      Even if it were still a 13.3" display, having thinner bezels would be nice, but it isn't a must have. What I'm most interested in is the 11th Gen Intel Graphics that are ont he 10th Gen Ice Lake silicon. I'd love to see more on that.

    For me, if the high end 13 inch do the job its fine by me, I am a designer and I would need performance, although I loved the 16 inch but:
    1- its a bit expensive for me
    2- I have a mac at the office and a PC desktop at home so I won’t be using it that often
    I liked the Macbook Air but I am a designer and I need performance and the most thing I liked about the updated 13inch:
    1- 16 GB RAM
    2- Magic Keyboard
    As for the screen, if I would need a big screen I could simply connect the laptop into a monitor.
    I don’t do video editing and I hate After Effects, personal reasons, but I want to learn final cut pro.

      sam guapo I can totally see this. It’s crazy how much quicker an app like LumaFusion can render a 4K video I AirDroped than my older MB Pro. I also think the Apple Pencil and touch layout is more intuitive and conducive to video editing than mouse and keyboard. I’m hoping FCP when it does eventually make it to the iPad will evolve video editing on IPad OS from the more restricted LumaFusion.

    • @samguapo4573
      @samguapo4573 4 года назад +1

      @@clintgolub1751 I'm just waiting for Apple to tell developers to start porting their Apps to ARM then I'll wait for an ARM Mac. Being familiar with chip design and technology, it was a no brainer that RISC based ARM's with UNIX based OS (Apple OS). Would absolutely destroy x86 based systems esp. for 95% of the typical instructions used in programs. Apple's marriage to Intel is like having a spouse that you're fooling yourself is a good idea until you realize, has been holding you back all your life.

      Kafala Well we know that's never coming back. Apple has decided to treat ports like their phone cases. They made a market for ports by removing them. Just like the durability of phones (or lack thereof) created a market for phone cases. At this point, I'm just glad they came to their senses and pulled themselves from the brink by going back to the scissor switch keyboard. All that being said however, there is no excuse for paying upwards of 3 grand and I still have to use an external webcam. That can never be justified.

    I had to downlaod an app to turb off turbo-boost (Endurance app) and anotehr app to manually turn on both fans at max RPM (Mac Fan Control app), is there an app you know that can undervolt or underclock the processor from 2.0 Ghz to something like 1.5 to reduce the heat and prolonge the battery life ?

    The professional world post COVID has changed, today an engineer, lawyer, ecc, needs to talk remotely with customers, so, sound quality and video quality is very very important. Even today, if I want a good image to give a conference I have to sign in twice, one for the ppt presentation and the other for video and sound with iPhone. A good camera at MacBook is a must, not a nice to have.

    tell me what is the best thing to do. I bought the 2019 MacBook pro 4 USB -C, is it wise to bump up the Ram to 16GB and SSD to 1TB or go for the 2020 MacBook pro 4 USB-C?

      I have one of those. Still going strong. I will wait for the 14 "or buy the new 16 next year. This 13" will be ideal but 8th generación cpu its a big let down

    If one does not want to spend the money for the higher end MacBook pro, would you recommend the MacBook air with i5 and 16GB RAM? It seems like that is more powerful than the entry level MacBook pro due to the 10th gen processors, higher end graphics, and bumping the RAM.

    • @saileshrachapudi8486
      @saileshrachapudi8486 4 года назад +3

      No those aren’t powerful, they look powerful because new ‘architecture’ but in reality they are just y processors that can’t sustain loads. Also, they don’t have better cooling than the Pro Ones

    • @saileshrachapudi8486

      Also, it depends on your work; if you barely made the Pro Sweat, then I think what you are suggesting is a splendid option.

    I wish to connect either this MacBook Pro while at home to 5k monitor on my desk, or the Air. Would the Air have enough power to push the 5k pixels at i5 level?

    ARM-based units will be arriving sooner than many are predicting... ARM Macs will kill Hackintoshes with the accompanying iteration of MacOS... not 3rd party apps themselves, only booting/running with strict hardware "handshaking" ....and don't be surprised if this is the last Gen of Intel-based "mobile" Macs...These new Mobile Macs will finally be fully-realized, sealed, configure at purchase models only...the iPad Pro is the best current example of this concept...In a nutshell, iPads, iPhones and Laptops will all run the same flavor of OS.....Consider the tighter integration, performance and power management now do-able with the A13 processor....Also, IMO, Apple sunk too much into the new prestige Mac Pro line....really just to prove they could do it....oh, and forget about Boot Camp.......

    Wow, that's slightly embarrassing. The iPhone camera blows it away. If they can fit that into an 8.3mm iPhone, I really don't see why they can't fit that into a Macbook display, it's not that much thinner.

    Hi Rene, I just found your channel and I love it. I want to replace my old 2013 Macbook Air and I'm not sure which one I should buy. The Air with the I5 with 16 GB of RAM or the Basic Pro with 16 GB of Ram. Both are about the same price. I'll be using this laptop for some light video editing and office work with many documents open at the same time. Thanks!

    I don't know, Rene. I wanted to see if you touched on thermals on these. Some of us can't afford to have different Apple devices to distribute the load, so I only have my MBP 2019 (i7, 32Gb or ram) as my all-in-one station for work and play. This thing gets hot quite a bit already, when I push it with Excel. I can imagine how it gets when editing video. As much as I love my MBP, there is so much power you can cram into a limited space. I hope the next design iteration takes this into consideration.

    • @ReneRitchie
      @ReneRitchie  4 года назад +1

      I included Ian Cutress of AnandTech explaining "thermals" because, thanks to a lot of bad RUclips videos, they've become really misunderstood. And yeah, it gets hot. Apple has no problem running at thermal max. They could make the MacBook's bigger and put more elaborate cooling in them, but those probably aren't the MacBooks they want to make or anyone would want to buy. Or, like gaming laptops, you'd unplug them and they'd go into super low perf mode until they died. Quickly.There's no cheating physics, alas.

    • @ddamx
      @ddamx 4 года назад

      @@ReneRitchie Point taken. Thanks for your response. I get the balance Ian Cutress was talking about, I just wanted to see if getting as hot as they do was something everyone was experiencing, and felt it could impact the life of the machine. Especially for us that buy them for their longevity. D2D made a good point on how hot these get, which is what I was basing me on, plus my own experience. No cheating physics, for sure. Thanks again for taking the time. I appreciate your work.
