That was such a sweet moment to capture of you nursing your baby and your toddler snuggling you! I had 3 kids in 2.5 years and I feel like that was my constant for so long! I wish I had more footage of it, it's such a sweet time
In Australia it's quite common to eat them with honey. A treat-variation I came up with is crumpet, honey, scoop of vanilla icecream and dust it with cinnamon. It's amazing. I do a vegan version now and it's just as delicious.
I absolutely love the faint background noise, there is nothing more inspiring to me than the sound of a full, imperfect house. It helps me to appreciate the joyous sound of my own children filling up our walls with life and laughter ❤️
Thank you for sharing the sweet moment of sitting on the floor and nursing and playing with your kids. Mine are all preteens and teens and that moment brought me straight back to their younger days 🥹❤️
I work outside of the home. And since I recently came across your videos, I’ve developed a new appreciation of what a homemaker is and what means and looks like. Your videos and your calmness are inspiring., it has shown me very practical things I can do in my home and with my children and how I can be a good steward of my home
I love watching your videos. We raised and homeschooled our 3 boys. Our boys grew up. It's comforting seeing you working in your home. I always enjoyed our home. I still do, but I do miss the boys. It's so nice watching you and remembering. Beautiful memories for me. Thank you.❤❤
Crumpets are a favourite afternoon treat here in England where we toast them and have them with butter. The holes allow the hot melted butter to soak in and they are perfect for a cold winter afternoon with a pot of tea.
You reminded me of myself many years ago. I was just like that. Got tired of seeing the furniture in the same place. I’d change everything around. Took down pictures, put up different ones. I found when I did this I could do a good cleaning too. Now at 73 n it just being myself n the dog it’s just become my last thing to do on my list. I wish I still had that incentive to do again. As I said to you many times… you’re living my dream. Can’t thank you enough at how much I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you Lisa. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟
My, God has richly blessed you with such beautiful, loving children. You have such a lovely tidy home, such a credit to you with all you have to do in a day. I so enjoy watching your videos. Much love from Scotland
Lisa, you are amazing, and we love you. I would love to just give you a big hug. Yor YT channel has made me become more motivated and energized, therefore making my life better. I have used several of your discount links and have enjoyed new products. You were made to do what you are doing, God bless you and you whole family❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I really like your videos. I live in the suburbs but thanks to you I’m starting sourdough. I was born in Mexico Missouri and lived in Joplin for about 10 years growing up. I was just in Missouri in March. My oldest Grandson graduated from basic training. I like that you show us real life. Thanks
Your children are so blessed by you and your husband. Being together during the cold winter days; baking, cooking, refreshing your space. Here in the middle of Nebraska we have been freezing as well but fortunately will be having what we consider a "heat wave" in the next week with temperatures in the 50's!! Love that your children still get dressed up warm and get outside for fresh crisp cold air!! Thank you for sharing your family!! God bless each of you!
BEAUTIFUL DAYS IN THE FARM HOUSE BEAUTIFUL WHOLENESS FOOD IN THE WINTER GD DAYS BEING AT HOME WILL ALLWAYES REMEMBER THE GD DAYS NOW AND FOREVERKEEP SAKE THEM IN YOUR HEART AND SOUL MAMN
When I have "extra" carrots... I throw them in the freezer, bag and all. I think they've been washed before packaged. When I'm ready, I don't defrost. I wash them when they're frozen hard. Because I freeze them fresh, the skins are tender so I leave the skins on. Cut to size and use them for soups or pot roast or crockpot chicken. Freezing makes the raw, whole carrots soft, so I wouldn't think they'd be good for grating after freezing. If you want grated carrots for cakes or quick breads, I'd grate then freeze. 💖🌞🌵😷
Good morning! 😊 I made rolls last night, which allowed me to make egg/bacon sandwiches for packing to go bags for the family heading to work. The loaf I made last night will be sliced, spreading (summer made)pesto on top then shredded cheese to bake for a side with dinner. Dessert was baked last night - lemon blueberry pound cake (blueberries frozen from summer harvest). We’re in a 4 day straight warm front with rain so no one wants winter soup, opting for several small meals so I am cleaning out some summer garden vegetables from the freezer. I love eating without having to go to the grocery store! ❤
One thing I do when my area rug gets tattered is rotate it. Luckily last time it happened, the tattered bit got rotated under the couch and the presitine bit that was under the couch came out of hiding to be in it's glory! 💖🌞🌵😷
I live in Canada, -10 C is a warm day here. A few weeks ago we reached -40 C with a -50 C wind chill. That was horrible, even for here. Now we have spring weather and it is melting, and +10 C outside. I would love to have your winters, ours are so harsh here.
There is such a peaceful beauty to your videos. I really am drawn to your RUclips channel verses others that try to pull you into subscription groups, pay to get recipes or cook with me experiences…. Please don’t change.
This was so special watching you nurse while the other babies played and crawled on you. One thing that I noticed, while you were chopping veggies, your cutting board kept moving. If you put a folded towel underneath the board will not move. It is dangerous for the board to move while cutting. Just want you to be safe.
I started watching your channel at the beginning of this year, and it has been SUCH an encouragement in my life! Being in my 50’s with married children, adult children, teenage children and grandchildren, I do not want to loose my love of homemaking and homeschooling after all these years doing both. The love you show in your own life for these things is inspiring! Your style of videos are easy to listen to and watch - and I have enjoyed every one I have watched so far. I am working my way through your playlists ☺️ I just started sourdough last year (ours is GF because of celiac disease) and I have learned so much about it from you. Thank you for allowing us these peeks into your home! You are a blessing!! ❤️❤️
I grew up in the age when it was cool to shun motherhood etc. Fast forward, thankfully I have two sons in their 20s whom I love dearly. I wish i had had more children but left it too late as I didn't appreciate motherhood and home life . Having children and raising them is the absolutely best thing xxx
I call it 'shopping your home' - I take a lot of upstairs items and bring them down, and vice versa. Makes a whole new look, fresh and fun. Thanks for another beautiful episode.
I love your videos and especially your beautiful bread! If you put a dry tea towel/wash rag under your wooden cutting board it will keep it from slipping when chopping. I use that trick often and works great. God bless!!❄️☃️💙
Listening at 10.03 A.M. January 26, 2024! I was wondering, since I am fairly new to your channel, if you could show more of how you use your coffee, latte, espresso, cappuccino machine! I LOVE yours , but don’t know if I would be intimidated by it! I’m still learning my way around my Nespresso and espresso in general!
Love your channel so much. We are a family of 8 who just moved to our own little homestead. I have been dabbling with more and more of your methods. Made sour dough tortillas this week. They were a huge success with the kids. Have been making more soup for lunches too 😊
As I am watching this, I am baking sourdough chocolate cookies, courtesy of your recipe! You turned me on to sourdough about 2 years ago and I now am confident incorporating anything sourdough as part of my weekly baking day- my husband loves both the pancake, crumpet and English muffin recipes (he will whip these up without looking at the recipe now as he is the Sunday breakfast king in our home). I usually refresh our home by rearranging furniture or moving a rug from one room to another (all my rugs have pretty much the same colors I use throughout my home except for size and design), change wall pictures around, some table/shelf decor may be moved around just to change things up and give a fresher look every season. I don’t keep fresh flowers as I am allergic to most so plants are my thing and just moving a plant or two can make a difference (our bedrooms have mostly indirect sunlight ones). I am also making Artichoke-Sausage-Spinach soup today and will freeze more than half of it in serving size glass jars (8 oz ball jars with plastic lids that I fill about 3/4 full and freeze). Though we are now empty nesters, between our children and grandchildren dropping by a few times a week, I still cook for more than the 2 of us because we either have unexpected dinner guest or we just freeze it for a quick meal in our full time jobs outside the home life!
More wonderful winter inspiration, as usual you are amazing with all you juggle. I turned my younger home school mom friend with two young daughters and they love following you too!✝️🙏🕊💕🙌🏻
Hi from Australia, I am a big soup fan. Minestrone, pea and ham, potato, leak and bacon and my husbands favourite chunky chicken, vegetables and butter beans or noodles. My mother was from Germany she taught me to cook, her soups were amazing. I love your content, great to zone out and relax my mind. Thank you
Love seeing the kids with you while nursing!! I’m on my day 4 of my sourdough starter and it looks amazing !!! I’m so excited!! Thank you Lisa for all that you do for me !!!
Being from Minnesota and loving the winter, I've been grieving it the last month or so! We have no snow and the weather has been unseasonably warm (it will get down to -20* every January for periods of time and this year it's gotten to -10* for a few days but mostly been in the 40s and 50s!). We love being outside and you can tell the snow lovers here don't really know what to do since it's such a bizarre year! People here love to ski, snowshoe, ice fish, snowmobile , cold plunge, sauna... But it's been a real weird year for that (like you can't snowshoe or ski on grass, and the ice isn't as thick as normal so it's not as safe to walk on). It feels like May here and I honestly feel like we skipped a large part of our year where we were meant to be inside with candles, slippers, hot cacao and garden planning, when we can go run outside barefoot right now. Hah I'm not complaining, I just think it's really interesting how different our winters have been a few states away. It's interesting since I've gotten used to and appreciated the normal ebb and flow of the seasons, so it's throwing me off this year. Last year we had record snowfall though so you just never do know. ❤️ Thanks for sharing your recipes and life as always! Going to try the crumpets tomorrow!
You inspire me so much! I recently saw this great hack of using a shower cap on top of the things you’re proofing. I saw your bag trick and thought you may like that hack. Love your videos 💖
Lovely video as usual.💛 Couple questions for you that could maybe be podcasts? You mentioned you usually all spend much of the day outside… What are you usually doing while your kids are playing outside? Are you playing with them? Doing chores? Sittings and watching? I love sunshine and nature but I put so much energy into kitchen stuff, homeschooling and home decorating etc inside that I find it hard with some much inside work to tell myself to go outside and when I’m out there, especially in winter, I feel like I don’t have anything to do… I would like to stay outside and have my children play much more and for longer out there… and we live in Ca. Our winters are usually 50’s and 60’s so we have no excuse! I know you’ve discussed outside time before but would love more practical tips or ideas here… Also would love a discussion on how you encourage and enable your children’s interests/hobbies. I know you have mentioned you buy whatever materials needed and give them time. But I think there may be some steps I’m missing to get them to the point of being intentional and focused with their time to work on these things… would love any practical suggestions/tips on this.
You might enjoy looking through my podcasts that I have already done as I have discussed some of this over there....The Simple Farmhouse Life podcast on apple and Spotify
I'm in Wales, UK. We like to eat crumpets with cheese toasted on top. When the cheese melts it fills the holes in the crumpets, delicious! Also enjoy them with butter and strawberry jam .
I made your bagels and they were such a hit my teenager insisted on taking a bagel egg sandwich to school for lunch. My daughters and I are reading the Long winter this month. It’s been so enjoyable and has inspired us to embrace the season as do your videos. I just can’t tell you enough how your channel has blessed my life.
I made cheesy sausage potato soup last night for dinner because it was a cold, rainy, dreary day here in Utah. I also made a loaf of molasses brown bread which I had never tried before. It actually turned out well much to my surprise 😅
Crumpets toasted and slathered in butter are the best, but also eat them with jam, vegimite, eggs on top, cheese grilled on top. Pretty much anything youd have on toast can go on a crumpet. 😊
Newer subscriber here. I just wanted to say how happy I am to have found your channel! Your home is beautiful, your videos are so relaxing and enjoyable to watch. Even your voice is soothing! Thank you for another great video ❤ Starting my first homemade bread because of you!
Just from a bread baker, with your starter, water temp can make a huge difference. Like in summer we use ice cold water, because of temp it’ll still do it’s thing but it’s less likely to over ferment or over prove, in winter we use warmer water, you just can’t use boiling to keep higher temp so it doesn’t go into a state called retardation. This goes for the doughs itself as well and applies to all bread 🙂
This is my first time commenting on one of your videos, but I have to tell you how much I love your channel!! I am 31 and have three kids that we homeschool as well here in Canada, and I was really starting to dread homemaking. But you make it so beautiful, and it makes me want to strive to love it as well!
I tried doing sauerkraut with caraway seeds, salt and whey and it changed my life 😂 I will never go back to just using salt. The why jump starts the fermentation process and you use less salt. I got the recipe from nourishing traditions. I can’t wait to ferment more things this season because I’m hooked! I prefer small batches as well.
Hi Lisa, I just finished watching your latest video, "Slow Winter Days at Home," and have to say, Bravo! As a mom also to eight children, I'm always so amazed that you are able to put out RUclips content in such a creative and inspiring way. Also, I would love to hear how you are finding life with older children, while also still having a baby at the breast. (loved seeing you nurse near the fire with little ones all over the place) This was always the part of mothering I have found the most challenging...because babies need us physically, while our older ones need us emotionally. I'd love to hear how you are finding that experience, if you don't feel it too intrusive. To end my comments, I just wanted to thank you for inspiring so many in the art of homemaking and mothering. What's that saying, "Anything in life worth having, is not going to be easy, but it will be worth whatever it takes." All the Best! Be well! Stay Warm!
As I’m watching I’m due with my first baby, she is arriving in a few weeks! I’ve always wanted a big family and be a SAHM but God has other plans ❤ Nonetheless I am truly blessed to be a wife and soon to be mother.
You are the best my love now I just found Andrea’s channel she looks like a combo of you and Laura….. ILOVE all three channels. ILOVE winter quiet days. As I’ve gotten older I appreciate it more…… the kids and hubby are so lucky to have you Lisa❤❤❤🙋🏻♀️
Ahhhhh, got my fix of Farmhouse on the Boone! Now I feel happy, and at peace. Gotta tell ya, just loved that toddler trying to help move that couch. He wants to be one of the pack with the boys! I love it, kids are great! I could sit and watch your family all day. The food looks delicious, especially that nutty bread. 😋 yum Thanks again for providing such quality and inspiring content, as well as sharing glimpses of those precious kiddos! You’re the bomb Lisa!
Crumpets are eaten with clotted cream and jam/marmalade. My grandmother who was from England use to buy them from Canada because she had moved to the US. We would eat them with butter and jam. I now make them with sourdough starter. She would be impressed.
I grew up in Missouri and loved the winters and all the fun we had. 40 years ago I moved to Michigan even alot colder winters and I just love to bake and cook on these cold snow or rain even ice storms. I just made my first sour dough starter and it is ready now to use so I am in search of a really good sour dough bread recipe and tomorrow I am going to try your sour dough pancakes.
I hear you on the cold days. I live in Erie Pa. The lake effect can be brutal with the below freezing temps and high winds...brrrr. I try to have my kids go out for even just 10 minutes a day of possible. But we definitely spend way more time in the house!
5 of your boys in one scene! 3 of them born in 'this' house.! Have you taken a recent family portrait? I do love the portrait wall. Oooooh, your beautiful bread!😊
We are not -10 but are still staying mostly inside. Today we are having rain. It feels cold enough to snow but nope, it's rain! I am going through my seeds getting ready to start some and dreaming of spring. Also doing some baking.. The oven keeps the kitchen nice and warm.
We usually have real cold weather here in Canada, more precisely close the Ottawa the national capital region but this winter the weather is quite milder, while in the USA it's colder, this is weird. 14 F to -4 F for us is a very normal (-10 to -20 C), lots of activities outside, and in of course. No matter the weather lets all be happy, enjoy life, and eat good home made food!
Depends where you are I guess! We have no snow in MN! It's unheard of. It's been in the 40s& 50s so the kids have been out barefoot and in shorts. So bizarre! (I miss the winter weather actually! It feels like we skipped a huge season that I enjoy!)
We are a crumpets everyday family (UK) we have ours with butter, marmite, honey, jam, have them with soup and melt cheese on them. I use them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are so versatile and I can’t imagine what I’d replace them with!
I just made chicken and rice soup using your recipe and we all LOVED it! My boys gobbled it up. My husband said it's definitely a "make it again" type of meal. I love making soup and bread in the winter. I love that it can feed so many or become multiple lunches that I don't need to cook again.
In the U.K. crumpets are traditionally served just with plenty of salted butter melted in. But lots of people also choose to add things like jam, cheddar cheese, honey, Nutella etc.
That was such a sweet moment to capture of you nursing your baby and your toddler snuggling you! I had 3 kids in 2.5 years and I feel like that was my constant for so long! I wish I had more footage of it, it's such a sweet time
The memories are imprinted on your heart!
I miss those days so much...

@@sarahedgar8812that sounds amazing! 😍
@sarahedgar8812 we always have golden syrup on crumpets, and butter of course.

This California girl thinks that afternoon tea and crumpets sound utterly delightful!

The crumpets remind of tiny Dutch babies! 😊
It will be 77F here today, and I do not miss the cold, at all. However I truly enjoy these sweet and cozy moments at home with your lovely family.

I use a slightly damp towel underneath when kneading bread lol life-changing!!
Love seeing your sweet family and your beautiful home. Everything you cook always looks so delicious. God bless y’all! 😀❤️
Ahh Fridays, prayer meeting in the morning then Lisa, Laura in the afternoon 😊

It warms my heart to see you and your children and the way you’ve embraced this lifestyle. I wish many more would live this way.
I've never seen somebody cook so beautifully as you do in the whole YT and I have seen countless cooking videos. In fact, it is what I watch most.
Thank you so much
She cooks with love and care♥️
That seeded bread looks SO GOOD!!
Ohh, I agree
I seen a lady making bread and she placed a doily on top before cooking and it made a lovely design
Just wanted to say I know you've had lots of comments about your voice in the past. Personally, your voice us very calming to me.

Hiiii, can you some day do a special video on all the animals palls you guys have? I would love to get to know them too. ♥
Thank you for the vulnerability to share that little bit with you nursing! So sweet and beautiful 🥰
When we were kids, in North of England, it was crumpets with grilled cheese on top

You are real and lovely. Thank you for sharing You with us❤

Yes it sounds like weather has been odd all over the country. Thanks for following along!
You inspire me so much! I recently saw this great hack of using a shower cap on top of the things you’re proofing. I saw your bag trick and thought you may like that hack. Love your videos 💖
Crumpets, butter and jam in our English home is how we have them. All looks very cosy…😊
Crumpets hot with butter melting through it & honey. Nothing better.
Australian here, I loved eating crumpets well toasted with butter and golden syrup, sometimes with butter and vegemite. Yum!
Love all the dishes you cook up! I can imagine the wonderful aromas!
Lovely video as usual.💛
Couple questions for you that could maybe be podcasts?
You mentioned you usually all spend much of the day outside…
What are you usually doing while your kids are playing outside? Are you playing with them? Doing chores? Sittings and watching? I love sunshine and nature but I put so much energy into kitchen stuff, homeschooling and home decorating etc inside that I find it hard with some much inside work to tell myself to go outside and when I’m out there, especially in winter, I feel like I don’t have anything to do… I would like to stay outside and have my children play much more and for longer out there… and we live in Ca. Our winters are usually 50’s and 60’s so we have no excuse! I know you’ve discussed outside time before but would love more practical tips or ideas here…
Also would love a discussion on how you encourage and enable your children’s interests/hobbies.
Man that book is the hardest one for me! I don’t think I’d have the courage to read it in the winter 😰
@@Melshed it’s so worth reading. Makes us so much more grateful for what we have.
I made cheesy sausage potato soup last night for dinner because it was a cold, rainy, dreary day here in Utah. I also made a loaf of molasses brown bread which I had never tried before. It actually turned out well much to my surprise 😅
Love the seed bread
Crumpets toasted and slathered in butter are the best, but also eat them with jam, vegimite, eggs on top, cheese grilled on top. Pretty much anything youd have on toast can go on a crumpet. 😊
Yep, as a West Australian, crumpets with butter and Vegemite is a staple. Sometimes butter and honey. Simple and quick meal.
Ah love the Aussie vegemite answer! I grew up with this too or butter and honey.
Newer subscriber here. I just wanted to say how happy I am to have found your channel! Your home is beautiful, your videos are so relaxing and enjoyable to watch. Even your voice is soothing! Thank you for another great video ❤ Starting my first homemade bread because of you!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!!
Congratulations!
Enjoy motherhood when it arrives. It is truly a wonderful experience
I admire your sourdough breads.
😋 yum
Thanks again for providing such quality and inspiring content, as well as sharing glimpses of those precious kiddos! You’re the bomb Lisa!
Thank you so much! Yes, he wants to be a big boy!
As a Brit we enjoy crumpets toasted and spread with melted butter and jam or honey.
I wish I had your talent for baking. I love watching you. New subscriber ❤😊
Thank you so much 🤗
In New Zealand, we ate them with golden syrup and butter as kids.
I love your videos. They are so cozy & calming. They are like a warm hug on a cold day.
Thank you so much!
I really enjoy your videos and how you use simple ingredients. Please keep making your videos.
Outstanding - thank you so much Lisa love all you do especially your cooking & baking !! ♥️
Patricia
Thanks so much
I just love your videos, I learn so much. I don’t know who you can do with all the young’s children you have. I wish you a good health!💕🙏
You and your family are truly blessed and are a blessing to others. ❤
We are not -10 but are still staying mostly inside. Today we are having rain. It feels cold enough to snow but nope, it's rain! I am going through my seeds getting ready to start some and dreaming of spring. Also doing some baking.. The oven keeps the kitchen nice and warm.
What a beautiful video.Thank you for sharing your home and family with us. I can smell the bread all the way from here. In South Australia!
Love Love Love your videos! Especially the lit candle while you cook crumpets for breakfast!
What a woman , wife , mom your just a pleasure to watch , that bread looks fabulous.
We are a crumpets everyday family (UK) we have ours with butter, marmite, honey, jam, have them with soup and melt cheese on them. I use them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are so versatile and I can’t imagine what I’d replace them with!
Thank you for being open to life, to having as many children as God wants to send you+
Such a lovely channel to watch! I’ve learned so much about sourdough from you. You have shown it to be way less complicated than I’ve seen before!
Thanks so much 😊
I just made chicken and rice soup using your recipe and we all LOVED it!
