@@carrieathome Im glad you liked it, the least I could do for one of those who supply the wind to the sails of my enjoyment and motivate me to be better with my ebay business.
I agree with the waste of trying to get perfect photos. Some of the biggest sellers on ebay have horrible photos and some don't even put in clothing measurements!!!! This taught me to stop spending so much time on trying to get professional pics.
I do think they should include measurements. That’ll bring more protection when it comes to INADs or bad/neutral feedback. But yea! They’re pumping them out, not making catalogue quality photos :)
I do jeans. Front, back, tags, measurements , done. I like them better than shirts. I fell into jeans heavily on accident buying out another ebay seller who retired Jeans. I copy techs description method. Super simple and repratable. Been working well for me so far.
I have often referred to myself as a "Defeated Perfectionist," a term my mother found in some self-help book. Meaning that the need to be perfect is such an enemy of being good enough that one never even tries in the first place. Many times when I sit down to list I spend a lot of time "perfecting." (Every piece of dust, perfectly cleaning items, etc.) When I see other sellers who don't even care 1% being wildly successful. The reason they make more is that they DO MORE. I have been watching you and Tech and I sell mostly collectible/vintage/antiques smalls and jewelry, but I picked up my first pair of jeans, carhartt overalls for 3 bucks and am going to set up a clothes station. I want to be wildly successful after watching you guys and I am seeing that there needs to be a reliable consistency in sourcing. Hoping to find ounces of sterling for 10 bucks isn't a good business model, but clothes are EVERYWHERE. I really needed to hear this about the 80% because my 100% is limiting my potential.
“Not being good enough” has been something I’ve struggled with my entire life. It’s empowering to know that I don’t need to be perfect to succeed. Simply taking forward action and improving will take me far. You’ve got this! 💪
For anybody that likes to sell clothes, I tried to sell clothes both jeans, shorts, and every type of shirt based on BOLOS. Jeans and shorts actually sell well, shirts sell so damn slow its literally painful to experience. I sell used electronics and have a 230% sell though rate and normally a 45-60 day turnaround.
Until Ebay actually provides ANY level of protection or respect for their sellers, I will continue to not offer returns. I provide an extreme amount of information for every item I list; photos, photos showing measurements, verbiage with measurements, etc. Everything clearly worded, no spelling mistakes, 24 photos, and asking the buyer to ask questions BEFORE BIDDING. I had a girl buy a pair of overalls, admit via email that she used them for a photo shoot and then wanted to return them (against my policy.) I said no. She opened a return case making false claims about the item's condition that were CLEARLY proven false based on the information and photos in my original listing. I literally could prove to Ebay, using my photos, that she was lying. Ebay sided with her anyways and I was forced to pay the return shipping and accept the item back after she used the garnent for what she needed. So no, I do not and will not accept returns, EVER, until Ebay supports its sellers in a way that is fair and just. People are jerks and dishonest for the most part, and if someone "can't read," well, f 'em.
I had that happen to me too. And it made me stop completely for a good while. I clearly had it marked that I can't do returns because, realistically, I didn't have the money to do refunds during school. Well, after the girl claimed an item had too many stains that I didn't mention, which if I had seen them I wouldn't have sold it...anywho, to ebay they forced a return and negatived my PayPal. So, I pulled all my cards before they could go after my bank account. And that was it for me.
Only 1% of my items are returned. If a buyer wants to return an item, they will be able to. If the item was damaged, to include smell, you can deduct money for such damage.
Great video about how to stand out in a crowded category. I buy a lot of jeans online for myself as well as sell them (mostly men's) and I generally don't put the color in if it's simply "blue" but will put in the color if it's an odder one like brown or green or black. If they are just blue I might use dark wash, faded, distressed, light wash, etc But as a tall girl what is really important for me when doing a jean search is to see the inseam length in the title. A lot of people don't bother to put it in the item specifics so if I use the item specifics to narrow the initial search I will miss a lot. But I find it very frustrating to have to click on the listings, view the description or all the pictures just to see the inseam measurement. I agree that a nice frontal full length picture of the jeans is really essential as the first picture, you can tell color, leg width and even get an idea of rise and inseam from a good basic picture. I know that it's harder to have a full length photo setup, but I would rather see them photographed on the floor than folded to a shorter length.
The title structure tip is such a huge takeaway for me! I bet this can be applied to not only jeans, but all clothing. It just makes sense! Thank you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wonderful advice and very wise. I listened to the entire video and I could hear the little feet running and your dog barking. So sweet to hear an active house.
Great video, Carrie! The title structure was especially helpful. I feel like I can't get enough good lighting for my photos. I have two sets of the LED bar lights like you showed in your shirt store videos. The background is a tiled gray vinyl flooring piece. Flat lay. I wonder if the gray fleece would make the difference? Also, as a buyer I almost never buy from a seller that does not allow returns, though I rarely return anything unless it is broken.
You may need to play with the light positioning to ensure the most light is hitting the area you want light up. Also, check the power knob to see if your lights are on 100% or if they’re dimmed a bit. Hope this helps!

Can you post a link to the graphic of the EBay title guidelines? I would like to share it with my beginners selling group if possible. I redid my titles after watching this and sold something within HOURS! Thank you!
First off, I love your videos. We started on ebay with little things. Then my husband's cousin got cancer, was in remission and broke his femur and it came back with a vengeance. His appliance parts business became ours. We bought his widow out for nothing hardly. I'm selling those parts but also clothes. I've wondered if I should open a separate store for each. Let me know what you think. The cousins business is appliance parts that are worth almost half a million bucks. We have already made our money back three fold and have hundreds more to list. I love selling them but also the clothes. Thank you your videos!
That’s great to hear the success you’ve been having with the appliance parts! If it’s going well this far, I wouldn’t change anything and just keep selling on the one store.
Great vid as usual! Thanks for continuing to inspire and educate those of us trying to grow in the resell game! I can TOTALLY relate with striving for perfection. I’ve gotten much better about not beating myself up and moving forward though. Kudos and MUCH respect from Louisiana! 🤘
@@carrieathome Thank you so much for the encouragement! Hi Carrie, didn’t hear anything about handling time. I was hoping you would have touched on that. Great advice. I will pay more attention to my title structure.
Great video. Thank you for sharing this information. Do you have a video or information on the picture settings on your phone? Like iso, exposure, light settings. Thanks again
I've tried free returns 3 different times. Each time my returns have gone up (not dramatically but up) and my overall sales do not seem to increase noticeably. I do agree with what you are saying but on the other hand I don't feel I can't afford to pay for returns with all of the other costs. Possibly I am missing something in my listings but I do show and record all measurements. Dunno. I'd really like to take them. Profit margin is just really squeezed. Maybe it depends on how many items you are selling or something. I list 7 and sell 6+ per day, so I'm kinda small and this is a side gig. Nice videos.
It sounds like a you’re trying your best! If you haven’t noticed an increase in sales after trying it a few times, then maybe just wait until your store is a bit bigger and try again? I don’t know how long you left them on for but I’d give it a month of trial to see how it does month over month (not during summertime though there’s less buyers on ebay than fall-spring).
Love all of your videos especially how you focus on processes. It’s so refreshing to find content exactly what I was looking for ! One question though , how many listings a day do you recommend?
Pricing? How do you price your jeans? Most recent completeds? Average from Terapeak? I want to balance getting a nice profit and moving inventory at a good rate. Maybe a separate video?
I can totally make a video about it! But so you get your answer sooner, I comp from ebay sold comps. I make sure my search is specific enough to get accurate comps but not too specific where I’m only basing it off of like two other comps lol. I’ll sort high to allow and scroll until I find a good amount of consistent price point. I’ll price it there 👍
Curious with the description. Where would you put the word vintage for those older items? I have it as my first word but not sure that's the best place.
It always amazes me the photos people choose for their listings 😅 ugh I just don’t want to deal with returns lol I haven’t had any issues with it so far but maybe in the future I’ll offer it
@@carrieathome Back when I only sold higher end video games I had no returns on because I kept getting scam returns. Even then they could still open a return request and ebay let them.
How do you track cost of goods? I see you put the jeans in a bag and you have a sticker with a number on it. What is the number mean or from? Also what size are the bags? Last thing When taking your pictures do you break up the picture of each jean so you can use the correct picture for the correct jeans, like for example last picture would be of the jean in the bag with the number on it. If that even makes any sense.
Thank you. I have no been offering returns. It seems so scary to me. But you and a few other resellers say that it’s not that often you get it but a return. I’m going to change my listings and see what happens. Also I’m sure I can find this somewhere, but how does the return process work? Do you wait to send return label?
Thanks for the helpful advice. Do you include the word "Size" in your title? You didn't mention that in your examples. Just curious if you think it matters one way or another. Thanks again!
I personally don't. eBay reads the size portion of the title as the size without needing the word "size" there. Plus you get extra characters for another keyword!
@@carrieathome Thanks so much! Another question - Do you follow these same title guidelines on items that have a school or sports team on them? - For example an Under Armour Notre Dame Hoodie. How would you title it? Brand first or school/team first then item then gender? Thanks!
@@steelbluetj I don’t have a lot of experience listing sports team items. But I think the best way to distinguish how to list it would depend on the items tag. If it’s a team issued item, I would list the team first. If it’s a Nike or Under Armour tag with a team logo, then I would list the brand (Nike or Under Armour) first and use the team as a keyword.
How did you ever make it to the point of selling on average as much as your listing each day? I know STR of the items you are sourcing is the best way to help with this. It still seams that no matter what I do, my inventory will always out grow my Storage capabilities. Any help in this area on your videos would be great. Great job on the videos you produce.
Hi Carrie, another great video, thank you. I was just wondering how you can check to see what your ranking is against other sellers in a category, if you can tell me that would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Jeans are heavy and take a long time to dry when the whole load is just jeans. I don’t think a lot of people CAN do jeans. Something to consider. I do think having a niched inventory leads to a manufacturing process In & Out. That’s good 👍

@@carrieathome Awesome to hear! We have so much to list! I will plow through while taking care of my dad and get it done!
I know for a fact without looking I put “jeans” at end of listing. I will update all titles tonight watching basketball! 😄
Wow! So glad the will be a big help for you!
Carrie this video is fire!! 🔥🔥🔥 I love how you explained and made your info soooo easy to understand. Bravo!! 👏
Yay! Thank you!
Excellent info!! Thank you!
Great vid as usual! Thanks for continuing to inspire and educate those of us trying to grow in the resell game! I can TOTALLY relate with striving for perfection. I’ve gotten much better about not beating myself up and moving forward though. Kudos and MUCH respect from Louisiana! 🤘
You can do it!
@@carrieathome Thank you so much for the encouragement! I always (selfishly lol) wish that y’all and all of my other favorite content creators posted more but now that I’ve started documenting my own journey I have even more respect for how often you post AND the quality of the vids. Staying disciplined! 💪
Great content that is going to help a lot of resellers out there.
Appreciate it!
Hi Carrie, didn’t hear anything about handling time. I was hoping you would have touched on that. Great advice. I will pay more attention to my title structure.
Maybe I can make another video like this to share more! I didn’t want to bog down the video too much with too much info!
Great video. Thank you for sharing this information. Do you have a video or information on the picture settings on your phone? Like iso, exposure, light settings. Thanks again
Thanks! I don’t have that info in a video but it depends on your lighting situation and the phone to choose which settings are best.
Another excellent video!! I’m always excited when I see you have a new video posted! Thank you for all you do 😊
Yay! Thank you!
Always happy when a new video pops up. Caught this one, mins after it went live.
You rock!
It depends on how much you can find to consistently list the same amount every day :)
Very informative. I really liked your presentation and I learned a lot! Thank You!!
Thank you!
Thank you for another great video! Would love to see how you price them.
Your videos leave me wanting more. Thank you for the valuable information.
Happy to hear that!
So informative thankyou!
I’ll price it there 👍
Great Video, changing my titles now. Would love to hear about some of your favorite brands or how to spot the good ones.
Noted!
Curious with the description. Where would you put the word vintage for those older items? I have it as my first word but not sure that's the best place.
I put VTG in the beginning :)
It always amazes me the photos people choose for their listings 😅 ugh I just don’t want to deal with returns lol I haven’t had any issues with it so far but maybe in the future I’ll offer it
I’ve seen some really…. Interesting photos before… lol
Offering returns is definitely something to try! You can always turn it back off if you want.
@@carrieathome Back when I only sold higher end video games I had no returns on because I kept getting scam returns. Even then they could still open a return request and ebay let them.
Well this long time reseller learned something. I never really put gender in the title, I thought people searched by categories. Thank you!
thank you for this advice!
Thank you for sharing this information. Truly believe it will make a difference.
I hope so!
Thanks for the info
Would love some listing tips in order to help expedite process
Thank you for this video. You have put so many things in my mind straight.
That’s great!
Just found your channel. Love all your information. I was wondering how you upload the pictures from your phone to your computer?
Welcome! I use a USB cable to import my photos to the computer. I’m unsure how it works with Apple products unfortunately
Thanks so much. Do you have a link to your jeans ebay store?
Love your channel and your knowledge. Can you please tell me where you get your storage boxes? Thank you! ❤
Thank you! They are from Uline in the size 24x10x8 :)
Thsnk you!!
Carrie, Thanks for the great content. Do you have a link for the clear sealable bags you use for your jeans?
Thank you! I’m adding links over on my Instagram page to keep things organized and together :)
Here to learn Carrie! Thank you so much!
You are so welcome!
This is very helpful information. Thank you for another great video!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips!! 😄
Hi Carrie, another great video, thank you. I was just wondering how you can check to see what your ranking is against other sellers in a category, if you can tell me that would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
That would be the listing quality report found in the top right corner of the traffic page 👍
@@carrieathome thank you, much appreciated.
great information
Jeans are heavy and take a long time to dry when the whole load is just jeans. I don’t think a lot of people CAN do jeans. Something to consider. I do think having a niched inventory leads to a manufacturing process In & Out. That’s good 👍
I haven’t noticed a major concern when drying jeans. I used dryer balls and my dryer has an auto dry sensor on it. No issues!
