Great videos. Question for you: What are the most common sized sockets/other tools needed for a 350 Transit HD? For some context, I built out a camper and am hitting the road and want to bring an abbreviated set of tools for repairs I might need to do while on the road. Any suggestions?
I would make sure you have a 5.5, 7mm, 8mm, 10mm, 13mm, 15mm, 16mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm, and 21mm socket so your are looking at least a 1/4in dr and 3/8 dr ratchet and socket set. I would also have a 8mm to 21mm wrench set. a set of screw drivers and pliers is also a must as well as a remote hose clamp tool. hope that helps.
Ironic this came up today. Took my Transit in to have a wheel noise checked. Shop mentioned on the phone about lifting the rear to check it. I took them a photocopy of the lift points (which they thanked me for). My summer project is to paint the lift points with bright paint to point them out to mechanics. Thanks for the video!
As a retired tech (1999 last year in shop) we use to always use a floor jack on the pumpkin and then set the stands on the tubes as far out as possible, same as the front, jack from the center of the crossmember. Guess vehicles are just getting more and more flimsy. Thanks for the pointers. So far I've only used my homemade ramps for when I needed to get under for works, but do need to rotate tires soon.
Awesome tips! Shockingly, the dealer lifted via the pinch weld and bent it!! Sucks! They denied it and that was that... Where are you located? A video for a transmission fluid change and coolant change would be awesome!
In my young years I made the mistake of lifting a van by the pinch welds. Never again. I do lift the transit by subframe. But use a block to disperse the load.
How tall are those adapters? I need some for our lift at work but just wanna make sure I get some tall enough to reach the frame because I have to do a valve body on a transit 250
I came unglued last tires I had put on. My van is almost 9k LB and this idiot lifted my rear up by the "pumpkin" with 1 old ass raty 3 ton harbor freight jack. They couldn't see the problem until I opened my door and showed them all my tool bins. Most just don't understand how heavy these vans can be. My old Sprinter was the same way and very cranky how it was lifted
