I taught myself by watching these videos. Got on the mountain for the first time this year, now I'm even doing a couple black diamond runs (and by that, I mean I turned off onto one a couple times by accident, and only survived because I learned from your videos).
i have been snowboarding since i was twelve years old but i still get scared of getting off the chairlift your tips are really great to improve snowboarding and get better
Id like to add some basic pointers here. 1. As you load make sure your back foot is on your toe side of the snowboard in the snow. They clearly do this in their demos but do not mention it. Watch at 1:352:05 2. As you load and unload keep the board pointed straight ahead. 3. As you sit down you can lift the nose of your snowboard to prevent catching an edge before your chair climbs into the air.
I love your videos! lets hope my snowboarding trip goes well this weekend! i know I have a tendency to kick my back foot back for turns and use my arms because thats how I was taught.....bad habits!
riding the chair lift is easy. it's the turn after unloading that's a bit hard. that's why practice the J turn first. i hurt my knee when i landed on my hands last week. now, i wear my bike knee pads for protection, just in case since i'm not an expert yet in turning. thanks guys for your videos. it helped me a lot.
when I took lessons I was taught to drag either my toe or heel but with the rest of my foot still on the board so I won't do the splits, would probably be easier for a beginner to do on some steeper slopes coming off a chairlift.
It's easy to coast away when the slope from the lift is mild. It's way harder when the slope is steep. In Bulgaria they have lots of these chairlifts, but there's a fucking steep slope. Feel like 2-3 times and looked like a moron haha.
Lol I learned all this backwards, went straight to the biggest hill with friends they showed me some basics and sent me down I learned each time I used the chairlift good videos to get technique down though thanks
I'm not sure I got this. I mean it's one thing to "watch" a video on this but to actually experience doing it is an entirely different manner...I'm still afraid and I think I might just end up dangling with my board snagged into the chair bar and with me dangling upside down the entire way up to the top...I'm afraid I might die a horrible death with my neck getting caught in the metal grate at the end and my body getting twisted until my neck snaps!! Any advice to overcome this anxiety? :S
Keep in mind, each of these videos represents about 1 season of lessons at least 4-5 days a week. Very few riders actually ride the lift their first year. Also, snowboarding is much more dangerous than skiing. You will fall, a lot and you will get hurt, probably severely. I see far more snowboarders than skiers coming down on a sled with broken legs or concussion every day. A helmet is absolutely mandatory, I usually wear a full-face motorcycle helmet and armored motorcycle jacket.
@iNsAn3xGaMiNgZx That's just over-complicating things >_>. They make it seem like the chairlift is extremely difficult, which it quite frankly isn't. Most of it will come natural.
@MrScooterman89 if i were you i would rent boards until you're a bit older and more experienced, if you get a board when you're 12 you'll quickly grow out of it.

Your videos are informative and intuitive. Best way to learn in front of the monitor. You should have had a million views by now!

I fell off the chairlift twice today! Thanks for this video.

Funny how actually important this is! I felt like total noob when I got up on the chairlift for the first time lol.
kkkkkkkkkkk I love these videos, thanks!

i think the chairlift was the only thing i didnt have a problem with when I started. still informative vids though
can you also make a video about riding the T-bar?
you guys are so lucky. you live close to the snow... have to drive 6 freakin hours until i get to the slopes!
That's your sister!?!? Everything has been a lie!?!?!
the lifts have to be the scariest thing about snowboarding.
lol the chair lift, probably the biggest disadvantage for snowboards
thank you for this video!
That is very helpful

Can you say 'about' so I can tell if you are Canadian or American please.
i just get the board in my hands and i hold it. on the top i just jump of the chairlift and run a little its much easier
my mum said, i was so funny because i actually got up. lol!
I wish I had watched this video before eating the ground my first few times trying to get off the lift!
Where did he get that shirt? I want it! lol
I like gondolas. Less scary.
It seems easy. Hope soo
that sounds awwkkkward!
I can get on the lift with skis I masterd skiing now I'm snowboarding
It's also harder to do it with two people on the lift
I find chair lift's fun ^.^

What If Im Goofy and have the nose of the bored on my right foot?
Holy fuck this is painful
pomas are about 20x harder for a boarder to ride than a chairlift...
