Purely from a one-on-one fight perspective, Sunbreak Seething is my favorite. That being said, having Bazel’s invader status stripped from him in the same game he debuted in was unfortunate. I hope Bazel’s next appearance makes him a proper invader again while maintaining the changes Rise gave him.

I find it interesting how no two people pronounce his name the same way. I've heard 2 different versions from Capcom themselves I think and neither are the ones you or I chose (BAHzel Goose). I personally pronounce it BAYzull Juice.
Bazel is definitely a top 5 monster overall from Gen 5 for me and had the biggest impact between having the first unique theme in the game and making his first appearance without much fanfare from the game. Just suddenly the camera pans to a new HUGE monster and the music changes. I loved that. He is actually a relatively simple monster overall in terms of moveset, in fact it's generally pretty easy to avoid most of his direct attacks, but when you consider all of his moves are designed to scatter and arm his bombs and they're the real stars of the show then he's actually VERY well designed.

With the wyvern ridding ut comoletely ruined the invador mechanic, and i don't really like that his bombs have a precise placement. I really like the additions they gave Seething tho

Word Bazel = Best Bazel, at least for me.
Bazel was this extremely memorable monster in world, for basically everyone. And since then i personally felt like its been a downward spiral for it. While the fight overall was quite simple, the difficulty came with the randomness of the bombs.
Besides the design, seething bazel, was a bit of a disappointment, as the main thing i remember from the fight was it just charging back and forward like a rathian. During all of iceborne, the topic of missing being invaded by bazel or seething came up a decent amount of time, between my friend group.
In Rise Bazel is just bad. Not only does he appear less imposing (tho that is more of a rise thing, with the camera perspective and lack of true invaders), thank to the structures bomb placement, the relative simple fight, because way easier. Seething on the other hand got a few new moves, all of them i quite liked, tho similar to bazel, felt more structured, with less and smaller explosion.
The Bombrun is one of the best example, where in wordborn they felt terrifying, as the droped so many bombs, in somewhat of a line, meanwhile in risebreak, i personally think that the wider area mixed with the clear placement of the scales (literally 3 lines), makes the bombrun quite easy to dodge, as there are way more gaps in between them.
tl:dr: world bazel felt like fighting a brute while dodging a minefield, meanwhile rise feels like fighting a simple monster with an arching follow up fire attack.

I love all the versions, though the base Rise bazel was disappointing. I still remember getting jumpscared by bazel in the high rank anjanath quest in world, I didn't notice anything and then I got divebombed and I just fainted, I almost jumped when that happened.

  • @stormerjc9493
    @stormerjc9493 Год назад +5

I feel so sarry for bazel, he's been getting overshadowed in the generation of his Introducing,
Base world is the best Bazelgeuse, his surprise bombing attack Invader role is great, but even then he lost out on having turf wars just to make deviljho look better
Then he gets a awesome variant in iceborne with seething but gets his role completely stripped from him in favour of making banbaro and fulger Invader when those 2 should have been hoarfrost exclusive, iceborne for me really had a Invader problem
And then both versions along with all Invaders in general get thier role completely butchered by rise/sunbreak
Let's hope Bazelgeuse gets the treatment he deserves in the series moving forward and gets his world like Invader role back as now I feel he has become one of the monsters we can and should rely on to become a regular returner for the series

The anecdote of people not liking Bazel is interesting. I think a lot of vocal World newcomers didn't like it, whereas veterans used to the concept appreciated it. That said, I also think it's undergone something of a renaissance after Rise's dogshit treatment of invaders and wyvern-riding.

    • @cchieffkiefbeff

just make it so bazel dies his bombing run when he enters again, his bombs drop in fixed locations and randomly too, so more chaos
also make seething an invader too, but make his bombing run even more dangerous by making him do barrel rolls, dropping more bombs, though not purple
(also make him less squishy so he cant just be chain knockdown, and turn purple like in iceborne where he charges it up instead)
as for wyvern riding, just make it so the timer is much shorter and if you stay still for too long, you get knocked off and the monsters reduce the timer even more when they hit you
oh and obviously, make it so monsters cant wyvern ride other monsters and increase the wirebug threshold needed to ride so it feels rewarding now

Happy to see my favorite monster in one of these videos! I loved this beautiful b52 since I saw it first in World.
Personally, I think World's Bazelgeuse is the best version of the monster they've made as of yet, with the invading divebomb and added chaos factor with the randomness of it's scales making it a fun, hectic, and imposing fight. I personally also prefer World's theme for bazel (more grand and all), though the added intensity with the vocals in rise give it a suprising fear factor (I've heard both themes mixed into one online, and mixing both works INSANELY well).

While I do prefer World Bazel (favourite newcomer), I really love SB version of Seething over the IB one, it's a lot more aggressive and hard to deal with, I feel like having both regular and the variant available at MR pushed the devs into a bigger effort in this game (and likely some adjustments made to deal with wirebugs helped). Sad that invaders no longer function in this game.
I once had an anomaly quest where I had to hunt both regular and seething (Idr which one was afflicted) and it was ... beautiful, explosions everywhere!

I am firmly in world bazel camp. Same for seething.
I just still dont get why rise bazels bombs have almost the same blast radius as a seething bomb. Because of the shorter fuse time and similar explosion size, rise bazel is kinda more dangerous to fight than rise seething. Which is dumb. Combined with nerfing unheated hitzones, tying the heat up to rage instead of it being independent of rage, no ambushes, his cool fuse igniting breath attack being changed to 'fireball, but wider', and one of the worst rise theme remixes, normal bazel has gone from being a fun bombastic surprise to an annoying and kinda boring.
Seething got better treatment in sunbreak, with his flying tail drag being great, but his head slam is hilariously easy to dodge and punish. Also its incredibly frustrating when an afflicted bazel or seething does a bombing run that makes you wait, wasting time that can lead to a burst that you probably could've stopped otherwise.
Rise bazel lost most of its soul. It gets its invader status made into a joke, and even churned into the copy paste magnamalo anime protagonist turf war heap. At least he got an actually good turf war with Rajang when sunbreak came out.
    How the mighty have fallen.

Honestly, I used to hate World Bazel too, but I was very new to the series. The random bombs are a pain yeah but as I reflect on it I feel like it was part of the charm. When I first fought Seething I was somewhat nervous and dreading it, but then I realized I was actually having a really good time fighting him, and then THE BIG BLAST happened and once I heard that iconic scream, I knew I had a favorite monster. I enjoy rise Bazel but Sunbreak Seething is still my preferred fight over him, especially when afflicted. Getting the damage pops is OH SO SATISFYING but makes him a little too easy, and affliction fixes that problem completely. Afflicted seething might be my favorite Bazel hands down at the moment.
When MH6 rolls around I hope Bazel once again shows up unannounced, because there's nothing more fun than an invited Party Crasher.

As my favorite monster is bazel, I have a bit of a mixed opinion of how he has been handled since his introduction. On one hand some of the changes I think were needed such as the scales falling in fixed positions, on the other hand him not divebombing into the middle of fights is just down right criminal. I would have to say my favorite version is his original world version, just due to the whole invading factor as much as I prefer seething in every other regard. Also I really don't like rise's bazel theme, it feels less punchy than the world version. I also don't like most of rise's themes just because of the overuse of vocals as vocals in monster themes are usually reserved for final bosses/black dragons, feels wrong to hear vocals for most monsters.

Yeah, Bazel getting heavily shafted in his role as an invader will always be disappointing to me. Rise could've easily maintained it had he kept the randomly dropped bombs alongside the ones he drops more "neatly" with his attacks and, of course, his iconic tenancy of barging into your hunts with a bang. Alas, twas not meant to be I suppose.

The most annoying thing of the originl Bazel in world is that it always plants the landmine which can hardly be seen because of its size and meshing with the enviorment untill you accidently hit it and deal a great damage to yourself. Thats why they change the way in its variant Seething Bazel which bomb blews up automatically and it turns out to be a better gameplay experience. It's glad that they did notice the mistake and avoid it when introducing Bazel into MHRise where the bomb will no longer be planted for a long period to be exploded, it will blow up just after a few seconds making it more predictable.

I do legitimately have a soft spot for Bazel so I was also disappointed by Iceborne's stark lack of Bazel party crashing in G-rank. Even with the new Variant, which was built to be an even worse threat, it was really weird that the invader slots were dominated by Rajang so hard. I actually found myself really MISSING Bazel in Iceborne and, at the time, it was so hard for me to wrap my head around because he really WAS annoying in World. I do think the devs took the criticism of him to heart and ended up toning him down too much. Sunbreak Seething, though, I think is peak Bazel. He is SO exciting and hype to fight because of his ramped up speed and aggression.

I have a lot of gripes about how Monsters didn't feel nearly as thoughtfully placed as they did in base World and those two are the main offenders. Why not throw in a breakdown of the monster armor sets and what they appear to be made for? In Bazel’s case, it seems the set is designed to make Charge Blades more potent, if you don’t mix and match the set with other things. Wanting to try Charge Blade and having a good set of armor for that made me look forward to Bazel fights and I honestly love having him turn up; I’ll let my quest target run off while I focus Bazel down if he turns up in a fight.

I massively prefer Seething in Iceborne, and by extension Bazel in rise/sunbreak. I don't think novelty particularly works in a game like monster hunter where you do the same thing over and over again, so invaders have never been more than a 20 second dung bomb distraction/annoyance since the exact same surprise doesn't work more than once, especially against the hundereds of hours these games are typically played for.
I also find it weird how vocal people seem to be against Rise's bazel theme, I think its about as good as it was in world, and in general I'm someone who doesn't think the vocals are particularly well implemented in rise's remixed songs.
