So Amchigeli!!! I loved the way Bapama made this... Even her commentary had so much of normalcy in it. I've learnt most of my Amchigeli cooking from my mother-in-law, who was really an expert, for which I'm eternally grateful to her. Even the snacks my Mayee made were superbe. I remember her every single day when I make something.. I'm 62 now, and with years of experience in running my kitchen, I can totally relate to what Bapama is cooking
i substituted dry kokum for bimbul or ambada as these are not available in Calif. A similar taste with nuance of kokum. It did remind me of mother's and pachi's cooking. Also some of my relatives who lived in Manipal and I often visited them when I was doing my BE (1996-2000) Chemical Engg. A shout out to Bapamma and hello to Prof. Vijaya Kini. I think he had just started as a Prof in Mech or IP.

Hi Geeta, Bimbul also known as bimbli is a sour fruit known as Tree Sorrel in English. It is available in most backyards in this region. You can try asking a couple of your friends with backyards. Let me know if you don't find it, maybe i can send it to you or help you find it 👍
Very nice receipe and your conversation also very nice. A receipe from a very experienced ma'am. Can we try this with any type of colocasia leaves. Definitely taste diferrs as we have to use tamrind only. We get other options very rare. Any way i have to try this early.
Very nice vedio Ashwin. It was very nice to see Ashakka after a long time I was looking for an authentic ganti butti recipe . Give my regards to Ashakka👌👌
I don't know if your bapama will agree with me, but i think adding a small piece of magge or some bikkand (when in season), enhances the taste of the already superb taste of the bhutti.😛😛👌👌👌
Nice nice. We don't put Masolu. We call gantya upkari. Phanna of lots of garlic and red chillies. Ambado and little god meet. Yum.... We make something called venti menas. It is made out of dentu.
Good health. Hair eaten gone in intestine best way to ring put. It does not digst. Move in circular mode. Hair enable with it comes out in stool. Else you need ulcer operation.

Why there is swelling in bapama's left hand
It's been about 20 years now, she's a breast cancer survivor. Her lymph nodes were removed and so it swells sometimes.
It pains me to see bapama grate coconut. Even if she is active, i feel u should help her with grating before hand. My son's help me & their wives too❤
She insists on doing it by herself 😄
