    day four here. Im using your 365 series as support 🙏🏻
    I’ve listened to and watched ‘quit lit’ for a long time. I went five months in ‘22. What makes something hit differently for me with your videos is that you’re so real it’s OK / you normalize not feeling great. Also, you recognize and acknowledge there are reasons why we drink and needing to understand what those are individually to make this process successful.
    Idk something about your videos hit different and when I listen to you I feel like I can do this. Thank you.

    I’m honestly so proud of myself for being done with the trap-house. It’s actually been pretty easy with my mind set. 22 years of bars is totally enough, now on to more important things in my life. Thanks Nate.

    4 months in. What a blessing. I went to a friend's birthday dinner yesterday, so much drinking and drugs taking and didn't feel any cravings at all. A little anxiety thinking about how bad and hangover I would have felt the day after if I was in their shoes and that gave me internal goosebumps. Grateful for those last 4 months and keeping going 🙏

    Congrats Nate! I dream of being at 8 months. I half-assed it. Went a month, then tried to have a night, which turned into 2. Then quit again for a couple of weeks, then gave back in a few days. Did that again, and then gave back in two weeks ago. Not drinking heavy, but still drinking and kicking myself.

    Really appreciate this video. Keeping it real. I actually had 2 1/2 year of sobriety (and it was great) only to go down the path of drinking again about a year ago. Runs on both sides of my family and I do not do well with hurt having a drink every once in awhile.

    You are so inspiring, I'm on day 11 and EVERYTHING in my life is getting better. Grateful you made this channel. I remember being hungover a lot and watching your videos. These past 11 days I haven't even had a craving. I'm over the dumpster fire of alcohol! ♥️

    It's easy to go back is the only problem. I had 16 months sobriety and then 1 drink was all it took. It's something that you can't ever play with once you go sober. I found the 2nd time around just not even giving alcohol any focus helped me the most. Talking about it would trigger me to want to do it. Every person is different though on what works.

    You have blessed your family and I know you know that. Having come from alcohol causing a lot of drama, fear, shame growing up I’m fought my whole life w insecurity and low self esteem.

    I'm at ten months, no alcohol and still have alcohol in the home but have no desire to drink. I have even made friends that come over drinks. It's a mind thing anyone can quit if they are determined. The worst thing I had to deal with was loss of appetite and mad anxiety, but all that has gone away.

      At 10 months did the loss of appetite and anxiety completely go away? or was it gradual month to month? I am 6 months in and still on occasion can randomly get a roller coaster of emotions...

      @sodas32 Appetite gets much better month to month. I have an appetite now. Anxiety has almost completely gone away. After eight months, you should notice that. Just hang in there. Your stomach is in repair mode, so you will feel strange from time to time. Hang in there.

    Thanks 108 days here. Days 1-3 were a nightmare. Sleep for the first few weeks was a mess. I am so relaxed now. Feel great. Don't miss it. Don't want to go back. It skyrocketed my anxiety. I literally used to lay in bed awake for 8 hours with restless legs. Horrible drug. Wasted 20 years on it.

    Today is 7 months and 2 days of being alcohol-free, once in a while i watch these sobriety video as a support system. Also 7 months and 2 days of being marijuana-free as well. Life isnso much better since going sober on so many levels. Going to try for a full year and see whats next after that milestone.

    Have you seen any noticeable differences between where you were at 4 months compared to 8 months?

      Hell yes! Things are twice as easy and life is twice better! The biggest difference would be at 4 months I still felt like I was learning to break an old habit and start a new life. At 8 months it feels like I have a new, better life and that is the norm. Much fewer cravings and triggers now because I have less reasons to want / need to drink. It really seems like effort and time are the magic pill when it comes to quitting alcohol. It keeps getting better!

    Thanks for the content, it helps ....I am in my 6th month , sleep became much better at 4-5 months, my mood and emotions can still be up and down at times but I am expecting that to level out with the further i go. I heard it takes 14 months before dopamine levels return to nearly normal function....does this ring true for you now?

    I haven't brought it up, but I've been on cannabis during the whole 8 and ½ years of my sobriety from alcohol. The two substances aren't related IMHO. I don't seek out cannabis (I buy in bulk) and it doesn't make me a crazy, sloppy, mess. It's not a de-motivator for me, just the opposite in fact. The furthest I've ever biked, or walked, or worked, or worked out, have all been "high" on cannabis. It's also been a social lubricant, and a social thing, with activism, etc. We're a community. Do you think I lack self-awareness? Do you think I'm somehow cheating? I doubt it, you're probably pretty impressed. Look, I don't care what anyone thinks of my habits. I tend to use everything like it's a drug. Music, sex, aggression, love, food... I tend to do things for some kind of feeling it gives me. I've worked on plenty of those things, to varying degrees of success. Could I be sober from alcohol without cannabis? Sure, I suppose. But, would I be? I don't think I would. The litmus test, is does my use of cannabis, negatively affect me, or those around me, loved ones, or society in general? I'd say the answer is a definite, no. I vape too, OMG! I vape instead of smoking a pack a day of cigarettes. I also quit drinking coffee about 3 years ago. An ex-drunk who doesn't drink coffee? Yup. I quit the coffee because I was lugging pounds and pounds of sugar home for it. It was really all I drank, I'm sad to say. So, I ate a bunch of chocolate for a couple days, and quit coffee. Totally changed my sleep patterns. I get up before dawn most days now. I was never like that. I attribute it all to quitting coffee. I drink water now. I do drink energy drinks, zero sugar, lots of caffeine. With the taurine in them, I don't get the negative side effects of the caffeine. I don't drink them all the time, but I get them by the case when I get them. You're doing amazing, and you're doing a great thing for those lucky enough to find your channel. I just want to remind people that our paths don't have to look the same. Just do whatever works for you, and stay away from alcohol by any means necessary.

      I'm not here to judge. I'm just sharing my personal journey and my thoughts on it. For me, I wanted to fix the empty feeling I had inside without filling that void with some other drug or unhealthy vice. I was broken and still am to a large degree. I know I won't / can't accomplish what I personally set out to do by turning to another vice I can use as a crutch. We're all on our own journey, have different pasts and life ain't easy at times. For me this is as much a quitting alcohol journey as it is a spiritual one. After 8 months and for the first time in my life I am really starting to find out who I really am and feel comfortable in my own skin. What I'm doing is working for me and accomplishing what I set out to do. People are going to agree or disagree with many of the things I say on this channel. I'm fine with that. I'm fine with getting the wheels turning. I'm here to share my story.

      I smoked weed daily for about 15 years and I too convinced myself that it was having absolutely no negative effects on me, and like most stoners do I even convinced myself it was benefiting me in some way. It wasn't until I quit (4 years ago now) that I realised what an insane waste of money it is, the same as alcohol, and that it was in fact holding me back from achieving REAL happiness, the type of happiness that only comes from an extended period of complete sobriety from all substances. I'm not here judging you for smoking weed, but have you ever considered just trying a year of complete sobriety? I think you'd be surprised at what happens, and how much money save. Really what is the point in taking drugs constantly when sobriety is free and has such a better 'high' once your dopemine system has reset itself to a normal level. I honestly get a better high from simple every day things like going for a walk, reading a book, having a bath, even just getting bed at night to go to sleep gives me a better dopemine buzz than booze or weed ever did. The problem with constantly smoking weed is more subtle than what booze does and it's easy to think it's harmless, but over time it completely wrecks your dopemine/reward system in your brain, but its impossible to realise how much it wrecks it until you quit and go sober from everything

      @@HarryDuBois616 This is why I hadn't brought it up. You get lots of unsolicited advice. I don't suppose you actually have any data or evidence about this dopamine destruction cannabis causes. Sounds like 12 step dogma to me.

      I’m at day 240 of sobriety from both alcohol and cannabis. Did both for decades. My liver’s recovering from the alcohol and lungs from the smoke. I feel so much better substance free!
