I may just have to go back to Ski Doo sleds. Was a 100% doo guy up untill I purchased a 2000 ZRT800 and a 01 Tcat. Then after some issues with these I went to a 03 and 05 RX1's. But now Ski Doo has an 800 with as good fuel milage and a power to weight ratio that is un challanged.. well these new Etec 800's are really looking good to me.

yes e-tec is a great technology, but very costy to repair and lot of engine and electronic problem between 2009 and 2015....if you want a good old skidoo carb 2009-2010, u will save lot of money in reperation.

They really should have talked about the oil sytem on DI systems. It's the other half of the equation with these motors. FAIL

i work at a powersports repair shop that handles all 4 brands under 1 roof, ski doo and arctic cat are the most problematic sleds that come through our shop, ski doo has a lot of issues with their cranks, a lot of people don't know about the special grease that is supposed be applied to the outer crank bearings, people don't bring their sleds in to be serviced correctly end up biting the bullet when their cranks fail. i see a lot 600 and 800 etecs with 2-3,000 miles on them needing cranks, most cranks seem to last 5-6,000 normally without being serviced. needless to say i won't own a ski doo, best engines made by ski doo were the 583, 617, and 670s after that they were all junk

Etec engines make tons of bottom end torque man idk where that came from. In fact that's where the biggest difference is found compared to the carbureted versions of the same motors the 600 HO and 800r ptek. The peak operating rpms r even lower on both etecs which tells u immediately they make more torque

Living in an area with long winters doesn't mean whatever u say is right. If u think a 550 fan or 340 make more torque than a 600 etec or any liquid cooled 600 then ur not too bright. If any sled needs revved past 1/2 throttle to move then clearly there's a problem somewhere. Its either getting too hot and the computer is pulling timing or there's an electrical problem or something. A 600 etec running the way it should will run circles around those sleds, no comparison
