This a 1958 18hp as found. I only buy motors like this now. All I did to the outside was clean and wax it. It is was very very low hour motor. Only needed coils and water pump. there very little to no dirt only the flywheel it looked new under there also.

First off sorry for wind noise and low sound. This was my one and only winter motor I done this winter. I'm slowing down. I only have a 2 car garage. I don't have a lot of space to store them. But it's a low hour motor. That the only one's I look for now.

Johnson 1958 First Start New Old stock

Will I decided to go ahead and run my NOS 1958 10hp. I didn't buy it to save it or resell for more money 10 years later. Really I was drying to see how a band new one would run, don't get to see that everyday. I replaced coils, spark wires and gas line going to the carb. I didn't go anything to the carb. I haven't replace the water pump yet but looks like it pumping good water for being 59 year...

Here my latest 1955 QD-16 on the boat. Looks like I need to revisit the timing is was running smoother last time out. One set of points must be out of adjustment. Didn't get the hold down screw tight
Johnson outboard QD-16 10hp 1955
Просмотров 2 тыс.7 лет назад
This is my second QD-16 and it is a time capsule. I think it could only have about 10 to 15 hour on it. I was the first person to turn a screw on this one. It has what I call hanger rash from being moved around for 62 years but not from use. This not the same motor in my other video early this year. That one is for sale on Ebay right now $300.00 PS. I did tighten the head bolts that why there m...

This my 1955 10hp in tank for my first video of 2017 Sorry for just showing to top of motor at the end of video
They run that well after year of abuse as well. Thanks for sharing
I had the exact same motor, belong to my dad. After sitting over 20 years, I put fuel in tank, hooked to motor an on third pull it fired and ran like new. Still pumped water. I donated this motor to the NC Maritime Museum in Beaufort, NC for others to enjoy. I have a youtube video on this motor as well.
I wish i never sold this one
Back in the good old days where there was no Yamaha Honda or Suzuki
I had this one on a 8foot hydro lots of fun
I bet that thing was like jet boat with 18hp on it
Do you still have this and do you want to sell it?
No its sold sorry
Nice!!!
Thanks
leave it sweet
I did
I have an old one of these that “came with the house”. Other than dust on it I have no idea its operating status. What would an unknown running condition motor like this be worth to someone willing to fix it up?
Would have to see some pictures. Condition makes a big difference on value
I have a 1955 evenrude 15 fastwin. Runs great. I use it all the time
I have a 1955 15fastwin. All original. Hasv 100psi. Starts 2nd pull every time. Old school. The best . Im 76
Sounds like you have a one
Love it Scott!! Keep up with the great work!!
Thanks I'm slowing down not doing as many

@@outboardfun3353 Hi Do you still have this one is it still holding up ? Or did you sell it ? Mine looks new inside and out I’m just worried because it sit for so long if it has any dry seals I may need to worry about I don’t know anything about a boat motor in fact this is the first boat I ever bought
No I don't have any more. About the only seal I had trouble with was the top crank seal. @@Mothvibes-p4t
Amazing I love it Glad to see this I just purchased this same motor on a 16 ft v bottom I can not wait to try it out

If this engine for sale send me the price
Elto Handitwin is sold i still the Scott-Atwater 7.5hp is still for sale for $150.
Very nice hope you never scratched the hood putting it down on the cement . If that were me I would have used cardboard . Once again very nice job.
I only put them down on carpet
@@outboardfun3353 Oh okay but in your video you out it down on the cement lol just something i noticed . Not trying to be rude just pointing something out i saw in the video was all.
Just tune it up with new points ans leave paint alone. I own opne my self and have to retune the points or replace a condenser as it is running on one cylinder and have not touched it in a while . But for me I have left my paint alone.
Just tune it up with new points ans leave paint alone.
that's what I did.
Nice!
thanks
Those were the best motors ever made
Yes, I think so too.
You do know you put a 1957 Medallion on a 1958 Motor as the 58 Has three Holes and the 57 wont fit on the 58 Hood. Trust me I know .
They are nearly impossible to find. I did the same thing on a 1958- 7 1/2 Johnson. Looks much better than an empty spot with three holes staring at you
@@ALVintageOutboards I understand that but some times you can find a parts motor with a good Medallion that Could be sent away some where's to be reproduced if there is some one that can reproduce one that is. There is a decal one for the 57 instead of drilling holes hope you did that instead of drilling new holes.
THIS IS SOLD STILL HAVE 5.5HP FOR SALE
Wow another sweet classic! Mark in Iowa.

That is a sweet running 7 1/2 Scott! It looks great as well! Have a great weekend Sir! Mark in Iowa.
Where did you order the impeller kit for it?
Ebay
Got a 58 Johnson 18 in the barn. I like the motors that were popular when i was a youngster.
Beautiful little beast!
thank you it's a lot of work
Hello, hey I've got that same motor, I think it's seized for very CHEAP if your interested for collecting or parts....it ran great once upon a time..I used to go out with my grandpa in his little John boat with that motor on it..he just loved that motor.
You said 1956 ? Or 1958 ?
1958
Do you have a video or setting the timing with a light
NO I do not
this is how I do it now works better watch this video ruclips.net/video/eNK2TEeQQv0/видео.html
I know this is an old video. Ut that is a beautiful and stylish motor
Yes, they are I just got done doing 58 7.5hp got a 5.5hp to do next.
These 10,s are fast.
It's pretty easy to convert them into a single line fuel line. I have the exact motor with a setup like that. Maybe I'll post a video of how I did it
Scott, that motor is running great!! I thank you for selling it to me. I only take it out to run it a precious few times a year. I want to keep it as original as you found it!! It’s in the same condition as you sold it to me and is a show piece in my living room.😊
I BOUGHT ONE TODAY JUST LIKE IT IT LOOKS NEW I haven’t tried to start it or anything yet the guy told me he hasn’t ran it in 4 years I suppose I have it looked at make sure the seals are not dried out
I would definitely replace the impeller, if your not sure how old it is. After that it’s what’s needed.
Motor is looking awesome like usual Scott! I’m still running both of your 18s. They are phenomenal.
Did you end up getting out of the hobby? I’m thinking of getting into it.
Yes I have 2 left 1957 10hp 1926 2.5 hp for sale
@@outboardfun3353 any more info about the 57?
@@mxaexm I have gone through it got it running great. water pumps points, coils seal etc. put some clean coat on the cowling. but did not paint. clear coat was the maintain the patina.
Beautiful motor. Runs great. Good job.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas
