UV Resin, Rainbow Cakes, and Waterslides - WHAT?!

- I absolutely love the watercolor graphics from a certain artist on Etsy (Kate Rose), and I decided to feature almost an entire collection of her rainbow desserts in this video. Using Design Space, I made the beautiful graphic sweet treats all different sizes and created a collage of rainbow deliciousness that I printed out as a full-wrap waterslide. After wrapping that waterslide on a 20-oz tumbler, I made sure the bottom rim edges of the waterslide stayed put using some UV resin and my nail lamp. After that came a quick vinyl decal, a layer of resin with glitter, and done! Super simple and gorgeous enough to eat (but please don't try)! The cake gods laughed and laughed.

So how would you finish this tumbler?
If anything, a drip around the top edge to mimic icing. But I love it just as it is, too.
I think I would take some white glitter and some gloss varnish and mix together then put some sparkle on some of the icings. But it looks great as is now. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

That water slide looks amazing!! I can’t imagine changing much. If you HAD to, maybe add colored splatters and splotches?? I make a HUGE mess when I bake, maybe add what my counters looks like when I’m done?! 😂

I'd leave it, it's so 'soft' looking that no matter what you put on it it would feel too harsh. Maybe not even the current lettering! just lots of 504 to add that ethereal iridescence and call it a happy day! Really cute!

@@Luxinda I can get it on but the problem mainly is when I go to get the wrinkles out of it it starts to crack a bit. Soo frustrated. Do you have any hints that might help me? I do make sure I have the cup wet and use the squeege tool to get wrinkles out.
@@lynnenc my only suggestion is to get some of the Plastidip Glossifier spray if you aren’t already using it. If you are using it plus two layers of a clear gloss spray, then my only further suggestion would be to try a different brand of waterslide paper. I always talk about Hiipoo, but I also love another brand called Sunnyscopa (also available on Amazon). It’s pretty strong. Good luck!

Saw another youtuber that spray paints a tumbler, then squirts on dishsoap, then a different color of spray paint. Then rinse off and resin the tumbler. Makes very pretty tumblers. Tumbler can even be coated with glitter as the base before all those steps. Have you ever tried that?

Thanks!!😊 Stickles are a specific brand of glitter glue made by Tim Holtz/Ranger. I love using them, but any glitter glue works to snazz up a tumbler ✨

Thank you!! I put the design together In Design Space, turn off the canvas grid so the design is sitting on a white background, then use the “snip tool” app to select the entire image and save it as a png file. That png file is what I open in Inkscape to print full sheet. If you’re not familiar with the snip tool, Corinne Blackstone did a great video on it and how it allows you to save designs from Design Space as files to use in other programs.
