"867-5309/Jenny" Tommy Tutone live on the TV show "Fridays" in 1983 Tommy Heath-Lead Vocal and Guitar Jim Keller-Lead Guitar and Vocals Steve LeGassick- Keyboards Gregg Sutton- Bass Jerry Angel- Drums
The intro sounds very similar to ‘Message In A Bottle’
It is a catchy 🎶 ❤
this is the best live version , love that simple but catchy guitar solo at 2:45 , lots of cool tempo changes throughout and it just rocks
Cool song. I love how the camera pans from behind the band to the front. The band is pretty good, except the bass player always screws up when he has to sing -- but hey, this is LIVE music! It's also awesome how the lead guitar player drops out on the 2nd verse. Pretty dramatic!
Great song. Bad mix: The rhythm guitar (played by singer) is WAY too loud. It also has harsh slightly distorted sound that just makes an already noisy mix worse. The bass is too soft. The drums need equalization (they're too bassy and muddy which makes them hard to hear).
Thanks for not cutting this jewel.
3:24 😂
I'm here because someone did not laugh at a joke at McDonald's on someone else's joke....
Great song!
The way he made this song abt my mom… im being so fr
I swear he’s saying “ Johnny”. 🤔
Astonishing! What a live performance.
" I WANT MY MTV " ❗🍺👍
When I got hired by the phone company I tried area codes to make this combo work
I'm here becoz of a video I saw on Tiktok 😂
I'm so happy that this isn't just a miming of the studio recording.
Who came here after watching the reel?
I thought the audience were cardboard cutouts.
I thought 8675309 was from some furniture store commercial lol
I’m here after watching the professor of rock!
This song will never get old, sounds as good today as it did over 30 years ago, thank you for posting this classic live version of this musical gem!!
The bassist channeling The Clash with the camo..
this song makes me want to go 20 dollars into debt
But no one answers??
This song has not aged a bit and no one can perform live like this anymore except the Stones.......
Who is here after hearing Megamind's password?
I was 22 in '83. Our band covered all these songs, and Jenny was a favorite. They don't write em like that anymore...LOL😅
They did really good here. Not so much a blast show, but the musicianship was spot-on. Sad, they wore the same video clothes. Never go full video.
Poor Jenny!!! Now all the idiots in the town know her number!!
I still call this number every few months and ask for Jenny. Piss on that restraining order.

Jenny gave me the worse dose of the clap!
I remember when I first heard this when I was a senior in high school. I woke up to that guitar intro and thought it was the greatest. I had to learn it. To this day I still love and play it!
The first girl I ever french kissed and finger banged was named Jenny.
Awkward, self-conscious body movements. Is it the producer's fault?
867-5309 jenny❤
happy birthday tommy heath! this was his first top 40 ever!
Awesome live version, Jenny 💯
Saw them open for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers at Pine Knob, maybe 1980 or 1981. I couldn't drive yet but my buddy had just gotten his license. We scrounged up enough cash for lawn tickets back when lawn meant anything goes. The folks next to us had a couple huge coleman coolers and were sneaking beers to us for $1 each whenever security wasn't roaming around. It was an awesome show.
One Super Cool song 🎵 back in 1983. 867 5309
This song wouldn't work today with the area code 😅
The delivery is so dialed.....the whole track is so hooky .
I still give it out as mine. Lol. Area code 555. 😅
I see IWillDominate was a bass player in the 80's that's cool.
Loads of Americans in a Jacksepticeye let's play were going mental because Sean, an Irish man in his 30s, hadn't heard this song. I, an English man in his 30s, also hadn't heard of this song. Its pretty good. Reminds me of blue oyster cult.
I saw these guys in Santa Cruz California on what I believe was this tour. I don’t remember a lot of from those times but one odd thing that stands out in my memory was the “surf nude” sticker on the back of his guitar. Good times, ohh how great the good old days were and oh how far we’ve come.
"Damn you Tommy Tu Tone" Stewie Griffin
That was excellent! This song needs a guitar solo!
If you want to know what the 80s were like, the song is a strong artifact. Amazing live performance of a classic by Tommy TuTone, and I guarantee you will not have to text the song's title to remember it😊
Is it live? Or is it Memorex? 😅
