Like if you wish you loved something as much as George loves hamburgers
You should start putting the recipes in the description. I want to make this shit.
Actually I love something more than George loves hamburgers, my girlfriend!
Dude. It's just sloppy joe with cheese and what ever veggies you want on a bun. You chefs be making street food we been making our whole life's.
I feel personally attacked
Recipe? I kinda have to make this now.
No guests, no glitter, no gimmicks ... just George being himself LOVING hamburgers. Now that's why I LOVE this guy, and why we're all here watching this show.
i aint
Couldn't agree more. Love it
The Issac Asimov look doesn't hurt.
Its so cool how much George legitimately loves burgers and their history.
He is going to bring us World Peace, one burger at a time.
And as a Chef I find it so hilarious as he burns his hands and mouth by not knowing how hot the sh*t is when he touches or eats it fresh off the heat. That's crazy! 😂
I love how he knows exactly what he's doing, but is also kinda clumsy and unorganized at times.
I feel like getting a burger with him, or at least eating a burger while watching the burger show.
Brrrr grrr
In high school I used to get this with fries and a Green River float. Back in the day when it was a dirty, dark hole with almost no customers. It's incredibly nice now!
There was an old drugstore (that sadly closed when our town got hit by Developments in the 90s), where you could get a green river float! Classic.
My bf and I have his book and we’ve hit all the places in Indiana except one. He LOVED the gom
What's a Green River float taste like? I'm picturing a Shamrock shake, but not made from a mysterious bagged liquid
@@mh2120 Like lime Life Savers and vanilla ice cream.
Green River is the best pop ever.
It is not a Burger Session if George hasn't hurt himself.
I've noticed that too, you could make a great montage of George going: ouch, ouch, arrghh, for 10 minutes.
I was about to comment this, classic
George with a lit match is one of the most stressful things I've ever seen.
I think we were all waiting for it to burn his fingers and surprised when it didn't.
As soon as he lit it,I expected disaster.
I had to close my eyes..
I know, I was waiting for the F%CK!!
No it isn't
I never thought I would see Zaharakos on here or, well, anywhere for that matter. I'm from Columbus and this place has a soft place in my heart. As a kid, my grandparents would take me there every year around Christmas time when they would redecorate with all of the old decorations that had been around since the 50s. This was even before the recent renovations where it was restored to what it looks like now. The organ in the back is actually the second one. There were two that were made and when Lou passed away, they auctioned off a lot of what was inside including the organ as it was going to close due to no one else in the family at the time was a part of it. When they decided to renovate it, they found the twin and brought it in.
This and a Green River Float was my go-to order as a kid. It was made in the same foil-covered burger press when Lou would toast it all together. Those are some of the best memories I have with them when they were both around. I've only been in back once after Pap passed away and they had remodeled. We lost my Grandma in April. I might have to go back to Zaharakos now for them when it is decorated again for them.
What a lovely memory, thanks for sharing that!!
George was right - Zaharakos is America.
What's amazing is that even though this man has probably devoured thousands of burgers in his life, but is still visibly excited by each one
I HATE people that HATE other people. The comment I respond to did not spread HATE. That is good. BUT! I get a lot of HATE comments on my amazing videos and I HATE it. Please don't start spreading HATE. Do I have to HATE you too, dear rhea
Definitely takes Warren Zevon to heart. ‘Enjoy every sandwich.’
He an entertainer, that's what they do.
@@Papa-Kev It's clearly more than just trying to be entertaining as this was clearly a life long passion and not the sort of thing you just for the money.
Yeah a pro
Get George on hot ones he's better than most of the 'famous people' - would love to see an episode with him.
I just smoked weed
Definitely. George and Sean Evans have collaborated a few times, and the videos have all been pretty entertaining.
@@americannightmare2109 same bro
He just had Sean on the burger show, and they talked about this a bit. For one, George doesn't think he has the celeb power to be on the show, but more importantly his spice tolerance is really bad. You'd think all those pain receptors would be burnt off by now
I haven't watched Hot Ones in probably 2 years because I just have no idea who any of the people they're interviewing are. If they ran out of real celebrities then they should branch out to people who can actually talk about food
"His name is Chigurh."
"Sugar?"

George is a national treasure, and one day, we all will be eating "George Motz burgers"
pretty sure he makes burgers himself for money. he’s mentioned serving burgers to people at events. i would be honored to eat one of this mans hamburgers.

@@sommelierofstenchi mean, What else should he be doing? Lol
Was I the only person expecting George to burn himself with that match?
I thought he would burn himself withcold milk from the fridge
I would like to petition shortening “hamburger family” to “Hamily” to keep things fun around here
I petition we change it to 'Fam'burger instead of Hamily
When you're here, you're hamily!
Waaay too many petitions these days… it is what it is.😊👍
@@richnegs5828 no, from now on it will forever be known as the dr. Terrence elliot build challenge spectacular
@@alla8226 ….. I’ll get onboard with that!!! ✅
George would be an awesome Hot Ones guest. His reaction to the spiciness would be hilarious, lol. They could even do spicy burger sliders instead of wings if they wanted.
Ok i'll let them know that you said it was ok to do burgers, because the producers of the show could not get a clear answer in relation to that, but thank the lord we have you, amen
"It took me back 120 years" Well you do have that look of an immortal food wizard.
George is so pleasent and genuine, even when he goes off topic I'm happy to just sit and listen.
I can never tell if George is just loving the burger or if he’s burning his mouth while eating it with all the noises and moves he does 😂
The chewing sounds are so fucking gross. He’s ruined these videos for me tbh
I don't put hot sauce in a sloppy Joe mixture...nor cheese...but the slider castle puts cheese on their version of sloppy Joes
@@Weed4daSoul 😖
This wonderful, strange man's genuine love and admiration for American food history warms the cockles of my heart.
When this man says it's a perfect marriage of beef and cheese, you just gotta believe it 💯 percent! Drool worthy! 😍😋
George is such a dork and his enthusiasm is infectious! I love his genuine joy and passion!
This looks painfully good
👍👍👍
Everyone always spams your comments lol
@Dragons & Pigs why are you even here? 😂😂 watch something else, its not that hard
@Dragons & Pigs isnt the channel about eating spicy 'chicken wings'?
George, you are so wholesome and I love these sessions. I am totally going to try to recreate this to the closest degree possible.
We lived in Columbus Indiana for almost 20 years and our family enjoyed many trips to Zaharakos. So glad to see that someone invested and breathed new life into this historic place. ❤❤❤
2:07 to 2:29 Too much memory is reserved for Brr-Grr facts and not enough is left to run basic processes. It is a worthy sacrifice.
The most impressive part of this video is the correct pronunciation of "worcestershire."
Sincerely, Masshole.
Shudder to think if Mr. Motz turned his food enthusiasm for evil:
"Today folks, let's take a look at some great regional potted meats, and then afterwards, let's really dig into some fantastic and unique breakfast cereals. "
As a burger aficionado, this show is delightful!
Honestly this is my favorite RUclips series. Every time there is a new episode I’m eating burgers for dinner the next day I love trying new burgers at home.
My dad grew up going to Zaharakos. I still love to take my kids there! Thanks for showcasing it this week! So cool!
Always a good day to learn about Hamburgers!
Ikr 🤣🤣🤣
I love these videos so much. We learn about history of burgers, see great food being made, and George is funny as hell to deliver it all to us
We have burger Fridays every Friday for the entire summer at our house because of this man. New burger each week! George is an American hero in my opinion. Now I find out that this gem of a "burger" sandwich is just a hop skip and jump from where I live and have never heard of it!?!? Travesty!
I’m from Columbus and this is really badass seeing zaharakos mentioned
Same, I did a double take
Hinkle's is the real Burger from SCI...No Peanut Butter....
I'm the guy that makes the gom for the last 3 years and this is way off.
This is the only show I always look forward to from this channel, nothing against Hot Ones, just love this guy's way of teaching burger history.
Can’t help but to stare at a tumbleweed hanging from the ceiling 🤣
I LOVE your enthusiasm for burgers George! It makes me feel less crazy about my particular burger obsession. 😁
Great episode. Genuine passion on display. George has actually inspired me to cook a number of these burgers
Thank you for the recipe! I have good memories of Zaharakos. Christmas was my favorite time to visit back when it was family owned. I remember sitting in the child sized ice-cream parlor chairs. Been many years now since my last visit. The cheese brr-grr was always my favorite and a dish of home made ice-cream for dessert. It was actually started by two brothers. After the passing of one brother, the other wasn't in such good health himself. Which sadly started the decline as there really wasn't anyone who seemed interested in carrying on the family restaurant. It was one of the last places to actually still mix a soda by hand until the last brother left.
I'd love to hear your opinion of a burger here in my home town in waco Texas. There are only two places I know that make it. It's called a Frisco burger. It's a cheeseburger with chopped white onions and mustard and a thick chilli sauce with sliced and chopped hotdogs mixed into the chilli. The best version of it is at Christy's burgers in waco Texas.
The Frisco Burger name is used all over the USA with many different types, many chain restaurants serve it, Steak N Shake chain makes MANY versions of it, the one you describe was even served for a time before being phased out for a stream lined menu. I think the name Frisco is kind of just used for many types now used with toast vs bun. I'm guessing the original was from San Francisco at one time? Sounds like it could of been.
I'm a New Yorker and that sounds like hamburger heaven, yes please.
My mane George is always burning himself or making a mess in every episode. Straight G
George is a national treasure with all of the knowledge of burgers he has, I swear haha
George !!!!!!!!!!!! forever.
He's so funny and charismatic, I swear. He's nice and chaotic all at the same time!! haha!
George, your channel has inspired me to try your recipes and experience all of the awesome burgers from the past. I also want to thank you for reviewing a classic from my hometown, Power's Burgers. These burgers are a classic Fort Wayne staple staying true to its origins to this day.
George Motz is visual manifestation of beautiful chaotic energy. Keep the episodes coming!
I love how excited he gets I'm exactly the same. I wish this was permanent every week
Just got hooked on these videos. Way to go George! Great content!!
I love Zaharakos and their Gom Brr-Grr. I went to High School in Cbus and the place is a staple local
I've always wanted to try a Sloppy Joes whenever I saw them on the Hunter's canned version
But one from scratch 👌
It’s easy to make just go and try it

I made a few of these years ago for my son, my mother & I. Didn’t realize the origin & found a recipe in a family cook book for “sloppy joe burgers” & made an almost exact rendition of this recipe🤍 this brought me so much joy🤪 will make this again with more knowledge! Love burger scholar sesh!! Keep em coming✅✅✅✅✅
I haven't looked at a burger the same, or made the same old regular burgers since watching George. Keep up the great work!!!!!!
Growing up my family always made spaghetti with ground beef, and I would get “spaghetti sandwiches” with any leftover sauce for my school lunches. They looked just like this (well, redder) and this video makes me feel very nostalgic, thanks!
this is so chaotic, it’s a miracle that he actually finishes with an end product. i love it
The brr grr from my hometown that i still can walk in and get from time to time! A great place!
Every time I watch George’s videos I always get hungry!!! I love em!! Keep the good videos coming bud
I never thought a burger from my own home town would be featured on here. Cheers from Columbus!!
George is the only reason I subscribe to this otherwise vapid channel. His enthusiasm for working class American food staples as well anthropological approach to explaining the origins of these regional beef sandwiches makes for solid edutainment,
I see George in a video and I immediately watch that bad boy. More George!
Thanks for the Zaharakos story...that's pretty darn neato! That Brrr-Grrr looks very rich and toasted white bread makes the perfect bed for it.
George makes the content interesting, but the editor elevates it. Cheers to the editor - excellent job 👏👏
This show has really grown on me and I love it now. I was so wrong to write it off when I first saw it
The name of this sandwich sounds more like a reference to the "Gom Jabbar" from the "Dune" novels...
Hopefully less lethal
I prefer a Gom Cheddar ;)

Hello 👋 how are you doing
I never know what to expect and its always a great episode!
You're really nailing the "guy who just wants to eat a hamburger" schtick.
love your channel man.
After seeing the Black Flag and Grateful Dead stickers, I now want to see an episode where George just goes through his record collection.
Here for this!
LOVE YOU, SO MUCH!...Please never stop teaching me(us).
I have tried at least 50% of the burgers on this show (at home, mostly, or in person).
Have you done a video on the chopped cheese burger? I love learning about burgers from you and the chopped cheese is a local secret even among NYers
I'll take one gom cheese borr gorrrr
He IS an American hero! We need these kind of stories, thanks again for the history :)
I’m watching all the way from Oz (Australia) and I’m salivating. We don’t have this kid of cuisines here.
This is the best series on first we feast.
One of the most enjoyable parts of Burger Scholar, is unsurprisingly the Scholarly bits. Gonna try this one.
George, I don’t know if you ever read these comments but your show always brings a smile to my face and makes me want to try all of these different burgers!
Everything about this 7 and a half minutes is amazing!
Bruh, the wind effects when he was waving his fingers 😂
My dad made this all the time when I was growing up. :) He never said where the recipe came from. ( he was born in 1913 so who knows! ) :) Its a nice memory of him.
Thanks for reminding me of this.
I made almost this exact thing last night, I had ground beef I needed to use, but did not want just a burger. So I threw in some random spices, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and cheese. Was awesome.
Gotta love how my man keeps it short and sweet!
There's a fine line between genius and madness.
I absolutely love your passion and watching your show!
You know it’s good when his head starts to whip around uncontrollably 🤣🤣🤣
My hometown classic. Love that place, Zaharakos
Oh George,,, I could watch you for days without changing the channel. Lets just say you're comfortably accomplishing your modus operandi... you are indeed making me passionate about burgers.
This is the first burger scholar video I’ve watched after passing many over. Sloppy Joe brought me in but George will have me coming back. Good times.
That first bite is always the funniest 🤣👍
I was a manager at Zaharakos so amazing to see my hometown on here!
4:47
The fact that he preseason the cheese before putting it in the pan got my rolling and screaming "Nooooooo!!!"
Tried this JUST an hour ago with my husband. I added a touch of homemade ketchup & BBQ sauce, and then buttered my slices and put a wafer thin layer of crispy garlic pickles to cut the sugar and the sauce.
Dyno.
You MUST try.
Not sure anyone can love hamburgers as much as George, but I'm trying!!!! Thank you for another great episode
Hello 👋 how are you doing
Zaharakos is awesome. Such a cool soda fountain, and relaxed vibe.
I shouldnt be watching this when im hungry
I'm watching and eating a peanut butter and jelly 😒
I hadn't been to Zaharakos in 10 years but I took my husband for the first time and had this brr-grr and it was, in fact, amazing! ❤
I enjoy this series far more than the Hot Ones, currently.
Sloppy joes are like my signature cooking dish, and yes add the whole spice rack to it
George is like your favorite wacky college professor and the class is the history of hamburgers. Who could ask for more?
5:50 that's what I was waiting for, that reaction after taking a bite of the BRR-GRR. Or Any other Burger.
1:30 I had to go back and rewatch what he said I was too distracted by the match thinking he was going to burn himself lol
I wasn't you to know that you are my favorite celebrity and because of your show cultivating my love of cheeseburgers you inspired me to start my own 50s style burger shop and I'm well on my way to starting this business you're my hero sir
I've had several Santa Cruz Bullit mountain bikes but had no idea that they were named after the skate board model. Thank you for the knowledge!
Food and history truly go hand in hand
