  • The gigantic, still-functional bullfrog from Tales of the Okefenokee's frog pond, as well as a smaller static frog used in the same scene. Note that the animated bullfrog is actually one of the very few figures from the original 1967 iteration of the attraction that was left intact when the ride was revamped by the Krofft brothers during the earliest months of 1968, something which is especially apparent when comparing its design to that of the smaller 1968 frog. Also note that the animated bullfrog is NOT owned by Tim Hollis; it belongs to someone else entirely, and this video only exists because Hollis happened to make arrangements with the frog's owner to borrow it and have it displayed as part of a fortieth-anniversary museum exhibit held at Six Flags Over Georgia in 2007. With the help of some long-time electrical workers at the park, the frog's motor was restored, although the figure never ended up being displayed.

    I find it really cool that a animatronic that hasn’t been in a attraction since 1980 is still moving! However, it makes me sad that these figures are probably the only physical remains of the attraction itself…

      A private collector who used to work at SFOT supposedly does actually own a few 1968 figures from the attraction, and we do know that one is a mr fox figure, very unfortunately however, some air head threw a huge fit after wanting to buy the figures, as the owner did not sell them, which caused the owner to never capture a photo of the figures, however Tim does own a very old 68 frog figure in his collection

      You probably wouldn't be creeped out by it if you had actually grown up riding Tales of the Okefenokee, though. Personally, if I had to say I were "unnerved" by any of the animated figures, I would probably opt for one of the rabbits as opposed to something like the bullfrog, which is mostly just a static fiberglass model bearing a pretty inoffensive design.

    Gee, I wonder how large the two frogs are. The differences in the size makes the one on the left look like a bull frog. Plus, I wonder the sizes in these frogs would help give an idea on how large the figures were on the ride.

    • @okefenokee_rabbit
      @okefenokee_rabbit  3 года назад +4

      The bullfrog is actually the only surviving figure from the 1967 ride, and its massive size is pretty ironic considering that all the other '67 figures were tiny.

    I found a image from the older version of the ride and there was a similar large bullfrog in it. I wonder if the frog remained the same as when the ride got redesigned?

    • @okefenokee_rabbit
      @okefenokee_rabbit  4 года назад

      Yeah, the animated 1967 frog was inside the ride throughout its entire fourteen-year lifespan; that's why it was able to be salvaged in the first place. Also, can you post a link to the picture you're talking about? I might not have seen it.

      @@nobodyjustme2208 Oh yeah, that was one of the many photos Tim Hollis sent me. The vast majority of Okee photos that have turned up online since 2019 were sent to me by him; I have all of them in the "rare images" folder accessible via the descriptions of several of my videos.

    4 questions for you.
    1. Whats with the voice saying frogs around 1:21? And can you somehow get Tim to send the audio with the speaking before the audio plays like in this and MellowTorch's video?
    2. Where did the second frog appear in the ride?
    3. Any remaining animatronics or props of the 67 version besides the frogs and Mr. Bear that I saw in the pictures folder?
    4. Found someone with or found a version online the Mysteries and Magic documentary?

      what pictures folder are you talking about?

    • @okefenokee_rabbit
      @okefenokee_rabbit  5 лет назад +1

      1. I'm not sure who that is, but I would imagine it's either Rick Boozer (the guy who created copies of all the source audio reels for Tim back in 1985) or whoever converted them all to digital around 2000. Whoever he is, he kind of stutters over several of his introduction statements, which leads me to believe he may have suffered a stroke at some point. He doesn't say anything aside from just the name of each reel, but if you really want to hear them, here they are: jumpshare.com/b/0YSYqFlZlpstJJDYxNsv
      I've left out files that don't include an introduction statement, and I've thrown in the official Monster Mansion audio as well, just because I've been neglecting it for so many months.
      2. I believe it would have been positioned on Mr. Bear's left shoulder in the frog pond, although it's kind of hard to determine seeing as there were most likely multiple frogs created from that particular mold.
      3. There doesn't seem to be anything else as far as I'm aware.
      4. I haven't come up with anything so far.

      I use an online service to host Okefenokee content that wouldn't otherwise be online (or is simply not easily accessible) via a handful of folders, this being my main "rare images" folder: jumpshare.com/b/6MzS8DeL80qN4TREpyfq
      The folder containing the source audio and the folder containing rare images are both linked in the description of my initial source audio upload.
