The design and creation process of the Lloyd Coat wallet has been a long one. Based upon the design of a 1950s wallet owned by Charlie's Grandfather, the first and most important part of our job was not to spoil the beautiful lines of the original, but to bring the design up to date, the original having been designed in a world before credit cards or other such things. A design on paper isn't the end of the story though, and the complex shapes and construction had to be brought together into a single beautiful object, with each element adding to the form, as well as the function of the finished piece. The result is a traditional wallet, the largest in our Lloyd series, but sharing the same beautiful curves that run throughout. Each one takes more than a days work to create, with every stitch meticulously done by hand, but we hope as a result will be passed down the generation as was the original the design is based on.
It's great to see a true craftsman at work in these rushed days. A trade very much like woodcarving where every part of the material is touched, a talent that is coming back. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼😊
Glad you enjoyed :-)
Indeed I have and also a few more of your videos..
Equus Leather what's the musical piece been played?
Marc Do you like drawing :) You should watch my latest video or subscribe :)
Makes you understand why some items are so expensive. The amount of time, dedication and detail is truly amazing.
*****
I agree, but depends on how deep the consumers pockets are. For someone well off, it wouldn't hurt their bank account.
This is true to a degree. What we do would have been less unusual 100 years ago, but it would still have been top end, expensive stuff. The wallet we based the design of this one on was machine stitched and it was made in the 50s and came from somewhere smart in London so even then speed of production was a major factor, probably along with a skill shortage caused by the wars.
Putther loool i never expected to see you here, true fan!
Equus Leather what's the song?
Child laborers aren't making high quality leather wallets. Either robots or highly skilled artisans make them.
In these days of mass produced crap it’s so nice to see that traditional crafts are still being used to create things of beauty and style that will last a lifetime.
Thank you :-)
beautiful work, but why a 6+ minute video with no payoff at the end showcasing the finished product?
Baghuul its really not...
But they tease you with the build up and close-ups and don't give you the final release of seeing the finished product
They're showcasing the craftsman's skill, not the product.
KwetsiG
they cant tack a 20-30 second reveal at the end?
www.equusleather.co.uk/equus-handstitched-wallets.html
As a saddle maker, who has made a few wallets, that is fantastic workmanship.
Thank you, thats kind of you to say
Equus Leather great work man keep it up im subscribing
And it requires very steady hands, which I sadly do not have!
Equus Leather I realize this was over a year ago, but my only problem with the video is I wish you had shown the final product a bit. granted we did see you make the whole thing, but I was sitting in anticipation wanting to see what it looked like when it was done.
Id wrap that wallet up inside my money bruh
I almost choked on my food 😂😂😂
Funny :-)
I can't believe that I just watched a 6 minute video on a guy making a wallet, and I loved it.
My thoughts exactly. Enjoying the process of the art is a bit exhilarating. I often watch woodturning videos and time flies horribly.
strangely one of the most relaxing videos ive seen on youtube
Am I the only one who thinks watching this is relaxing?!
Cyrus DJ yes, I find it gives me serious anxiety and suicidal thoughts, I haven’t slept for eight days now, I’m beginning to think suicide is my only option !!
Cyrus DJ nah they’ll try sedate me, I saw it on a documentary once, the CIA will do experiments on me man, I can’t go, I won’t go !! They’re everywhere !!!! Always watching !!
Dave Smith
There are so many ways for me to prove you wrong! 😂
But even if that’s true, it’s better than suicide, 😂
Cyrus DJ prove it to me !!! I need answers !!
There’s no better way to prove it to you than a non biased person of the mad house
ruclips.net/video/9yVWM49R4HU/видео.html
Does this look like a torturing room to you?👆🏻
This video made me realize that I should really pursue delicate craftsmanship of some sort.
That's the most dramatic wallet making I've ever seen!!!
I love both the lighting and the visible patience that this guy has. I have made lots of leather projects of my own and I can tell you that it can be very frustrating at times.
Very frustrating most of the time, if you're here in our shop. Leatherwork is the hardest craft I've ever tried.
I spend many hours making things many don't understand why and will likely never get it. Beautiful work, fantastic filming. Awesome craftsmanship. Thank you
Not at all, thank you for the kind words and for the time spent watching
This ain't no wallet... This is perfection.
If the production value of your videos is any indication of the quality of your products, it is easy to justify the expense for great quality. Keep up the great work!!
Didn't know Zachary Quinto is now making wallets.
Julian Rain this is what happens after he goes bald.
That was my exact first thought when I saw this guy xD
Haha, I thought the same as well.
sylar is really crafty
Same.
This makes me cry since my Bespoke leather wallet was stolen inside a mall.
The craftsmanship in to these handmade crafts is so magnificent.
That wallet costs more money than I'll ever have in a wallet
480?!! Who the fuck needs a wallet that expensive? I can make one out of Duct tape that will last me like 10 years or more.
Cricket101382 I wouldnt spend that much on a wallet but these will last a long time and are handmade. They're obviously VERY good quality...
Nope the one shown is in alligator skin and cost 1535 euros.
Waste of money.
you can drive around a 26 year old banged up toyota camry or you can drive a bugatti. you can use a duct tape wallet or use a hand crafted alligator skin wallet. you can wear a macy's suit or you can wear a hand made italian or turkish suit. its these choices that separate common folk and the rich / the luxury enthusiasts (or the stupid common folk that wanna look rich and save 2 months just to buy a belt)
when you really need an A in the schoolproject
This channel soothes me... the music and the sound of cutting, the leather when he touches it, the thread, hammering...everything😊
Sugar & Spice glad you enjoy it :-)
Do you make a nylon and Velcro version of that? I like the Velcro closure to keep my arcade membership card safe.
Feint troll of the year goes to Feint Troll
The craftsmanship of this wallet is absolutely beautiful, the processing was amazing.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
This isn't a job. It's art. Just the amount of work, talent and patience that goes into these items makes the price worth while. Such beauty.
This guy put more care and attention into making that one wallet than I did on all of my years of schooling combined.
Nevermind the amazing craftsmanship. The video presentation alone was worth the view.
Handcraft should be worshiped because the item shows the dedication of the maker to master his craft
You should do guitar straps. They would sell. When a guitar is £10-20k a strap made like this would be perfect.
Yes this is a very good idea put small pockets for picks and spare strings into it too to combine wallet with strap
that was real interesting and beautiful. God bless you and you great skills
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Plz make more videos like this
We plan to!
Equus Leather how long does it take to make one
One of these wallets? It can be up to 2 days
I’m only halfway through this video but already I am flabbergasted by the skiving of one edge into a neat, narrow angle done freehand with a chisel! Many, many hours of practice have gone into perfecting just that skill alone.
Yup!
I don't care how much that wallet costs, the amount of time and effort put into it, is worth it.
Not gonna buy a wallet this expensive, but I did enjoy seeing how it's made and how it turned out. That's art, man. :)
Every time I have the pleasure of watching such a craftsman I am thankful we still have some left! Thank you.
Deep respect sir, for you and your craftsmanship. Salute.
Thank you
what am a doing with my life its fucking 2 in the morning
Oliver Edvinson
Depends where you are.
really? there are different time zones in the world?! Thank you "From now on" you've opened my eyes. Now I know there are two time zones in the world, life will never be the same.
Joseph Stott
There are 24 time zones, not two.
From now on
now you're just making things up
Oliver Edvinson
quiet.... troll in progress!
Lovely workmanship, a true crafts person. Thank you for share your Love, it can't be work as you look too content doing it. Billy
Thank you. We love what we do :-)
Always enjoy watching a master craftman at work.
Wesley Baquero you should watch me bate. I'm a true master 😏
I could watch videos like this all day long. People who can craft items of this quality with their hands are a special kind of people. The concentration he exhibits while he works, the cleanliness of his workspace, the care the takes with even the finest details are simply amazing.
Travis Estep thanks, glad you enjoyed it :-)
Lol look guys it's Zachary Quinto!
Sushi Addict yes I was thinking that as well
bluemonkey223 any one else notice the final fantasy X theme?
I was thinking the same thing! I didn't realize the guy's name though, I was just thinking; Hey, it's Sylar from Heroes!
Nathan Jennings sylar was such a horrible guy! preferred him as spock
DUDE.... SYLAR! :D
extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the work space. I know of only one of country that has super clean workspaces for this kind of work and that is Japan. Clean workspace equates to a clean and efficient product. Very nice work.
Thank you. We agree, you cant be creative amongst a chaotic workspace, and you certainly cant produce clean work in, just one as you say
To everyone arguing: People can do whatever they want with their money. It won't affect you. I'm sure you won't lose an hour of sleep. If you want to pay that much, that's fine. If you don't want to pay that much, that's fine. For those acting hostile over the way someone else chooses to spend their money (cheap or expensive), I feel sorry for you.
If I buy one of these, they'll be going in the pocket of my 30$ H&M jeans :P
Wadud Khan what the rich do with their money DEFINITELY affects you and I
And what wealthy and moderately wealthy pay in taxes affect people also and no one ever cares to mention that. If someone pays as much taxes as I do then no damn body has the right to shame me about what I spend the rest of my money on.
@@rico9163 But it's not always the rich. Sometimes the poor scrounge and save for special occasions; ever read Gift of the Magi? Sometimes people splurge for a costume or a gift or just because they want something cool or useful or a talking point or to support an artisan. Sometimes the rich flaunt.
There is an overall effect of money being tossed around. It determines what products are available and who owns what item(s). The money traded by the rich then go into the hands of those who managed and/ or created the products, with a tax to the government that (ideally) protects the practice(s).
What other effects are you reffering to?
I bought a wallet from a regular market store when I was 14. I still have it. i have never had another wallet. it's still good. cost me $5.
Evil Spyke well, your current age is an important fact in that story. If you are 15... Well... So? But if you are 40.... Good job man.
NutzLast rude.
I don't know how to describe so much softness back every trace but just to say it's a really beautiful and wonderful leather work, amazing
What a graceful video and such a peace it emits. Nice job and wonderful work.
Is the wallet handmade?
hachuto BOY
made my day
hachuto 😂👍🏼
Best evah xD
*No. The guy is secretly a robot.*
i wont say it's too expensive, but simply i can't afford having one, it's a priceless piece of art full of emotions
I have never seen a video so interesting and INTENSE as this one holy alligator skin
Fr
that is not alligator skin, it is just shaped like it
KhaRughe Slatheron Nope, real alligator. Why do you think it’s 1400£?
I don't like when the full finished product is not shown in the end
Art SF Blog it's to push you to go and put your own hands on one. Sadly, after buying it you won't have any money to put in it!
Awesome job! Its obvious how much detail was put in and the guy really looks like he enjoys it. Very relaxing.
Such Skilled Hands! Hands of a Surgeon. An Artist and Master! Incredible! I am in AWE!
This wallet from the design stage to the finest finishing is simply world class.
The level of skill demonstrated is frightening.
If you have ever tried your hand at leather craft you will appreciate every detail of this build. 🙌stunning👌
No finished product shot at the end!? You're killing me.
Gotta buy it to find out lol
I take it you've never heard of search engines then? It's really not that difficult...for most of us...
www.equusleather.co.uk/the-lloyd-coat-wallet.html
@@Penguin_of_Death The point is that we shouldn't have to. The entire video is about making a wallet. And then they don't even show the wallet. That's fucking horse shit.
Of course, the very best wallets are made to classical music by a man wearing a cardigan.
nagualdesign that's probably a lot of where the cost comes from yes x)
nagualdesign that cardigan happens to be fleece waistcoat! Bet your clothes are as shit as the wallets you buy!
Pffft... I don't wear clothes! B-)
That's not classical.
nagualdesign I think your supposed to be sipping single malt and smoking a pipe just to watch this.
Who needs machines when their are truely gifted people out there who can make beautiful pieces like this i always go for quality not quantity you get what you pay for and i'd buy a handmade wallet over machine made one anyday beautiful work you should be proud ☺
Wow! I cant believe he made that beautiful wallet in only 6 minutes.
"Wow"
-Owen Wilson
krishan mohan "Wow. What did he say?." Jenifer Anniston, and then Hillary looked surprised and said, "Wow."
Facepalm
Funny.
@Yasir yousuf zai r/wooosh
now you're making my cheap Calvin Klein synthetic fake leather wallet that I found at some department store feel very jealous
Hello from Boston! Thank you for your beautiful videos, you are an artist. Your videos were the start of my inspiration to take up leather-craft and I will be starting my own small business soon!
is it just me or did this remind anyone of the scene where that old guy is repairing woody after his arm got ripped by the prospector?
Brendony Haha! I thought I was the only one.😂
at the beginning i was just waiting for him to say "Oh, hello. I didn't see you there."
Goon Soul what? Why lol this isnt a parody vid.
+XxBeastlyGodxX
Since when was it that only parodies could use that line? In fact, many times when trying to teach something or showing off an art, that line is used to introduce the art or lesson. It's an old trick.
really?
Aaron Aguirre i miss my dad bob ross. he was a great man and an amazing painter.
Goon Soul lol reading your comment dont know why.
That is really awesome =) A huge work, but a great result!!
Quality over quantity this is amazing the amount of time you take on a single wallet
Good not fast etc..
The edit, music, oldschool hand work everything is there ( amazing ) is ALL the stuff from your website handmade
Yes, each product is made in its own way, but everything we do is made in a similar manner to this
@@saddlestitch whats the name of the background music ?
This was so peaceful I actually passed out x3
Such craftsmanship i will always appreciate, but will never be able to afford
Real artful video man, real respect for the craftsmanship too.
beautiful craft, beautiful video
I am just starting out in leather, and absolutely everything in this video is mind-blowing. The craftsmanship, aesthetic, the artistry, precision and care that went into the product and the video are truly inspiring. I wish you could teach me!
i have exam tommorow and I'm watching a semi bald man making leather wallet
I think it's fair to say he's bald, calling him semi-bald is like calling a corpse " semi-dead "....
Hey me too
I would say balding since jes on the verge of being bald just like a person could be dying
Idk how I got here but this was soothing to watch and the end product was just beautiful. Love it.
Without the classical music, this would be such a good ASMR video
Couldn't agree more
Even with the music this is the most relaxing thing I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying
Agreed. The music is fine but dominates the sound. The music needs to be more subtle and the sounds of the craftsmanship turned up.
No. ASMR is annoying. Just like the people who watch the videos.
@@MatthewRhodes Please shut the F up. And if you think about anything else...don't. Just don't think, don't type and sit silently. Basically... do no more.
I only wish you showed more of the finished product in it's entirety once completed. Absolutely amazing work. A joy to watch. You have some tooling I've not seen anywhere else.
really satisfying to watch
What An Artist . Hands Not Machines . Wow .
machines not children
some places
Rubsi but it’s cheaper to just employ kids
im inviting with movie ruclips.net/video/-uAwE7TdHB8/видео.html
But seriously to watch a master work their craft be it auto repair, cooking, tailoring, wood work, or leather work is awesome!
he looks like Tom cruise in tropic thunder
He has shown my point .. saddle stitching always looks better & it’s a craft!! Thx you
I have a friend who works at McDonald's and he buys shit like this. He happens to really enjoy some of life's finer things. He's single, lives in the somewhat nicer apartments in my area. His apartment is very modern looking and if you had to guess by the way he dresses, the brands he wears, where he lives, and all that you'd assume he had some big wig corporate job and not McDonald's. The funny thing is I know people are gonna call bull shit but in reality, if you're smart, you'll know that you don't have to be rich to have nice things. Just work hard, spend wisely, make sacrifices, save what you can when you can and most importantly don't pay any attention to Joe shmo up the road who always has the latest and greatest because then you'll compete and then when you finally do make that purchase on whatever it is you've been saving for it won't feel as good as it should because I can almost guarantee that mr shmo has already upgraded and now you're competing again. Moral of my statement is pay no attention to anyone else and do what makes you happy. For most people they are there own biggest downfall.
Hello From Paris !
you are so right ...
yeah he slaves away at burgers so he can look like he owns a bank.. what a nob!
Dylan Bennett yea not to mention he gets to snag chicken nuggets and fries on the daily....priceless.
All I got from this was that you work at McDonald's
Well pretty sure this was YOU :) and behind your advice i can feel some bitter sorry shits from you :)) , now go make me a double cheese burger, then you can get on yt and talk shit again
What is that music? Its very good.
wow.... this guy's deserves every penny and respect.
I slept like a baby after watching this video
It's Not Jerry same here
I appreciate fine craftsmanship. My current wallet was made by an 8 year old craftsman in Asia.
amazing, it only took him 6 min.
No tf, most of the process is cut out.
I think your joke detector's on the blink again, Goatyx.
Tremendous amount of time and effort in designing and making this wallet.
Hey, great video! As somebody who is breaking into the world of leatherwork, I was wondering if you could answer a question- what is your shop's formal punishment for bringing a non-Earth-tone into the shop?
I hope that none of our staff own such a thing so we never need to bring in to force the banishment set out in the employee handbook for such a crime..
TheUnitedEstates what's wrong with non-earth-tones?
Does anyone else think he looks like Zachary Quinto (Spock from new Star Trek Movies)???
He reminds me of his character in Heroes, who likes to repair or tinker with clocks (meticulous and precise)
Certainly does now.
He looks like the bad religion singer too
Glad I'm not rich enough to buy this but poor and free enough to watch and appreciate the work
I love your hands...You inspire me to doing things with love and passion.
#handsnotmachines :-)
Definitely looking into buying from you guys. Louis Vuitton and Hermès aspire to your level of craftsmanship
Thank you for the kind words! Here to help if you need it!
Watching your working is a big joy sir
and kids will just buy the $400 supreme plastic wallet that took a machine 30 seconds to mass produce...
@Tom Smith i dont think any wallet over $15 is worth it. Its literally a pocket you carry around in a pocket. You can buy cash clips for $.50 from walmart.
Shakes fist at clouds
Im assuming youve owned several of these?
Not every kid. But most, yes. Sadly.
Well machines require a much bigger investment than a couple instruments. People are really overpaying for this handmade aspect, as it doesn't give any quality advantage to the product, on the contrary it makes the product susceotible to errors or imperfections. I believe that good quality leather machine made wallets wouldn't be any worse just because they are not hand made, as less human effort and time resource go into them, so they are cheaper, but the end product is just the same
Even the making is so beautiful and satisfying to watch , I can only imagine how it would be like to own one . Nice piece of art .
So are we just gonna pretend like this isn't Spock when he gets older and settles down?
how many hours in that one item? nice video, it is fun to see a craftsman at work
There will be somthing like 10 - 12 hours work in a piece like this, depending on the details
Equus Leather it is a fine piece, thank you for sharing your skills
Not at all, thank you for watching
Amazing! Such good hands not shaky at all, and the background music really calms me as I watch you're magnificent crafting skills! I'm subscribing!
My god, its sylar!
conecturs I guess he moved on from watches. Dare I say....he's lost hair from the stress related to time piece repair?
That was the same thing that I was thinking!! cx
conecturs hahahaha thanks for making me realise it
That was actually beautiful...
You didn't even show the completed wallet???
Breathe taking, the attention to detail. There’s something about hand made that far out compares to machine.
Jonathan Gomez are you shore? This is a bold argument!
I'll slap yo face ( hand made )
For me, hand made means that each part of the product was deliberately decided, not punched from a mould. Hand made means care and expertise in both the product and the craftsman/ craftswoman, ages of experience making a product designed to last because it's not easily replaceable.
Bet that shop smells SO good!
It does if you're a visitor, we only smell it if we've been away on holiday now. Sad but true!
Is he making like one per day?
Yes!
Equus Leather Love the video and your works, its beautiful!!! By the way what is the title of this song? It is so lovely, love their symphony.
Segen hes never gonna make cash lmaoo
Gaby Chuel its handcrafted and made of real leather, its probably sells for a few hundred if not thousands of dollars. I think he'll be ok
Gaby Chuels do you know how much these wallets go for
Equus Leather can you please let me know the name of this piano song or anyone here knows? Thanks
