  • Ahoy Friends,
This week we start the process of installing a Whale Gusher Foot Pump. The first step in this process was to determine where it made sense to install, on my 1965 Alberg 30 I decided to recess it under the stove enclosure in the starboard stowage area.
I have an electric water pump onboard that works perfectly fine but I wanted to install a foot pump to help regulate how much fresh water is used. Later on during the final galley rebuild I will install a salt water hand pump at the sink allowing for easy washing with salt water then a quick rinse with fresh water when needed.
On this episode we cut out the hole for the pump, design a simple shelf type bracket that the foot pump is mounted to then dry fit it under the stove to see how she fits.
Next week we go drill the holes for the hoses and run all new hoses forward to the water tank.
Thanks to our Patrons for your continued support! The new GoPro we purchased with your contributions has made filming so much easier and more reliable on the boat.
Thanks to everyone for watching and if you like this episode please give us a "LIKE" and leave us a comment with any questions or just to say hi.
    Until Next Week,
    Fair Winds,

Thank you! Watched your videos and installed one of the foot pumps in my 1964 camper, so I won't need water hookups and can boondock anywhere. Super helpful!

Good idea, my 71 A30 has a hand pump at the sink. I may use it for salt water and use a foot pump for fresh water.

James, I'm a fan of your show and found it strictly because I am also a fan of the designs of Carl Alberg. I just wanted to take a minute and say I really love the "A 30" shirt you are wearing in this episode. Keep up the good work. I hope to buy an old Alberg myself one day soon and your how to videos are great and will help for sure.

Thanks Jeremy, I have a shop online where people can buy the A30 shirts. I wanted one for myself so I made one on this "print on demand" website and figured I would keep up available for anyone else who wanted one. There are lots of old Albergs out there so you will find yours I am sure!

Sweet. I just ordered one. Can't wait until I wear it and someone asks what it means.

Dude, your videos are interesting to watch and your podcasts equally captivating. Watching you do projects on Tritea is therapeutic. I didn't champion the whale gusher idea until i saw your IG post about battery and water conservation. So i also installed one too. 2 Questions?? 1. What was the reason for removing the electric pump, vs.placing the foot pump in line? and 2.where are the red curtains for that "stage"? keep up the good work!

I considered leaving the electric pump installed and doing a splitter but in the end I couldn't figure out a reason do leave it hooked up. I want as simple as systems as I can get on a boat so removing extra stuff just makes sense to me. I hope all of your projects are coming along nicely and you are on track to visit Santa Cruz !

Does the pump make the water taste weird? Like plastic?
