I don’t know who else to ask.
I am not sure when you recieved yours but they just released a new firmware that is suposed to correct the colored artifacts when starting. It also has some other bug fixes. It will only show the logo when it does a full boot. Normally when you turn off the truck the radio will just sleep and not power off all the way. This is so it can start up faster when you get back in the car. If you do not start the truck for a long period the radio completely shuts off. This is when you will see the logo as it has to full boot from off.

If you had the backup camera on the radio then OBD port is only used to show your rpm and speed info on the console. If you dont need those then yes. If you had your camera on the review mirror then the OBD port is also used to let the radio know when you go into reverse. You will also need to wire your mirror camera to the radio.(this is a seperate harness) So if you have a mirror camera and wire it to the radio and dont hook it up you will lose the automatic showing of your reverse camera. You can always run a reverse wire if your OBD does not work for reverse. There is a seperate input for reverse camera(switching and video input) if you did not have either. Either way you can hook it up but you will lose some features depending on the original funcitons of the truck. Hope that makes sense.

@@Icesack Its not terible but its not really good. The radio does support an aftermarket camera. It has an RCA input and reverse input on the main harness. Okay so I installed this and I have a couple problems, 1 - when I start it my screen looks like it’s broken and then goes to normal after a minute. 2 - mine is not showing a Tacoma where the rpm’s and speed are it’s just a blank black screen on half the unit. 3 - sometimes when I put it into drive the gear stays in reverse on the screen and speedometer but I’m in drive and it’s turning on my engine and trac off light. Do you think I have a defective unit or do you think I plugged something in wrong? I know it’s probably kinda hard for you to say since you can’t see it, but any advice is helpful! I don’t know who else to ask.
I am not sure when you recieved yours but they just released a new firmware that is suposed to correct the colored artifacts when starting. It also has some other bug fixes. I would try this first to see if it corrects your issues.
It can be found here www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tesla-style-head-unit.737247/page-22 on post #439.
Its kind of a long read now, but there are also some good settings that people are using in the thread. Aucars contact info is on the first page.

Silly question…. Can you change the color of the Tacoma that is displayed on the Home Screen?
You can. The Tacoma xrunner image you see in the video is actually a picture I made myself. You can change that and the startup/boot image to anything you want.
@@jonm8975 thanks I really appreciate the response. What’s your opinion on the unit after having it for a little bit?
I love it. It’s the best android unit I have used so far. Once you use the big screen everything else seems mediocre.

Man I’m trying to follow along for install, but idk why you’re in such a rush. Also, idk why you skip to the part where everything’s plugged in, I would’ve liked to have watched that part.. geesh 🥴
Sorry, it was already a long video. let me know if you have any questions I will try to help out if I can.
@@jonm8975 it’s okay I got it figured out, those dang instructions they send are so unhelpful tho. Anyways, do you possibly know what the cause of, and if there’s any solution to the occasional music skipping/cut out with these head units? It’s not terrible but sometimes I feel for the cost of it, at the bare minimum it should play good music of all the features lol
you selling the old unit?
I see this is listed as having 4x45W channels do you think this unit can power 4 low tier Rockford Fosgate speakers (R169x3) in the Tacoma?
I know alot of people are runing this without an amp, so it should work ok. For the best sound I would run a small power pack amp. In reality you probably only get 20w-30w of power per channel.

How did you change your ‘Music’ icon to point to ZLink?
In settings you can set the custom icon application. I just choose zlink
Does the kit come with all the wiring minus the shark fin wiring?
yes, it comes with all the wiring.
I can't get the radio to connect to my Bluetooth? Phone n contacts....cant figure it out. Help
Are you using bluetooth? it should be fairly straight forward if not using CarPlay. If carplay use zlink. If not just connect like any other device. On you phone you will need to allow it to sync contacts.
do you have a link to get more yellow clips ? mine broke & i can not find them
You can find them on amazon just search toyota radio clips.
Hola buenos días. Disculpa donde puedo encontrar ese equipo para instalarlo en mi camioneta

Hi Jon !! Where should I install the GPS antena that comes with unit?
I usually just stick it on the dash support bar behind the radio. It still works good, try to make sure it’s not under anything metal.
This way you don’t have to see it or run any wires.
Thanks jon! Really appreciate it
great video!
Is it compatible with Apple devices?
Will this unit work if I run the Bullydog gt tuner on my 13 Tacoma? Thanks for the video
This should not interfere with the bully dog tune. You may need a obdii splitter if you need the obdii port. But tuning wise you’ll be fine. I run a hptunners custom map with no issues.
Jon M ….. is this unit compatible with iPhones?
Yes it is, I use it with CarPlay everyday. They have a new model out also. I just posted some videos of it on my channel. aucarauto.com/product/pre-order-aucar-tesla-android-11-12-1-car-radio-gps-navigation-for-toyota-tacoma-2005-2015-car-multimedia-stereo-player-car-video/
on my 2013 tacoma will i need another adapter for the back up camera since the current viewer is on the rear view mirror or is there any splicing needed to install? If so is there a specific video that covers it?
I don’t have a video but this harness is used to display the camera on the mirror on the new screen. camerasource.com/accessories/2013-tacoma-mirror-to-radio-camera-conversion.html
@@jonm8975 in the q&a section it says it will not work on aftermarket head unit and it will disable the temperature and other function on the mirror i like having the auto dimming
@@lawrenceratliff9962 I know this will work with the Tesla screen. I am not sure it you will lose the auto dimming and temp. There is a guy with it on the Tacoma forum. You can ask him if he lost any other features. www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tesla-style-head-unit.737247/
What about steering wheel controls . Do they work too in all functions ?
Yes, all the steering wheel controls work.
Hi jon , I have a 2015 toyota tocuma trd sport . Will it work on my truck.
Yes, mine is 2015 Xrunner.
Hi man, what kind of dash cover is that? :o
It’s a covercraft ltd edition cover.
is the unit shipped from outside of United States if so what is average delivery time?
The delivery is from china. Usually takes 5-10 days DHL
Do they make these for 3rd gen? This is amazing
This is only for the second gen. I seen Phoenix automotive is coming out with one for the third gen. It’s on there site and looks good. I am just not sure about the company. They don’t have the best reviews.
For what this is, I was really surprised that the price isn't higher.
@Ben Gonzales I was thinking the same. Seems cheap as hell for something that would look so bad ass.
I saw another video of this, the buttons on the sides of it sound cheap and plasticy. Still on the fence about this product.
btw this is a smaller/cheaper one but it's only for 2005-2013 Tacoma's: ruclips.net/video/soOtLI1rUsg/видео.html - it doesn't replace the A/C controls or the hazard button/clock above that. Still on the fence about getting one of these products though.
Whenever I turn on my car, I never see the boot image. It's just blank and then goes to the main screen. Any idea on how to show it every time? Also it won't let me download Netflix!!! Any clue on how to do this? ANYONE?
It will only show the logo when it does a full boot. Normally when you turn off the truck the radio will just sleep and not power off all the way. This is so it can start up faster when you get back in the car. If you do not start the truck for a long period the radio completely shuts off. This is when you will see the logo as it has to full boot from off.
will this unit work on my 2014 toyota tacoma prerunner???
Yes it does fit.
Pardon me did u make the dash mat?
No, its from dash designs. www.dashdesigns.com/i-31417459-2015-toyota-tacoma-dash-cover.html?ref=category:1337840

steering wheel controles ?? does that transfer? o boy !! love it
@@spotless624 The gps does not need a cell phone to work. The u it has its own gos antenna. You can use any navigation app that lets you download the maps this way you can have navigation with no cell service. The steering wheel controls also work. I definitely think it’s worth it. I have had no issues since install.
I’m installing mine this weekend and curious there is no info on wiring the reverse Orange wire for the backup camera; also no info on parking brake wiring. Any tips? My old pink wire from my factory harness is just hanging out.

Hey jon , Does it support xm radio.
it only supports internet xm radio.
does the sound of the speakers/tweeters improve?
I think it does. It has a DSP so you can tune the sound to your liking.
My ac turns on everytime I put my truck into reverse? How do I fix this?
I would contact Aucar via whats app, they should be able to send you a CAN update.
I have never heard of this issue, what year is your tacoma?

If the OBD port doesnt work in the Tacoma can you just not install it?
If you had the backup camera on the radio then OBD port is only used to show your rpm and speed info on the console. If you dont need those then yes.
If you had your camera on the review mirror then the OBD port is also used to let the radio know when you go into reverse. You will also need to wire your mirror camera to the radio.(this is a seperate harness)
So if you have a mirror camera and wire it to the radio and dont hook it up you will lose the automatic showing of your reverse camera.
You can always run a reverse wire if your OBD does not work for reverse. There is a seperate input for reverse camera(switching and video input) if you did not have either.
Either way you can hook it up but you will lose some features depending on the original funcitons of the truck.
Hope that makes sense.
@@jonm8975 I've heard the original backup camera resolution is really bad can you upgrade the camera and have it still work with this unit (assuming you did install the ODB 2)?
@@Icesack Its not terible but its not really good. The radio does support an aftermarket camera. It has an RCA input and reverse input on the main harness. It also has an input for front and side camera. You will not need the obd for switching if you use an aftermarket camera. You will still need it for RPM and Speed.

sorry for the questions, but do you know size HDD this device can read from? and can it handle the PLEX app? would love to be able to utilize my plex server on this
Not sure on the max but I have a 128gb and it reads fine.
Plex should work good if you have a good internet connection.
@@jonm8975 Thanks man. They did confirm Plex but gave a strange answer about HDD/Thumb drive size, so I reached back out and they are having an engineer reach out to me.
They said a 500gb HDD would work, but only a 32gb thumb drive. I find that hard to believe since they present themselves the same. My guess is it's a different between NTFS and FAT32 but it's clear as mud right now :) Hopefully I have an answer today.
