    Lovely review David & beautiful images at the end too. i shoot Sony for my weddings which I love but for street & everyday life they dont inspire me, I used to have an x100f but sold it to push cash towards an Xpan...I think its time to return to Fuji. Whats the sensor performance like compared tot he x100f? Like that tune too :}

      Thank you so much James! Ah! 90% of all my mates shoot Sony for weddings too but yeah, while I know they are pretty incredible bits of tech, they wouldn't inspire me or give me that little bit of joy that the xpro or x100 do. The sensor is great in the xpro3. It definitely seems that there is a little bit more room for play in the raw files, especially in highlight recovery although nothing to mental that it'll make things look HDR-y. I just headed over to your channel and watched your Xpan at Venice Beach video and I have to say its gorgeous! (I want one!) Keep up the great work and I'll do by regularly to see what's on store. Great work James.

      @@DavidMcClellandPhotography Thanks David. I'm likely going to leave it a couple of months before I take the plunge with the xpro-3 + i'll team it up with the 23mm 1.4 - it will be good to have as a back up in the car if anything does happen to the Sonys on a wedding day. Thanks for watching the Xpan video, i'm working hard on getting more natural behind the camera and will be sharing a collection of videos from a recent trip i took to New England which I shot on the Pentax 67. I'll subscribe to your channel now too, have a good rest of the weekend.

      I’m feeling the same way. Starting in 2012 I’ve shot xpro1, xe2, xe1, xt1, and xpro1 again. All the while switching to canon, Nikon, back to Sony etc in between. Been on the a7iii since it’s launch and while it’s a very capable camera and amazing, it doesn’t inspire me to pick it up unless I need it for a shoot. Now that Fuji AF is up for my needs starting with the xt3, I’ve decided it’s time to come back to Fuji once and for all. It’s capable for professional jobs but also a joy to pick up and use for personal work so it feels like it’ll be the all in one I’ve been searching for. My main decision now is do I also get rid of the x100f for 23 f2 or f1.4? Tough decision

    I love all of the xpro3 lovers.... they really enjoy the camera. I use an xt-3...i carry it everywhere...i call it my smartphone with a great camera but lousy cell survice.
    I looked thru the x-pro3 and the viewfinder was much larger than I thought. But I’m an evf guy, not a OVF guy... blame it on my age!
    Real love that fuji is having a lot of fun with their cameras. The xt-2 to x-t3 emphasized speed over specs and I thanked them 1,399 times...

    Hey, thank you for an awesome review. I also moved from a Nikon DSLR into Fujifilm. I now own an X-T3 and a couple of primes. I fell in love with it and already think of getting either a X100V or an X-Pro3 +23mmf2 for all those moments when i don't want to change lenses.
    How would you compare them yourself? which one would be a better one camera +one lens option for fun in your opinion?

    Really liked your review, funny and very good information, thank you!
    Can you tell me how you carry your cameras during a wedding? Straps, holster,..? I think I will get two X-Pro 3s as well, coming from X-T2s with Spider Holster Light Duo belt and I‘m not sure if the Spiders work with the Pro 3s.

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад +2

      Hi Roman, thanks for the comment.
      Sure - I carry one X-Pro3 on a peak design leash. To be honest, if I was getting a strap again I'd buy the Slide lite. The clasp just works so much better in my opinion and it's a more comfortable strap. The other X-Pro3 is on my hip using a Spider Holster, Spiderlight. It's brilliant. I've used it for a couple of years now and can't fault it at all.

    • @romanpfeiffer851
      @romanpfeiffer851 4 года назад

      @@DavidMcClellandPhotography Thank you, David. I also used Spider light Holster for my X-T2s on a belt - left and right. I really liked it. I had some issues with my X-Pro3s and the Spider light setup. You can´t tilt the screen down the whole way (not good for high angle shots) and the Spider light strap doesn´t fit for me on the Pro3.
      My solution so far: I bought 2 JJC-handgrips for the X-Pro3s and attached a simple Spider Holster Pin on each bottom plate. Now i can use a tripod (JJC-Grip is Acra-compatible), I can tilt the screen all the way down and i can use the Peak Design anchors on the right bottom of the grip, so it doesn´t bother me an my index finger :) Using the Peak Design cuff, but - to be honest - I often "forget" to secure the cam and I´m just holding it. :)

    Great video David! so informative too!!! In all the reviews I've watched on the XPro3 so far, when they refer to the touch screen, other reviews have been very brief, but your review of the touch screen was the best so far David!
    "So in effect the touch screen has a similar functionality, like on the old Olympus OMD EM5 cameras then David?, touch to focus just!!! or then touch to focus and shoot all in one fail swoop!!!"
    I noticed you are left eye dominant David! am I correct? if so I guess there is no problem with your nose touching the small info screen on the back of the camera when using your left eye then David? or is that how you got the small cut on the end of your nose David? ; - ) This was one of my concerns David, because I am left eye dominant, or though I have tried to use both eyes over time with the rangefinder style cameras. Yes hopefully I am planning to get the Xpro3 later on in the year, when all the bugs have been ironed out with various firmware updates! yes I like your dry humour too David! your a very funny guy, you make me smile, with you, not at you of course! and nice photos also David.

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад +2

      What a fantastic comment. Thank you so much!
      Yeah, the touch screen has adjustable settings. From autofocusing to shooting with just one press. Very much like the OMD EM5 (A camera I used to own and love!)
      Yeah, I'm left eye dominant and no problems with the nose on the screen. It's not how I cut it but I found that funny. The cut from from a very excited daughter seeing her daddy in the morning. Hows's that for a welcome to your day!? :)
      I can safely there, there doesn't appear to be any bugs at all so far so you should be good. They've even released a firmware already although I didn't download as the improvements weren't applicable to me and I didn't want to risk making things worse!
      Thanks for the comments on the nice photos. That's very kind of you and thanks for watching!

    Hi David! Good to see you on RUclips! Donavan Freberg here, your IG pal from Los Angeles.
    I have a question for you about the XPRO3.
    As you might remember, I shoot headshots and portraits, in my home studio and in natural light. I have an XT3 and a x100V, and I’ve fallen in love with the rangefinder style of the X100. So much so that I’m considering selling the XT3 to get the XPRO3. I’d love your thoughts on that. I actually love the idea of the “hidden” LCD, and I love the connection with my subject when I look through a rangefinder style camera. It’s just intimate and I can feel the camera get out of the way. It feels natural.
    I should mention that I have no problem with the XT3, it’s great and reminds me of the old Nikon FE that I trained on as a teen. I just feel a deep connection to rangefinder style. I trained on film, shooting since I was 13. I’m 51 and feel like the XPRO is calling to me, but unsure how it is for professional portraits.
    Would you feel confident to have the XPRO as a main portrait and studio camera?
    I also occasionally shoot family portraits, engagement sessions and once in a while, a small wedding. I’d love your thoughts! Hope you have been well, my friend!

    Can u please tell me the most important Af-C settings for weddings. How can u handle it, to get the camera focusing. I have problems on the reliability of the AFC with the X-Pro3 and the 18mm 1.4 🤷🏻‍♂️. I just don’t get it, I get 5 of 10 images out of focus, even when the subject is not moving or just a little 🙍🏻‍♂️😔

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  Год назад

      To be honest, the only times I ever used to use AF-C at weddings is when the couple are coming down the aisle after the ceremony or if they are maybe running through sparklers or confetti for example. Most of the time though I was an AFS shooter I would definitely recommend that setting, especially if you're taking images of things that aren't moving because I tend to find that the AFC means that the camera is always hunting.

    Great video. I too went for the black for the same reasons as you 🤣 far too impatient to wait! I’ve switched from the X-T2/3 to this and one feature doesn’t appear to have made its way over but perhaps I’m not setting up the camera correctly. I used to set the ISO dial to A and then assign the rear command dial to adjust the ISO and it would cycle through ISO L to ISO H and then my three auto ISO options. With the X-Pro line it appears that to have the Auto mode you have to keep the dial on A and if you want to enable to rear command dial you need to switch the ISO dial to C but you can then only use the command dial to go from L to H and you can’t select the Auto options. So a little less functionality. Is this right? I loved being able to fully select the ISO using the rear command dial including the Auto options.

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад

      Hi Sebastian, Thanks so much for your comment. Like you, I use the Auto ISO functions however I never used them in the way you had setup with the X-T2/3 cameras you had, maybe that's because I wonder if that function also didn't apply to the X-Pro2 that I had before. What I used to have on the X-Pro2 was one of the D-Pad buttons set to the Auto ISO function but now I set it to the AE-L/AF-L to access those options. It's not the solution you were hoping for but I have sat here for the last 10-15 minutes trying to figure out if there is a way to do what your looking for but I can't seem to find it I'm afraid. If you do ever work it out I'd love to know though. Maybe someone else in the comments may be able to help? Thanks again for watching!

    • @JochenStrobel
      @JochenStrobel 3 года назад

      Hi Sebastian, I totally agree, I can't understand why the X-t3 has a) a front dial which can function as a button and b) why you can cycle to all ISO + Auto ISO with a command dial on the X-t3 but not on the X-Pro3 where you have to sacrifice a button for choosing one of the three Auto ISO presets. Such a shame.

    Hey David. You rock. Thanks for the review. Do you shoot via the LCD often during a wedding? I kind of do and am wondering how awkward it is with the x-pro3. It seems the screen is the right amount of moveable. I hear all this purists talk about not chimping and looking through the viewfinder for EVERY photo. The emergence of mirrorless and responsive live view allows the camera to get closer to your subject and the photographer to find more unique perspectives and compositions, especially for street and wedding photography. Not sure it matters how you were holding your camera when you took the photo.

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад

      Gosh Josh! That's awful kind of you. I've seen your work so I know that you too rock - I'd easily argue that you rock much harder that I do :)
      You know what, I rarely ever used the LCD with the X-Pro2. I find that I'm using it all the time now! What on earth is that about?! The fact that you can just flip it down and discreetly pap off some nice little candids is a real joy. I used to do this when I shot with the X-T1 and X-T2 but it feels waaaay better on this for some reason, maybe because the viewfinder doesn't protrude out from the back of the camera so therefore when looking straight down you can seen the entire LCD? Anyway - I'm all about using whatever method works best for the situation. One of my fav street photography images was shot with the X100F (or may have been the T) over my shoulder while I looked at the camera through the app... Sneaky but it worked!

    Been considering a jump from D750 to fuji for a while... Obviously the xpro3 will be better than thr xpro2, but for making that initial switch do you think the xpro3 is a must have? Or would it now be a good opportunity to get a great deal on an xpro2, and would an xpro2 be good enough?
    Also, what software are you using for your video editing?

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад +1

      Well funny you say that Connor because it was the D750 I switched from years ago to the X-Pro2. In fact, I even did a very small mini review at the very bottom of the wedding I blogged at the time. It's still online at davidmcclelland-photography.com/xpro-2-wedding-ghotel/
      I also shot that entire wedding in jpeg as a test at the time.
      So, anyway, I was very positive about the switch and have never looked back and that's coming from someone who really loved the D750 it has to be said. For sure there is a learning period but it's a very fun time and and to be embraced.
      As for the main differences, it has to be said that the autofocus is incredible on the X-Pro3. It wasn't bad on the X-Pro2 it had to be said but in lower light it did struggle at times. Also I'm now loving the shooting from the hip with the tilt screen which you'll be all to familiar with with the D750 of course.

      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад +1

      Hi Elias, Thank you so much, I appreciate that. I've actually never had a problem with the grip on the either the X-Pro2 or X-Pro3 to be honest so never suffered from any sore fingers or stiff hands after a full days shooting.
      As far as lenses go I use the following.
      14mm 2.8
      23mm F2
      35mm F2
      56mm 1.2
      I did trial the 18mm F2 a while ago and I did enjoy shooting with it but I was shooting with the X100F and X-Pro2 side by side at the time and I had no real need for it but now that I have two X-Pro3's I'd be tempted to re-purchase it.

      David McClelland thanks for your reply and honesty! I would love some feedback on the 14mm f2.8 I have the 16mm f1.4 but sometimes its not wide enough, how does it rate compared to your other primes? Sorry for asking another question.

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад

      @@eliaspap8708 No problem. Ask as many questions as you'd like. The 14m definitely wouldn't up there with the 16 1.4 in terms of image quality but yes, it is that little bit wider. To be honest, I use it primarily for the dance part of the wedding as it allows me to shoot nice and close to people. I also like to using it during the receiving line part of the day as again, you can get some really nice and intimate shots when shooting tight.
      As the other primes are F2 or F1.2 they are my preferred options of low light conditions.

    What can you say about reliability when working in difficult conditions? I have x-e3 (I really like the camera), it seems to me that it is very delicate, I'm afraid to damage it all the time (in principle, I handle my cameras carefully, but the feeling of insecurity (materials, assembly) from my other camera is Nikon d610 does not occur).
    And yet, is there any data on the guaranteed amount of shutter release?
    I would like to completely switch to Fuji, I really like x-pro3, but some things stop.

      In my opinion Fujifilm cameras are really robust and well built. I've never had a problem. I actually dropped my X-Pro3 at the very first wedding I shot on a marble floor and there wasn't a scratch. (I totally forgot to mention that fact in the review). I only owned the X-E3 briefly but I will say that I thought it seemed just as solid as any other fujifilm camera I've used.

    I’m not a Pro photographer and trying to choose between the X100V and the X-Pro 3 and would to know about the view finder on the X-Pro 3. Can one choose between an OVF and an EVF and what is their effect with different lenses?

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад

      Hi Walter, so sorry for the delay. I disappeared there for a while.
      There is probably a whole entire video on that question alone as it quite a bit topic but here is a simple answer that I hope helps you out.
      To choose between those two cameras I would ask, am I happy just having one focal length. If so, get the X100V. It's an amazing camera and I think for any keen enthusiast it'd be a camera that'll bring years of happiness.
      If you need various focal lengths then you will not be disappointed with the X-Pro3.
      As regards the EVF and OVF. Both cameras have the ability to switch between them. My preference has always been the EVF. I've tried the OVF many times but always come back. Seeing exactly how the image will turn out is way to much of a draw for me and allows me to work faster and not chimp later.
      I hope that helps Walter.

      For me the rangefinder style body of the X-Pro or X100 will always win out but I have to say the X-H1 was a very nice camera in the hand and the viewfinder was incredible.
      The X-H1 was traded back against an X-Pro2 for me because it kept doing a factory reset at the worst possible moment. I loved it as a camera I have to say, no quibbles with it from that regard but I just couldn't fully trust it for wedding work :(
      Handling though... X-Pro everytime. It's lighter and more compact.

  • @garyrobinson3

    I'm also happy with the XPRO3. I don't miss the ever-present rear LCD as much as I thought I would, but I'm still trying to decide if I should keep the XPRO3 or the XT3 (I have both, and they're well within the return window). I'm surprised to see that you chose the XPRO3 as a wedding photographer, instead of the XT3. Was there any particular reason that you chose the XPRO3 instead? Personally, I will most likely be using the camera to document my growing family (2 young kids) through mostly photography. I don't have a lot of time to edit videos, but I will definitely take advantage of video capabilities here and there. Photography is my main interest, but the techy side of me has an issue with choosing a device that's considerably more expensive (XPRO3), reduced usability with the lack of custom buttons and physical dials, and the handicapped video features (mainly the lack of 4k 60p). Is there any advice that you can offer to make this decision any easier for me? Thanks for the video!

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад +3

      Hey Gary! Thanks for such a great comment. Glad to hear that you're enjoying the X-Pro3 and that the hidden LCD isn't an issue. I do feel that the initial reviews before this camera were released were a little harsh but when you get your hands on this thing the story changes a little. It's a joy to use.
      As to why I use this over say one of the X-T series cameras? Well, aside form dslr's in the past I have also shot with the X-T1, X-T2 and even the X-H1 at weddings but I was always drawn back to the X-Pro and I think it's mainly to do with ergonomics. I just love that rangefinger style body and it just felt better and neater in my hands and also felt a little bit more discrete. This next bit may sounds silly, but I also feel that wedding guests feel less threatened by something that they are quite sure off, rather than a typical wedding photographers camera. It's a bit less in your face isn't it? Of course, that's just a feeling I get, no real hard evidence there.
      So, for me, the joy of shooting is just heightened with the x-pro. It's a camera I LOVE to use - much in the same way the X100 is (Will probably always be my fav camera body). Not sure that helps but I'd say if video is a big part of what you plan to use the camera for, then yeah, maybe the X-T3 maybe a better choice? Would love to know what you plan to do in the end. Thanks again.

    Great review. Still a bit torn between doubling up on the X-T3 or going for one of each (familiarity vs variety). Some improvements due in X-T3 this month so performance-wise I'm not sure there's much (anything) in it between them. There's also the X100V due in a few months so I may upgrade the F instead. The F is fantastic but it feels quite slow next to the X-T3. Have you gotten rid of the X100F completely? Reckon you'll be lured back by the X100V?

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад +1

      Hey Andrew, thanks for watching! Well, if personal experience is anything to go by, I once shot with an X-Pro2 and an X-T2 for a little while and the number of times I'd lift one of the cameras up to my eye and think that the thing was turned off only to realise pretty quickly that I wasn't looking through the viewfinder basically because they are in different positions. It's amazing what muscle memory does. So I eventually got rid of the X-T and had two X-Pros for a while before then having one x-pro and the x100f.
      I will be tempted by the X-100V for sure but probably not for wedding work as I'm just loving the two X-Pro3's at the minute.

      @@DavidMcClellandPhotography Cool, I hear ya anyway. I've never had that problem switching between the X100F and the X-T3 so I think I'd get used to it with the X-Pro pretty quickly. If it weren't for the X100V coming out soon (which I know I'll want) I'd probably try out a X-T3/X-Pro3 combo for a while and keep the X100F in reserve. Looking forward to seeing what they cram in to the V though.

      Hi Yoann, Thank you for the kind words. Ha, you're right! I did forget to talk about the OVF. Whoops. That's mainly because I never use it. I wish sometimes I was one of those people who did use it but no, the EVF for me is one of the primary reason I switched to mirrorless cameras years ago because of the WYSIWYG side of things these cameras offer. And the best thing about an EVF, you never need to check the screen because when you take the shot you know you've got exactly what you wanted to take - at least from an exposure and framing point of view anyway.

I arrived late because of the "wifey" and her daughter took ages in dressing, make-up... you know those girl's things. I tried not to interfere with the official photographer, so I gave him the best angles and timing... nevertheless I managed to take shots from the signing on... and the "posing" afterwods and the reception... to cut it short: I made some post production work on the shots (my main work was on the gap between the incicive teeth of the bride, some eletricity poles out of their heads and those gremlins poking their stupid heads and smiling trying to get in every shot... Well, I gave them the files, and when they sent them (along with the "pro" files to a video company to make a CD with combined photos of all the event, they called back to ask if there was not a mislabelling of the files... because my shots were much better then the pros'!
      But let me know what do you like best and I can process a dozen files from the GFX and post them were you could acess them.
      Meanwhile, if you are curious, I was interviewed for Thorsten Overgard a couple of years ago... but the shots werenot taken with GFX of course. If you go to his page, go to the bottom where it says Leica Photographers, and along with Henri Cartier Bresson is jose galhoz... click on the name and you will be directed to the interview and the photos... enjoy!

    I'm in the midst of my X-Pro3 buying decision - presently using an X-H1 (for the past couple of years). Now I'm thinking it's a good limitation - I just need to set up my user profiles, which I haven't been using, to my preferred and most frequent settings. This leaves me with only one remaining decision - Black or Dura Black?

      Hello Peter! A fellow McClelland! I have family in Toronto - I wonder are we related? :)
      On the lack of buttons to customise I can only speak from my own experience but I can safely say that everything I needed (a button metering, focus options, and ISO preferences) have all been assigned to buttons within reach so there's been no problem at all. Of course there is a small transition period but when you use a camera plenty, your fingers soon start to remember where everything is and you'll forget the D-Pad ever existed.
      oh.. Black. All the way! :)

    I like the idea of of the Pro3 but I the 100V is a more complete “kit” in many regards.
    1) Sharper 35mm F2
    2) Leaf Shutter and all the advantages that comes with it
    3) Built in flash (decent for fill, great as a trigger)
    4) Built in ND filter
    5) Smaller and lighter
    If you’re in the Fuji system with multiple bodies and lenses it’s hard to justify the Pro3 practically.

    I think they missed a trick with the rear screen. They should have 'borrowed' the way the rear screen on the Epson R D 1 rotates. Can either have the screen hidden or not, best of both worlds and doesnt alienate the people that want the screen

      Hi Ed, I switched things up quite a bit over the last while. I actually owned and used the Leica Q2 exclusively for about 10-12 weddings last year and loved it but needed to sell it and hold onto my Fuji gear for other work besides weddings. So when I sold it I used the opportunity to upgrade a few lenses. I got rid of all my F2 lenses (which to be honest - there wasn't a whole lot wrong with) and now shoot with the following.
      At the minute I have the 14 2.8, then the new lenses are...18mm 1.4 LM, 23 1.4 LM, 33 1.4 LM and the 50 F1.
      At the moment I find myself mainly using the 18mm and 33mm as a combo and loving them.
      Oh. I no longer have an X-Pro3 unfortunately. I now shoot on two X-T4's and some weddings are purely shot on the X100V.

      Hi Aaron, I'm pretty sure it's still rubber (or maybe some kind of rubber/plastic composite), the main difference though is that it's a harder more durable material that can't come detached from the body as it's wrapped around that corner of the camera.

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography
      @DavidMcClellandPhotography  4 года назад

      Hi Thomas, It shouldn't do. It should be on whether the shutter is half pressed or not. Can I ask, what are the lighting conditions your in because I have noticed that in rooms with fluorescent lighting it's very choppy until you half press the shutter but in daylight or other types of lighting it's fine. Let me know what you think.

    • @DavidMcClellandPhotography

      Also... I know you said you have boost on, but do you have Smoothness Priority set in the EVF Performance?

    • @Thomas_Geist
      @Thomas_Geist 4 года назад

      @@DavidMcClellandPhotography Yes I do. I've owned all the X series Fuji cameras over the years so I know how they work. I'm simply trying to find out if Fuji is cutting corners to improve battery life or I just have a bad one. This and the framing lines not returning to the center when the shutter is released LIKE ALL PRIOR X100's AND X-PRO's. The real problem and why this is a problem is that the actual focus point DOES return to the center while the focus box does not. Try it.
      Boost does affect the frame rate. If Boost is turned off then after approx 10 sec the screen reverts to a really slow rate. Looks as low as maybe 20 frames/sec. Hit the shutter release and it comes back. Turn ON Boost and it disables that. I currently have an H1 and T2 and have compared the way they react.
      Now, turn on Boost and Smoothness. Looking through the EVF hold down the shutter button 1/2 way and pan around. Very smooth. While you're panning release the shutter button and see if the screen rate keeps up. It appears to drop down to below 50 frames/sec on mine immediately. With Boost off it remains at the high rate for about 10 sec.
      I suspect Fuji is trying to decrease the battery drain by cutting corners. This is simple math. If the battery is the same but they've put in a faster processor then it is physically impossible to get more shoots per battery unless some other things are cut, like the frame lines going back to center, the EVF frame rates and perhaps other things.
      BTY: Boost mode does improve the T2's EVF frame rate. Fuji led us do believe Boost didn't work without the battery grip.

      @@DavidMcClellandPhotography Thanks, Dave, for replying and taking my question seriously. I'm amazed at how many have replied apparently without a clue what they're talking about.
      You are correct. It shouldn't do that. I'm an engineer and have owned all the X cameras over the years so know what I'm talking about. If you own one, does yours? If so I'm taking it back and re-purchasing a Pro2 which seems a much better camera especially with regard to the OVF performance with its two magnifications. I actually use the OVF so am disappointed.
      Mine behaves this way in low light incandescent. This morning I tested it in daylight. Same thing. I would expect flicker in fluorescent due to the 60 cycle red/blue rate. Nice to see you're thorough however. Hang in there with me Obi Wan since not even Fuji is.
      Here's the test: With the setting in Boost/Smoothness, hold down the shutter release 1/2 way and pan back and forth. While still panning, release the Shutter button and see if the screen refresh rate doesn't drop significantly. Mine does.
      With Boost off, when you do this you will notice that after 10 sec the frame rate drops considerably. Tap the shutter button and the frame fate will return and stay that way for approx 10 sec. It seems to drop all the way down to under 10 frames/sec. Useless, but this is the way all prior X models work and I expect that and because of it alway place my cameras in Boost mode. (Even my T2 which according to Fuji Boost didn't work without the power grip. NOT TRUE.)
      I'm going to call Fuji Support when I get into my office but am not hopeful since they have changed their support to where you have to go through the first two tiers before talking to someone who actually works for Fuji and may understand what you're talking about. The devaluation of their support is very disappointing.
