On vacation right now, for my son’s birthday, and the best gift I’m giving him, is my presence. I’m here, I’m present, I’m not going to binge, I’m not going to forget our conversations. Just me.and that means the world to him. I’m doing it for him, for my daughters, my wife, and lastly, myself.
I created so much havoc and pain and suffering with alcohol that its almost like I've conditioned myself to expect the hammer to drop. Life isn't perfect being sober but seriously all those self inflicted booze wounds are gone. But I haven't gotten totally accustomed to it. I conditioned myself for misery being a drunk. But its another thing I'm adjusting to and it's a blessing. No longer my own worst enemy.
You talked often about creating a life where we don't want to drink. That is the work of being sober, and it's beautiful work. I've been six months sober, even though I had a beer weeks ago, because in my heart I am sober. At the six months mark I went for a beer, not because I wanted one but to prove to myself that I could. It took that beer for me to know that my life now has no space for alcohol like it did. I no longer need it to hide from my poor choices. I have overcome it by doing the work each day to live a fulfilling life and to rebuild meaningful relationships.
It'll be a sad day on Thursday, but i'm sure a relief for you as you put in so much time and effort into putting this all together the past year. A HUGE Congrats my friend. I'll miss you for sure, but knowing what you have done here will inspire so may more to quit drinking once and for all. Thanks for all you did here. I personally appreciate it very much! -Bob
Nate you have enlightened me greatly! Really appreciate spending the year keeping up with your fantastic transformation and your heartfelt encouragement/ 👍🏼👍🏼truth telling on yourself really was impactful.
I'll be done with RUclips once I finish my 365 day video. My wife and I own a furniture and home decor business. That keeps me plenty busy! I also invest in real estate and own a few rentals that I manage myself. Going to keep expanding on that as well. On a personal level, I look forward to spending quality time with my family. My boys are 16 and 18 and it won't be too long before they fly the coop. I really enjoy having them around and want to make the most out of the next few years with them here. I also want to travel more and start taking a few more vacations too. Looking forward to my golden years with just the wife and I too. She is my best friend and we have been together since we were 14. Life is good!
Cant beleive how much of a change you have gone through and its made me realise how bad it is . Its worse than drugs and it should be seen as the same . Knowbody likes to admit that its this that is the problem 😂
Do you consider the average 2-3K steps that add up just walking around the house into your 10K steps every day or do you do the whole 10k in one daily walk? Congrats, Im sure these videos helped many people in this journey.
I used to when I first started, but now I also go on a 7 mile walk, hike or run each day. That's my "me" time to clear my head as well. I also do that at 4 or 5pm when I used to start drinking. I love it!
