Paging Peter Lemon Moodring: We Have Your Tumbler Ready!

- If any of you remember the early days of Saturday Night Live, with the original cast of Not Ready for Prime Time Players, maybe you'll remember one short stand-up skit by a very, very young Steve Martin, in which he called himself "Peter Lemon Moodring" and (thanks to the magic of TV) was able to turn himself all different colors depending on his mood. Why I can remember this lesser-known bit of his from 50-ish years ago but can barely remember my own name anymore is beyond me (hahaha), but I do remember that skit and the beginning of my love affair with mood rings. The funny thing is, mood rings never worked for me, because I had/have relatively thin fingers and apparently no actual blood flowing in any of them, so the rings always stayed black as death. But not this tumbler!!! No way is it staying black, especially when a heat gun is used to coax it to life -- and it's sooooo pretty!!!! The air-brush gods laughed and laughed.

Yes, very few things are as exciting as watching virtually clear liquid being sprayed on a black cup… 🤔🙄 Have you used these thermal liquids in any form?
I made my dad a cup that quotes the song Daddy's Hands and put a decal that says "There is always love in" so it shows his hand print. It was a cup I made 3 times over and was so proud of it. And also scared to use the liquid because it was not cheap. It was also the 2nd,3rd and 4th cups I ever made.
@@angelazeigler2904 that sounds wonderful!!! 🥰🥰
I like the fact you are NOT afraid to try new things and show us the DOs and DON’ts of things. Sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well after cancer treatment. Chemo is such very mean stuff. Hang in there!
Thank you!! To be honest, if I didn’t show my screw ups, I’d rarely have a video to post 🤣🤣 So I’m glad the mistakes can help folks sometimes!
I love watching you!! You've taught me to embrace my mistakes!! Lol
Thank you!😁😁
That is really cool!! Sorry you weren't feeling good from your treatment. We appreciate your tutorials ❤
Thank you!😊😊🥰
You are AMAZING!!!! I Love your attitude. I not only watch you for your amazing tumblers I watch you because I know that I am guaranteed a smile and a laugh to make my day . Pray for my fellow West Virginian.
Aw, thank you so much!!!🥰🥰
Sending good vibes your way, Cindy! 💖💖
Love how this turned out! I really need to buy an airbrush machine. Lol
Thank you, Sandy!!! 🥰 Yes, definitely - it opens up a slew of new possibilities in tumbler making!
Oh. My. Gawd. Look at that cup. It’s so freaking cool, and I love it. I had no clue they even made that stuff. And I too couldn’t make a straight line if my life depended on it. 😂
Thank you!! 😁😁 Oh, straight lines are impossible. 🙄🤣
I love how this turned out !! Spacial awareness or not it is really beautiful!!
Thank you!!😊😊
most people will never even notice that the words are not spaced the same. I know I wouldn't. Lovely as usual. Keep up the great work. Take it easy when you need to. :)
Thank you!! I agree - we are often our own worst critic. Stuff like that just jumps out at me, but that’s probably because of making all these videos and tumblers.
Love love LOVE how this turned out!!!! ❤️ it's the imperfections in life that are the best and make life better... 😉🙃
Thank you!!😊😊
That mood ring stuff is so cool. I've had my eye on getting some for a while. I think your cup came out just fine. The 504 was a nice touch. Thanks for sharing it! Hope that stuff doesn't make you feel bad anymore. Sorry to hear you're having to deal with that. Bleh. ** huge hugs ** 🥰
Thanks so much!!😊🥰
It’s beautiful! I hope you are feeling better. Don’t ever hesitate to take care of yourself! ❤️
Thank you so much!😊😊
Oh my! I love that tumbler! 😍 Just messaged you on Etsy about purchasing one. ☺️
Thank you!! I’ll go check my Etsy messages 😊😊
I am so sorry ur having to go thru cancer treatments!!! Actually, when i got diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, i randomly came across a tumbler video and that became my saving grace!!! Had i not had something to distract me from what was going on, idk how i would've made it thru! I wish u the best of luck!!!
Thank you!! I definitely appreciate the distraction that these tumblers and videos provide - staying busy is a huge plus 😊😊
How cool is this I've never seen a mood cup love it!!
Thank you!! 😊😊
I love it! I think I’m in the mood to create one…I’d like to spray my car with that stuff. You never cease to amaze me!
Thank you!!! 😊😊 Oh, I’d bet the house that mood spraying a car has been tried. And I bet it’s awesome!!! The SolarColorDust folks have a different formulation of this liquid for power sprayers that would probably be perfect for that.
That is just awesome, I was showing my husband and he said they did a good job on it. I so want to try this. 😊
Thank you (and your husband)!!! 😊😊🥰
Love the twist tumbler, love the mood ring!!!! And I was a stay black person too 🙄 kinda wish you would have shown it with a hand print for the reveal though. That would have been cool. Sending you healing vibes! 💜
Thanks!! It was about 27 degrees that morning, and my hands are always cold anyway, which is why mood rings I wore were always black, lol. So there wouldn’t have been any color without the heat gun in sub-freezing weather 😊😊
@@Luxinda Ha, I forget not everyone lives in Florida 🙃🫠
That is so cool & it looks fine - no one will notice the spacing - we are our worst critics lol - prays my friend - never give up 💕💕💕❤️
Thank you!! 😊 Very true about being our own worst critics!
IT LOOKS PERFECT TO ME. I have thermal liquids in my studio, but I haven't tried them. I might just do something with them now that i see how lovely your cup turned out.
Definitely!! Another option is a dragon tumbler I saw recently on another channel. She had a tumbler covered with dragon scales, spray painted it black, then brushed on a couple layers of this thermal liquid (a slightly thicker version), and the resulting cup was beautiful!
I love your videos so much! You are always so positive! Love how this one turned out! You always make me smile! Thanks for sharing your talent!!
Thank you very much!!😊😊🥰
@@Luxinda of course❤️
I really enjoy your personality and watching you create. I'm thinking of trying to make a tumbler......
Thank you so much!! Oh, definitely give it a try - it can be great fun 😊😊
Sweetie thats AMAZING! LOVE 😍 hope you feel better 💕
Thank you so much!!
Very cool 😎. Better days ahead 😍
Thank you!!😊😊
I love it! That paint is so fun to play with!! I love it!! I have to practice with my air gun also! Luv ya!! ❤💛💚💙💜🌈🌠
Thank you!😊😊
Very nice I'm going to pick me up some of this and try it. And I need that air brush gun too
Thanks!! Oh, it’s great - have fun!!😊😊
Beautiful tumbler! Sorry you didn’t feel well. 💐
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful cup! Hope you get to feeling better from your treatments.
Thank you very much!!😊😁
I love this! Mood Cup! Yes!
Thank you!!😊😊
Love it!! I had no idea you were going thru chemo?!?! 😣🫂💕 Please take time for yourself and your recovery! 🥺 That's so so hard! 😫 💓💗 I have used the paint on kind and the brush pens.. for small resin pieces and such. Super fun stuff but yes definitely expensive 🥲 anyone reading this, make sure not to let it dry out! 🥰
Thank you!! Great advice!
love it. I'm actually working on this exactly thing right now...i put my cup on a turner though...i'm glad it worked well for you. and i love your snazzy air brush. I bought a portable one but it still has the top knob thingie...thanks for sharing.
Thank you!! Great idea - thanks! Yes, the trigger airbrush style is so much easier for me to use than the top button or toggle style.
That is really Neat!! I always loved the mood rings to but the colors it turned on me where not that great! Hope you are feeling better!!
Thank you!! Same here - loved mood rings, but never got any results wearing them 🙄🤣
Cindy I’m So Sorry Your Not Feeling Well Chemo Sucks And I Loved How this cup turned out Feel Better Soon Prayers Coming your way❤❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks so much, Crystal!!!😊🥰
Beautiful
Thank you!😊
Love it! And sending prayers up for you!💕🌻
Thank you so much!😊🥰
This is so neato... might have to give this one a go. 💜💜💜
Thanks!! Definitely, give it a try!😊😊
Love this!
Thank you!!😊😊
this is gorgeous. hmmm, i wonder if some of this kind of color changing stuff could be mixed into resin, for like a coaster or keychain or something. thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you!😊😊 I don’t think it will work over an entire tumbler mixed into resin because that will dilute the liquid crystal product too much. But using it in small jewelry pieces like pendants or earrings, definitely!
I'm so sorry you were feeling sick. Chemo is nasty s**t. Love the tumbler and you did better than I would have lol. Hugs Cindy ❤💞
Thanks so much, Gail!!!😊🥰
So cool 😎, love it !! And your videos..Feel better soon ❤
Thanks so much!!😊😊
Love how this worked. I have an air brush for about 1.5 yrs. And am still leaning, i just haven't used it enough to get better ..... so you aren't alone. They are fun for sure and easier sorta...lol
I love to watch your videos i learn so much from you.
Btw i just did a cup using some rice paper from a company like you did a video from.... beach/sailboat scene...
Beautiful ❤️ it!! It is all because of you and me ordering all sorts of papers.
Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well...didn't know you were fighting cancer. It is a rough thing to go through. Sending prayers for you.
Thank you so much!! 😁😁 Yay on rice paper! Aren’t they fun! And, yes, I need to practice more with my airbrush. I meant to when I first got it, but it’s so easy to get distracted 🤔🙄
@@Luxinda I feel you on the distracted
I actually have a small bottle when they offered it in a spray bottle. Never used it, but now I want to try it out.
Oh, go for it!!😊😊
I'm excited to try my new spray gun that I got from Temu now. I'm going to try my hardest not to spend my money on that particular stuff, just because I need to stop spending for a bit. lol But, I'm not so intimidated by it now. I love your videos, always entertaining! I'm so happy I found your channel. 💙
That's great, and welcome!!! I totally understand stepping away from spending -- it's something I'm constantly struggling with. 🙄😊
Sending hugs 🤗 and prayers 🙏🏽 to you ❤ this cup is bomb!! Wish they had this style cause it’s beautiful 😍 I have to say I have trouble myself. My lines are always some what wonky 🤣 🤷🏽♀️ I’m so in love with this cup ❤it’s stunning 😍 stay blessed love 🥰
Thank you so much!! If you check my channel Community page, another of my viewers found a supplier for these twist tumblers, and I posted the link there.
@@Luxinda perfect! Thank you 😊
I’m sorry you had a tough time with the chemo, but are feeling better ❤. Man, I can relate to that “spatial” thing 🤦🏻♀️. The cup is gorgeous!
Thank you so much!!😊🥰🤗
Very cool!
Thank you!! 😊
♥love it ♥
Thank you!!😊😊
Hope you feel much better very soon. I think your cup is gorgeous.
I have the same ki d of spatial problems. Always have. I did great in math until high school. Then they made me take algebra, based on earlier math grades. It was a disaster. I also have problems with telling how fast other cars are coming when I want to pull into traffic. I also do not parallel park. I always thought I was the only one, so although I'm truly sorry you have this to deal with, I'm relieved to learn it's not just me.
You always do such beautiful work and I really enjoy your humor and good-naturedness (is that a word?). Yours is my favorite show to watch.
Thank you so much!! 😊🥰 It’s such a struggle, isn’t it?? My fantasy has always been to get one of those cars that parallel parks for you, lol! Some day … when that money tree finally grows in my backyard 🤣
@Luxinda same for me. I was always told if you can't parallel park you fail your driver's test. I backed right into the curb! I knew I'd failed. He told me to pull out and go back to the courthouse and park. Unbelievably he issued my license. My last attempt at parallel parking, lol.
Way cool 😎 love it
Thank you!!😊😊
love this, Try rubber bands to help make a line around
Thank you!😊😊
That was fun. I am not so adventurous...lol. I enjoy. Watching your channel. In the mood was perfect quote. Glad your feeling better. The sparkle out in the sun is that 504....do you add a sparkle to filming or does that glitter look that fabulous?? Thanks so much Dear. hugs Sheryl 💙🎨💙
Thanks so much!😊😊 I don’t enhance the sparkle digitally, but I do record those final sunshine shots in early-morning light, so the sun is hitting the cup from the side rather than overhead.
My very favorite personal cup is liquid crystal I did the 12 color spectrum concentrated version it was very difficult to work with and insanely expensive and kinda looks like an avocado skin when it's cold but it's still my favorite cup!
I can totally understand why now that I’ve done this one! 🤩
I love this tumbler! I too purchased a airbrush from the Nola's and I love how easy it is to use. My issue is I don't know what to make with it but at the time of purchase I thought there would be enough projects, I would be able to make endless things 🤪😜
I hope you don't go through to much side effects from the chemo 😊
Thanks, Phyllis!! 😊😊 Yeah, I thought I’d use the airbrush more often than I’m doing irl, but part of that is lack of practice since I get pulled in different directions with whatever tumbler I’m working on in the moment. I suspect if I practiced more, I might think of more uses. Maybe 🤷♀️
@@Luxinda I am having trouble getting back into doing anything with anything to do with being creative. My sister battled very aggressive cancer for a year & passed on 3/2 @ the age of 58.
I just turned 57 so we were very close in age. I just can't kick this funk. I definitely don't want to throw in the towel! Can't wait to see what else you create 😊
@@phyllisgast8357 I’m so sorry about your sister!! And I hear you about the funk - I’m actually having pretty good results on YT right now (huge thanks for the recent boost from Anthony Crammen!), but I still struggle hugely with new video ideas. It’s definitely dampening my overall enthusiasm…
Thank you for your condolences Cindy. I have heard you mention a time or two that you were doing chemo. If I may ask? I don't want to be too nosey! what kind of cancer do you have?
My sister had small cell carcinoma. It started in her lung and it Metastasize very fast.
Thank you for listening & I haven't really spoke about my sisters passing here in our Tumbler family. 💜
@@phyllisgast8357 in my case it's melanoma, which sounds deceptively nice and mellow, but is apparently the deadliest of the skin cancers... but I'm doing great so far, just have some bad days here and there that unfortunately affect my ability to stick to a schedule for recording and publishing videos.
Wow so beautiful ❤
Thank you!!😊😊
That looks cool, and I, like you struggle to get anything straight. My mom is also going through chemo. I'm glad you're feeling better in the latter half of the video.
Thank you!!! Best wishes for your mom!
@@Luxinda thank you.
Sassy looken tumbler - miss you & your Videos
Nice to meet a specially challenged sista 😂 the cup is pretty
Thank you 🤗 Yes, it’s a struggle 🤔😁
I love this tumbler, it's beautiful! I did one a few months ago using the product you have to brush on. I definitely need to buy the spray on version. How much did you have left over after spraying 8 layers? I've been struggling with what to add on my cup, I really like the saying you choice, it's perfect. I hope you are feeling better.
Thank you!! Great question, because somehow I thought all those layers were going to use a lot of the liquid. But - pleasant surprise! - I can’t even tell any is missing from the bottle!! So what seems like a pretty small bottle of the magic stuff goes a lllonnnnggg way 😁
@@Luxinda I know this stuff is very pricey so I'm very happy to hear that you used hardly any at all. I will definitely have to buy some when my budget allows, lol.
Looks amazing! Glad to see you feeling better. Wondering... Would it work if mixed into epoxy like a mica?
Thank you!! I’m honestly not sure that it would work, because it needs to be concentrated in one spot or built up in layers. So either painting it on in multiple layers, or spraying it on in multiple layers. Artsy Madwoman did a great art piece with the paint version and she applied drops of it on black with a dotting tool. But I think when it’s dispersed in resin, the effect would be too slight or just wouldn’t show up. But if anyone else sees this question and has tried it, please put a comment here!
Thank you!😁
Hi I have tried to add this to epoxy. It does not work as an additive. You just wind up with a piece of epoxy that is the tan color of the paint and doesn’t change color.🫤 But it does look amazing when painted onto a dark background! Hope this helps. Happy crafting!
Very nice. That was a very interesting project. Does it change color from the heat of your hand? A heat gun is a lot hotter than the hand.
Thanks!!! Yes, for people who actually have normal warm hands, this works perfectly when you hold it - a nice blue-green hand print appears. But the morning I filmed the sun shot at the end of this video, it was 27-degrees F outside, so my freezing cold hands had no effect, and I had to get out the heat gun.
I was going to try making this next month!!! Sadly had to send my air brush back since it was faulty and my project got put on hold. Do you think, given how many layers it takes and the cost of the fluid, that it's financially worth it? I would think you'd have to increase the cost of the tumbler by at least $5 or so.... I tend to work with 20 oz skinny straights with a price point of $35 so I was concerned about that. Let me tell you though - it's gorgeous hun!! I LOVE what you put on it (In the mood lololol) Hmm maybe I should make my personal tumbler like this - as a warning system for my husband. LOLOL!!
Lol!!! Great idea for a personal tumbler!😁😁 Actually, once I finished all the layers, the bottle of liquid looked just as full as when I’d started 🥳 so it goes a long way. But, yes, I’d add on extra to a tumbler price for the product and all the time involved in the layers.
Cool! How did you know I finally broke down and bought some the other day? (*insert twilight zone theme here*) :) SOOO many questions lol! Does liquid inside the cup have any effect? or is it insulated from the outside layer (as it should be :) ) My brother recently bought the family some mood rings as gag gifts, and I haven't been able to get this stuff out of my head since. I noticed it when I first started into tumbler making, but was intimidated by the price. I was thinking it would stretch the cost if you only used it on a part of the tumbler, or featured it in a central shape or medallion. I also make coasters and have been eager to try it on a black tile. I can't wait to try this, but will have to break out the airbrush and actually use it for the first time :) btw, I was googling pictures to get design ideas and saw that some have used it for show tiles... wild!
Thank you!! Oh, those are all great ideas for using this stuff in other ways! I’m itching to use the pre-loaded paint brushes of this product - painting on black tiles would be amazing!
I don’t think hot liquid in the cup sets the mood colors off, but honestly, I haven’t tested it.
Did it turn colors as the epoxy cured?
Do you mean because of the way the resin heats as it cures? Maybe a little, but I put the layer of resin on then left it to cure overnight, so I didn't actually witness anything like that -- it was already so hot in the room, which is why the cup was looking reddish when I added the resin layer, so it may have changed a little more, but then turned completely clear (black) during the night.
OMG Cindy! 😲
I heard you say that "C" word.
I think of that as being the baddest word of all time.
No, not that "c" word, for those who are really dirty minded. 🙄
I didn't know, I watch everything you post. Have you said anything in any of your videos?
I'm so sorry to hear you're going through chemo. Please know that I'm thinking of you and praying for you as well. 💜🙏💜🙏💜
Thank you for the kind words! I’ve mentioned it very casually a couple times, especially back in October when I had to take a month off for surgery when the whole “c” adventure started. But I don’t like dwelling on it, so it only comes up in videos when I feel I need to explain why I’m not doing something more intricate or time consuming like I used to. Some days, I just don’t have the energy.
@@Luxinda I remember you had surgery back in October, but I apologize for not catching the reason why you had to have surgery.
If there's ANYTHING I can do, don't hesitate to ask. Sending you love and hugs. 💜🤗
