Folks are saying this wasn't helpful. What else did you want her to tell you, to fill the crust with filling? It helped me, I didn't know if I need a roller or to stretch the dough or anything, so wasn't sure if I should get frozen crusts that are already formed and in the tin. Now I know I simply unroll it and fit it in a dish. The package will give the temperature and time. Thanks for posting this!
Thanks for the visit to my home and your kind encouragement. You most certainly exemplify one of our Diligent Homemakers. ♥️🏡♥️
It's not that it's not helpful I think for a new beginner it's not enough for the confidence to start is a better way of saying it I mean do you just go ahead and dump a whole can of peaches in it and what about the top layer do you got to cook pre-cooked the pie crust a little bit first there's many more questions
@@BritRose188 the Great Value (similar to Kroger) box didn't have the bake instructions. The canned filling instructed 425° 40-45 min.
Thank you, brief and to the point, just what I was looking for.
Glad it was helpful. ❤️katie
what was I suppose to learn from this this? What baking hacks ?
LOL I have often marveled at the thousands of folks who have watched this little video I put out when I was just learning to make videos. I have been blown away by the views and comments. Just goes to show, ya never know. 🤣😂
Should I pre-bake the store bought crust first? I am so tired of my bottom crust being soggy and hard to remove the slices from the pie plate.
Hello, I blind bake, or par-bake, only if the recipe is does not require a long baking time. For example, I completely bake the crust for cream or fruit pies like this one ruclips.net/video/iQbFGyekiiI/видео.html . I partially bake the crust for my quiches. I do not pre-bake for pies that will be baked longer times. You might enjoy this PIE playlist with lots of recipes and tips. ruclips.net/p/PLWtTIIsjgPo0NqEZKBscNIR8zrLsDSS_rThanks for visiting my home ❤️🏡❤️katie
@@HeritageWaysKatie thank you. I did pre-bake the crust and it worked so much better than putting my pie filling on top of an unbaked pie shell. I have tried my hand at making pie crusts from scratch like my grandmother did but they have never played nice with me 🤣 hence that is why I now buy Pillsbury pie crusts. I appreciate your assistance.
@@dorothywestcott2408 Glad that worked better for you. I do prefer the Kroger brand to the Pillsbury. Usually brand name products are better but I feel, in this case, the generic is better. Happy Pie Making!
@@HeritageWaysKatie good to know but I live in Florida and we do not have any Kroger grocery stores here. I would have to go to Georgia for that.. 😂. But maybe the next time I go to Georgia I can pick some up and put them in my freezer for later use. I appreciate your input. Thank you again 🙂👏👏
@@dorothywestcott2408 I like the generic from Aldi as well.
Are you poking holes or just pressing?
Hello, thanks for asking. I am pressing enough to poke holes. I am not intentionally trying to poke all the way through but, if that happens, that’s ok. The purpose is to allow air to vent to prevent the crust from bubbling during pre-baking. The holes bake together. The filling does not leak through. ♥️😃katie
@@HeritageWaysKatie Thanks for answering. Will definitely give it a try now that I know.
Not sure what I was supposed to take away from this video. I was looking for you to fill the bottom crust, attach the top crust and let us know what temp. for how long to bake the pie.
Completely agree with you. I am surprised at the views this video has received. It is one that I made and was experimenting with learning to make videos in 2017. Since then, of course, I have several homemade pie videos that I hope you enjoy. ❤️
For a pumpkin pie, do I pre bake the crust so it’s not soggy? Is for what temp and how long???
Typically, a crust does not have to be baked when making a pumpkin pie. However, if you would like to ensure a firmer crust, you might bake it at 400 for about 5 minutes. Hope that helps. Pumpkin Pie sounds wonderful! 🤎Katie
No one likes a soggy bottom! 🤣💥👌🏼
🤪🤗
Should I spray the pan prior to putting the crust down?
No need. 🤎
@@HeritageWaysKatie Thank you!!!
My crust completely shrunk in the oven and now it looks like naan
Sorry about that.
I saw a video where it says to let the crust fall into place vs pressing it all into the pan. He claims this helps prevent shrinking. I’m gonna try as my crust always shrinks too
Good tip. Thanks.
Buwahahaha😆😆😂
Can you use these pie crusts for peacan pie
Absolutely! Yum!
Ok thank you!
Thank you !
Sure thing! Enjoy your pie 😃katie
First time watching your channel. I usually roll out the store bought crust a little. (Feel it looks more homemade! Haha) I am wasting my time doing this? 🙃
Welcome! It's not necessary, but if it works for you, go for it! 🙂 Blessings! ❤🏠❤
Thanks a lot
You are welcome. ❤️katie
Roots rythym
Great beat🤩
Thank you 👍
How long it can be refrigerated?
These rolls can be frozen for several months. I have left some in the refrigerator for a month or longer. They did fine but I would recommend freezing if you don't need in that amount of time. Why not stock up for holiday baking! 😃 These sure are convenient to have and, I believe, taste just fine! I do prefer the generic brands over the name brands. I have other friends to prefer the generic as well. Thanks for watching. ❤️katie
I accidentally froze it!! Can I still use it?
Just thaw it out using defrost in the microwave or leave it in the fridge for a while
Of course!! I freeze them all the time. I wouldn’t use the microwave but just allow it to set out in the kitchen until thawed. Shouldn’t take long, maybe an hour or so? Relax and enjoy♥️katie
??
I didn't learn anything 😮
Some of my videos are aimed at beginners, like this one. Perhaps you might enjoy some of my other videos that use more advanced skills? Blessings. ❤🏠❤
@Heritage Ways Homemaking thats not the issue. It's because you literally DID NOT teach us a single thing rather then show, some people need explanationnot just visual. Did you mean to use only music? Not sure if you were trying to say anything, but it still sorta helped to watch. Lol
I mean it's pre nade crust...can't be too difficult right?
Bless your heart. Thanks for the view😉
Thanks. This was helpful to me. I went and ordered some of these roll out crusts after seeing your video.
Thank You!
You're welcome! Our channel has an ongoing summer cooking project happening now. Next week it will be Classic Desserts. Hope you'll join us. 😃katie
@@HeritageWaysKatie We will be tuned in Katie...thanks.
Thank you!
You're welcome! Enjoy ❣️Katie
So I unrolled my Pie Crust and it just broke apart, any reason for that?
Sounds like it wasn't allowed to warm well enough after removing from the refrigerator. Also, I have had this to happen if my crusts had been in the refrigerator for much much longer than the box indicated they could be, in other words, they were "old". I use them anyway. No problem. Just wet your fingers and use the dampness to "glue" the crust together. It should work just fine. 👍🏽
@@HeritageWaysKatieThank you! We didn't leave the crusts out at room temp for long enough, and it just crumbled into pieces. We're going to try to repair and 'glue' the crust together. 😅
Thank you
👍🏽
@@HeritageWaysKatie I was so happy to see this because I'd like to make my first pie and I saw this in the shop and wondered how to use it. I wanna bake a Keylime Pie :D
Thank you thank you thank you! I have been trying to explain to my husband what to buy when he is looking for these and this was a perfect example. I cant get out anymore and rely on him for the shopping. Now he knows what to look for!
Glad I could help!
This wasn’t helpful.
Bless your heart, thanks for the video review. Happy Thanksgiving😄
I agree this wasn’t helpful
😂😂
I never intended it to be “helpful” but to practice my beginning YT skills 6 yrs ago. Yet, here we are 76K views later. 😂😂
Perfect. I have frozen blueberries! what do I do now?
You may make a pie filling from those. I would imagine you can find a recipe for blueberry pie filling through an internet search. Enjoy😃
I want to make cheese cake but im not sure if i have to cook the pie crust first before pouring the filling or do i leave the pie crust raw and let it cook with the filling
I am not sure as I've never used a pie crust to make a cheesecake. Sorry I can't help with that. If I had to guess, I would say bake it a bit first, though. I am thinking of my Cottage Cheese Pie video when I say that....ruclips.net/video/6qxCLDUSlhM/видео.html
Thank you anyways
I always used a graham cracker pie shell for cheese cake. Learning something new every day!
love it sis thanks
Awesome!!
I buy this brand all the time but I end up with tears and rips. Do you let yours thaw at all?
Yes I actually do let it thaw for 15 or more minutes, sometimes even hours if I don’t get to it in time. And I just simply pinch the tears or the rips together if that happens.
Thank you so much! For some reason I kept thinking I had to use it straight from the fridge! I can't wait to be as effortless as you. Thanks again!
You’re so welcome!
What size pie dish
Regular or deep dish is fine
Did you blind bake these crusts??
