactly what they are getting. Hard to find anything that clean with CAT power any more. It could go right to work or be kept as a truck they put to work once and while in nice weather.
I'll be happy if I can get half that for my '79 Kenworth K100
Love the trailer park boys clips 👍
Agree completely on the steering wheel! Great video! Also the lights!
A play tractor...I love it! I thought I was the only one who has a 'play tractor'. And love the old K-walker cabover, what a beaut! Great video, keep up the good work!!
Marc, that cab over. Sweet. I liked the scat at the end as well, differnet music choice hahaa.
Always a good day when twin sticks makes a post thanks for awesome content
Great video mate keep up the great work. I always look forward to watching your videos.
We call a moose catcher a “bull bar” in Australia
Love your content keep it up 👍
Well they are just called bull bars haha, but moose catcher, or roo catcher whatever he said again. Cool nicknames for them.
Bull Bar or Roo Bar
Not Roo catcher
Alot of truckers I know around Victoria call them Roo Bars
Anti-zombie bar
@@user-pd5vu9jz7h now that more like it
Enjoyed your video. FYI regarding the super single tires on the rear axle, people use those for weight savings only. Converting a dual set to a super single on the tandem will save you around 400 pounds total.
I liked that you showed us the sleepers each time. A lot of people don’t do that and frankly I love seeing them.
Wow, that K100 brings back memories. I drove an `88 for a couple years very similar to the one in The video. 425 Cat and no jake. It was charcoal gray with button tuft gray interior.
Great vid, you know how to tease yourself! I was betting on you pushing the button to bid!
One day! 😉
That was a good looking cabover, would love to have that one.
People with fathers like this who care. Please hug him and never take home for granted because. There’s people out here who never had that opportunity to grow up with a father.
I had to listen to that cab over the engine several times. I love old semi engine sound.
everytime he said ew to the def i just laughed my ass off i feel the same way there was some neat iron there
Not a trucker - what does DEF mean?

That cabover cost more used than my 352 with a 108 BBC. Rolled and tucked naugahyde, eldorado seat 1974 Pete. Did I forget to say torsion bar suspension. 25000. Yesterday in the day, 360 cat, 13

I can just watch you check and talk trucks all day. greetings from New York

when I go to the auction I go straight to the back where i belong got no time for all the plastic and def trucks
😅😂😂🤣🤣
Like I said before I'm new to your channel but I like that you go to these trucks auctions thank you so much have a great day
Those trucks up there in Canada seem to be cheap compared to auctions down here in Florida! Enjoy watching your videos!!!
G'day twin sticks as a big fan and Australian we don't just call The moose Bar a kangaroo bar but a bull bar as well. Love your videos
Why do I think back to the song "Scatman" with Scatman John when listening to the auctioneer in the end? Haha..
😂 I doubt many people remember Scatman...... pee pa pa pa pa-ra po
@@kokekrisuri Maybe old nowdays but never forgotten :)
Skibidibidiyondidumduh that songs title has a very different meaning now lol
@@killthebums Hahahaha :P
Never understood that song...Scat means human shit in slang, never understood why he wanted to be a shit man.
Wow that cabover ken's beaut that the previous owner def. cares for!
Thanks in a million. Great content. Awesome. Grade: A++💥
Hah, DEF is for luring California Girls (I make joke). Wow a Tachograph in the old 9000, wonder if they still make the discs for those things.. Cab overs are nice but I spent too much time in them, always felt like I was going down hill even when parked. Had a 76 Star with a 350 Cummins and an 18 speed, single axle long frame wrecker 650 Holmes cranes on it for doing tractor swaps, that was a smooth ride on the highway. Auctions, the only place a guy can gamble and still walk away with some cash in your pocket if your smart..lol Thanks for the Share, Stay Safe!
@Hello John how are you doing
REALLY LIKE when you put year and sold price. keeps me from "i wonder how much..."
Hi Would love to get one to buy
+ would love to see mileage of each as well as you did in some.

That Kenworth K100E was a nice truck. I like the older trucks like that from the 70s and 80s.
LOL. I love your TPB references. I loved that show, up until around the 10th season. Then it just got weird and they went all sorts of strange directions with it.
Love seeing your progress and your "On the hunt" videos. :)
Mornin I hope you had a great day at the sale, I'm sure I'm not the first one to tell you that Western star was bought out by Freightliner some years back. I have drove both of those and my preference is the Freightliner Coronado, really enjoyed driving it. There are just a few small differences in driving the two trucks but I do like the Freightliner better. Really liked the look of the Kenworth cabover, I have accually seen that truck on the highway working, good looking truck and yes those old KW cabover are a hot seller now. I have a friend who lives south of me he has an old KW cabover tandem grain truck but sadly he has let it go to past the point of restoration. If your ever coming through Whitecourt again please feel free to give me a call my wife always has the coffee on and if your hungry you will get way better than bread heels here. You can message me on facebook, I got about 45 years of trucking stories I can share with you. Have a great day my friend really enjoyed the video.
@@lydialas1649 I'm good how are you?
@@lydialas1649 Sorry my wife wouldn't be happy about that please don't reply back

That K100 was so sweet, talk about a fun toy to drive
What a great video. What you guys look at is amazing depending on what you're doing. Continued success.
COE’s are getting popular again. Makes me wish I still had my old Pete with screaming 8V71
That cab over looks like one of Arctic Cats factory race trucks.
I love old & new trucks.. I just love trucks, not just square hoods. Square, aerodynamic, and cab overs. Trucks! 🚚
Awesome trip with all the trucks, quite painstaking during the snowfall
If peterbilt does a away with the 389 style truck they will go outta business. Too many truckers want that style truck.

What's t lg e story on that red Kenworth? Is there a way you could get a better video on it showing the entire truck in terms of what it looks like?
After only 20 seconds on your channel I already subscribed. I’m not into rigs very much but when you say that you’ve had your bread heels dipped in bacon grease - I ABSOLUTELY lost it. I have been laughing for a good 15 mins
Thats my favorite cab over ever made. Thats a bad ass truck right there. And its packing a kitty cat. And it looks like it only needs a bath
I have a 83 362 big cab you can have if you come to Wyoming and get it. And it needs a motor too
Would you still happen to have this ??
Love those old girls
Drop me a B Model cat in it
New sub!
Curitiba, Parana, Brazil :D
Just got me one today, 1977 Pete 352 and I could t be more excited
Minute 22:06 was like seeing land after being at the drift for months. What a beauty. In generla terms, I guess there are some very good opportunities. Kudos, I enjoy your video enormously.
I have no idea how I found you, but I’m definitely staying
Those newer models were probably there due to the “eww DEF!”
And how mega carriers want them gone at like 500,000-700,000 miles
I just hate DEF. Some politician gets a Christmas bonus and the repair shops pre order fuel pumps and get the gold. Truckers just get the shaft.
very intersting. You made it interesting by adding the graphics for the prices That is the question EVERYONE has, and is the only reason i kept watching.
Good guess on the old brick....and yes a complete truck, ready to go.
you think Super singles are expensive.... you should try dragging one around the shop to install or rotate.. they weight more than a dead horse.
And when they blow you screwed on the shoulder needing a tire AND a rim. No thanks
you should see what they do to fenders and mudflaps.... ive seen a super rip the fenders clean off a pneumatic trailer.
@@imbadwrench yeah, imagine would that big ass belt would do to a car that's carelessly driving along side. I'm not a fan of them at all
they have their place in the market... cement trucks, offroad trucks. I can;t tell you how many times I had to send a road service out because I driver got a rock between his doubles on the sand pad.
just not on the highway.
When I was an owner operator trust me I was concerned about every mile I could get out of my fuel. with that being said, if I where to become an owner operator in a class 8 truck I would look for the 689 with the aero package (if I went with pete)
the way I see it, even if you saved 1 dollar for every mile you drove, considering that truck was close to a million miles that truck could have kept almost a million dollars in your pocket in fuel costs. but that is just my rough guestimate pulled strait out of thin air....
Sure the old school looking trucks look cool, but if I am buying the fuel then Forget looks I would rather have the money.
When I owned my little box truck freightliner my driving style completely changed after a couple trips to the pumps because it was hurting my bottom line.
drove a fl coronado . everything in the interior was cheap junk . freigtliner went down hill from the old classic
Good guess on the '86! That was a clean rig!
The T680’s are a very comfortable ride. Loved mine
"Not sure how I feel about headlights in the fenders"
You bought an A model Kenny Twin.
Haha suppose you’re right 🤣
@@TwinStix It's not the lights its the truck they put around them.
How to build a semi, the basics: start with the grill and lights, and go from there
@@TwinStix That K100 is the star of the yard!
Ew... DEF. Yea that makes sense.
My God, the opening with the amount of trucks! Have a good day from Arkansas, USA!
I have to give the 579 my favorite tractor. Was issued it new, put 125K miles on it in a year. Fantastic tractor, comfortable, powerful, no problems whatsoever.
Such a shame how freightliner has destroyed the once great western star brand.
Great videos man, I love trucks and cold weather!
The face Bubbles makes eatin them bread heels and bacon grease is priceless 🤣🤣

I used to have a K100 108” cabover just like this. 400 Cummins with a 15 speed. Great old truck.
My father drove a truck JUST LIKE that cab over you showed….brings back a lot of memories being a kid riding with him!! I used to fall asleep on the center part because it vibrated!! I am from the states, I didn’t get into trucking unfortunately. I joined the military and drove R-11 refueler’s for years until I got medically discharged!!
