McDonalds called out order 867 and I yelled 5309. Nobody laughed. Then I felt old and ate my burger in the playground area
Lol!!!
Brother I laughed.. you missed it
Dude...I am laughing from Japan don't worry. 8675309😂😂😂😂😂
So good. you got it.
😂
To be in your 20s in the 80s best life ever.Great song
Like the solo in this one
I was and it is 🎉
Yeah, this show was actually from 1982. I was in college.
I was just starting my teens, pretty great time to growing up.
IT SURE WAS!!! YEAH!!! 😃
Very rare for a pop song to be this good, solid, guitar...fucking killer track, 35 years later...
All the songs on this album were fantastic. If you haven't already got a copy, get yourself a cd. I have a vinyl and I recently got a cd for my car!
I agree. I think that these guys would have gone far if they weren’t so spectacularly dorky.
@@SuperPussyFinger Their whole album was good. Tommy reminded me of Mark Knopfler.
@@donnahilton471 Their 1st album is good, too
Always room in the world for a classic 3 chord tune, although they are deceptively difficult to pull off.....Jessies Girl another gem in this arena
An example of true musicians. They sounds BETTER live than they do on record. Long live this song and the band!
blarson12 the band is called Tommy Tutone
so does Stevie Ray Vaughan to my mind
They are tight here.
Nah, not even here for the hype about this song. It sounds fucking terrible live, the guitar is grating and sounds out of tune..
The song is shit, it's just catchy because of the phone number and that was the whole joke of it.
They were too late to be punk and Brit Pop was dominating the 80s/90s
I'm not even mad, it just sounds awful and that's not due to is being a recording of a VHS/Betamax
@@StuartMawdsley You must be a lot of fun at parties.
Those were the days when people wrote great songs, could sing and play instruments.!!!!
It's still happening - check out The Warning, a power trio from Mexico - the Villarreal sisters have been playing and recording since childhood and recentlly completed the European leg of their current tour - ruclips.net/video/BfnzkWRlFSU/видео.htmlfeature=shared
This live performance is KILLER!
Power of music is real, people. The number is blocked in every state of US
It wasn't when the song first came out.... I called it & the older woman I spoke to wasn't amused one bit that her number was ringing day & night. ... I called from a California land line at that time..
alberto soto
Yeah they even got sued over it.
It s not blocked here, it goes to the pawn shop!
I tried calling it from work one day with a 703 area code and it was blocked. I put it on speaker and we had a good laugh about it.
a plumbing company bought this number in several states in the us, in many area codes it still worth millions
This song is just hook after hook, great power chords, and great live
And the dynamic chemistry between the band members was just freakin awesome!!
What's ironic is that they didn't have the best singing voices in the world on this song, but it WORKED and they both made the song sound great! The chemistry between these two proved that.
loved this one. GREGG SUTTON joining in here with Tommy
I was 21 in 1983. Sung this in the car 1 million times. Lol.
I miss the 80's
You're not really missing the 80's. You're missing your youth.😢
They really nailed it live ! Pure energy , NO Autotune ! That's what live music is about !
"NO Autotune" Who would have thought. It was 1983 spacca.
Love this song I'am an 80's girl And my name is Jenny. :)
Lmao If your from the 80s your not a girl no more
Byron Currie you are right i'am a women LOL I will be 43 on August 17th.
I bet the boys sang this to you!
43 eh?...Well young lady, you march yourself to your room now. This is not suitable material for a 10 yr old lil Girl..LOL .I see you be likin ya some Alllman Bros as well..Rock ON!
JOHN KUHN MUSIC LOL
I was in the Army with a dude from Cali who was a great guitarist who had played in bands before he enlisted back in the mid eighties. He told me that opening for these guys was his proudest achievement as a musician. Hope you are doing well C.P.
Great
When my house caught on fire I couldn’t remember 911 but this number popped into my head. My family ended up dying but this song is still dope.
Damn it..
Stolen comment
Lmfao 😂..
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
This song went berserk in Australia when it was released..such a great tune..
For a ‘one-hit wonder’ to rock the entire globe is very badass in itself!
Yes. Play That Funky Music comes to mind also.
This song will never get old, sounds as good today as it did over 30 years ago, thank you for posting this classic live version of this musical gem!!
They might be one hit, but this was one good hit!
A fantastic song executed outstandingly here -- truly one of the most memorable hits of the 80s
Ok, truth be told, I was so over this song back then,-talk about radio overkill, but seriously, what a great song. So glad when this comes on the radio these days!
This drummer is just killing it. Incredible
That is John Cowsill from the Cowsill family. He also played with the Beach Boys
I was in cover rock bands In the 70s and 80s playing bass. (70 years old now)
As you can see, these guys are having so much fun. When everything goes right, and your hard rehearsals pay off, this is what happens. I feel so lucky that I got to do this. To get 4 or 5 guys together in the moment is wonderful to experience.
Sweet Fender goodness.
Dual solos are sick
That's some fine and timeless lead guitar playing by Jim Keller. It sounds as good today as it did back in the early 80s.
Everything needs to be right, and the song just has a life of it's own ... that's what you pray for, and you know... then it's born ..
I Love that song
This is the best version of this song. I love the instrumental guitar bridge in the middle. The guys really seem be having fun!
I booked Tommy Tutone into The Palms Cafe in San Francisco back in late 1980 where (I think) they played 'Jenny' for the first time in public. Got chills when I heard it. Great song. TT was an awesome live act, too. I fully expected them to carry on cranking out hits. Pity it didn't turn out that way.
I am grateful that there are guys like you on here sharing memories. It makes me feel human
You sing it Tommy!!!!!!!!!! This is my ringtone and every time I'm out and my phone rings I let it play. Everyone around starts smiling. Everyone knows this song and loves it.
Mine too 🎉
this song isnt even from my generation and it still kicks ass
lol that because every song before your generation kicks more ass foo
Impossible not to sing along with this one.
Pretty cool when a band strikes gold with that one song that EVERYONE remembers.
40 years later and I still love this song. I was 22 years old when this song was released. It was released in 1981.
Me, too! I was 21 or 22, I *think*.
I was eighteen - sixty soon!
I was 22 also - great classic guitar riff!
Damn some old people over here
I was 14 at the time. Loved the whole album. It was well written and well-played, unfortunately only this one made superstar level of sales.
Over the years I keep a list of 50 songs to play forever if stranded on a deserted island. This is the only one that always makes the list.
I’ve been a music freak since the 1960’s and very few bands, regardless of their “fame and notoriety,” are as good live as they are in the studio. This is one that is.
Threat Dynamics I’m 13 years old and I freakin love this song I like older music more than new music most music made after 2010 is not worth listening to
@@bigbird8592 there are some but a lot of them will be forgotten in the future and two generations ahead will love 2010s music
For sure!
Rush
Al's Band, maybe?
I've always thought Tommy TuTone made this song for me. Thanks Tommy!
Always liked the guitar riffs in this song. This version's guitar solo section was excellent.
this is the perfect rock song in its unadulterated purity
Sometimes the planets and universe align and you get a great pop song like this.
Timeless.💜
Do you like Meliss Manchester music?
one of the coolest songs ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Old school is the best school!
Great live performance and the song still ROCKS !
I have the studio version of this song and finally realized today that this version is a littlle different. This is THE ONLY version of a live song that I can honestly say is better than the studio...the added solo and rhythm parts make this an awesome show to watch....GREAT POST...
Absolutely great, blessed are those generations that had the opportunity to have artists and music of this type, today nothing is the same!!
Man they are TIGHT Live! 🎸💚
Great song, great guitar solo!!!
man, I got this song stuck in my head a few days ago, and it would not go a fukin way, so I dusted off the old Gibson restring her and worked out all parts I never knew. A clever song. I finally got it out of my system. Until probably tomorrow.
+Alfred Senteno It is catchy.
Sometimes you just gotta it out of you dude. Next time it happens, go extra and RUclips it!
Awesome brother!! Good man.. I am still struggling to really learn guitar proper.. since I started on trumpet and then went full on to drums.. now many years later I am slowly making it to where I can actually play guitar. Takes major commitment.. but it is worth it.
Respect 🙏
This is an all time classic. Just has that late seventies, early eighties new wavy/power pop vibe running all through it like the Cars, The Knack, Blondie, etc. Amazing song, and of course the "number" incorporated into it makes it legendary.
Some nice guitar work on this one, awesome.
wow! what a great live version of an 80s classic!
A classic 80's anthem, I love it!!
Best version n usually live clips arent.!!! Needs a ❤LOVE button!!!
The best LIVE performance ever!
I like this one better! The Warning rocks hard! ruclips.net/video/BfnzkWRlFSU/видео.htmlfeature=shared
What a great song - loved it since it came out... nice to see all 5 guys sing. Brilliant. and the croud is just sitting there...
One of the most prolific and iconic songs of all time from the one and only inventive and coolest decade, the 80's. Tommy T still jams this song whenever he goes on tour, his acoustic version kicks arse too. People still dial those legendary digits, and some to this day, still have that number, with someone probably on the receiving end saying, "No, there's no Jenny here, quit calling this number!" :)
Tommy is rocking that telecaster
Tutone was band name; Lead guitarist is Jim Keller, he also co-wrote the song.
This is a perfect example of the strengths between Tele- and Strato- casters
I remember hearing this song on the radio in the early 80's, back when listening to the radio was fun.
Fun fact - that is John Cowsill of The Cowsills (Hair, The Rain, The Park & Other Things) playing drums. He wasn't with Tommy Tutone for long, just during this album and tour. You can also see him in the official video for this song. He's currently out on tour playing drums for the Beach Boys.
Jimbo 0117 nice factoid love it
@Jimb0 he is an unsung hero on the original and in this live performance. Such a driving force and the changes are so tight.
there's nothing like a pair of screaming FENDERS IN UNISON,TOMMY TUTONE ROCKS
I'm 66 years young still rockin years and song still runs through my mind
CLASSIC !
I hear Ya = lm 65 and l Still see this in # in wierd Places
great guitar on this tune. well spoken, clear, defined, and raw to the bone.
greatest moment of his life and he took the ball for the win...
A.I. should be so lucky to be this great....
This video is a hoot. They are having a ball. The song is great and I can't stop playing it.
looks like my dad n friends in the '80's
I'm so happy that this isn't just a miming of the studio recording.
I remember when I first heard this when I was a senior in high school. I woke up to that guitar intro and thought it was the greatest. I had to learn it. To this day I still love and play it!
Without a doubt my ALL-TIME FAVE one-hit wonder/song.
Not just a one hit wonder. Their WHOLE second album was fantastic!
I gotta agree Donna, my fave also
one hit wonder or not 867-5309 put Tommy Tutone on the map forever what a awesome song once I hear it I can't stop listening to it
A CLASSIC SONG!!!!!
Thanks for this great track Tommy Tutone👍.
That was goddamned spectacular. The guitar jam in the middle was unexpected and powerful.
This has got to be one of the best pop songs ever. Thanks for posting it.
I saw them live in western New York! Great concert!,
I think the best rendition of this one hit wonder by Tommy Tutone was this live concert. These guys are set for life
One of the best 80s 1 hit wonder songs 🤩
One of the best 1 hit wonder songs 🤘
So much better than 90% of modern songs
I agree. In times when music was actually artistic. It's not so much anymore.
I disagree but we all have our own opinions
+291xMac What the fuck is wrong with you
I like older music... I personally don't like pop and rap or hip hop
💯
This song is legend in the annals of American music.
Tommy Heath still rocks @ 76 years young!!! Would love to see u headline next time!
Great song and a lot of energy. I saw them open for ZZ Top in Phoenix and they put on a good show
Timeless classic.
This song in my playlist ever!!
Excellent performance and great talent 👏 👍
This is one of the most fun songs of my youth in Canada, that started in 1952. Still love it
Me too, just celebrated 70 years in December. growing up in Etobicoke and Mississauga in the 60's and 70's was a blast. The kids today will never know the freedom we enjoyed.
@@robertorrom8712 i've been wanting to visit canada so much lately. y'all might have just given me a new goal (28 year old here). maybe.. 🤔
No song from the 80's makes me happier then this. Love it!
I played this in an old cover band. Lotsa fun, every audience sings along. I like the extra bridge they added to this live version.
Astonishing! What a live performance.
Your classic working type of band form that era.. this is a perfectly written song, from verse to pre-chorus to chorus to bridge.. harmonies are brilliant
This song was a big hit during my last year of high school. It has always been a favorite of mine.
80's were the Best... Brings back Good Memories !!
2022: The added guitar bridge, with the "Live" version, makes a good one-hit wonder into goddamn amazing
Rock and roll masterpieceeee
I'm 17 and 70's and 80's is where it's all at. Love this. Wish I could take my junior year to 1982 how awesome would it be
munchner freiheit
In 1982 I was a senior in high school when this song came out. Those were awesome days and the music truly kicked ass.
Michael Kowell all it will get you is old like me, I'm 50 now and remember this all too well
It would be awesome believe me, although you cannot believe how huge the difference in life pre mobile phone and internet!
Your time will come friend. Back in 1984 when I was total punk rocker
.I used to moan about being too young and missing Sex Pistols. Later it was worse cause I wanted to know Jim Morrison!! Lol.. we all go through it!!
one of the few songs better in the live version..when this song comes on the radio I cant help but yearn for that awesome solo he plays here...
I have remembered this phone # since this song came out, and sometimes I can't remember what I did 30 minutes ago! Just joking, although it could be true for I am 77 years young! Just love this song for many years!!!!
hope ur still kickin!
Just one of those songs that really gets my feet moving. One of my favorite all time tunes. It's so simple but it just never gets old. And this song was played on the radio over and over and over. It never got worn out with me.
love love love love this tune & the 80'S !!
This album was dope. I love his voice.
The 80's were amazing.
One Super Cool song 🎵 back in 1983. 867 5309
Reminds me of the Romantics
Long Live The 80's. That Was The Best Time For Music IMO.
I saw these guys one time in the early 80’s. still the best show I have ever seen.
Never knew these guys did this live, but I remember it like it was yesterday. Great musicians.
I never forget this song. A legendary in my books .867 5309 jenny.great band.
Awesome version..and really being totally performed live! Good o'l Jenny!
Never grow tired of this song. I could remember the number 867 5309 better than the Mrs's birthday
One of my 80s favs, that's for sure. One of those I forever get hooked on, and I have to rip myself away. It's too bad it didn't work out for this band. Great performers, vocals, vibe, talent. It's kind of sad. All this other worthless stuff called 'entertainment', and these guys went away fast. Man...I wouldn't care if they had other song writers. Big acts/big names have always done other peoples' songs. I just wanna hear them perform.
I agree! This whole album was great. What a shame they weren't around longer.
