Feeling huge compassion for the person suffering the awful loneliness having lost the three people they had in their life. Their inner response to that must be deeply, deeply painful and I can only feel that they were needing to express the hugeness of this on here where it is safe to do so. I'm glad the person is in this community so we can all hold her and each other in what we are going through in our own world that is hard to cope with 💖

I felt this, too. My significant other for over 10 years was on the road all week and only home on weekends, so in spending as much time with him as I could, I let other friendships and activities. Now that we are apart, I am extremely lonely, although I'm not often actually physically. Other than my children, he was the only person who let me know I was important to him. So I can understand how she feels. Besides loneliness, losing so many close people during such a short time is a trauma, and she may need help in recovering from that. Wendy's answer was sweet and helpful, as was the video about loneliness.

Regarding the comment from Anne about comparative loneliness.. I’d like to put forth the paper plate analogy. We’re each given a plate which represents our capacity for load bearing. Each persons plate is made from something different depending on various factors. Each person goes through life gathering bricks which represent trauma. The person with a steel plate can take quite a few bricks before their plate buckles under the load. The person with the paper plate possibly can’t even take a single brick. We can’t see what people’s plates are made from. So we shouldn’t judge anyones suffering by the size or number of bricks we perceive them to be carrying.

The “competitive” nature of pain and suffering, along with fear of judgment, are the primary reasons why I do not share my thoughts/feelings/experiences with others, whether in person or online ☹️. This avoidance unfortunately results in loneliness and disconnection. Thank you for your kind responses in this q&a and for letting us know we aren’t alone❤

I teach art therapy to cancer patients and have my own autoimmune disease that has challenged me my entire life, as well I am in menopause, I have had to learn NOT to minimize my own health issues thinking I have no right to complain since I don’t have cancer. It’s easy to diminish our own suffering if we compare…bravo for pointing out that it’s not a competition.

You were very kind in your responses to the more challenging questions. I agree with you completely, loneliness and chronic illnesses are not competitive. You can stand in a crowd and feel lonely. I’m lonely, due to chronic illness and an inability to leave the house. I do have a husband, but as we are youngish he has a social and sport life outside our marriage (quite rightly as he is my career). I have just lost my mummy and she was my best friend. Loneliness is subjective to each person who feels it. Someone can experience loneliness in a room full of friends and family they care about, whereas another person can spend weeks at time by themselves and never experience that feeling. It's unfair to take your feelings and measure them against someone else's experiences. Missing James because you love him, enjoy his company, and want to have him near you is a wonderful thing because it shows that you have true companionship and love in your life. I feel that when my husband is away and it reminds me that I am lucky.

Maybe if you look at your diet and/or get a blood test to check your full vitamin and mineral levels you may find out there's something that you can do to improve your energy levels/health.
If I hadn't of asked my GP for the tests I would probably still have chronic fatigue and very poor health. Wishing 🌠you a healthy✨️ happy 🙂abundant🪄 2023🎉

You are so kind and thoughtful in your responses and I totally agree it's not a competition. We all feel what we feel for a reason and that is ok. Resenting anyone else who we perceive to be in a better place than us is never going to help us feel better. Ann is clearly suffering deep and painful loneliness and is struggling to find any joy. She's hurting and projecting out her anger and/or resentment. Hopefully she can find some peace and connection. I am so pleased to have found you this past week Wendy...you are my study fairy!! I am in the final stages of my PhD, submission end Jan and resisting the jar of nutella has been hard! (failed a few times!!)....but, you're journalling has inspired me and I'm now loving creating mine, particularly during the 'witching hour' (typically between 3-4 in the afternoon), it's so helpful and you are so authentic - thank you!!

I have a lot of issues and worries and no friends but when I feel down I try to practice gratitude. It’s all you can do and try to find joy wherever you can. Creativity is the answer to so many problem. Get out of your head and into your hands (quote borrowed from Kate at the last homely house channel). Wishing you a happy new year! Xxx

I also have a habit of practicing gratitude. However, recently I have learned that past trauma, if we fail to deal with it, may raise its ugly head when we don't expect it, which can cause problems in the future. I had never even thought of some of the things that have happened to me as "trauma" until I recently read "The Body Keeps The Score." Now I realize that, in not sharing about those things with someone else and dealing with them, I have left myself emotionally vulnerable to them. May you be truly blessed!

Thank you for this video and I especially liked your video on being alone. Loneliness and alone are two very different things. That being said...it is an unkindness that others marginalized your personal past and pain by comparison. It's not something that should ever happen. The world is both a beautiful and dangerous place. We all carry scars and stories of loss. It is how we choose to carry this that matters. You clearly think deeply, feel vastly, and have come through it beautifully. I wish the same for those who are hurting! You handled everything with love and kindness. I deeply appreciate this aspect of your personality and it was the main reason I subscribed. I never see you look down on anyone. I see you be patient, kind, and engaged with others. This is your deepest "art"....the art you make reflects your inner self, and these principles put into the framework of visual art. I , also, know it's possible to be a chatterbox artist and be reclusive at the same time. I'm the same. People think artists are 'tortured and wistful' 24-7...too many film stereotypes. I applaud your gentleness, and kindness. How many tears in the past doesn't matter....all that matters is you are smiling in this moment...and you aren't unaware of anything!!! That is "art" , as well! May all who are suffering and lonely take comfort and know that they too will rise out of pain one day soon!!! ❤️ 🌟🌟🌟❤️

Hello Wendy, Happy new year!!! Today I want to tell you something about loneliness. My elderly sister is poorly for quiet a long time.
( about 10 years now). She is living alone in Amsterdam and I am the only relative she sees on a regular basis. She has no friends and hardly leaves the house. I tried to move her or find her some help. But she don’t want any.I worried a lot about her being on her own and fragile. She never contacts me.
I am always scared that one bad day she get sick or an accident and not able to find any help.
I told her of course, but she told me not to worry so much.
I always feel sorry for her, but one day she told me that she likes to be alone!
She got accustom to this situation.I think that I project my feelings of loneliness on her! So you never can tell what loneliness really is for someone else. It is so personal. You never can compare your situation with another person.
I am always looking forward to a new video!! Thank you for everything 😘❤️🌹👍

One comment that hit me about pricing, you said that artists need to consider the time it took to get to where we are as well as the time in creating a piece, this is so true a lot of times people don't take that into consideration, a piece of art reflects years of study and practice. Thanks for reminding me of that. I'm in my 70s and have been an artist all my life and wouldn't want to be anything else 😊

For hair washing, I use warm water with baking soda well stirred in -- it foams when I massage into my scalp and rinses easily; then I use apple cider vinegar as a conditioner which adds shine. Some recipes call for making a baking soda paste, working it into the scalp and through the hair with warm water, but I find it just as easy to use a thinner solution; apparently the bs/H2O solution is very gentle on the scalp without disturbing the PH balance. Cheers 🌻 and happy new year !

Big big compassion and love all around, and hoping Ann finds peace wherever possible. 💖 Your kindness and care is much appreciated.
Just one other thing I'd like to note - in general, I guess. COVID has unfortunately created extremely polarizing experiences - and where everyone's been so isolated (some more than others), their experiences, the good and the bad, were all amplified to the extreeemes.
And the isolation prevented people from often having the "community" support they needed to really process things like grief and loss.
And that polarizing of experiences sometimes makes people feel even *more* isolated, etc...
I guess what I'm trying to say is that people's loneliness and pain is quite often more common than we'd like, and less managed than we'd need. This can make Humaning In General much harder than it used to be!
..So I suppose friendly reminder to all that being human is incredibly messy and chaotic, especially right now. We're doing our best. And that counts for something!! ❤️ and all we can do

I enjoyed the question and answer session. I feel bad for the woman who had so many losses in such a short span of time but we can't compare ourselves to others. My analogy would be say there are two woman who have each lost children. One has lost 4 in a tragic car accident and the other only one based on a health issue. The one who lost four can't say to the woman who lost one, "Look at me you've only lost one." Life doesn't work that way because the mother who lost only one still has the right to grieve. It's the same thing with loneliness. A person can still feel lonely even when they are surrounded by friends. Loneliness is loneliness and we can't tell others how they should feel.

Here's what I do: wash the hair with bicarbonate of soda, 2 tablespoon in a cup of water. I wash the scalp and leave the rest alone. Rinse with Apple Cider vinegar, 1-2 tablespoons in a cup of water. Pour over hair. And rinse. Best conditioner ever. These things cost nothing and leave hair soft and clean. Will never go back to normal chemicals. ♥️

Dear Wendy. Thank you for this open and compassionate video.
I would like to comment on the hair theme and the washing of it, in order to be of help:
I would highly recommend the washing of human hair every day (preferably) Here is the reason why:
Our hair is exposed to many outside influences every day, such as oils from cooking, fumes and substances from our workplaces (depending on where you work), trafic pollution (especially diesel, which is sticking to other surfaces and highly cancer causing). All these things accumulate on and in your hair every day! Doctors and holistic practitioners have therefore recommended the washing of hair, before one goes to bed especially, every day or as frequent as possible. Especially people who are allergic should do this. Just imagine taking all those toxins with you to bed, rubbing it over your pillow and sheets. And hair is allways close to your face. I can imagine these accumulated toxins can cause sleep disorders as well as mood swings and other slow processing illnesses. We are exposed to so many chemicals as is, at least we can reduce them in washing our hair and exposed skin every day.
If this is too time consuming, because long hair does take time to wash and dry, I recommend to do what our ancestors did long ago:
To wear a night cap! 🙂You can make them even yourself. Sew yourself a bonnet (looking like a flower fairy for sure 🙂), or even just a wear a scarf, wrapped around your head. That will do the trick as well.
You can then wash the cap or scarf frequently and thus illiminate a load of toxins from entering your body through breathing them in.
    On shampoo:
There are thousands of good natural products out there on the market. For example: Nature Sustained Bio-Shampoo - by Nature Sustained Store (Amazon).
Or you can make your own shampoo. There are many recipes out there. You could even just wash with water and do a rinse with apple cider vinegar. Makes the silver hair shining and bright. 🙂
Huggs and love from Schurwald Forest, Germany

A poem for you by Liza Fox in New Zealand: DO YOU BELIEVE?
    "Do you believe in faeries?
    Do you believe they're real?"
My little girl placed her hand in mine,
    Looking up through lashes fine,
Her eyes like pools of sweeten wine,
    Her concern I could feel.
"Do YOU believe?" I asked her
As her tears I tried to stem.
"Yes," she said, "but my friends say
That my belief will go away,
And very soon will come the day
    I'll not believe, like them."
    "Well, I believe in faeries.
    I see them all around.
I see them in the garden flowers,
    Treetops, mountains, Summer showers,
    Winter, Autumn and Spring bowers,
    Sky and sea and ground.
    For faeries can be everywhere,
They're in our soul and mind.
The world has wonderous things to share,
If only we would see them there,
And hold them in our hearts and dare
    Their beauty for to find."

I really enjoy that besides your accent, the nature and artwork seen in the videos and of course - that you are also a veggie! Greetings from Germany!

You answered the quirky question so well! I don't know if I would have been able to be so kind, it is definitely not a competition. Can relate to always needing to have tissues and lipbalm on me!

This is the second or third video I am watching of yours. I'm new to the channel and can't believe I've never discovered it before. I'm a 57 year old lonely woman who lived for art all her life, until I even stopped doing that many years ago. I feel lost in an abyss (due to exhaustion from ill health and paralyzing fear) and I'm determined to find my way back out. Joe Dispenza meditations and Wim Hoff are inspiring me at the moment re health. But oh, I feel I have suddenly landed back in an environment that is lighting the very shadows of my memory, of the real me here. Even though it's only the third vid I relate to practically everything you say and what the community bring as well. It seems I'm not the only lonely and lost artist. I feel I will commune here with like minds and I feel encouraged and so so grateful to have found you. I may (will!) even find excitement for what the future holds instead of fear and despair. It is a long road but I want to accelerate my journey down the right one. Thank you for being here!!! RUclips channels, online communities can be so very much to someone like me. Much love to you and to us all. 💙🙏🦋

    Lonely does not equal alone.
Often I have been in a room with 65 people that I know each one at least to some degree and have been fully lonely.
