As a person from Kerala, I would like to request everyone to understand that Kerala is a beautiful state like many others. Unfortunately, some controversies have caused people to develop negative perceptions about us. Let me share a personal experience: I am a student from Bangalore, and while traveling to Mumbai, I encountered an incident at the airport. I met a lady from Jaipur who, upon learning that I am from Kerala, decided to change her seat. It felt like she judged me based on stereotypes portrayed in movies, which is unfair to most Malayalis who are not like that. I want to assure everyone that the people in Kerala are diverse and safe. It's not right to generalize or believe that everyone is the same, as each person's actions should be judged individually. Let's promote understanding and unity instead
But still fact is ur state is isis hub state after Sweden if we talk about secular non Muslims state than after Sweden mostly join isis from ur state but today ur state counter is also fact and now karnataka, TN or up is radar on isis recruitment ur state isisi join declining and in up,TN, karnataka increase
I am from Karnataka, last yr when i was in 12th, my school taken us to a trip to Wayanad,Kerala. Its just phenomenon, the people, the place and the culture. Rich heritage. I don't know everybody thinks kerala is a ISIS state. But do visit one time, you will get to know the truth. Coastal areas, the culture, the ethics, the most imp is secularism. But I don't know the conversion and all. I didn't get it. All communities are in their own place and living in harmony. They won't forget their identity. Just like in karnataka, kerala is also rich heritage state for Hindus.
People in Kerala eat beef with Paratha. I went there last year. In almost every restaurant they serve this particular food. I asked a Hindu uncle why they eat beef. He said we should not mix religion with food.

During floods in 2018, there is this mosque in Ernakulam district of Kerala was flooded with water and Muslim brothers didn't have a place to do their ritual prayer on Friday. So a nearby Christian Church opened their main prayer hall so that they can do Nishkaram.
As a Muslim from Kerala, I can say from the bottom of my heart that i love all my Hindu and Christian brothers and sisters. My best friends are Hindus and i wish our love and kindness towards each other continues.
As a Hindu who studied in a Christian school, I can proudly say that we are so diverse. During prayers, Religion neutral + Christian prayers are used to prevent alienation by other students. Currently Living in Kerala, I appreciate how people here don't judge me based on my religion, color, or birthplace. I was in Mumbai with my Muslim friend, and I noticed that taxi drivers were treating Muslims poorly. Here, we are fortunate to live in harmony without experiencing such incidents.
In kerala Malappuram district the district which has the most number of Muslims like 65% around and iam a Christian who is living there for past 18 years since i was born .and i studied 12 years in a Muslim school,in my sslc i were the only non Muslim student in the class.but even there there is a lot of Christian churches hindu temples etc..in Christmass we everyone wait for Christmas Carols similarly all the people will dance in poorams(hindu festivals) .. Thrissur pooram is the biggest festival in India with 100 elephants .and also we celebrate eid together.and i swear that kerala is the best state in india to live. North Indians pls remember that we don't have dharavi like slums here,no one will change our food style according to their belief, and also our superstars are not ambassadors of pan masala packets
Why always bring North and South India. Even Muslims in Hyderabad and Karnataka are forcefully Converted via Sword and Invasion. So don't say North India and South India. Only say Kerala bro. We here in Maharashtra celebrate Onam during Ganesh Chaturthi we also know how to treat someone.
The funniest fact is that after Kerala Story movie was released, communal tensions rose in the rest of India, whereas all that happened in Kerala was opposition to the movie, irrespective of religion
It's not funny. Subjugation and deracination has reached such a level that our leaders themselves can't speak up against Islamism. Ask any doctor specialised in sexual diseases, you will find that most cases are from Madrassa. Yet nobody is able to stop such rapes of boys because Islamic clerics are powerful in Kerala.
I wish you included concept of Onam also, which is celebrated by every Malayali across the world irrespective of their gender/caste/religion. Thanks Mohak and team for telling the real story. Visit Kerala when you get a chance. Happy 🌼nam :) here everyone is welcome.
Even Christmas is largely a secular festival in Kerala and is celebrated by all communities. Kerala's probably the best Christmas destination in India. Muslim festivals are also celebrated but it's not quite there yet.

Loved Kerala in my bike travel late 2023. It was the cleanest, most disciplined and enjoyable state to ride in. Loved the food, the scenery, talking to the sensible people there. Only drawback was the heat, but we can manage. Super state, and ranks way above than the so-called Indian culture states.
Kerala is called the God's Own Country because all gods have been coexisting peacefully in Kerala since the Bronze Age Collapse. It's a model community not just in India but in the world.
No kerala isn't "much" better.. Kerala is actually getting worse day by day.. check the statistics before posting such nonsense.. finance, crime, corruption, pollution, waste disposal, water distribution issues, electricity generation issues, communal disharmony and everything is getting worse.. I have felf that most people who say Kerala is great are either Muslims or Communist party workers.. I am a Muslim by birth, I do not have any party affiliations.. But I understand the problems kerala is troubled with..Muslims say Kerala is great because the narrative now is that Muslims are making Kerala worse, so Muslims try to counter this by saying Kerala is great. the same with Communist leaders. they have ruled this state for the longest and yet they have just run the state to wall.. I am sincerely sick of these "proud of kerala" thing, when most Malayalis don't even understand the issues that are there in Kerala. Most malayalis don't even know that the actual forest cover of Kerala is less than 25% when the forest cover has to be at least 33% for environmental safety.. Malayalis don't realise that crimes against women are growing in kerala. Child abuse cases are rising in kerala. Corruption is more institutionalised today than ever before. People these days have started saying "corruption is OK".. that alone shows how far out state has degenerated. Please stop making these stupid comments, just to make yourself feel good.

When this movie came out, social media was full of hate comments against kerala and malayalis. As a Malayali, I felt really sad. @@Sanjaypatelxm why hate all Muslims? Many Muslims are also among Malayalis. There are people who happen to born in Muslim families but the extend of their faith is very different. Imagine people in low caste say that they hate higher caste people because of how they exploited their community. Imagine people in higher cast say that they hate low caste cast because they are ruining their opportunities through reservation. 'hate' is a word which can kill an entire nation. If now people are hating other people of a particular religion, what about in future when they start hating people of other states, other castes, other cultures? It's very easy to hate. Don't generalise people. Imagine a stranger comes to you and say that whatever religion you believe in sucks. How do you feel? I don't think anyone will be indifferent if someone talks ill about their faith which they believe in from birth. Same goes with Muslims. Some of my muslim friends are non believers, they just take part in the community for the sake of it. (kind of scared to say that they are athiests lol,) All muslims are not very conservative. But I should say that there is an increase in conservative Muslims recently. One of the major reason for this is increasing anti muslim sentiments among people. They are forced to group together. I even heard some people saying that Muslims don't belong here. These kind of words will only make them hate our country and its citizens. One of the major reason for youngsters in joining terrorist organisations is this hate.

As a bengali, no, we really are going backwards and need strong measures to cope up with the violence the state is facing. There is no stereotype. Only good thing is that our fertility rate (1.6) is lower than the average of the country.
Well researched. Appreciate the conclusion you brought out, that the communal harmony that has been existing in Kerala for thousands of years was, is, and will always be fragile and something to be taken care of. And not to be taken for granted. Thanks.
As a malayali i totally agree! Life is still very good in Kerala though, but the issues and extreme radicalism has to be taken series and the Muslim community has been very cooperative and involved in keeping those extreme influences in check.

Communal tension in Kerala has experienced some shifts in recent times, although it is negligible compared to what is observed in certain North Indian states. Historically, from 1947 until around 2000, upper-caste Christians and upper-caste Hindus held prominent positions in Kerala, both economically and educationally. During this period, colleges and universities were predominantly led by Nair, Menon, or Christian professors. Moreover, many well-established private colleges and hospitals were under the management of Christians, and a significant number of doctors hailed from Christian, Nair, or Menon communities. However, starting from the 1980s, there was a significant wave of Muslim migration to Middle Eastern countries in search of better job opportunities. This economic upswing empowered the Muslim community to invest in the educational sector, leading to the establishment of schools, colleges, and hospitals. They also provided coaching centers to enhance the prospects of their children, contributing to the rise of Muslims in the educational landscape. This trend is evident from the results of last 10-15 years of medical and engineering entrance exams, where Muslim candidates contribute 40-50% among top rankers even through their population in the state is around 25%. As a consequence, Muslims have gradually come to dominate various sectors, including running top hospitals, educational institutions, and businesses. Christians have followed, but Hindus have seemingly shown a slower rate of progress, partly due to a reluctance among Hindus to migrate overseas. Many educated Hindus tended to pursue government jobs and were content with stable salaries, while the focus of some Hindu community leaders, such as the NSS and SNDP, on improving educational opportunities for their community was perceived to be lacking. This disparity in growth and progress has, in turn, led to feelings of jealousy and competition among the communities. Educated and successful Christians and Muslims have been actively supporting and contributing to their respective communities, which has further intensified the perceived divide. Even very conservative Muslim organizations, like the Sunni group led by AP Aboobakar Musliyar, have shown remarkable efforts in the field of education. The influence of these changes can also be observed in the Malayalam film industry. Prior to this shift, movies primarily revolved around Hindu Nair, Namburi, or upper-caste Christian families, often portraying Muslim characters in comical roles. However, as the economic opportunities increased for Muslims, they began to enter the film industry, using it as a platform to tell their stories and express their perspectives. In recent times, Christian communities have started to view Muslims as competitors, while feelings of jealousy and mistrust among Hindus, Christians, and Muslims have surfaced. Additionally, organizations like the RSS have made attempts to exploit these tensions for political gains by the BJP in Kerala. Nevertheless, it is important to note that despite these challenges, communal tension in Kerala has generally remained lower than in some other regions of India
Observation is correct but one more point must be added. The educated and well settled hindus contributed nothing to improve the growth of poor hindus due to the cast system. The upper caste don't want the SC, ST or OBC hindus to get educated and NSS and SNDP main concentration is looting their community not to improve or uplift. Now there is no visionary leader among them like mannath padmanabhan and Sri narayana guru
The next big thing Kerala has to face is the migration of new generation to european countries. Unlike UAE & GCC this generation is going to settle there and the incoming foreign money will be reduced.

But even then Muslims there have been voting for muslim league IUML in Mallapuram Districts.... If they were so secular why did they supported for a caliphate in Malabar Genocide? BR Ambedkar ji has asked alot of questions on this issue
I am a Malayali.. I am from the Muslim community.. Trust me when I say this. Kerala is getting worse every single day. 1. Pollution - the AQI values in all districts of Kerala are getting worse every single day. Many parts of Trivandrum have worse AQI than even some busy parts in Bangalore. Check the figures. 2. Corruption - The corruption charges against leaders like Pinarayi, his son in law, and many minister including the forest minister are being justified by many people purely because standing with these leaders will help police officers and other government officials get kickbacks and personal gains. Many Projects, Missions, Institutions and government companies are being created purely to obtain commission through purchases and to give jobs to communist party workers. 3. Muslims Pleasing - I am from the Muslim community, but I don't go to the mosque or anything now. However, in the past 10 years, I have noticed that many from my community including many of my family members ahve become far more communal than ever before. Many of my relatives who used to wear normal cloths have switched to Hijab. They don't even invited non Muslims for festival feasts now. When i was younger, we used to give nonveg food during festival seasons to our neighbors and used to visit them during Onam. Now we don't give them anything and we don't go to their homes for their celebrations. Maybe there are still secular Muslims, but a very very very very large section of Muslims have become extremely communal. It is this communal spirit of Muslims that has driven up the hindu spirit in Kerala too. This is bound to increase the communal issue of kerala within in 10 years- MARK MY WORD!!! 4. Education - Our educational system is terrible. People say we have a high educational index. But this is just education for the sake of education. We don't even have a single world class institution here in Kerala. We publish papers and get patents purely for the sake of publishing. We don't even have good technical institutions, other than amritha, that are ranked high in the NIRF or any global rating. Our school education is pathetic other than in private sector. 5. Finance - the finances of Kerala are a mess, the government doesn't even provide proper data in this regard. Most of the stats and figures put out by the government are extremely twisted facts. The taxation is extremely high these days with cess and surcharge being charged on literally every single item in the open market. Compulsory contributions are also collected from many LSGIs and government officials purely to sustain the state coffers while political leaders spend lavishly and have a devils own time. There are companies like KSRTC that don't even pay their employee properly. The government can't even pay government staff in government departments without taking loans. 6. Agriculture - Kerala is a consumerist state now in spite of having one of the best climatic conditions for agriculture. This is purely because of the communist movements that took land away from people who had the capital to cultivate on it and giving it to tenants as part of the land reforms act that came out in the 60s under communist leaders. Since these poor tenants did not have the capital to cultivate on it, many fertile lands were sold and eventually have today become housing areas. 7. Climate issues and disasters - Illegal constructions have become a norm in Kerala. Even Lulu mall constructed in Trivandrum in on one of the most important water bodies in the state capital, the akkulam lake. The akkulam lake was not only a thriving eco system, it was also a buffer that held excess rainwater during wet seasons. Today many lakes, swamps, paddy fields and many water bodies have been sold off to rich real estate mafia and retail giants like Yusuf Ali, Malabar group, Ravi pillai and many other billionaires businessmen with no concern the environment. The effects of this will become more prominent in the years to come. The floods of 2018 and 19 were just a start. Every year the instances of floods are increasing. We are lucky that we don't get as much rain these days. If it rains like it should, then most of our cities would under water.
Went to watch "2018" after "The Kerala Story" and it literally was the real definition of "Kerala"; the state and it's richness and the kindness and mentality of the people there. "Kerala mein kya dekhne jayenge batao!!!", literally caught me off guard, have these people even heard about the state, it's tourism, it's film industry and the mentality of the people there? One politically motivated film gets the positive critic and people leach onto it?? Religious divide and rule has been a mere political agenda for ages and it still will continue to be profound matter of interest for the vote beggers. But the true definition of patriotism lies in fighting the enemy in any or every domain, but not demeaning the ones who belong to the country in the true sense. Secularism has become a joke for everyone. Thank you for this insighful video!
Everything you say about India the opposite is also 100% true .... 2018 and Kerala story are part of identity of Kerala Like Hindu and Muslim culture is in the identity of India You can't target BJP in the case of love Jihad and all because That was the catholic Churches of Kerala who raised this term first .... ( I don't believe The Kerala Story represents all of what Kerala is but you should also accept 2018 also doesn't portrait the complete picture)
@@satwiksahoo482 in the sense "Kerela mein kya dekhne jayenge" (the lady said); there's a lot more than just "issue" that was brought up by one film. Yes, the problem depicted persists, but it's not everything that defines "kerela". Also narcissism means: " a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance" ; how did my comment make you feel i tried to assert "MY OWN IMPORTANCE"?
Both the movies are a reality of kerela. 2018 was a beaautiful depiction of beautiful people of kerela and their culture while Kerela story is a sad reality which is happening there.(There are good and bad things of every state or country or region and it's important to address both).
Hey Mohak, I have heard that originally Malayali Muslims were more liberal and women wore different attire (similar to half sari?) but now due to increased influence from Gulf countries have become more strict adopting the Burkha.. Great content btw.
It's true. But there's also a clear class separation now. Some Women from economically well to do families don't really cover their head all the time and no one complains about it.
This thing needs to be discussed and people need to know more about Wahabism/Salafism. Infact Burkha,Hijab was not even common among subcontinent muslims in 1940s,60s,70s. After Gulf boom with Wahabism(which ISIS follows) it started to spread and Arabisation is going on which is dangerous and will further increase the gap between muślimś and non-muślimś. Even Central Asian muślim majority countries like Tajikistan,Uzbekistan had banned burkha and all because they don't support Arabisation and they just wear their decent local Iranic-Turkic clothes.
I am Muslim born (1979) and brought up in kerala. Yes the attire of kerala women has changed over the decades, including muslims. Now more muslim women are getting educated and becoming financially independent, so there are many women now who do not wish to conform to Islamic code regarding women's dressing. According to Islam the Almighty God orders believing women to cover their bodies while they in front of men, so that the men do not lust on them. Naturally muslim woman's attire has changed over the decades, as well the number of Muslim women who wish to obey the Quranic orders. Since the meaning of the verses in Qur'an and Hadis were in Arabic , it's meaning was not accessible to muslims till translations became popular. Now thanks to RUclips and smart phones muslims are able to learn about their religion from talks of scholars from Qur'an as well translation apps etc etc. Basically the religious knowledge is at their fingertips. So there is an increase in religious awareness among muslims. In India more and more women now wear jeans and other clothes which used to be popular in western countries. This does not mean that they are enslaved by the west. Some 35 years back Churidar started becoming popular in Kerala among the young women, till then they were wearing sari, so it cannot be argued that South girls are enslaved by North. It is basically about women's choice and their comfort level. More muslim women wearing burkha do not mean that they are fanatic about Arab culture. Arabic dishes like Shawarma etc are getting more popular among the masses in Kerala, that doesn't mean that keralites are endearing towards Arab culture compared to Indian culture.
@@boyybbangalorexxYou really do not understand what you are saying ! Religion is not monochromatic......but, unfortunately Abrahamic religions like Islam demand you to Arab derived culture superior to your native culture as it is apparently the "correct code" ....

It felt like she judged me based on stereotypes portrayed in movies, which is unfair to most Malayalis who are not like that. I want to assure everyone that the people in Kerala are diverse and safe.

Your way of questioning is like y is hindu population increasing in UK and America and all other western countries, y is sikh population increasing in Canada in the last 100 years. Y did the native white population fall down in the last 100 years in most western countries?
If u know y white people are decreasing in western countries in the last 100 years, then u will also know y hindu population is reducing in Kerala .

@@Sanjaypatelxm why hate all Muslims? Many Muslims are also among Malayalis. There are people who happen to born in Muslim families but the extend of their faith is very different. Imagine people in low caste say that they hate higher caste people because of how they exploited their community.

Under rated comment. The current issues facing by Kerala are portrayed beautifully.
👏🏻🙌🏻
As a Christian from kerela, more secularism and diversity are found in Kerala.
2018 and Kerala story are part of identity of Kerala Like Hindu and Muslim culture is in the identity of India You can't target BJP in the case of love Jihad and all because
That was the catholic Churches of Kerala who raised this term first ....

@sapien2503 are you a keralite? cause i am.
Hey Mohak,
I have heard that originally Malayali Muslims were more liberal and women wore different attire (similar to half sari?) but now due to increased influence from Gulf countries have become more strict adopting the Burkha..
Great content btw.
Historically, True. They didn't cover their head. They wore a sari with a turban.
It's true.
But there's also a clear class separation now. Some
Women from economically well to do families don't really cover their head all the time and no one complains about it.
