Ronny, you've done a great job on the Grenadier series. Out of all the RUclipsrs out there that have tried - your review of the Grenadier is by far the best. Love it and thank you for your efforts.
I really hope that the engineers at ineos watch this, because I dont always think the engineers truly understand how and where these cars will be used out in the world. And that is the one thing the cruiser has on ineos is the trial and error over many many years. If Ineos listens to customers who use a car like you, and adapts and updates I have no doubt they will do very well.
Except that the Toyota Landcruiser has barely evolved despite all the 'trial and error over many years'! It’s a dinosaur, with a rear wheel track narrower than the front! Terrible road dynamics, noise levels and still the appalling ride and poor articulation of horse and cart springs! The INEOS is more refined in every way and yet it is super robust and the real deal off road too. Despite the INEOS being a new model, it is already way out infront. Toyota should be ashamed, especially of their ridiculous pricing on vehicles that have seen virtually no improvement over decades. The Toyota miasma is bizarre, as Ronny has inadvertently shown, by demonstrating how awesome this INEOS Grenadier is in comparison.
@@3TZZZ why is the Australian devotion to Toyota, Nissan and Land rover "bizarre"? If you knew anything about remote Australia and the consequences of breaking down in it, you would know that the majority of experienced overlanding Aussies will always go back to the tried and true "dinosaurs" instead of the over engineered, high tech long term unproven circus acts that the inneos and others like it are. I'd trust my life in a land cruiser out in the middle of nowhere, not in a grenadier.
Fantastic final episode, looking forward to the final assessment of Skippy. That crater looked awesome, there is one outside of Uluru that is pretty special too. Keep up the awesome work
Am in Pretoria and have not seen a Grenedier yet. Parts availability, dealer network and cost of ownership are right up there. It'll be tough for the Grenadier to compete with Toyota on these.
Size, range and dampers seem to be the main negatives of the Grenadier. Not too bad for a first attempt. I'd like to see the same journey done in a new Defender 110 to see if LR really did miss the mark and by how much. Although, looking at the number of Defenders sold I suspect LR achieved what they set out to do.
Yep, made it less hardcore, widened the appeal and have sold more. The irony is the new Defender was designed as part of the push to be a million vehicles per year manufacturer; and now they've given that up and looking for less than half that volume.
Damn Ronny! I don't wanna see the Grenadier series end but I wanna hear your final evaluation! Maybe you could stretch a few more videos before the final call?
Awesome episode Ronny!! I am actually guessing you will keep skippy as part of your fleet 😂 because Ineos will definitely give you the biggest discount because of all the publicity you generated 🎉 example… the grenadier was never in my radar, but after watching all your grenadier episodes… it is now in the top of my list… not yet, but definitely 👍🏼
I like so much about the Grenadier, but the two biggest issues for me are the small fuel tank. It’s something that needs a proper underbody solution. 130lt would be ideal if at all possible. It’s not a deal breaker though, I’m sure the aftermarket industry is not far off from the answer. Unfortunately though, for someone who’s 200cm tall, the floor lump makes it impossible to own. I fully understand why it’s part of a RH drive vehicle design, but it’s just not able to be ignored or put up with! Maybe importing a LH drive vehicle would be an option, for someone with my height? Love the look, the capability, the awesome driveline, interior design and features, and the fact that someone who’s a real 4WDer put his money where his mind is, and actually built such an awesome truck! Maybe in the coming years, another exhaust system could be introduced that eliminates the need for the hump! Great review series mate.👍
For what it’s worth, I’m 190cm with size 15 feet, and I just don’t notice the floor lump at all or get the complaints about. Give the car a test drive and have a think.
@@SeanGreenhillHonestly I think it’s more to do with how people are scaled - I’m around the 6’ mark and after a 20m test drive I was super uncomfortable. While others have no issues. I was super keen for one until that drive, I think leg length etc and also what your seating position is like has a difference. Another good example is Pajero Sports, the centre console bar thing drives some people crazy but others don’t notice it.
Pretty cool vehicle , it looks like they have done a good job at replacing the Land Rover Defender which was their original intent . Definitely looks capable as a 4x4 but like the Defender it seams too big and is expensive. It’s was good to see how well it did in stock condition . I guess we will, have to wait for your final analyses. Thanks for the ride
oh wait, i visited that place on my google maps research while reading about meteorite craters two days ago. i actually wondered what it would take to get there. now this video, just like having it ordered. made my day.
Ronny, when you are making something like those 'jonny cakes' or even a damper, maybe think of lining the dutch oven with foil so you can just wrap it up at the end, as is, and its all good to go for later.
Magnetic termite mounds align North-South to regulate the heat through surface exposure. Though i don't think those were magnetic mounds as they weren't really blade shaped, but more rounded. I think you need to be a bit further North for those.
for what it is worth....several weeks ago i spoke to a Ineos Grenadier engineer and tester and he advised that no extended range fuel tank is being developed, also said to wait till 2025 ...
Running Waters in an awesome spot, went in there in my Lightweight Land Rover SIII in the ‘90s. Bet the road in has changed. Was a little track from… Nullagine? I think. No haul road etc. Jerry’s of fuel and water in the back. Good times! One thing, we never let tyres down. Kept the old “V Steel All Steel” 7.50 16s hard and pretty much hammered through anything.
I’m seriously looking at a new Ineos Trailmaster BUT our 2021 LC200 has too many positives as well as std 138 lt diesel tanks that can easily be upgraded to then carry 278lt for remote travel. The devil we know or a new puppy that needs lots of upgrades to get right.???
@ - it not the $$ just getting itchy for something new and a project BUT do not have confidence in BMW as well as the Ineos seems to have missed the mark in a few areas but easily sorted although it will set one back $$$$

You are a brave and intrepid traveller, Ronny. You have really pushed the envelope on this trip. Just when I thought that you had reached the limit, you made a billy and put your head under the surface at Running Waters. Last time I visited, I nearly stood in a steaming grogan on the very edge of the pool. It was an image I can't unsee. The next day at Carrawine, I saw exactly the same thing. Same morron I reckon... but gets you thinking. Admittedly, it was school holidays near the end of covid. Lots of people, with lots of gear. But sadly, limited ideas. Just need to drive so much further now, to get away from the E. coli.
Comparing videos 18 months ago to the last 6+ months, and Ronny has completely changed the direction of the channel....I am not sure if its for the best tbh.
Good replacement for a Land Rover but certainly no out of the box overlander. No reason for it to be no better than average unless you don't actually overland. Which is the exactly the case for the owner of IEOS...
Every time I see that 70 following the grenadier, it’s just looks so much more at home in the outback, don’t know what it is. The grenadier with all the crap hanging off it just looks out of place
@ I think you’re right. Used to go remote in my jeep until it was time for something a little more sensible. Ended up going with a prado. Saw a lot of remote communities using hilux, prados and of course 70 series. These are true proven vehicle in the Aussie outback. Love the fact that I can get parts anywhere if required. Big shoes to fill for the grenadier.
It's the visual "over-design". It looks very cool in stock form but is right on the edge of being bit tacky as the design borrow quite bit from G-Wagon now too (as hood lines), not just Defender and every visual detail has been pushed to limit of being over-styled. Add mod stuff around it and it looks bit comical. Same issue with all highly styled vehicles (G-Wagon, New Defender, Lexus GX550, etc..), they look great in stock but don't mesh well with the brodoser additions. The 70 on other hand, starts visually so simple and under-stated, it still looks good even under shit-ton of mods.

Someone on the Grenadier forum had one installed, can't remember the brand though. From memory, they removed the rear muffler to achieve it though, which was a bonus as it pretty much just takes up space and made zero difference in sound output anyway. It was a diesel model too.
