Unless it's changed, there are very few benefits to the starter store. You definitely don't have access to the marketing tools. Also, I don't think you get a shipping supply coupon. The Basic store gives you access to the marketing tools and a $25 supply coupon. The Premium Store is when you get the $50 coupon.
Hi! Thanks for your comment - as of this morning, you do get access to the marketing tab according to eBay’s website. It shows the comparison between store options and the starter store does in fact get the markdown and promotion manager tabs for your store. For the coupons, I think you may be right on the $25! It doesn’t show the exact amount but that would totally make sense.
@@TrashPandasThrift Yes, $25 coupon for the basic store is 100%. I just redeemed it a few days ago. I will look at the starter store again as the main reason I went with the basic was to have access to doing mark down sales & coupons.
Gotcha - thank you for letting me know! And yes - those features are so super important! According to eBay’s website they do come with those features and you can always email eBay support if you want to confirm with a live person too :)
I have concerns about selling on EBay because I’ve heard some stories about return issues. I’ve also been told you can’t use stock photos and I use them on Poshmark every time I find them. Do you use a service that cross lists your items? I’m really enjoying your RUclips videos so far. Thanks so much for
So happy to hear you say to fill out all the item specifics on eBay! I’ve always done this yet I hear other resellers saying they just fill out the bare minimum. Also, I do my own cross listing starting with eBay then Posh and finally Mercari because like you mentioned once I have eBay done the others are a breeze. I try to keep my overhead costs as low as possible and my eBay store subscription pays for itself since I don’t have to buy polymailers or tape. Thanks for making me feel good about what I’m doing ❤in my reselling business.
You,Sean,Caley and Nikki are my only four I need in my life. I will be joining the group soon I'm just working on my Warehouse getting things sorted 😂😂😂😂
Hi! So Sean didn’t join the business until I had around 1500 items, but I was solo full time from the start (I was also in school full time so wasn’t needing to make THAT much from the business as Sean was covering most of our expenses then, but I was generating around $3K - $4K take home with 400ish items)
This is so true! I also think most businesses and even the kinds of clothes in someone's store could affect sales differently. Generally, there is the "summer slowdown" during summer months, which for us we always made up for by increasing items listed, and then during the christmas holiday/black friday holiday people tend to buy more retail. Best months I couldn't really say - overall we are very consistent overall with our numbers throughout most of the year.
@@TrashPandasThrift thanks , yes the most listings the more sales. It just feels that my sales are not high this summer unless i go very low on prices which is not profitable
I definitely get that! Accepting lower offers can be a little frustrating - we always have had a very low cost of good and intentionally gave ourselves enough room to profit even on lower offers, but sometimes with a higher COGs you have to sit on items a bit longer to get a price you can afford to take
Do you price your items the same on ebay as you do on poshmark? Thats a huge stress for me is trying to figure it out because I have a much higher asp on posh than ebay when i do list both.
@@TrashPandasThrift Ok, this really helps. I was worried about buyers looking at the same item and priced differently but makes me feel better I'm not the only one that does based on that Posh fee. Thanks a bunch!
Yes! Having a store gives so many perks - and I may or may not be a eBay conspiracy theorists but it could also be boosting traffic to the store over sellers with no store! (Though I have no proof lol)
I have been selling on PM for a little over a year. Looking at adding eBay. My concern is about shipping. I live in So California and wonder how to calculate shipping, or what method to use. Some do flat rate... Can you give advice on this?
@@TrashPandasThriftso if that is the case then any difference in weight like on higher weight item would come out of my sale? Say the difference in shipping a blouse or dress vs boots?
That is the thing with flat rate shipping- it can take some trial and error and experimenting to get a flat rate method that works well for you that doesn’t end up with you having to cover the extra cost on some orders. I recommend having a few tiers for different weight classes - I will also say there is a new feature where if you use calculated shipping you can “pass on” your top rated shipping discount that can help with that issue!
i sold my first item on eBay last week. i really do not know what im doing. 🙈 i paid for my shipping label via ebay and shipped out my item the next day. it said 3 day shipping, how do i know it will ship correctly and on time? (it was whatever type shipping eBay automatically calculated and did for me)
I think its mental but what drives me away from ebay is those darn item specs and how sensitive it is about reviews. I have goals and are driving me back to it.
I totally get this!!! eBay can definitely appear to be intimidating at first, but honestly after you get over the initial learning curve I 100% think it’s worth it for most clothing resellers. For us, it was a serious game changer and the ONLY reason we grew our business and were able to go full time together. There are other platforms for sure that people swear by, and that’s also totally valid! We personally just believe it’s the best platforms for the vast majority of clothing resellers to succeed on based on number of users, transactions, sales, marketing tools, customer base, etc.
Hi! Yes I was wrong on that one - the starter store gives you a $25 coupon for eBay products each quarter. The value of the store is more in the marketing tools than anything else!
Are you aware of any simplified, through lists of ebay rules, allowed and not allowed? I find it very confusing when trying to educate myself, and study all the things that help you in the algorithm, as well as what I could get punished for. A video summarizing these things and beginner's guide would be awesome. I have been working towards this for 2 years. I have sourced a lot, but still struggling with finding the brands that are advised by many RUclipsrs. I must get this launched asap as I need income.
Hi! I’m not currently aware of any thorough lists - but your best resource is going to be eBay itself. They are constantly changing rules and I would rely on the information they release over anything else. Also, I definitely get the brands thing! That’s a huge reason why our business relies heavily on keywords for both branded and style based pieces.
@@TrashPandasThrift thanks so much for your answers. I think I am going to try to stress less about the brands and rely more on keywords, otherwise I thnk I am bound for the reseller psych ward, lol! After watching your latest video I think it's clear that aesthetics are important when it comes to people making the decision to purchase. As a creative, it has been difficult to have to pass up pieces that have a great look because they didn't fall into the desired brands. I think I have a fairly good grasp about keywords and descriptions. I have noticed several sellers that can command a better price than many are setting on a lot of these pieces. I think your emphasis on consistancy, which includes pricing is important here. These folks that I was referring to seem to set most of their prices at a certain point, or over, reguardless of the fact they may not be one of the more desirable brands. I will still need to learn more about brands and wholeselling. That is the direction I eventually want to head in. We will see. Thanks for all you do!

The shipping coupon is $25 at $14.95 store sub
I hate doing weights and measures 😭 This is the only reasonI focus to posting on Poshmark. I used to post on Mercari and eBay.

Thank you guys so much for your content! So so helpful! Ya'll are awesome!

Do you still list on eBay and Poshmark? If so, what are your store/closet name?
I did the same thing. Started on Mercari, then Poshmark and then into EBay. However, Poshmark and EBay are usually close sales wise monthly.
Haha I love hearing other people starting on mercari!! I had the same trajectory - mercari, posh, eBay.

If there is a "specifics" category that you can NOT fill, would you suggest putting unknown OR leaving it blank?
Hi! If you absolutely can’t fill it out, I would suggest leaving blank :)
Thank you!

We listed a bit higher on Poshmark than we did on eBay because we personally heavily relied on closet clearouts and to account for the 20% fees.

What happens when you are listing your drafts while on vacation & you get sales …. Do you have someone else process the shipping while your away ?
Hi! We never did that - we simply extended shipping time on eBay or use vacation mode :)
How do you clean items that are dry clean only?
Hi! You can certainly spot treat an item if there are small stains, it’s just very material dependent and flaw dependent.

It is not $50 eBay code. It’s based on how much you pay for your store level.
