    Hate the 🎶 but nice tip about the gear puller and nut/washer, I use Amsoil power foam combustion cleaner, have for over 20 years.

      It will break down the carbon build up also I use it in a small jar to soak and clean jets etc, will clean jets nice, use for cleaning tough crud too, nice video!

    I wouldn't recommend using a steel brush.
    These power valves are nikolsil plated aluminum and are extremely delicate. Hot water and soap works best.

  • @WyteOutAK

    Better soak it with starting fluid. Comes out way easier

      Mostly top end. They open up at higher RPMs to allow more exhaust flow.

    Isn't there supposed to be an o-ring between the rave and the plate that bolts to the motor?

    • @ToyShopRestorations
      @ToyShopRestorations  Год назад +2

      Just a gasket there. The o ring goes on the stem of the power valve shaft. It’s been a long time so I looked up a microfiche and that’s what it looks like.

  • @josephpothiert8005

    My suspension bolts by my feet won't tighten they are just loose on both sides And I can't seem to figure out why then won't tighten on my 2000 Skidoo formula Z 700.

    • @ToyShopRestorations

      Well hopefully they’re not stripped. Are you holding onto the head of one bolt while turning the other?

    • @bigrod0069

      or maybe they are bottoming out in shaft. maybe add couple washers

    whats the simptoms if those valves are stuck

    • @ToyShopRestorations
      @ToyShopRestorations  7 месяцев назад

      That’s a good question 🤔 I never rode something and thought “you know I bet the power valves are dirty” it’s just something I’ve maintained similar to oil changes. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I have an old RMX dirtbike and the power valve came apart and I couldn’t find replacement parts so we pinned the valve all the way open and I rode it like that. I never noticed a difference. I’m sure it makes a difference but I couldn’t tell

  • @nickneer3445

    I have a ski Doo formula 500 deluxe and I can't seem to find an exhaust can. So my question is does the mxz 500 have the same engine so maybe I could look there? Or can u point me in the direction lol? I got it for 400 bucks and it's a ripper...

    • @ToyShopRestorations
      @ToyShopRestorations  Год назад

      Oof I’m not sure. I don’t see why they’d be different 🤷🏻‍♂️ $400 is steal! Nice score!

  • @nickneer3445

    I have the same sled. What I'm wondering is are these old ski Doo motors interchangeable? Like can I put an mxz 800 motor in there and if so how hard is it.

    • @ToyShopRestorations
      @ToyShopRestorations  Год назад

      I’m not too sure on that. Never tried it 🤔 if they’re the same chassis generation then your odds are probably pretty good. Also if the chassis you have is a twin then I wouldn’t think a triple would fit. But I’m not sure. Just thinking out loud

  • @benjaminswehla8616

    Why are these so hard to start? Have a summit 600 with this system and if it’s not started every week it won’t start. Tried fuel in cylinders, changed plugs, has spark, has compression.

    What is your opinion on sea foam

    • @ToyShopRestorations
      @ToyShopRestorations  Год назад

      I use it once in a while but have never dug into any fuel additive to see if the carb actually was cleaner or not. A guy on here said he used amsoil power foam I think. And that helped keep his power valves clean. Seafoam might be similar
