      Probably it would be a good opportunity to add all the nova and DPS-check gimmick as well, not just Escaton Judgment. EJ was the most hated nova, but personally, Ecliptic Meteor, Safi'jiiva doing a double nova back to back and MR Kulve Taroth flat out leaving were far worse.

    speaking of cutscenes theres two ways they could make em work in multiplayer:
    1. everyone sees the cutscene but with their own hunter in it or
    2. all hunters are seen in the cutscene (iirc this was done in Destiny 2)

      1) might not work because it has to seamlessly change to multiplayer, so are all hunters just gonna teleport in on eachother? That might look weird
      2) works in theory and they do it for multiplayer scenes like Iceborne Alatreon or the 4U boss monsters, but it won't work in a story context; like if the hunter has to speak with Alma, who is going to do it? Lot of questions.

      @@HeavyWings yea the teleportation might be the weirder approach. as to who would be the speaker id imagine its the quest/lobby leader but seeing 4 hunters in a cutscene might also be weird in itself

      ​​@@HeavyWings I would take teleporting hunters to the same location over what we have in World. It would be awkward visually, but it would fix the unskippable cutscene issue which I think is less seamless and more awkward to work around than simply teleporting players is anyway. Most of the time if you're playing with your friends you're staying close together anyway.

      @@HeavyWings In FFXIV, a lot of duties have your character interacting with things/being spoken to by NPCs in cutscenes either before the duty starts, or in the middle of it, however, there are also 3 - 7 other player characters in the cutscene with you. Now, amusingly, a lot of the dialogue in cutscenes essentially treats you as the only character there while everyone else is ignored, but this is the same for all of the players experiencing this cutscene individually: their avatar is the one getting the spotlight while everyone else is in the background.
      Theoretically, if they even need to include other hunters in cutscenes where the player is speaking to NPCs, they could do it like this.

      yes, either of those would be easy solutions. and if you join in late you see the cutscene as you enter so there's a bit of a delay for you to show up but other players won't be impacted much.

    Dude, any primary weapon + hunting horn as secondary will be broken af. Self buff is insane to have. Every solo speedruns or heroic runs will probably have HH as their secondary. You can also stun monsters with HH, then go crazy with your primary weapon

    Just the fact that you need tofight the monster normally in order to activate the wounding mechanic already makes it better than the clutch claw

Bro the problem is gaming now is QoL, these mfs out here little bois if you dont give em something that is QoL is not good, idfk, its as if gamers dont even want good games anymore, they just want 0 resistance, 0 work, lots of "QoL" and micronsactions

    In MH4U, multiple players were able to be in the fancy cutscenes. I hope they've brought that back because the coolness factor is literally unmatched

    the most exciting about WILDS is the FOCUS MODE, It seems to be a combination of the LOCK ON , TENDERIZING and SILK BIND moves.

      Lock on sounds terrible ... like, the whole point of Monster Hunter is accurately gauging the right distance and direction to strike.

      Despite the name, hunting has always been the weakest sell of the series. Especially compared to actual hunting games.
      (Seriously if monster hunter wants more hunting they really ought to see what hunting sims do. Like using a palamute for tracking after wounding a monster)
      Combat/fighting has always been the main selling point. It's why it is considered huge whenever a new weapon/mechanic is introduced or a new skill that changes your playstyle.

    About the cutscenes, I've been trying Alatreon with friends and the cutscene is like Shara Ishvalda and Fatalis, you see all 4 hunters but the focus is on the player that posted the quest. I can see them trying that for Wilds, but instead here the focus will be your character every time, like client-side.
    And I agree about the Palicos, they should just meow. World had a big problem with over explaining obvious things so I hope this doesn't mean both handler and your cat will be if it was one of these AAA games where the protagonists won't shut up and tell you what to do.

      MH 4 Ultimate had 4 player cutscenes and the new trailer for Wilds has a lot of referances to MH4U in it.

      I could say the same for the female hunter design, though if i can I would change the hair and make her look more tomboyish I would.
      I wonder if body type modification will be a thing...

      @@kennethsatria6607 I don't think you'll be able to change bodies because then every armour and weapon animation also has to adjust. Might not work properly.

    Focus Mode downside might simply be not being able to dodge during it, as well as sheathing

      focus mode seems more like an easy/accessibility mode or a new version of hunter arts/wirebug moves. So I am skeptical about how balanced it would be.

      @robotmaster1207 nothing nearly that flashy is actually happening in focus mode tho
      Both movements shown (the scraping attack and the jaw gaurd) still leave you vulnerable in other ways
      Like the scraping attack still takes some huge dedication, since... well, greatsword
      Whereas the jaw guard is literally only useful for negating damage taken from a big hit, and leaves you in a state unable to deal damage to counter

    I certainly feel ya about the palicos talking. It could be fine, but I'm one of the people that wasn't too fond of all the voice lines in Rise/Sunbreak. There's just something much more palatable for me about simple grunts over hearing full on sentences, and adding dialogue to both the hunter and palico to that sounds like it could be a bit much for me. The fact that the voice of the palico is a bit extra concerns me too. I'm not upset about it, I think they could implement it in a way that doesn't get too overdone or repetitive, but I do agree that just having an option for the palico to talk via meows like older games sounds more appealing to me. That and the palico sound bites are really iconic to me, it's hard to imagine the palicos without the particular cat noises they used because they sound quite distinct from other cat characters in media I've seen.

      One thing i note is that in the trailer "our" hunter makes one the grunts during a fight, and it's the same one as we had in World, so what I think may happen is that the character will be fully voiced during cut scenes but during combat it will go back to making the World noises without the random barks.
      Also I'm happy that the Palico speaks because it will make them an actual active member of the crew!

      Im really gonna miss the mreows and other sounds, it felt like the humans and palicos can't physically speak the same languages and they just came to understand one anothers. Though i suppose if thats not fixed lore a palico can simply be bilingual

      Voice lines were fine, but WHY are hunters in Rise talking 💩 against monsters?? "Eat this!" makes no sense.

    I hope the Doshaguma pack functions like seltas and S.Queen. Where everyone is a large monster but will be continuously summoned until leader is slain. I doubt it's going to work like that, but would be nice.

      I hope so! I guess we might have armour to pick from, but the option to freely change colours would be nice!

      @@sansotandrea4063 huh not that you mention it, what happens if the monster hits them. Do they have to disengage for a bit? They obviously won't die but they don't seem to actually fight either, so surely they'll still be vulnerable.
      If not armour, clothing options would be great!

    yeah, the izuchi were a good idea in theory but sometimes yeah they would die too soon. then you have rakna-kadaki, who was awesome, with her little flamethrower spider minions. i've always wanted more involved pack mechanics, with unique tactics for each pack monster, and this games seams to be where they are leaning into that a lot.
    it's also really cool that our first 2 new monsters are a bear and an amphibian that uses the ape fanged beast skeleton like garangolm. there's also a sand swimming... leviathan? i think. maybe this flat map and other maps with some flatter zones prevents the issues World had with lagiacrus. it's not like all the zones have to be flat, just give them enough and the rest can have criticality for other monsters.
    yep, those new raptors have bigger brass balls on them than jagras or wolgs, who only gang up on monsters that are downed.
    i'm praying that the raider ride/taxi thing is optional. i want to drive a palamute/car myself, dam it!
    yes! why use a weapon that's not comparable with your set? why not use 2 weapons with similar but different niches that share skills. like gl and cb? why sacrifice almost half your skills when you don't have to? you can even use 2 of the same weapon if you want, like 2 gl with different shelling types or bowguns with the same main ammo for damage but different status ammo.
    db and hammer really don't work as well as you think. one uses element and another uses raw. lance and hh could, i guess, since both favor raw mostly and horn maestro is all you really need for hh, unless you want stamina thief too. this system is more limited than i would like, from my understanding right now, but they may clear up some things on the 7th.

    I think Im gonna bring a greatsword and hammer on default, that's really all I need if the hammer gameplay is as straightforeward as World's was, but if the lance is as good as Rise's then I have this as the good secondary for more defense at faster monsters

      I think by Iceborne I just defaulted to greatswords

    Funny, but when I was thinking about how the tenderizing should have been implemented in Iceborne, it was exactly what Wilds is now proposing: doing enough damage with any attacks to a part until it is weakened. It does make sense realistically. Now, I hope the damage buff will not be as strong as in Iceborne (which would force the game to be balance around it: bad hitzones, very few natural weakspots) and I am a bit skeptical about how it will be balanced among the different weapons as weapons with long reach and which can target single spots easily (GS, Hammer) will have an advantage over low reach weapons (SnS, DB), which usually need to target the legs to induce a down/stagger, then go for the weakspots.
    But as Heavy Wings said in his Clutch Claw video, this time Capcom is introducing new mechanics in the base game instead of the expansion. Which means if they are unbalanced/poorly implemented, Capcom will be able to course correct in the expansion unlike World, which is permanently left with a defective mechanic at the core of its gameplay (still an amazing game, the tenderizing didn't ruin it for me, but it is bad enough to be a source of frustration when playing).

    Do you have any plans to make like some kind of "Wilds wish list" type of video?
    I hope they have multiple movesets (like risebreak/xx), and bring back Valstrax. That aside, I'm happy with whatever they decide to add or change.

    Some skills can work really well between two weapons but also you could also just take one weapon for utility like LBG status ammo or hunting horn buffs.

    I feel like the “scratch” could work, maybe if the monsters still take regular damage from attacks, and the wound just lowers defense below the average, as opposed to capcom thinking that increasing every monsters defense was a good idea

    I imagine that cutscenes seamlessly transitioning to gameplay will only be for village quests, and guild quests will function as normal (provided village and guild quests are a thing in wilds)

    My guess is that swapping weapons also swaps the whole loadout. Either that or the planners will have systems to allow for more skills somehow. Since it’s a main mechanic I’m pretty confident they have thought about skill management and conflicts two weaps create. It’s a pretty obvious questions. Trust the team.

    Repeatedly hitting specific parts to wound them is a lot better than clutch claw. I will miss some of the CC attacks that go with the hammer, but oh well. I cant wait to see how each weapon plays

      I wonder if we'll see the flagship. Afaik It normally takes three trailers for them to really show them, that's how long it took for us to properly see Magnamalo, Malzeno and Nergigante's abilities.

      ​@kennethsatria6607 tbf flagships vary DRASTICALLY in how strong they are
      Rathalos and Lagiacrus are relative, whereas Seregios and Glavenus are both probably above the two of them at least physically, whereas Nergigante and Malzeno are elder dragons pretty distinctly above low tier elders like teo and kushala, whereas Magnamalo is *frustratingly, in my opinion* equal to or greater than the low tier elders and is at pretty close parity to jho and rajang, etc
      Flagships dont rlly have a determined set strength

    Focus mode sounds like special abilities in final fantasy in this case you have to aim and probably select or have a focus skill already selected to be able to unleash it.

    Concerning Skills for 2 different weapons: I think they can make IT a bit easier on us by making some skills be basically a Combination of 2 effects again.
    E.g. Iirc Spare Shot and razor Sharp where the Same Set Bonus in world, similarly I think awakening and ammo Up were Connected in Tri (or maybe another Game) to make the Skill Work with blademaster and gunner.
    Alternatively they could make skills more broadly applicable, like making Normal up, enhance normal ammo, and normal gunlance shelling.

    For a couple of quests they actually handled multiplayer cutscenes well: Behemoth (Repel), Shara Ishvalda (Optional quest), Alatreon and Fatalis (Event), where the cutscene is both skippable and all hunters are shown in them, but they all happen at the start of the quest.
    There's also one for the Shara Ishvalda assigned quest right after Ruiner Nergigante, but that only shows the quest host and it's not skippable
    I'm really excited for weapon swapping but I'm curious if things like weapon gauges and buffs will have their timers paused if you change to a different weapon, or will they just reset entirely? And assuming we can't save two gear loadouts to our Seikrets, will we get more combination skills like Razor Sharp/Spare Shot, Mind's Eye/Ballistics and Free Element/Ammo Up?

    I remember the introduction cutscene of Behemoth in World featured all of the hunters in the quest, but was that immediately at the start of the quest? I can't remember.
    I'd much rather people be able to join the quest, then be set out into the map together, then when the host activates the cutscene the other players either teleport there and appear in the cutscene or they are given the option to essentially farcaster to the host's location after the cutscene's over. Failing that, even being able to queue into the quest is preferable to the way it is now.

      The way it works is that the seamless transition cutscenes ≠ multiplayer. That's been the case even in 4U. But with World they made the story quests playable in multiplayer which lead to the issues.

      @@HeavyWings It seems that in Wilds they are doubling down on the importance of the story, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered to voice the Hunter. It's often been said that the story is mostly set dressing for the games so it was okay if interactions in cutscenes were stiff or awkward. Hopefully they've solved the cutscene issue in some way because of how important they'll probably be in the developer's eyes. In World I essentially went through the game 4 or 5 times, once by myself, then additional times as my friends gradually picked the game up, and the whole waiting for cutscene thing was not fun at all.

    I always knew the cats can talk, but due to them not playing big role to gameplay they just make meow sound. If the older game were remake, i'd imagine the meows would be an audible dialog.

    3:35 - i feel like thats a way for the devs to combat the "skill bloat" thing that is happening on the last games, without taking us back to older installments skill mechanics. i'm very wary of this mechanic because i can think of many ways it could be done poorly ( like compensating having 2 possible weapons with increasing the jewel slots on armor ) - honestly , imo , i'd just rather have a limited amount of skill slots with those old [blademaster/gunner] kinds of sets - so you could rock a blademaster set and functionally use every melee weapon without worrying too much about specifics , and you could use the jewel slots to min/max for the weapon you'd use the most ( like quick sheathe for the ls - but you'd still be able to use a hammer or smth along these lines )

    Well if u main a blunt weapon like hammer or hunting horn you can finally chop of a tail because of weapon switch. And after that u just switch back to your mainweapon. :D

      More leviathans would be cool! I've seen people speculating about it, I think we'll find out more on Friday.
      HBG rapid firing is interesting. But I'm not too familiar with the weapon so the implications are lost on me.

    with the cutscene thing, i bet its just gonna be like what they did with share ishvalda. after ruiner nergi she spawns but if you do ruiner in multiplayer, the cutscene still triggers with everyone there, but everyone just follows the host hunter, would work but it might be jank for seamless transitions

      Yeah that could be better. I think the thing with Ruiner is that the game is transitioning to a new arena and new fight simultaneously, while with every other quest a cutscene plays mid-hunt, which causes issues when other players are present.
      With Rise we had a few mid-hunt scenes but zero of them involved the hunter (Narwa and Ibushi falling in the holes)

    If they learned from iceborne, they won't give us anything that disrupts gameplay flow as harshly as clutch claw did. They even gave us the shaver deco and increased the duration of tenderised parts in a bandaid patch. They know full well that clutch claw was big mistake. In their iceborne dev video they didn't even mention it ONCE lol

    I'm still holding out hope that skills are divided between defense, utility and offense among the armor pieces and weapons. I know I need to explain that further so here goes:
    0. Have the Weapons also have skill slots and those skills are more weapon specific like Quick Morph on a Charge Blade or Artillery on a Gunlance. Or Elements for some of the elemental weapons. Like Kirin weapons having built in Thunder Attack+ as an example
    1. Have the Arms have more general offense skills like attack up, or weakness exploit, or slugger
    2. Leg Pieces would have skills for defense and movement utility like Flinch Free, or Evade Window, or Marathon Runner
    3. Chest and waist would have defense skills and capacity based utilities like Ammo Up or Slinger Capacity or Divine Blessing
    4. Head pieces would have more utility stuff like Ear Plugs, mounting master, or KO resistance.
    Basically when not considering gems, the skills would be more parts specific. So when you do swap the more weapon specific skills would be mostly swapped out with the weapon, and you're less punished for changing weapon types or swapping between elemental and non elemental for example. Because the rest of your armor set still helps you out in pretty much the same way as it did before the weapon was swapped.
    This would slightly limit the freedom of going the extreme route with your skills like 100% crit builds for example, but it would also bring out more variety to builds as well. Again though you'd still have your gem slots and charms if you really really want to go to the extremes with that kind of stuff.

    It's amazing to me how we are attracted/repulsed by very, very different things.
    I absolutely hate the character designs - especially Alma and Gemma, and feel that they look like something out of Forespoken or modern Final Fantasy titles, and here you go on about how you love how they look.
    Really good reminder that our complaints and worries are truly only our own, and we never get to speak for others.

    I agree with you with the Palico talking in terms of how they should speak. If they are speaking in English, I would prefer them to play it straight and avoid the cat puns for the most part. So far, it seems like they're speaking normally but there hasn't been too much said yet.

    I have some major concerns about MH:Wilds.
    Capcom has been making the mictrotransactions worse with each release and at some point they’re gonna cross a line, I just hope isn’t with Wilds. Plus after Dragons Dogma I’m worried about how well optimized the game will be at launch.
    Then there’s more specific concerns, with the hunters and palicos speaking they might start putting too large an emphasis on story in a franchise that’s just not about that. I REALLY hope you can still disable the in hunt dialogue like you can in Rise. I’m also worried about weapon swapping, the problem is most people probably won’t really use it and just stick to one weapon. If it’s like skill swapping and is completely optional then that’s fine, a good QOL change even, but what if the devs want to make us use it. I can see a world where monsters are designed to be fought with specific weapons or damage types at different points forcing you to swap. That would absolutely suck in my opinion.
    Of course I’m still very excited and hopeful. I 100% agree with what you said about the clutch claw and scratch, it seems like a much better system. The monsters look cool, the regions are beautiful, focus mode looks satisfying.
    If capcom can pull it off and make wilds the best game it can be. Which to me would be a game with Sunbreak’s mechanical design and balancing but World’s production value. It has a good chance of being the greatest game ever made. Only time will tell.

    I think having 2 weapons is totally fine. Personally I don't mind to just have a "main weapon" and a "utility weapon" that I can switch between.
    As for the Felyne... I prefer them to not talk, but if they do, then the english voice acting needs to be at least as good as Japanese version, which it's not.

      I think the English acting is fine, but certain lines are easier to digest when you don't know the language. There are weird casting choices though, like Navirou in Stories JP sounds adorable, but in English is bizarre.

      @@HeavyWings oh yeah Navirou is the more prominent example. My gripe with english Airou(Felyne) in the trailer is that it sounds too stereotypically cutsy cute, like a furry Paimon. Instead in Japanese it's more "weird cute'.
      Also Gemma's English VA lines up with the animated facial expression worse than JP version too.

    The focus of world for environmental interactions, the variety of rise monsters, the vibrant colors of old gen games, the best of Monster Hunter in one game🤩
    And that's why I decided not to watch any more trailers of this game, after rise/sunbreak spoiled in the trailers EVERYTHING that had to offer included final boss.
    Its gonna be painful, but I think it's worth it, in the meantime I'll collect money to buy a Ps5.

    4u already had multi person cutscenes for dala and gog and world even had multi person cutscenes for the last few title updates so I can't imagine after all the negative feedback it's still stupid in wilds

    Making the hunter full voice, I am confident about the story, how can you do a story correct with a a guy who said anything when he is surrounded by people in cutscene, this is the end of cringe moment of your hunter who don't tell. I wanted the voice since I started in mh3u and finally my wish come true

    I really just want the story to be non invasive man.

    Okay, so I can kinda understand why you don't like scount flies, even if I don't agree with you about not knowing the maps. But I do wanna know what you would do instead. Would you go back to the annoying mechanic of paint balls, or would we just do what rise does and uses owls?

      Cohoot was too far in the opposite direction, showing every monster on the map was a bit much.
      I think picking up tracks in World was a good system because it meant that the more you hunted a monster, the faster you would be able to find them.
      I think if their icon is just on the edge of the minimap people would be able to figure out how to get there

    This game might start allowing me too use other languagges on the dialogues... ive always been picking the wyverian, sounds unique, a bit japanesse, but not as... animu.
    The cutscenes should just play for every hunter, using the character of the person that is getting introduce, or just the host... they could do like in MH4 were you could see the rest off the hunters, that was great... but yeah the "you cant enter the quest, there is a cutscene to be seen" is so dumb. One of my friends its been introduce into monster hunter in world, so imagine... it makes us not want to play, and not even myself, its the first monster hunter ii have dropped for a long time, i usually come back in months after finishing it, but world iis just annoying in that sense...
    Anyway, knowing the franchise its going to develop way more into old mechanics... only thing i hope is transmog been as ez as it was on rise, maybe even better, worlds version is one of the most horrible thinggs ive seen.
