    I ordered and used your discount code, thanks! I received them a couple weeks ago and have used them on my laptop, Nintendo Switch and PS4. Generally, I like them very much and have also purchased the lens inserts that made my visual field much clearer. I can comfortably read text better than on my laptop screen. I have poor vision due to retinal damage but discovered that VR and glasses like these, I can almost see normally.
    However, these do not offer 3DOF display of PC screens in direct connection and stabilization is not there. That causes me to see the screen move with every beat of my heart and I have to keep my head totally motionless. I see that Xreal now has a device that solves these issues for their glasses. Is Rokid working on one too?

    I actually picked up the rokid air after your video last year but ended up returning it. My main issues were the resolution just wasn't quite good enough to use for work, and there didn't seem to be a way to lock my mirrored pc screen to one direction, but instead followed me when I moved my head, which makes me sick. Are either of these improved?

      Hi there, thanks for your question. The resolution is slightly better especially we solved the blurry edges issue. As for the stationary screen, you can achieve that if you have a compatible android phone. Also, we plan to release a compute unit to do that as well.

    • @CasandChary
      @CasandChary  Год назад +5

      Rokid answered your question. I wanted to add that I use the glasses primarily for consuming content. If by productivity, you mean you're reading a lot of text, then the screen might not always look great as the glasses need to be in the sweet spot constantly, which is harder to do with small text and a head that's always moving. So I think for productivity, it's best used as a secondary monitor that you peek at once in a while and not constantly. Consuming content like watching a movie doesn't have this problem as you won't notice the slight blurriness if the glasses fall out of the sweet spot for a bit.

I was going to purchase the airs a month ago but in the UK they are tied in some exclusivity deal with the phone company EE and it was nearly impossible to get some if you wernt prepared to switch to that company. They're 1080p micro-OLED displays, so they have higher clarity than a typical OLED or LCD display at the same resolution.

    Looks very, very similar to the nreal air, with some interesting trade offs. The air has no dioptic adjustment but it sounds like it's much easier to use (I haven't had to deal with a tiny sweet spot). Both have 3DOF AR modes but on the air at least I never use it as its very gimmicky and mostly I just want to watch RUclips etc. Be interested to try these but doesn't look like it's worth the extra cost vs the airs much lower sticker price, let alone upgrade cost if you already have the air.
    Have you tried the nreal air? How do you think it compares?

    Appreciate the info. Quick question if you don't mind me asking, but when using it with your steam deck, is the screen pinned to your head movement forcing you to keep your head still, or can it be pinned in 3d space that allows you to turn your gaze away from it at will (sorta like the AR function)? Picked up an Nreal Air couple months back thinking the mirrored screen pinned to ones head wasn't such a big deal, rocked it a few times, but it quickly became a paper weight from the lack of that one feature.

    That's pretty warm. Hope my eyes can handle it.

    Small fov, low resolution, unable to fix screen to one place in 3d space... interesting product but not there yet imo

    Bigger screen with the same resolution means worse perceived resolution than the first iteration. 120 hz doesn't necessarily mean 120 fps (rokid air has 75 hz and 60 fps).

      Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it :)
      As for the resolution, I think it looks better than the previous iteration.

      @@CasandChary That's surprising. I thought bigger screen at the same resolution always meant a downgrade in sharpness (lower ppi). Maybe they sent out some Hogwarts prototype. Exciting times nevertheless.

    3:14 So is your TV 215" ? The marketing on these glasses is so scammy when they always claim its some insanely large TV. Yeah, but at what distance ? :)

    • @CasandChary
      @CasandChary  Год назад

      No, my TV is 77inch and I was 3 meters away from it as I think I mentioned. This is exactly the reason why I show you this with my real TV with a use case that is used often. The screen can go 215" wide maximum but the problem is that not every app will output the video in the perfect ratio and size of the glasses screen. I found that mostly Rokid apps that are made for the glasses can do it as wide as possible but apps like Netflix doesn't look as wide. I don't mind it, though, the screen is really big enough for watching Netflix/RUclips. We'll have to be patient for this to be improved further :)

    I would like to get in touch with a software company about getting a pair of these and trying to set up a user interface at my job .. I'm a line cook and it would be amazing to look at a piece of meat do a gesture above it and have a digital timer. .. set .. as well as a count from our computer system on the numbers of fried items I need always displayed.... I think I could really change the industry .......

    Too bad it won't ship in time for me. In 3 weeks I'll be on a 14 hour flight and this would have been such a relief. Oh well, maybe it'll be cheaper the next time I have the need for such a device

    You are promoting Rokid Max without bringing up the fact that it is VERY LIMITED in terms of the hardware that is compatible with it.
    I am unable to use my Rokid Max on my Lenovo Ideapad3, Samsung phone A32 5G, my Amazon Fire 10 HD Plus or my Chromebook.
    I was able to install the Rokid AR on my phone only but still it was not working. My Lenovo Ideapad3 recognized Rokid Max but still unable to use it.
    There are no instructions or videos to help new users. All the products they have are promotional, misleading and not instructional.
    We need help to be able to use the product or we would have no use for it and will have to return it.
    Any thoughts on this?
