I’ve been studying online and have watched many videos for quite a while. I would love to just get in the seat with someone who is willing to listen and watch and be by my side. The Instuctor I know of is real old and does things the old way and flies in an old school 172. The electronics are where it’s at. I’m a different kind of learner these days and can’t afford all that classroom time. Not being conceited, just happen to know plenty already and would like to show someone that I can.
@@ac583 What if I purchased a plane with a glass cockpit like many small planes are equipped with now, and the only local instructor knows the old school six pack setup? Am I screwed or do I have to teach him? Everyone can drive a car but are you a Pinto pilot or a Porsche pilot. Ah, Pintos aren’t around anymore for a reason. Get my drift?
It seems the sport pilot was designed for very small people. I want my sport pilot license but the 1360 pound to light. Im 300 pounds, if my flight instructor is 250 to 300 pounds most of the LSA aircraft would be to heavy. Making my only option, Private pilot in a Cessna 172. Thats also cost alot more. I hope the FAA will raise to weight of LSA in the future so big guys like myself can enjoy aviation.
Well the flight design is 7 inches wider than the Cessna 172 and also wider than a 182, even a full inch wider than a cardinal. However at 300lbs You may have some issues and would probably be better in a 172 for private if that's possible. It may be a bit cozy or find a 182 to train in .
I'm in the same situation. I'm 6'4" at 305 pounds. I would love to get my sport pilot license too and enjoy aviation. I don't want the cost associated with private license or have to deal with any medical exams. Why can't LSA be extended to a heavier planes?. So bigger guys can enjoy it too. I intend to use aviation as a form of transportation just as we use automobiles. I just don't get why the FAA limited LSA to 1360 pounds.
@@davidfulkerson1187 actually they have agreed to increase the weight , the question is when will that happen. www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/LSA-Weight-Limit-Increasing-To-3600-Pounds-231639-1.html
I like the lsa and experimental word and live in the north east plus my area is full of Bravo class air space and windy , I mostly see all Cessna and piper aircraft flying around here so that’s y I asked about lsa and sport aircraft in my area how would it handle
Matt's a great instructor! He got me into flying, good luck with your training!
Im in love with the CTLS model

you sound like somebody who has no business being around airplanes.

Just lose weight lol
You mean average bmi people? Even at 6'5 300 is way up there in bmi. Just sayin no hate
Question ,,, flying an Flight design Ctls compared to a Cessna 172 in different wind conditions cross wind and handling in flight
To me both felt solid in flight , 172 a heavier feel in wind , ctls faster. Crosswind 172 better but i have no issues with 10 knot crosswind in ctls

@@AnthonyDigi1205 i am pretty sure a 172 and ctls have the same max crosswind of 16 knots. And true an lsa can't land at a bravo.
wingnutsworld even with a PPL license? Can’t fly through b class air space
@@AnthonyDigi1205 only sport pilot can't..sorry yes with ppl you may.
What is Zane I think you said ? That equipment on top of the dash .
Kevin ..its a dated tcas traffic unit. Adsb is way better.. I have the garmin gdl 52
wingnutsworld ok gotcha thanks . I typed Zane aircraft and got nothing in google lol.
Google Zaon
Might like to move your visors off he horizon next time...
What happened to this plane? FAA's database shows it's no longer suitable for operation.
? Can you send a link in you have it. Im in flight design forums and havent seen anything
FAA busted it for ridiculous vertical registration on the dash.
