+ScottHermanFitness I'm glad you gave us the last tip. I have trained for about 3 years and really serious for almost 1 and a half and I've always tried to concentrate on form. Love the Hammer curls... I do both and really really focus on the mind muscle connection, keep chest out and I sit doing them. It hurts like hell and I'm using 17.5 lbs but feels like 25 or more. Great, great pump

Awesome. I am looking forward to more VS series Scott. As a personal trainer these tips are not just amazing for me but my clients as well. Thank you. Can we see bench press Vs push ups?
Your videos are great! I’ve been searching for a site that has legitimate gym workout plans and found one. They have each exercise video highlighted and it takes you to a RUclips video, most of them are your videos. I’ve learned a lot over the past few days and I’ve been more sore the past couple days doing this workout routine than I had been the whole time going and lifting for 30-40 minutes by jumping from machine to machine. Keep up the great content!
Hello Scott. I personally love your videos. I just started doing my workouts since May. And my goal is every time I enter the gym, I do my best to do proper exercises to get the best results for my body. So far, I have had personal trainers come and go, so right now I don't have a personal trainer. But watching this video and other videos you are showing, is really helping me to do better job. I am always looking for ways to improve my form and techniques. And you are definitely helping me to get on the right track.
I've been doing the hammer curl mostly for quite some time. I really like how it makes my arms look compared to previously training the bicep curl alone. The downside is that from a front view my arms look smaller(results from hammers only) compared to the results from bicep curls only. However from the side view, or when i flex, the hammer results looks bigger.
love the video and the fact that I can learn even while exercising. The only thing I would add is to focus on the contraction of the muscle itself while at the top of the movement, basically giving that " extra squeeze"
Yeah because putting the same exercises in every routine is good for growth stimulation right? Please don't do this. Change your routine every month to maximize muscle growth. Otherwise your muscles will get used to the exercise and you will miss out on gains.
Enjoyable to watch a guy who is excited about what he's teaching. Makes me want to start working out. Switched from very physical job to sedentary. Thanks Scott, I'm psyched !!
Thank you for your super helpful videos! The anatomy explanation is great stuff! I also find it easier to get the right motion by mostly focusing on the tips of my elbows and pretending they are attached to a weight by a string, so they always stay vertical. Keep the good stuff coming :)
+Ben Motivated that's not true really. Both can build strength or muscle (hypertrophy). That just depends on rep ranges and weight. The main difference is obviously db isolates each pec more so it's better overall because you won't develop imbalances using dbs. Also, can get a better contraction with dbs because of the freer range of motion and it's less hard on the wrists and shoulders.
bonzihunter I kept my answer small for a reason. I'm not referring to rep ranges. There's a reason someone can bench 315 and only dumbbell press up to 120s but can barely press if at all 160s. Because barbell press is a strength exercise like deadlift, and squat. That's why you see people trying to increase their bench press, not their dumbell press.
Thanks for this one. I've been doing hammer and bicep curls in the same routine for a while now and wondered if it's really worth doing both of them. Now I feel more convinced about it!
thanks mate I have been working out for 3 months now have sum gains, but just learnt I have been doing my arm work outs wrong. Look forward to seeing your other videos
depands on you , for me i prefer dumbell bench press because i can get the full range of motion with it more comfortably and it's also helps to fix muscle imbalance so for you try both kinds for 2 weeks and decide what is better for you
+ChicagoBearsFan23 just do both. i would say have a heavy chest and a hypertrophy chest day and on the heavy day do the barbell bench and on the hypertrophy do dumbbell bench.
6:40 My favorite part... I laugh when I see people swinging their arms during reps trying to use heavier than needed weight. Anyone can do that, but not everyone can do full, correct posture curls with little to no other body movement but your targeted area.
+Martinez Emilio front squats have more dorsiflexion in them because of the bar placement lowering the angle of your hips and making them more quad dominant back squats don't do this as much making them more of a hip/quad movement

dont know if youre gonna read this but i had the exact same problem. fixed it by fixing my grip. i always used to grab the bar more with my fingers than with my hand. i focused on putting the bar right in my palm and have a strong grip, because its the fingers that are connected with your tendons and causing you that pain
@@jamesdesantis9420 Glad you read this, i hope it will help you. I had this Problem for a long time and didnt know if i used to much weight or if my arms werejust weak but after i focused on that it got a lot better right away. Maybe you can give me an update in a few weeks if it actually helped you🙏
@@Sebi2896 I had the exact same problem and through trial and error I figured out the dumbbell being seated into my palm instead of fingers was the solution 💪

Awesome. I just found you, I am a newbie, and I was aware not to do jackass swinging while pumping. Since you know the muscles groups so well and know how they act and help us to move and lift, as a newbie I have subscribed and look forward to learning more. I am a veteran in need of training my body to be healthier and stronger at the age of 58. You rock Scott. Thanks for taking time to show others the proper and best ways to do weight lifting and strength training.
I feel like I've learned something. Thank you sir.
Scott, can you do a dumbbell bench press vs barbell bench press?

I only do hammer curls because the supinated bicep curls inflame my tendinitis every time.
dont know if youre gonna read this but i had the exact same problem. fixed it by fixing my grip. i always used to grab the bar more with my fingers than with my hand. i focused on putting the bar right in my palm and have a strong grip, because its the fingers that are connected with your tendons and causing you that pain
@@Sebi2896 Thanks for your reply, SP - I'll give that a try!
@@jamesdesantis9420 Glad you read this, i hope it will help you. I had this Problem for a long time and didnt know if i used to much weight or if my arms werejust weak but after i focused on that it got a lot better right away. Maybe you can give me an update in a few weeks if it actually helped you🙏
@@Sebi2896 I'll do that - thanks so much!
@@Sebi2896 I had the exact same problem and through trial and error I figured out the dumbbell being seated into my palm instead of fingers was the solution 💪
Great info and well explained as usual Scott. Thanks mate👍
How different hand postions work the biceps:
- Perform some of your bicep dumbbell curl with a supinated grip to emphasize Biceps Brachii
- Perform some of your bicep dumbbell curl with a pronated grip to emphasize Brachialis
- Perform some of your bicep dumbbell curl with a hammer grip to emphasize Brachioradialis
By coincidence this is how i do my bicep curls before before i saw video

+Pretty Boy Flizzy Thanks for the suggestions bro!!
I'm actually a new subscriber as I just subscribed moments ago.
Anyway, can you suggest/give me a good work-out program? I've been training for 3 years and I can see little to no results. I badly need a new and effective program. One for chest, one for back, bicep, tricep, shoulder and leg.
Can you help a guy out?
