    LAY HO MA (how's it going in Cantonese)! This recipe may be a labour of love but it is one of the most delicious and simple dishes. Join me in this episode and learn how to make a heavenly sweet coconut black rice pudding recipe right at home!
    Ingredients:
    1/2 cup taro
    1/2 cup black rice
    3 tbsp cane sugar
    pinch of salt
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    1 1/2 cups full fat canned coconut milk
    2 cups water
    chopped mango to serve
    Directions:
    1. Peel the taro and chop 1/2 cup worth into small cubes
    2. Rinse and drain the black rice 2-3 times. Add to a saucepan and stir on medium heat for about 2min
    3. Add the cane sugar, salt, vanilla extract, taro, coconut milk, and water
    4. Bring to a boil stirring occasionally
    5. When it comes to a boil, turn the heat down to medium. Then, stir every 10min or so for about 1 to 1.5 hrs. It is also possible that the pudding may reach your desired thickness in less time

    I'd tried this dessert before, you can actually put all ingredients in a Instant Pot /pressure cooker for 20 mins, it will come out exactly the same result, literally save you stirring it for an hour and half. Overall well done for demonstrating a beautiful dessert 🍨

    • @alvareo92
      @alvareo92 2 года назад +1

      It is physically not possible for it to come out *exactly the same* if you cook it fast on a pressure cooker for 20 min or if you slow cook it for an hour and a half without a lid on. But it’s good to know you can also enjoy this recipe on a shorter time period!

    • @huipinloh9034
      @huipinloh9034 2 года назад +10

      @@alvareo92 Try it then you know what I'm talking about. The time for the pressure cooker to cook takes 20 mins , but it will takes an hour for the pressure to come down before it allow you to open the lid, so the cooking time is actually same. I didn't say it reduce the amount of time for cooking, just save you stirring it for an hour and half, the pressure cooker does the job for you.

      Of course....it'll just take a whole lot longer. It doesn't matter which ever method you want to use -- pressure cooker, stove top, or slow cooker. It all boils down to the length of time it needs to get it to the right consistency. @@wolfdudercp

    Looks amazing. Can’t wait to try this. Just have to say, when you make Will’s recipes, make them exactly how he says the first time. Trust in the Yeung man...he will not steer you wrong. I made his lentil rice recipe. Followed the directions and the result was AMAZING! Next time I made some adjustments & additions coz that’s what I do and the result was meh. Now I follow his recipe, no changes, no additions, no reductions. If you don’t make it like he says, it’s not his recipe and there’s no guarantee of results. Just my opinion but Will knows what he is doing. Best not to mess with the master lol 😉

I usually cook the rice first until they are ready then add coconut n sugar last, to avoid the cream breaks. So i hv been taught by my mum and her mum too i believe.
