Really appreciate the focus on form here - had no idea I had been raising my elbows at the top of the move in the past. Now I lowered the weight ~ 25% and get it right - thanks!
Sending this video to my mom, great video. Only constructive criticism I'd give is to include the foot stance, common sense for most but important for someone very new to resistance exercise. Feet shoulder width apart, legs very slightly bent at the knee to reduce pressure on the back.
Thank you thank you thank you!! "Full range of motion" was what I had not been doing, no wonder I was wondering why my biceps hadn't developed after more than 1 month of bicep workouts. However, I did my bicep curls with my arms all the way down, and I found that whenever I curled up biceps up, my elbows snapped. After I worked on my biceps, I felt that my elbows took on big part of the stress, and I have some "varicose-like" veins on my antecubital areas now. (Antecubital areas are the ones on the front of elbows, and I don't know the non-biological layterm. I have very thin veins, so I'm not sure if they are that prone to injuries, which I don't like, because I want to work on my biceps, and I don't understand why they're making so much trouble.) Is there a smaller degree of extension (< 180 degree) that will alleviate this problem, but still achieve optimal bicep development? Or are there stretches that will alleviate/eliminate this problem? I stretched before I started, but I wasn't sure if the positions of the stretches were not for biceps or not. Thank you so much.
@TyrantDNA Since you are pretty young I'd say workout about 3 times a week (with rest days in between your workouts) Do 3 sets of as many reps you can do.
It's not a good idea to do them straight up and down in front of your body, it puts a lot of strain on your elbow ligaments and you run the risk of forcing your elbow into hyper extension mode. If your gonna do bicep curls standing then you should always start by hold them parallel at either side of your body, and either do a full hammer curl or twist once you get to 90 degrees and twist on the way back down again. I used to do them the way she did at the start, and consequently I've damaged my elbow and will most likely have to undergo surgery if I want to get rid of the popping and locking in the joint.
209Stretch Yeah some exercise vids tell you to do an exercise a certain way, and others will tell you not to do it that way. I'm just speaking from personal experience. It you wanted to do full range of motion it would be better to use an ez-curl bar that way you got more control and it will stop at your body on the way down so your elbows won't extend past 180degrees.
Oh God..some of the comments on here. LOL! However, getting serious for a moment, my dumbbell workouts are done at home and I sit in a chair in when I do bicep curls. Is this a no no and will the world stop evolving around the sun if I continue to do them in this manner (I do hammer curls standing up)?
Why don't we stop with the sexual comments or talking about whether she's manly or not and using the actually disrespectful term "tits" and just appreciate the hard work she's put in to get to where she is? Is that such a hard thing to ask?
how do u regain back ur strength?? i had problems with my ceps ...how to regain back strength??i used to lift heavy but i was doing some other stuff about 3 weeks ago....when i lift again today...i cant even do 5 dumbell curls both arms any help? i force myself but just cant :/ now im here on youtube lol
With any of these exercises, what if one arm lacks full range of motion? (I can't bend my right arm completely -- it stops at about a 90 degree angle, so to do a curl, I can't bring a bar/dumbbell up all the way to my chest)
Hi! What dumbbells did you use? Is this lesson for men also? I am a guy and did this but it was brutal! I could only manage with 1 lb dumbbells but stopped during the second set as my arms just gave up! :( I feel lost for what to do.
@g2gJuggling Do some cardio for weight loss. Fat doesn't always burn directly in the place you work out. For example, working out your mid-section to get washboard abs may not yield results because a lot of fat is stored in the gut.
God... to many haters here. Btw 2 cents from me: Strech your trapezius, this will help you to keep your elbows at mid line. Do standing curls instead of alternating curls if you already have hammer curls in your list.
@TyrantDNA No, definitely not. I'm 17 now and when I was your age I was wondering the same question, after a lot of research and personal experience I found out all those rumors were BS, btw you may wanna higher the weight... say 10lbs to start (which is about 5Kg)
great video, she goes straight to the point and makes the video brief. Thanks so much for uploading this!!
She is a fantastic trainer. I learned from her's other videos as well.
Why not this?
I love her and her voice... When she says No No! Thanks a lot for these videos!
seen a couple different weight lifting videos on the internet.... this girl is definitely the best!!!

You are such a good teacher! I wish you could train me. I'm an older lady working hard to get definition in my arms like yours!
Impressive how well spoken and informative that she said ...hat off ....👍👏👏
I'd love to have a personal trainer like her!
@ Everyone saying: "I'd do her".

Great form and very informative, THANK YOU!
Is there a difference between doing alternating reps than doing it together? (Ie left arm right arm left arm right arm etc)
That was very helpful! Thank you so much for the detailed and to the point demo 😊
perfect, staying in front of the thighs is the best way to stimulate the biceps for me
Her arms look so cool!! I wish I could magically steal her arm muscles! 💪🏼➡️💪🏽
Love these old videos. Try hammer curls without thumb. Much better !
need more videos like this; short, to the point and focus on form

Thank you!! I was putting the weight on my shoulders
Thank you, I love your videos. Am a guy and prefer women to train me, they are so much better trainers
She looks great! Thanks for the demonstration
Very helpful and direct videos! Love this channel.
She's really pretty and her muscles are amazing.
Simp!
@TyrantDNA Since you are pretty young I'd say workout about 3 times a week (with rest days in between your workouts) Do 3 sets of as many reps you can do.
Take note that the hammer curls also work the bracilias muscle and brachioradlias muscle other then the bicep muscle.
So only squeeze at the top, not during the whole rise? Thanks.
Michelle's is a awesome trainer!!!
u sure know what ur talking about unlike many tough guys here !!!
I really hurt my shoulders today. I guess now i know why. Thank you
should this exercise have to be done with 2 dumbbells or can i switch arms with one dumbbell?

Well, at least you can pop and lock now, lol. I've never done them with the palms facing forward luckily.
Yea, even Arnold recommended that you do them the way you just said.
How should I stand while doing bicep or hammer curls with my feet wide apart or close together??
Does it give different effect when i do it on bench? (Sit down position)
Thanks anyway!
Thank you so much. Really appreciate this
May you tell me the name of each move?
do you always exhale during the hard part of the exercise?
I wish to look like her one day
Did you do it?
Awesome video can’t wait to do these in my gym
What head of the bicep does this dumbell variation work? The long head or the short head? 0:29
i wonder how long it took her to get that strong

it is bad to start with the hammer then to twist on your way up?
no its not bad but its not as good for you as not twisting if you keep on it eventually you wont twist i no longer do any ways
MMMonarchy Then why does everyone do this instead of doing normal/hammer? Or is it just the idiots at my gym?
It makes it harder to do that and puts a lot of stress on your wrists, imo just do strict form.
How many sets of each should I do and how much time between each set should I rest?

hammer curls, i was always wondering if I was doing an exercise when i do those.
Lance Armstrong taught me this
What's the point of doing twisting curls?
SharamanONorgannon Only a year late, but doing them straight up and down has higher risk of damaging your elbow ligaments.
***** But aren't hammers and regular curls supposed to isolate the two muscle groups in your biceps?
Why need to squeeze bicep muscles?
Thank you.
Loved it.
I love this workout! I will do this in the gym everyday

Form over weight. Patience
@@rupinjeremiah9589 I used 10 pounds kept it light
Michelle heavy or light for beginners?
enough weight you can do 7-10 reps each arm but also enough weight that that last Rep Burns and so you feel it in the muscle good
+Kia Volturi if reps is not the right word then it's sets but pretty sure Its reps... I get them mixed up all the time
Does this stunt your height growth?

How much is she lifting in kg?
I want to pull both up... but my left arm is weak compared to my right.
work out your left a bit more than, it's natural that your dominate hand is more stronger than the other because you use it more in life situations
translation = choking the chicken
I worked out both arms equally, but now my left arm is a little bigger and stronger.

hmm i really need a video on how to do sets of 21's ...... :) but great video btw
How many should beginners do?
I think it’s whatever your body can take. You don’t have to do 6 to 12. I do 4 to 10 and I feel the pump and I feel good.
@@study7794 as in sets or reps?
@@isaiahjones2089 4 sets of 10 reps.
@@study7794 gotcha
The bicep attaches to the shoulder so at the top of the squeeze, you should lift your elbows slightly to engage the bicep fully..
Just sayin..
Thank you!

I try 12 lb ok 15 better to 12 reps 17 lb to 8 reps so I stay with 15 over a few weeks then add reps before any weight increase
