To make it easier to get the coconut out of the shell I freeze the coconut before. You just have to open one of the holes and get the water out. Freeze the coconut for 2 days and crack it open. The nut will shrink and loose from the shell.

I live in Malaysia and we have lots of coconut trees. However, only until recently, I have only used the coconut milk ( we called it “santan “ in Malaysia) to cook curry dishes. Nowadays we have many coconut drink stalls that use young coconut meat to make coconut shakes with added fruits like avocado, mango, etc . Coconut shakes is now my favourite drink. So yummy.

I watched your video and your a amazing chef. I was just curious if I have a coconut that is brown what is the best way to remove the shell from the husk of the coconut?, and also when pouring coconut water out of it and when brown with husk fibers or hairs how can I remove the husk fibers and dirt so the coconut water is clear?. Also how do I know when coconut water is bad when pouring it into a cup?. Sorry about all these questions it’s first time harvesting a coconut 😅.

Thank you for this. You make it look so easy, probably because you are professional. I tried cracking open a coconut once 3 years ago and it was a method I used by putting the coconut in an oven then cracking it where the eyes are, that took ages and getting the coconut meat out took me 3 hours. I never bought coconut again.

I’ve just been wondering, how do you know then if the coconut is fresh, I’m not sure I caught you say it specifically. I’m asking because I’ve done it 3 times now and the first one lasted for 3 days but the other two only for a day and then it got weirdly lumpy 🫣😅 what am I missing?

What are your thoughts on putting the cracked coconut into a 400 degree oven for 12-13 minutes then the coconut releases completely from the shell with just a little nudging from a butter knife? Do you think this cooks the coconut? I saw this technique and tried it. It works perfectly but I did see some steam coming off the coconut.

Therefore it is a treat occasionally enjoyed, usually at our favorite Thai restaurant or when I get a craving for vegan rice pudding.
