I'd say leave old girl like she is . You know every old Johnson sounds the same . That's a sound you'll never hope to go away . like ur vids . keep them coming .
Scruffy cause that’s the era of hard workin and not being afraid to get down and dirty!! Wish mine started on the first pull. Thanks I’ve got the exact sea hoarse☝️
It's a good runner, and it is a pretty decent original. I'd give it a full tune up and pressure check / reseal and leave the paint alone. Nice motor Scott!.
When emissions and fuel consumption weren’t a problem, OMC owned the outboard market! (Cheap gas and not enough outboards to hurt the environment) GlennFHoward
I'm really glad that you got a job. I gotta say that little motor sounds absolutely fantastic. I understand that it needs a little bit of this and that but boy O boy sounds good let it be a classic
Well if anybody cares I have decided to paint it, my wife had the last vote her vote was to paint it. So got a keep them happy too. I will do a new video after the paint job
I vote for paint! OMC made millions of them, not a rare motor. It is nice but not that nice! Do the stuff that will make ir reliable and soak in the WOWs at the boat ramp. thanks for posting dale
Just tune it up with new points ans leave paint alone. I own opne my self and have to retune the points or replace a condenser as it is running on one cylinder and have not touched it in a while . But for me I have left my paint alone.
I have an exact 1956 15 hp almost all original but the carb that I changhe some years ago. It runs great as yours and is quite funny because the engine sound they made are just the same. Excellent little motors! I will upload a video of mine (paint restored homemade) in about a mont. It would be great if you can take a look on it and tell me your opinion or things to perform on it. Thank you!

Ok thanks for your vote
It's pretty easy to convert them into a single line fuel line. I have the exact motor with a setup like that. Maybe I'll post a video of how I did it
Looks good with a bit of age. My experience is, after you paint them nice and pretty you are away worried about that first scratch.

This is true but it's not like they are a high dollar piece of furniture your trying to keep the value up on. That's why I'm sure what I'm going to do
